Tried Our Best
Chapter 15
Faster than the wind, passionate as sin, ending so suddenly
Losing him was blue, like I'd never known
Missing him was dark gray, all alone.
Remembering him comes in flashbacks and echoes.
But moving on from him is impossible.
The two met for dinner at one of Brooke's favorite restuarants.
A number of days later. When they saw each other.
They were shy and and nervous. But what they felt lingered in the background.
Brooke had on this red dress. Which cut off right off at the knees. And sparkled on the bottom. The dress showed off her figure.
And as beautiful as she looked. Lucas's gaze was focused on her face. Her eyes.
Awaiting them at the table was candle light.
Lucas was dressed nicely. Wearing a blue top and black dress pant and shoes.
His hair short. He knew she liked that.
Brooke had chicken parm. Lucas had Eggplant Parmigiana.
They shared a bottle of wine. Reserved the restaurant for the night.
So they had it themselves.
As they ate and stared out at the view and each other. Time passed.
"I'm scared. Terrified. To try again. To start over."
"Yes we loved each other. Deeply and it consumed us."
"But the problems we faced that destroyed our relationship still happened."
"Have we changed and grown up. We have."
"But is that enough?"
"Am i in love with you. With no doubt in my mind. I am." Brooke proclaimed. The emotion in her voice thick.
Lucas took her hands in his.
"You've had my heart for as long as i can remember."
"There are so many parts of our story i would redo. But falling in love with you. Having our family."
"I would do it all again. Because you make me a better person."
"You're love changed my life." Lucas replied. The emotion in his voice thick.
