Epilogue
As the sun bowed down after the day's performance, the Malfoys sat on their bed. Astoria pressed her ear against Draco's steady heartbeat as he ran his fingers through her hair. Her pregnant belly pressed between them, a reminder of the life they were nurturing amidst their fears.
Astoria looked down and caressed her belly, "I am excited and scared at the same time, Draco."
Draco looked down at her in concern, "What's wrong, Astoria?"
Astoria snuggled closer in Draco, sniffling into his chest, "After what happened last time... I can't help but worry! What if... What if we lose this baby too?"
Draco brushed his finger against her cheek, "That was when we married, Astoria. Also, it was a death eater attack. That does not dictate our present circumstances. Even so, we still have each other!"
Astoria gave a watery smile, "Yeah, we've come this far, Draco."
Draco rubbed her back, "Teddy wrote a little poem at his muggle primary school for an assignment for his Aunt Astoria and Uncle Draco. Want to listen?
Eh?" Astoria looked up.
"A note, more like. He says, and I quote:
My aunt and uncle live in a huge Manor. Mum and Dad say that Aunt Astoria and Uncle Draco will buy me big presents when I am older!
He obviously means Hogwarts!" Draco chuckled.
"So adorable!" Astoria's head dropped back into Draco's chest. "I still miss our house at Elm St. Edmund though!"
"Without Harry's expert advice from his experience in renovating Number 12, Grimmauld Place, we would never have been able to live here, Astoria. Besides, our house is Elm St. Edmund is our summer house! We invite the Potters and the Granger-Weasleys every summer, don't we?" Draco said.
Astoria gave a muffled sob, "I didn't even realize when Teddy grew up! I still remember when he first visited our house! He was so small!" She drew a small pattern on Draco's chest, inching further into him.
Draco wrapped his arms securely around her, "True!"
"How is Hermione now? And the baby?" Astoria asked.
Hermione had given birth to a baby girl with red hair and freckles like her father's.
"Needless to say, Ron has forgotten about the rest of the world. He keeps holding his daughter close and kissing Hermione. So, obviously, mother and daughter are doing great!" Draco chuckled. Astoria's chuckles were muffled.
Just then, an owl flew in. Astoria and Draco looked up, the latter taking the letter.
Draco's face split into a wide grin.
"What happened?" Astoria asked.
Draco looked up, "We should say Hi to the newest Potter! Named after Professor Dumbledore and Professor Snape! Albus Severus Potter has arrived in this world. Both mother and baby are doing great! Harry was in the hospital with Teddy and James."
"That's lovely!" Astoria said, her hand on her belly. Looking down, she said, "Our little angel will have company! Lots of support!"
"Come, Harry says his cousin and his family have already arrived!" Draco took her hand.
Together, the young couple left hand in hand.
