(Timing(accoustic) - Bilmuri)
Once Danica and Matt had put all of her luggage inside her new apartment and Danica had taken a brief look around, she made her way over to his place. He had it furnished simple but nice, two small chairs, a coffee table, and a leather couch.
"My humble abode." Matt gestured around as she smiled.
"I like it, it fits you I think."
"Oh? How so?" He asked as she thought about it for a moment.
"Hm.. Neat, simple but in a good way. To the point even. It's lived in, not for decoration. No clutter really, but that's because a clear apartment is a clear mind." Danica looked at him as his face seemed impressed. "Or I could be overthinking it. I do that sometimes."
"Actually, I feel like you're pretty accurate." He admitted to her as she grinned then.
"Way to give me an ego boost over here."
"What about you then, Ms. Kravitz?" He asked as she wandered over to where he was in the kitchen. Danica jumped onto his kitchen counter which was actually somewhat difficult given her 5'4 height.
"What about me?" Danica asked, putting one leg over the other as he opened the fridge, pulling out a beer and opening it before handing it to her, then grabbing one for himself and leaning against his fridge as he sipped his.
"What type of fit are you? Who is Danica Kravitz?" He asked as she chuckled.
"That sounds like the title of some magazine." Matt chuckled at that too. "Uhm, why don't you take an educated guess?" She asked as he put his hand to his chin in thought.
"Well.. I think for one, you're pretty." Danica laughed at that.
"And how would you know?" Matt shrugged.
"I just do, but I can confirm if you'd let me touch your face." He pushed himself off the fridge and took a step closer.
"As weird as that sounds, yes I will." She said as he smiled.
"It only sounds weird if you're not blind. I get a pass."
"Touché." Danica pointed at him but realized he couldn't see it. "I pointed at you but you can't see it. I'm gonna have to get used to that."
"It happens all the time, don't worry. But.. may I?" He asked and once again, Danica felt her heart beat speeding up.
"You may." She spoke quietly, and watched as he came closer, his hands first laying on the counter on either side of her before he reached up and gently felt her face, his fingers lightly grazing her cheeks, feeling a scar on her right cheek to where it began at the edge of her lip and to where it ended at the earlobe. Matt's brows furrowed in what looked like upset but he said nothing, instead continuing to feel her face.
His fingers held her chin, before his thumb slowly dragged across her bottom lip. Danica tried not to fall apart at him touching her, blinking rapidly. His hands wandered the rest of her face before he finally pulled back with a smirk.
"I was right." Danica blushed at his unabashed cockiness. "But I already knew that. Now as a person, I think you're someone who wears her heart on her sleeve, you let it lead you too. You're very smart, I bet you had to have all A's or it felt like the end of the world, and a book worm to boost. Definitely more to you then what's on the surface too." When he stopped talking, Danica just stared at him for a moment, trying to find words. "Or I could be overthinking it." Matt shrugged as she suddenly laughed.
"No, no. I'd say uh- you're pretty spot on too. I had all A's in class every year, and I do tend to keep my heart on my sleeve. Much to my detriment in recent times, however. I've thought about putting it up, hiding it so I don't get hurt again." Matt shook his head at that.
"Don't do that. Everyone does and we need more people like you who wear their heart proudly. Just more people need to be gentle with it." Matt spoke gently, his velvet voice once again making Danica's heart race. What is this man doing to me? She thought to herself as she stared at him.
"Unfortunately the world isn't, and I have no one to protect it but me." Danica murmured quietly, taking a swig of her beer.
"Hm." Matt hummed as she raised an eyebrow.
"Hm?" She hummed in a questioning tone.
"It's a shame you don't." They were both silent for a moment, both of them just drinking their beers. "Can I ask how you got that scar on your face?" Matt asked suddenly as Danica lightly touched it, haunting memories flashing in her head for a moment.
"Well it happened when my mom died a year and a half ago from cancer. I flew out for her funeral." Danica started to explain as Matt interrupted.
