Professor Yamane looked over the images of various dinosaurs being projected on the screen to Tsukioka, Kobayashi, and Shinkichi until he came upon an image that was near identical to the other creature on Iwato Island.

"Are you certain this is the monster you saw?"

"Positive, Dad." Shinkichi replied.

"The Iwato Island monster appears to resemble an Anklyosaurus from the late Cretaceous Era," Yamane announced to the gathered audience. "However, due to its size being comparable to Godzilla's, this creature may have emerged from the same era when Godzilla first appeared, presumably the Permian Era and not the Jurassic Era as we had originally theorized. For the time being, we are to refer to the Iwatoshima monster as Anguirus, after the dinosaur it resembles."

"What about Godzilla?" spoke up an audience member. "Are we certain this is the same one from last year and not another member of the species?"

"It's the same one." Shinkichi replied.

"If it were the case..." the man continued.

"It is." Shinkichi interrupted.

"How could he have survived the Oxygen Destroyer?" the man finally asked. "Given the current state of Tokyo Bay, we all assumed he had dissolved like the marine life in the bay."

"We didn't see a body." Yamane replied. "As for how he managed to survive, Godzilla's own biology defies any known laws of nature. The cells in the skin samples we retrieved from his Tokyo insurgence blown off by artillery fire in '54 show that he is capable of rapid cellular regeneration, which is not found to this degree in vertebrate organisms. Whether this is a result of mutation by the H-Bomb testings or if he's always had this ability has yet to be fully comprehended. It is possible this healing factor might have prevented him from succumbing to the effects of the Oxygen Destroyer."

"Okay, so, we can just find a way around that!" a woman spoke up. "Just create another Oxygen Destroyer, trap Godzilla and this... Anguirus thing, and use it on them."

"If only it were that easy." Yamane replied grimly. "The Oxygen Destroyer's formula was destroyed by its creator, Dr. Serizawa Daisuke, who used his same creation to kill himself as to not be used by more unscrupulous peoples."

"So, what are you saying?" the same woman asked. "If Godzilla or Anguirus were both to make landfall, we'd be defenseless?"

Commander Terazawa stood up and replied for Yamane, "A new plan must be implemented should either monster enter the shores of Japan. For Godzilla, we noticed a few things about his behavior during the 1954 attacks on Shinigawa and inland Tokyo, namely how he seemed attracted to the lights in the city. We could use this to our advantage by using specially deployed flares to lure him away from any populated area."

"What if both monsters were to make their way to a city?" one man asked.

"Given what Tsukioka, Yamane, and Kobayashi have stated," Terazawa confirmed. "The two monsters acted in a territorial manner. If they were to fight in a populated area... the results could be catastrophic."

The commander's comments sent shockwaves through the audience. Afterwards, Shinkichi and the rest of the council had dispersed, Emiko making sure to walk alongside her adoptive brother and her father, already noticing the anxious looks on both of them.
