After dinner
Mirabel was walking back Dolores room when she felt Antonio grab to her dress. Mirabel looked down and smiled to him*
Mirabel:hey toñito what's wrong?
Antonio:Mira can you read to me tonight please
Antonio said using his secret weapon, his puppy eyes. Mirabel instantly melted. Before she could say yes Pepa appeared having overhead what Antonio just said*
Pepa:oh Toñito, you want a goodnight story? Me and felix can read to you
Felix:of course mijo what story would you like?
Antonio;w..well I kinda wanted Mami to read to me
A rainbow appeared on top of pepa's head, felix had a big grin on his face as well both thinking Antonio was talking about Pepa, Antonio looked up at her real Mami who just shrugged taking a step back. Antonio frowned slightly he know he can't call Mirabel mami in front of the family since it will just cause her trouble. So he had to force a smile*
Mirabel:well if that's what you want then ok, I'll read to you next time Toñito
Mirabel kneeled down and gave him her pinky, Antonio smiled a little, his smile becoming more genuine as he gave her his making a pinky promise*
Mirabel:that's a promise that can't be broken
Mirabel got up and started walking to her room while Felix grabbed Antonio and lifted him*
Félix: come on Toñito let's read you that story
Felix and Pepa walked up to there son's room neither saw Antonio looking at Mirabel sadly, that sadness quickly became anger as Mirabel was having small talk with Dolores*
Antonio"I just wanted to spend time with my Mami"
Antonio thought in a silent huff as they walked inside Antonio's jungle of a room and closed the door*
With Mirabel
Mirabel:so, think abuela will make you be with me again tomorrow?
Mirabel asked Dolores as they walked in to Dolores room, Well there room now. Dolores grabbed her own hands and hummed as she looked at Mirabel*
Dolores:probably, all I do is just listen in for gossip so abuela can use it against people, I can do that while I'm with you. So she'll probably just have me do that. I'm gonna take a shower before bed
Mirabel:ok, I'll take one after you
Dolores and Mirabel went there separate ways, Mirabel saw Julieta and Agustín walk inside Isabela room. A small part of Mirabel felt a bit of joy that señorita perfecta was gonna get it tonight, she's slightly sad that she won't be able to see it*
Mirabel:I wonder if Dolores can tell me what they talked about
Mirabel thought out loud with a hum at the end while in the shower Dolores kept and ear out to listen to Isabela and her parents*
In isabela's room
Julieta:cariño we need to talk, can you please come down from there
Isabela:of course Mami
Isabela came down with her vines, flower petals falling down along her Julieta couldn't help but to feel a little annoyed as flower petals fall form to her head*
Julieta"does she always come down like this?"
Isabela:what can I do for the two of you?
Agustin:how about telling us about why you've been skipping school so much to the point that you got held back multiple times?
Isabela:oh that?
Isabela waved her hand dismissively, if it was abuela Isabela would be scared but with her parents? Getting them to see it her way*
Isabela:I didn't see the point of it, I would rather do my chores to the encanto since that's more important then knowing when some island like puerto Rico was discovered
Julieta:Isabela does this looks like a joke to you?
Julieta said coldly with her arm crossed, Isabela was gonna say something but Julieta beat her to the punch*
Julieta:you lied, you told us that you graduated top of your class but you just didn't want to celebrate it, for how long has this been going on huh? What makes you think the encanto is more important then you're education?
Isabela:abuela, i mean she's the one that gives us all our chores and none of them are school related so obviously she doesn't care either, heck she'll love that I placed the encanto before myself and my studies
Julieta:Isabela!
Isabela;come on Mami, it's just a stupid school who cares
Agustín:i would say you're grandmother since she helped build the school for the children of the encanto when the encanto was first founded
Isabela;oh please papi you're making a big deal out of nothing, that school is as waste of time and shouldn't have been build in the first place
Alma:is that how you see it?
