Greetings, sorry for taking a while. I accidentally spent a whole week playing Stellaris on a new save… and another on Deep Rock Galactic, also I hope you guys get your NY Aru, Mutsuki, Haruka, or Kayoko… I got two Arus on my 90th roll. Sensei of Rhodes Island

Volume 1: Prelude to Dawn

Chapter 0: Evil Time 1 - Episode 1: Collapsing City

As the group exited the abandoned facility they witnessed the extent of Chernobog's collapse as members of The Reunion Movement ravaged the city, attacking civilians and pushing back the Ursus guard,

"S-so this is the extent of Reunion's riot…" Amiya mumbled as she looked in horror at the situation unfolding.

"After all these years, they've finally shown their true colors…" Dobermann said with a hint of anger "Though unsurprising after our first-hand experience of it just a few moments ago." Dobermann finished with Amiya turning to her saddened.

As they were astonished at the sight of it all the Shittim Chest rumbled in Sensei's coat prompting him to take it out as Plana appeared on the lit screen.

"We should get going it seems they're rapidly accelerating the chaos. If we make it here," Plana marks a location towards their destination, "We'll be safe enough to rest before continuing our way out." Plana informed,

Sensei nodded as the others heard the information "Let's get moving… we can think more about this later." Sensei said to the group to which he was met with several nods or a lowered head, Amiya sighed but nodded in agreement as they continued their way.

As the group continued moving towards the marked location Amiya saw something that caused her to stop in her tracks which Sensei and the rest of the group did too. "Amiya? Why did you…" Sensei asked as he walked towards her and looked at where she was looking at.

She saw a child with a woman who seemed to be her mother in the crowd of Reunion and Ursus civilians, along with a young ursus man defending the two while others continued resisting some having been incapacitated or killed…

Sensei looked at Amiya's troubled expression.

"...We should s-stop them…" Amiya said with sorrow as Dobermann and Sensei went towards her,

"Amiya…" Dobermann called her as she stood beside her.

"I am aware of the risks… Instructor Dobermann… But…" Amiya paused momentarily as she continued looking at the conflict at the square "It's just that we don't have the luxury of sitting around waiting for Reunion to disband…" she continued, "Additionally, nobody knows how long this situation will last…" Amiya explained, "Therefore, the best course of action would be to take out the enemy and get moving. Wouldn't you agree?" Amiya concluded as she looked back at the group.

"I am sure, we'll get through this in no time," Sensei said with confidence nodding at her idea, "I'll give you all the support you'll need Amiya," Sensei said as he pulled the Shittim Chest as it screen lights up.

Dobermann took a moment "Understood I'll follow your command," Dobermann concluded as she took out her whip in preparation. "Everyone Listen up! They don't know we're here yet. So we have the element of surprise." Dobermann informed, "Remember, be decisive! Take them out, clean and swiftly!" Dobermann commanded the Rhodes Island Operators as they got ready themselves.

"Arona, Plana, PRTS prepare for combat," Sensei said as he pulled the Shittim Chest and phone out.

"We'll give it our all! Sensei." Arona says cheerfully determined.
"Mhm, I've already gathered information about the surrounding area, Sensei," Plana says as the map now displays the area in detail.

"Understood preparing Shittim Chest's combat enhancements, Doctor," PRTS said last as she displayed several options.

"I'll command and you take charge, Amiya," Sensei says as he taps the Shittim Chest imbuing Amiya, Dobermann, and two other operators in an aura of hexagon particles. "This'll last for a while but should give us another edge in the fight," Sensei said as they inspected themselves.

"Understood, Doctor," Amiya says as she does one last look back. "Are you all ready?" Amiya asked receiving several nods from the rest of the group. "In that case…" Amiya said as she got herself ready.

"Silent we shall be, should conflict be avoidable,"

"But fight tooth and nail, should it be necessary!."

"Rhodes Island's creed… has always been the same!"

Amiya declared as they prepared themselves for combat.

In a Chernobog Square

"Ugh… get away from… Us!" The Ursus man shouted as he tackled a Reunion member away from the woman and child slowly he began to weaken as more wounds formed from his resistance.

"This is futile, just surrender." A Reunion member said as he began continuing the assault, "Reunion has taken Chernobog, there's nowhere for them to run." He continued as he sliced the man's forearm blocking the blade.
"Even so… Your group attacked us first, I won't just surrender if it means the death of my family." The Ursus man said as he steadied himself for another assault from the rest of them.

"Your stubbornness-" Before the Reunion member could speak and order the rest of their subordinates a sudden crash was heard followed by a shock wave as if something had hit the ground hard causing the ground to crater and knocking away some Reunion members unconscious.

"What the-" the Reunion member shouted out loud before getting knocked out by a shield rim to the face. The dust slowly revealed a Rhodes Island Reserve Defender with hexagonal shapes floating appearing and disappearing around him.

