Michi tilted an energy drink back as he tried to get what remained of the soda... After a few seconds he sighed, looking at the time...

3:56 A.m.

"I guess I should sleep... I have.. class tomorrow."

Michi rolled himself into his bed... After a few seconds, he opened his eyes wide, realizing he was too awake to fall asleep too easily. What he was wishing for wasn't going to happen so easily.. Michi closed his eyes once more... letting out a desperate sigh.

"Dammit... Why am I like this..."

Michi slowly stood up, tripping on some of the various items on his floor, until he got to the bathroom, springing on the hot water, he let out a sigh as he placed his hand under the water as he waited for it to warm up. As he basked in the light drops of water, he closed his eyes.. his mind began to drift as he remembered his mother's laugh, giving him a slight smile until...

"Happy Birthday Sweetheart..."

Crash

"Be good to.. each.. Oth-"

Michi suddenly shook awake, as he hit the shower wall.. The water paused for a second before starting again.. Michi moved his hair out of his face as he tried to calm his breathing.

"Damn them... and damn myself."

The Next Morning

The Teacher walked into the classroom with papers stacked in his hands, he looked at his classroom filled with unique looking students and brightly colored smiles.

"Well everyone, all the exams are finished, and it doesn't matter!"

The teacher threw the papers into the air, a smile from ear to ear as he did so, knowing the large bonus he would be receiving for their test scores.

"EVERYONE GOT ABOVE 85% FOR THEIR FINALS! GOOD WORK EVERYONE!"

The class cheered as they all heard that their final Middle School exams have concluded, cheering each other on, each spoke to one another.

"I can't believe everyone did so well!"

"I can't believe Miki even passed."

"Hey shut it!"

"Y'know, I thought that if anyone was going to pull down the class average it would've been..."

A few students fell silent, as their eyes met Shinomori, who was sitting in the corner of the room, looking out into the window. One year ago, someone had seen Michi Shinomori doing community service, and as rumors spread and are forged, Michi was labeled a delinquent by default. Michi undid his headphones, listening as the teacher settled the class.

"Now now, the celebrating is over. What's up next is a serious matter. A few weeks ago, you all were given a slip, to sign up for your top schools to apply to for your scholarly pursuits, as well as your track."

The teacher laughed as he read through a few that had been turned in.

"Please, keep in mind, I know the obvious track everyone would like to take, is the Hero program. But keep your quirk in mind, and if it would even be possibly useful for such a career! Many of you here could easily be a hero! Just keep in mind that you must have a good record! Good grades, and a good attitude!"

Many students in fact reacted to this comment, assuring themselves they are fit to be a hero, many flocking their quirk as if it was a ritual of power to show off. As students finished off their slips, many were talking amongst each other, and offering to move schools to be with their friends. Michi looked at the slip as he picked up his pencil. Taking a deep breath he marked the paper..

"U..."

Michi stopped.. Remembering if he even got into UA with his grades, even as a general track, he would see his cousin, his old friends constantly. He hesitated as he looked at the paper...

"Dammit.."

Michi erased the paper as he tried to think of a different high school he could apply to. When he suddenly heard a voice from behind him.

"Last second thoughts?"

Michi slowly turned his head as he saw a girl leaning down at his side. Her amber eyes hid behind a pair of glasses, as well as her long, midnight dark hair draped on her shoulders and back, her face expressed an unimpressed look as she looked at Michi. He recognized her. She's the number one student in the class. Word is, she hasn't had a single answer incorrect since she came to Osaka High. What was her name again? Michi lifted the paper as he tried to laugh it off

"Just stupid wishful thinking... i guess."

His voice dropping in tone as he spoke softer about his decision. The girl pulled the paper away from Michi as she looked at his constant erasing.

"That says, "UA" Does it not? What's holding you from not wanting to apply there? Not your grades. I've seen them myself, since I am the class rep."

Michi slowly nodded..

"yeah.. It's um... complicated."

The girl placed the pencil in Michi's hand again

"Then don't make it complicated. Take a leap of faith, and go for it."

The girl walked away from Michi Shinomori, walking towards the Sensei, handing him more signed papers. As Michi watched this, he looked around the class, noticing the staring of his fellow classmates. Michi quickly looked back at the paper. His face red as he tried to decide.

A few minutes later, Michi turned in a blank paper to the teacher after class.

"Again, Shinomori?"

"I can't think of any in particular."

The teacher rolled his eyes as he rotated his wheelie chair.

"I know for a fact, your parents both went to UA high. They were in the Hero course, and your father is one of the CURRENT top heroes."

"Please speak quieter sir..."

The teacher exhaled as he tapped his pencil on Michi's slip

"Your mother.. May she rest... Was a top hero as well."

Michi tried speaking again, but was interrupted by his teacher lifting his arm, stopping Michi

"Who advocated for doing good for others, and doing what you could to help others."

Michi let out a sigh as he was frustrated.

"Why the hell do you know so much of my mom anyway?!"

The teacher picked up the slip, handing it back to Michi.

"Because I was one of many kids your age who were saved by her triumphant rescues, and hero work. She was a wonderful woman. Believe me, or not Shinomori, I see your mother in you, more than you think. You have until 5 pm, when I turn these in to give me your slip, otherwise, we're forced to apply to your closest high school."

Michi hesitated as he looked at the paper.

"Okay."