"I'm so sorry." Matt apologized, his face somber as she gave him a small smile in reassurance.
"It's okay, I'm still healing from it but one day hopefully it won't hurt as bad anymore... But the day I came home from my moms funeral, as I was leaving the airport I was grabbed by some men in masks. I thought I was about to get trafficked or something but instead they started asking me things. I didn't understand the questions they were asking me, they said something about a man in white, that they saw him lurking near my apartment. They wanted information and I didn't know what they were talking about but they wouldn't believe me and uh.." Danica's voice cracked as her eyes drifted off, feeling tears well up for a moment.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to pry." Matt's mouth was set in a deep frown as she shook her head.
"No, you're fine. I just get choked up sometimes thinking about it, I gotta get over that." She reassured him before continuing. "But um, no they didn't believe me obviously. They kept saying they wanted to know who he was, the Moon Knight they called him. And when I didn't give them information they wanted to hear, they stuck a blade in my mouth and.. you get the picture."
"How did you escape?" Matt asked quietly.
"I was saved actually. By the man that they were after. He was like some vigilante, he was crazily strong, took them out quick and without mercy. His suit was made out of what seemed like white gauze, his entire face was covered, a white hood, and his eyes glowed white as well. In the middle of his chest he had a golden crescent moon. To top it all off, he had a cape. It was the craziest thing that's ever happened to me."
"Wow," Matt breathed. "That does sound crazy. And they called him Moon Knight?"
"Yep. It was fitting really. When he got to me, he kept telling me everything was going to be okay. He put his hand on the left side of my face as if to comfort me, like he was genuinely worried for me. Then he picked me up and jumped from building to building to get me to a hospital. His strength was inhuman. While he was, he was seemingly talking to air but then suddenly as I started feeling dizzy from the blood loss, I saw who or I guess what he was talking to. A tall being with a bird skull, he held a staff that also had a crescent moon, the same dirty white gauze like material wrapping around his body and a robe. After that I lost consciousness and when I woke up, I was in the hospital. I told them about the man Moon Knight and they told me that I was just probably dreaming. Somehow no one had seen him bring me in. They fortunately had one of the best doctors around to surgically sew up my face though and the scar is as smooth as I could hope for."
Matt was silent for a moment, his eyebrows raised and Danica laughed awkwardly. "You probably think I'm crazy. Believe me, sometimes I do too." Matt shook his head at that.
"No, no, I don't think you're crazy. I think you're lucky actually because whoever this Moon Knight is, he saved your life. And now, because of that I got to meet you, Danica Kravitz." He grinned as Danica blushed with a laugh.
"You're a smooth operator Matt Murdock, do you know that?" Danica asked as he rubbed the back of his neck with a shrug.
"So I've been told."
"And are you a smooth operator with every pretty girl?" Danica eyed him, taking another swig.
"Oh no, of course not. Only ones that smell like," Matt sniffed the air. "Honey and cinnamon. Some of my favorite scents actually." He told her.
"It's my shampoo and body wash that you're smelling." She informed him as he nodded before walking towards his living room.
"Come sit with me on my couch, I can only imagine sitting on the counter can be comfortable for so long." He motioned for her to follow and she hopped up, making her way down the few stairs and as he sat on one end, Danica sitting on the opposite end, facing him. "So Danica, how do you know Foggy?" Matt asked her as she took another drink.
"We were neighbors growing up." She informed him. "At first we weren't really friendly. He used to make fun of me a lot when we were younger but then as we got older, our dynamic started to change. By High School we were basically inseparable. I helped him pass calculus and he helped me to be a little more chill because as he put it, I was wound tighter then one of his Granddad's clocks." Matt smiled as she explained.
"That explains why Foggy mentions you all the time. He tells stories about you guys sometimes but I finally understand what he's been saying this entire time."
"About?" Danica asked.
"About you being so great."
"Mr. Murdock, if you don't stop flirting with me I might think you like me." Danica told him with a smirk, the alcohol making her tongue loose.