The Defender jumped the remaining members before they could react bashing or punching with his shield until they were knocked out cold. "So this is what it feels like to be enhanced by that tablet…" The Defender said as he looked to the family, particularly the injured man. "I'll try and get our medic here, but in the meantime take care of his wounds alright?" The Defender said as the woman nodded in response.

The Defender nodded back as he went ahead to help the rest who were now engaging in combat, "Doctor, I've taken care of the one attacking the family, I'll go help the rest!" The Defender said as he rushed to the others.

"Understood, the medic should arrive there in a few after helping patch up some of the unfortunate people," Sensei replied as he watched the combat feed. "Amiya, on your left." Sensei alerted as a Reunion member tried going after her,

she turned to face the aggressor and fired her arts knocking them back. "My normal shots weren't that strong…" Amiya mumbled as she felt the effects of the enhancement.

"Amiya, watch out behind you!" Sensei shouted for Amiya alerting her as she dodged an attacker swinging for her before instinctively kicking them in the stomach.

"Ugh… That… Why?" the Reunion member mumbled before passing out.

"I-I think I am fine without these enhancements if we ever get into a fight next time, Doctor…" Amiya sweatdropped as she noticed the results.

"I just wanted to try them out… I didn't know they had such a strong effect…" Sensei replied also sweatdropping, ("Hell… they were used against students WITH incredibly high resilience…") thought as he continued watching the feed.

"This enhancement makes me feel young again," Dobermann said with a smile as she took out another small group with her combat prowess and the Shittim Chest's enhancement "And your commanding is impressive I have to say the least, Doctor." Dobermann complimented Sensei as she headed to the next group to help.

"T-thanks Dobermann…" Sensei half-heartedly laughed, "Medic how are the injured?" Sensei asked as he moved the feed around on the tablet.

"We've managed to get them to the designated safe area… B-but why am I the one carrying them?" Medic replied as she was carrying the father to the area with the help of the enhancement.

"Because I believe you're the right person for it… is all," Sensei said a bit nervously "Nonetheless you're doing your best and that's all I could ever ask for…" he said as he slid his finger around the Shittim Chest. "We're almost done so let's meet up at the safe area Plana marked and where Medic and her team are." Sensei finished before ending communications.

"So… you're from Rhodes Island?" the Ursus man spoke "Heard of em' never really got to see them operate in person… Then again it'd be hard considering you guys are infected." the man said as he coughed. "I am thankful though, the Ursus people don't like infected… Father was one and saw how that turned out in the end."

The man continued attempting small talk but arrived at where the rest of the family were. "Guess I best get back on my feet, My wife… isn't all that receptive to infected but… thank you." The man said as he got off of medic and towards his family.

Medic and her team continued treating or guarding the area as the rest of Rhodes Island arrived and continued helping the civilians while they rested before continuing out of Chernobog.

A few minutes after the battle

"There's a lot more Reunion than expected… But, the battle is at least over… for now. Great work you two" Amiya said to Dobermann and Sensei to which the two nodded as they rested.

"Looks like we also managed to deal with them before they had time to notify the others." Dobermann said as she turned to Sensei "And well done, Doctor. I should review your capabilities more objectively." she finished.

"T-thanks, though I could have done better…" Sensei sweatdropped as he scratched the back of his head, ("I am not used to commanding more than 6 after all… and not this hands-on") Sensei thought as the two looked back to see Amiya heading to the Medic.

"Umm… Medic where's the family?" Amiya asked the medic as she was treating an injured person.

"The family?" The Medic said as she looked at Amiya after finishing her treatment. "They're over there," she said pointing to the family, Amiya nodded as she headed to the family as Medic moved to continue treating the others.

"Are you three okay?" Amiya asked stopping by the family.

"Huh? O-oh, thank you." The mother replied as she cradled her child

"No problem. It's our-" Amiya said as she was interrupted by the woman's sudden change in demeanor after a moment of looking at her, "You... You're also infected?" She says as she holds her child tightly

"It's okay... they're the ones that helped us... I'll take over from here okay?" The Ursus man says to which she nods as he stands up to talk with Amiya. "I'm sorry about that... my wife isn't too trusting of infected... especially after this." He says as he scratches the back of his head.

"It's fine... We'll have to be leaving so I would suggest finding somewhere safe to hide in the meantime..." Amiya suggested to which the father nodded.

"Good to know, I'll get on with it, tell the rest." The man said as he turned to his family. "Come now let's gather some of the others and go on to find a hiding spot." He says as he gathers his family and some other civilians to head out some having brandished some improvised weapons for safety.

"Has everyone gotten enough rest?" Amiya asked as she returned to the group.

"Ah, I'm fine..." Medic says as she treats another Rhodes Island member while several others nod.