Isabela flinched as alma appeared from behind the door having heard everything*
Julieta:mami i said we would take care of this
Alma:Julieta mi vida i love you but you're no Pepa when it comes to giving out punishments
Julieta scoffed even with such a important situation Julieta's sisterly rivalry with pepa lives on*
Julieta: I'll have you know I can give out punishments as good or better then her and her ugly yellow dress
Julieta muttered bitterly as a way a sister can only do*
With pepa
Félix:problema mi amor?
Pepa was rubbing her ear feeling as if it was tingling*
Pepa:no I just suddenly feel the need to slap Julieta for some reason
Back to Julieta
Alma:Uhu, now isabela would you like to repeat what you said to me ?
Isabela;I...I... W...well it is just a school
Isabela said her tone much less confident then before, alma hummed her cold gaze never leaving Isabela*
Alma:you're absolutely right, it's just a school. A school my friend Kevin had build with my help so that the children could have an education, a school he ran for 60 long years before he passed away in his sleep. You insulting that school is insulting Kevin Kaarl and his legacy. So go ahead say it again
Isabela heart was racing as she wanted to look away but knew she would get even more punishment if she did. Alma sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose*
Alma:Isabela, if you were having trouble with classes you could've told us about it. You could've told me and I would've lessen your duties so that you could have time to study,
Agustín:that reminds me we have to talk to Luisa about that too
Alma nodded in agreement but her eyes never left Isabela's person much to her displeasure*
Alma;we will tomorrow make sure to wake up earlier then normally. but she's not in trouble. Isabela is. The education is one thing but bullying your own little sister?
Isabela; I've never done that I swear!
Isabela flinched since now alma wasn't disappointed. No, she was angry*
Alma;and on top of that lying to my face? Since you're teacher said the opposite
Isabela:abuela you have to believe me Gabriela has always hated me!
Alma:enough, I've heard enough.
Alma said coldly her voice devoid a emotion, Julieta trembled a little since she remembered that tone from when she was a little girl*
Alma:you lied about how much I don't know and I'm terrified to know but I will find out how much You've lied to me over the years, you're position as the next matriarch is gone, you're free time gone, you're chores gone I shall give you new ones that will give you a chance to reflect on you're actions, you will be supervised to make sure you don't runaway, your lucky you're wedding 3 months away because before all that you are grounded and not to leave this house without my permission.
Isabela;but abuelita...!
Alma: silence!! And If I hear from Dolores or anyone that You're still bullying your little sister I will grab a stick and hit you with it, don't think you're not to old for me not to put you over my knee And wack your bottom with the stick. I'll figure out who will tutor you tomorrow,
Isabela:mama papa you can't make her do this! Everything I did I did for the encanto!!
Isabela missed it, but alma took a step back and her cold expression changed for a moment to one of shame and regret since that was word for word what alma has said multiple time. Alma grabbed her heart feeling an emotional pain as she shook her head and kept a hard gaze*
Julieta:i agree completely what my mother said,
Agustín:in fact I think she went light on you so be grateful. Alma I'll be the one that keeps an eye on her she's my daughter her failures are our failures
Alma nodded and snapped her fingers, Isabela flinched and looked at her abuela she was horrified with the face alma was giving her*
Alma:that will work. Isabela Angelina madrigal, know that I have never been more disappointed in anyone then I am with you right now
Isabela started to spill tears from her face, All the work she did, everything she has sacrificed to be perfect for her abuela down the drain and it's all Mirabel's fault. As alma and Isabela's parents turned around they didn't see Isabela change from sadness to anger quickly*
Isabela"that stupid giftless is gonna pay for this!!"
With alma
She closed the door to her room and sat down on her bed. She looked at the burning candle as her lip started to quiver*
"Everything I did I did for the encanto!!"
Alma covered her face with her trembling hands and started to weep silently*
Alma:when did I become so blind Pedro? God what have I been doing all this years, how many things have I been wrong about?!
Alma said her tone full of sorrow. Alma didn't see it but casita's cracks became a little smaller, since yes what happen was sad but the first step to recovery is admitting the problem. After a long time crying alma went to sleep her body to old to for all the stress and surprises of the last few days*
Alma: I'll fix things, I have to fix things...