"Why wouldn't I like a smart, beautiful woman that's currently sitting on my couch?" He asked, leaning in somewhat as she did too. Just as they got closer, a rapid knock sounded on the door and they both jumped. Matt cleared his throat in annoyance. "Sorry, give me just one second." As he jumped up from the couch and went to the door, the knocking kept coming.
"Matt!" Called a voice through the door. "Matttt, open the door! Have you met Danica yet?" It was Foggy and Danica laughed as Matt opened the door.
"Nope, haven't even seen her." Matt told him as he turned around and walked back over to the couch just as Foggy rushed in.
"Dani!" He exclaimed as she got up just as he picked her up, hugging her tightly as he spun her around. When he let her down, he held her shoulders as he looked at her face. "What are you doing in Matt's apartment?" He asked. "Also when'd you get that scar? What happened?"
"Matt invited me to have some drinks after he helped me get my stuff to my apartment and we've just been getting to know each other. And the scar is a long story, I'll tell you later." Danica explained as Foggy nodded before letting her shoulders go and pointing accusingly at Matt.
"Your pretty girl sniffer must have been off the radar the moment she got in your building." Foggy said as Matt put his hand on his chest in mock offense.
"I've got no idea what you're talking about." Matt told him as Foggy rolled his eyes.
"Uh-huh, whatever. But anyways I've finally got it made, both of my best friends in the same room together, bonding none the less! Without me, which is slightly offensive but I'm willing to let it slide since I'm such a good friend."
"Oh thank you, dear Foggy. How did either of us get an amazing friend such as you?" Danica asked dramatically, putting the back of her hand on her forehead in a mock swoon. Foggy grinned and so did Matt.
"That's a good question, Dani. I only pick top tier people for friends so feel honored."
"Oh we do, Foggy. We do." Matt patted his back. "Help yourself to a drink, we were just on our way to getting tipsy before you showed up."
"Definitely not on your way to something else!" Foggy called as he walked to the kitchen. Danica put her face in one hand in embarrassment as the other held her beer.
"Foggy please." Danica begged.
"I think you're embarrassing the poor girl." Matt told him as he sat back down on the other side of the couch as Foggy came back and sat in a chair with a shrug.
"I've been doing it to her all our lives, why would I stop now?" He asked as he cracked his beer open and took a drink.
"Nice to know some things never change." Danica muttered before taking another drink.
"Isn't it nice to come home and have things just fall together perfectly like you never left?" Foggy asked her as she smiled then.
"Yeah, actually it is. It's a comfort that I sorely needed after everything that's happened in the last two years."
"Super glad that idiot ex-boyfriend of yours fumbled so hard so we could have this moment together." Foggy cheekily told her as she laughed. "No offense."
"None taken." Danica said with a shake of her head. "It was the push I needed."
"What's your ex's name?" Matt asked her as she glanced to him in curiosity.
"It's Marc." Danica told him as he raised his beer in the air then, a smirk on his face.
"To Marc for fucking up!" Matt cheered as Danica grin then followed suit along with Foggy.
"To Marc!" They both cheered together as their beers clinked together.
The next day, Danica slowly opened her eyes with a groan at the light streaming in and sat up, looking around. She was on someone's couch. Matt's couch. I'm on Matt's couch, almost forgot where I was. She thought groggily as she rubbed her eyes with a yawn. Looking down on the floor, she saw Foggy laying there next to the couch on his stomach, snoring away.
Oh man what happened last night? Danica got up slowly and tiptoed her way around Foggy before seeing Matt in the kitchen in a white shirt and blue pajama bottoms with his glasses off. "Your shoes are by the door." Matt let her know as she nodded before stretching.
"Oh man, what happened last night?" She asked as he chuckled.
"We drank too much and you eventually fell asleep on me. Foggy was gonna try to go home but didn't make it three steps without stumbling so he settled for sleeping on the floor." Matt explained as Danica blushed in embarrassment.