"I... watched you and kind of overheard while you were with the family... Why was she afraid of you?" Sensei asked prompting Amiya to sadden.

"Doctor... You've asked a similar question before... it's because I am an infected." Amiya replies before pausing for a moment, "Dobermann and I, and most of Rhodes Island, are as well... even those Reunion members who we just fought..." she continued "We contracted a terrible illness, something that terrifies most people... Oripathy." Amiya finished as she showed her signs of infection to Sensei.

"Those who have contracted Oripathy are called the "infected", " Dobermann started as Sensei turned to her coming over.

"Dobermann..." Amiya mumbled as she turned to her too.

"Ursus has always treated the infected harshly... I mean, who doesn't? Ursus just happens to be particularly cold-blooded about it." Dobermann said as she folded her arms, "Civilians are taught to fear the infected through propaganda, Nobody even bats an eye when the infected are hunted down, and some even cheer for it." She huffed "That's why Reunion chose this place..." She finished looking to the side.

"However... this time, it's not a simple protest anymore..." Amiya spoke up as the conversation continued

"They've begun to resort to large-scale violence, when Ursus puts an end to the rioting. The infected in Chernobog will only face even more cruelty... (Though this is more than just a large-scale riot...)" Dobermann said and thought as she looked back at Sensei "In contrast, with you here, Doctor, perhaps Rhodes Island's situation will improve." Dobermann finished.

"I see... I must be that important huh..." Sensei said as he sweatdropped at the information given.

"Both Kal'tsit and Amiya have mentioned that you are a cutting-edge Oripathy researcher." Dobermann replied, "...But with your memory loss, I doubt whether you'll be of any use again." Dobermann finished causing Amiya, Sensei, and a few operators to flinch

"Ugh... that's way too harsh Instructor!..." Amiya replied as she recovered from the flinch.

"Ugh... That's cruel... and even after you complimented about my capabilities too..." Sensei sweatdropped responding to Dobermann.

"...Perhaps you'll be able to master the theories again after some reviewing, just like how you relearned your commanding skills? After all, you are our field commander... To be honest, I've never thought a neurology doctor could also be a master tactician... But after seeing you, I can somehow understand it." Dobermann said as she scratched her head

"Well... you never know... what other capabilities others have until they show it..." Sensei replied as he shrugged. (Hell... I am not just a teacher either...) Sensei also thought.

"I mean, Rhodes Island itself is very similar to your field of study." Dobermann finished as the sound of running could be heard as they looked back at the group. They witness as Medic tries to administer an injection to a guard operator who is rather squirmish about it. Causing the group to sweatdrop.

"...This is what Rhodes Island does, We're looking for a cure to the infection, as well as mitigating the problems associated with the infected," Dobermann said as she folded her arms again.

"That's right. It is not enough to only conduct research, or only try to resolve conflicts... We must address all of the problems surrounding the infected." Amiya continued "This is the only way for Rhodes Island to give all the infected a chance at survival..." Amiya said as she looked at her rings.

"We understand them better than most others because we, like them, are also infected." Dobermann continued, "No matter who is involved or what is required, Rhodes Island seeks to put an end to the spread of hatred and disease." She pauses before looking at Sensei, "Doctor, perhaps this will be your calling as well... At least, this is my wish." Dobermann finished.

"Your wish... I need some more time to think about this..." Sensei replied ("I'll need Arona to help search for books on neurology or ask Kotori especially... There's a lot I'll need to get to work on once I return to Kivotos") Sensei thought as well.

"We'll give you plenty of time to let all of this sink in," Dobermann replied adjusting her posture a bit. "However, this time is scarce." She continued as she moved forward to the group. "Gather everyone up. We're leaving!" Dobermann announced "Anything could happen on our way to the meeting point!" she finished causing everyone to prepare and gather up to move forward

"Amiya... The situation in Chernobog has become extremely complicated. We can't afford to create more pressure on the rescue team. But..." Dobermann whispered to Amiya with concern,

"How much time... Do we have left?" Amiya replied whispering too,

"...Three hours..." Dobermann Whispered before continuing "After three hours, this entire city will be consumed by the Catastrophe. After that, everything will be over by then." Dobermann finished, Amiya nodded as she looked back at the group.

"Okay, let's hurry up the rescue team can't wait for us much longer!" Amiya says as she looks to Sensei. "Doctor, can you get Plana to tell us our next route," Amiya asked to which Sensei nodded as he held the Shittim Chest up and the screen lit up.

"Plana, We're continuing to move out lead the way!" Sensei requested as Plana popped up

"Understood, if you also would like to know the civilian's situation they've found themselves a location to hide out while the catastrophe passes through the city, Sensei." Plana informed as she was replaced with the map and their route to the rendezvous site.

"Thanks, Plana." Sensei replied as he turned to the group, "Let's get going shall we." he said before the group continued making their way to the rendezvous site.