Theme: The Might Rio Grande: This will destroy you.

Michi walked around his Middle school campus, the same one his father went to when they were younger. Usually, he didn't like staying after school anymore, but today was different. He slowly sat himself by the Coy pond as he relaxed, thinking to himself.

"If I were to apply at UA... Dad would be proud... Wouldn't he? He's wanted me to be a hero for so long... But there's no telling how the Itami's would react. Or the Baga's for that matter."

Michi grabbed his hair, tying it into a bun as he pondered more

"Let's say I just did general... I'd be left with either a mundane job. I don't have to do a Hero Course at UA. I could apply somewhere else."

The sun had just begun to set, casting an orange glow over the city of Osaka as Michi trudged through the bustling streets. Michi could not simply "Solve" the choice for himself. Michi slowly turned the corner, to his surprise, he looked up, it wasn't a "Oh how scary" scream, but the kind of blood curdling scream that brings shivers to your bones. A massive, villain with sharp, serrated arms was terrorizing a few high schoolers who were clearly walking to the bus station. The main villain was accompanied by his posse, even though Michi was involved with Osaka only a year ago, he did not recognize the gang. Multiple citizens were pulling out their phones presumably calling the Pros. Only, it was too slow, as the gang slowly pushed the group of middle schoolers into an alley with no way to escape. As Michi watch this happen, he saw a young man's face full of terror. This look shook Michi out of his self-pitying stupor. Michi suddenly found himself standing at the entrance of the alley. His face sweaty and full of terror as he looked at the group of villains.

"H-Hey!"

The main boss slowly turned around, his large stature cast a shadow of Michi, who has grown over the year, but still is over shadowed by the man large stature.

"Oh? A kid playing hero? Get the fuck out kid, you don't got anything I want."

As the man turned around, Michi began to panic, he couldn't just stand there and do nothing. Even if he felt the way that he did. Michi lifted a rock on the floor of the alley, throwing it at the gang boss. For a second, the alley-way went quiet, as the man slowly turned around unphased.

"You... Little... SHIT. You're that excited to DIE?!"

The gang member ripped a razor out of his forearm, throwing it like a boomerang at Michi, the moment Michi saw it coming, he activated his quirk, ready to defend.

"Just practicing, HUH MICHI?"

Senshi's voice echoed in Michi's head, he began to doubt himself, thinking... "Do... do I just want.. practice?!"

Suddenly, the Boomerang sliced into Michi's arm, causing the boy to get launched backwards, it seems this man's quirk, exchanges the trajectory of his "Razor Boomerangs" to whatever gets hit. The impact of hitting the alley-way wall caused Michi to cough loud, his quirk deactivating willfully. Michi's eyes widened as he ran towards the villain

"MOTHER FUCKER!"

Michi dodged razor, after razor, as he swiftly dodged under another villain's quirk, some sort of shadow manipulation, Michi lifted his bag off of his back as he swung it at the villains. He ran towards the giant man with the razors, kicking him in the stomach with his regular strength, causing the villain to stumble back, giving the middle schoolers a chance to run out of the alley.

Michi made eye contact with one of them, recognizing them as one of his classmates, as Michi is grabbed by the massive villain, and slammed into the wall. Michi coughed as he felt something shift in his body, the feeling was just as unpleasant as you could think.

The villain held Michi against the wall by the neck, infuriated by his intervention, as they heard sirens. For the time remaining before their escape, they beat Michi until the officers cars had arrived to the scene. Michi held his neck, as he tried to breathe, before moving his okay arm to hold his sliced arm, as he watched the villains climb building to building, only to be stopped by Pro Heroes a few blocks later. Michi was helped by officers as he was brought to an ambulance, after some quick, on the spot healing, Michi stood up, trying to hold himself up as he limped towards the side walk.

"Goood ol' Osaka, heals you just enough to allow you to lim-"

Michi suddenly stopped as he looked up, seeing multiple members of his Middle School, one being his classmate, with a concerned, yet frustrated look on his face.

"You're crazy, you know that?!"

Michi tried not to laugh as he coughed from the excitement in his lungs. His classmate slowly approached Shinomori.

"Thanks for the hand but we would've been okay. They just wanted some money."

Michi looked down at the ground, then up as he spoke softly, due to the pain of breathing

"That isn't the point of stepping up. I couldn't just... watch."

Michi slowly picked up his bag, as he walked towards the school, as he entered the main entrance, Michi watched the darkening sky be pierced by the light of the industrial lights of his school. He slowly went towards his locker, before being interrupted by his teacher, who had a concerned look on his face.

"Michi?! Oh my heavens what the hell happened to you?!"

Michi laughed as he opened his bag, pulling out the high school slip, slightly crumbled and ruined. He handed it to his teacher, in the number one recommendation read,

"UA High, Hero Course."

"Despite my best efforts to clinge onto my past mistakes... I am still going for it. I realized earlier today.. for the past year, I've been living my life for others. What they want me to do, stepping on egg shells for other's and myself so I wouldn't have to face my actions. But... I want to live. For myself."

The teacher slowly folded the paper as he looked at Michi.

"I'm going to go turn this in to the Director. Afterwards, I'm driving you home young man. It's too dangerous to walk to the Train station in Osaka so late looking like that."

Michi sat down on a bench, rolling his eyes back as he exhaled sharply.. He knew it was going to be a long night of explaining what happened with his father.