"I'm so sorry for falling asleep on you." She apologized as he shook his head.
"Don't even worry about it, I wasn't complaining. I don't know if you remember or not but we planned to have coffee at 11."
"Oh! What time is it now?" Danica asked before pulling her phone out of her pocket. When she looked at it she saw a missed call from a number she didn't recognize but didn't pay it much mind. "Okay so it's 10:15. Let me go get a shower at my apartment and change into some clothes and we can go."
"That sounds good to me." Matt told her. "That'll give me time to get Foggy up and get dressed."
"Awesome! I'll be back." Danica told him happily as she made her way to the door, picking up her shoes then hurrying over to her apartment to take a shower. Once she was done, she quickly unpacked some of her clothes and sorted through them before she finally found a nice outfit to wear.
An hour later, Matt, a frumpy looking Foggy, and Danica all sat outside a coffee shop together, sipping on different drinks. "This isn't fair." Muttered Foggy. "I didn't have time to even go back to my apartment and get a different outfit and you two look great." Danica patted his arm comfortingly.
"You look nice Foggy, it's fine! No one even cares or is going to notice." She reassured him as he grumbled a sarcastic 'sure' into his coffee before sipping on it.
"To be fair, last night you told me not to wake you up for anything." Matt told him with a smirk as Foggy raised his arms.
"But not this late! I expect you to at least wake me up early enough to crawl home and change so I didn't look like a hobo."
"My favorite hobo though." Danica gave him a cheeky smile as he squinted at her.
"You're sooooo funny." He muttered.
"I know I am, I should have gone into a career as a comedian." Matt laughed at that as he nodded.
"I agree, you'd have any crowd rolling."
"Why thank you, Matt." Danica replied to him with a smile. "See Foggy, Matt agrees with me. I truly am the funniest."
"Actually you're an unadulterated ball of sunshine beaming into my eyes and blinding me." Foggy told her with a grimace as he pretended to shield his eyes from her.
"I'll take it as a compliment." Danica stuck her tongue out at him as he stuck his tongue out back at her and then laughed.
"God, I missed this. I foresee good times ahead." He told them.
"You sound like a fortune cookie, Foggy." Matt laughed. "What next? The road to glory is rocky but fulfilling?" He asked.
"More like blind man will face tough journey by being tripped." Foggy said.
"You couldn't possibly think about tripping a sweet blind man." Matt said mockingly as Danica nodded in agreement.
"That'd be like throwing a kitten in a dumpster." Danica commented.
"Not if the kitten had it coming." Foggy joked as Matt fake gasped.
"That poor kitten!" He exclaimed as both Danica and Foggy laughed.
"You two are both equal pains in my ass." Foggy shook his head as he sipped some more on his coffee. "How's your sugar, Danica?" He asked as she made an offended noise.
"Listen, just because I wanted a frappe doesn't make it not coffee. I bought it at a coffee shop, therefore it's coffee."
"Ehhhh," Matt started. "That's debatable. They also sell cinnamon rolls and little cake pops but those definitely aren't coffee."
"Two against one isn't fair!" Danica exclaimed. "I am being put under duress. I could sue."
"Well we're the only lawyers you got." Matt smirked as Danica's eyebrows raised.
"You're a lawyer too?" Danica asked as Matt looked at Foggy.
"You didn't tell her?" He asked.
"Well no, it didn't come up." Foggy responded.
"You told her you opened your own firm though, how did it not?"
"I just told her I opened a firm with a friend, I didn't go into specifics." Danica's eyes darted back and forth between Matt and Foggy as they spoke. It seemed like they did this frequently.
"So I take it you're the friend he opened a firm with then?" Danica asked as they both nodded.
"Nelson and Murdock, at your service." Foggy gave her finger guns as Danica laughed at him.
"Very nice, it rolls off the tongue." She told them as Matt cocked his head with a smug face.
"I told you it did Foggy."