In The Shittim Chest

"Hey, Plana-chan!" Arona cheerfully says to Plana as she continues watching over the navigation.

"Hello, Arona do you need anything?" Plana replies as she moves some drones around to get a more detailed scan of the upcoming areas

"No... but I've noticed something on the navigation," Arona said as she pointed to a dim red dot that blinked in and out a couple of times on the navigator. "It's been following them for a while now and I am worried..." Arona finished looking back at Plana with concern.

"I've seen it too... I've tried to get a clearer view of it but it disappears before I can, PRTS has also noticed it too." Plana replied as she looked at PRTS.

"Yes, I have... it seems whatever it is, it doesn't want to be spotted. Let's hope it isn't something troublesome." PRTS confirmed as the three now kept a closer eye on the navigator.

Somewhere near Sensei's Group

Crownslayer hid once more as another drone tried to spot her. ("Tsk... How are they this vigilant it's hard trying to keep a good eye on them if these drones continue to act like this...") She thought annoyed as the drone moved away allowing her to continue pursuing the group as she got closer she noticed who was leading them. ("Him?...") She thought before pulling out her communication device.

"We've found some... unknown variables, notify the others now-" She says before being interrupted and cuts it off as a drone returns this time much closer to her spot. It took a few before the drone finally took off. ("Ugh... I am going to wear out my arts if this fucking continues.") She thought to herself before continuing. "Almost got caught by one of their drones... We're going after them." She finishes as she continues sneaking up on the group.

Chapter 0 Episode 2: Discovered

Interlude: The Ruined World

Doctor opens his eyes, to the same old room he's kept himself locked in for a few days now after his meeting with Gematria. Setting himself upright he looks at a device he had set up the past few days... to see it blinking

("Shit... they've got in") Doctor thought as he gathered his equipment to begin heading out. After a few minutes of preparing Doctor took out a map of the areas Gematria had marked for him that would be safe for him to move to it would be updated regularly in case they were also broken into, looking at them it seemed one other one was while he was in his current location.

("I'll head to this one then...") He says as he looks at the safe room southeast of his place, ("Let's hope... you work as they said you would.") he thinks pulling out a Blue and Black credit card with a design matching Rhodes Island before continuing forward.

A few days ago, somewhere between dreams.

"This here took quite a lot of work but as our client, I hope it is of good use to you." Black Suit says as he hands Doctor a credit card which he accepts.

"Is this one of those... Adult Cards?" Doctor asks Black Suit to which he fixes his tie

"Yes, though specifically designed for you. It is capable of replicating any arts you so desire as long as those arts belong to those you know or have experienced first hand." Black Suit explains as he sits beside Doctor.

"I see... so it also can corrupt me if I use too much right?" Doctor asked pointing at it.

"Yes, It can like ours corrupt, and take your time, and life from you." Black Suit clarifies before holding one finger out. "But, unlike us, you are... to say interesting would be an understatement, you seem to be rather long-living compared to us... So I believe its effects might be lesser towards you but of course, even I wouldn't know." He shrugs as he puts his hands together.

"But, it would be rather intriguing to see it work in action when the time comes." Black Suit says looking at Doctor. After a moment he stood up "Sorry, if I made you uncomfortable just now, I hope to see how it'll go for you." He says before disappearing into the unknown once more.

Present day

Doctor continues heading toward his next safe house slowly but surely making his way toward it, He stops as he hears the sound of footsteps coming by. A bipedal Seaborn enters the room it searches around as if it had heard something but finds nothing as it continues patrolling not noticing the Doctor since he had applied Manticore's arts. ("Thank you Manticore... I wish I could continue seeing you again...") He thought as he remembered his days with her as he continued forward.

As Doctor entered another empty building to rest he checked the map to see where he was relative to the safe house, He was a block away from it He'll be able to reach it before nightfall he thought as he closed it and continued on his way.

Doctor stood in front of the building he would be staying in for the next couple of days and looked at his map once more to see its specific location... only to worry as it said it was in the building's basement connected to the sewers. ("There's very few Seaborn here but... I am going to need to ask Black Suit for something better... It's getting dark...") he thought to himself before entering his new safe room he felt something and turned around to see nothing. "Probably my paranoia..." he mumbled as he headed in locking the door behind him.

From afar a hooded person was watching, her face full of sorrow but now a glimpse of hope. "I... I've found you... ugh..." She coughs blood as her infection has gotten worse. "I need a place to..." She thought to herself.

"Maybe you'd like to accept an offer of mine?" A creepy-sounding voice spoke behind her.

In response, she creates an Originium blade pointing at him "W-who are you." She says startled

"No need to fear, I may look unnerving to you but I mean no harm. I am Black Suit, a researcher from Gematria nice to meet you, Amiya of Rhodes Island." Black Suit says formally introducing himself.
