Sesshoumaru's youki wrapped protectively around her before he yanked her to her feet. His mother calmly sipped her tea. "You are merely proving my point, dear son. A trait you both seem to have in common."

Kagome looked between them, biting her lip. "I didn't tell her anything," she said.

"You would not need to," he replied softly, the stripes on his cheeks darkening.

Inukimi chuckled. "Was I not correct in my assessment, Kagome?" She didn't get a chance to answer as Sesshoumaru dragged her away, Ah-Un padding alongside. "We must have tea again before I leave!" she called after them, the promise only deepening his scowl.

"I promise I didn't go looking for her," Kagome repeated once they'd passed through the shiro's doors. "Ah-Un even tried to stop me, but she'd hidden her aura, and then she thought you'd sent me to her on purpose to pour her tea, and—"

"I would not put it past her to have sought you out on purpose," he growled, his grip only tightening.

She shook her head. "I don't think so. She was kind of condescending in the beginning. It wasn't until I mentioned my name that she forced me to stay."

He finally stopped, dragging a hand down his face. "I will never hear the end of this," he muttered.

She was enjoying the proximity, her skin tingling where he held her, but she needed to know if everything his mother had told her was true. "Because you like to talk about me?"

The colour from his stripes spread to his ears before he resumed his long stride toward his room. "You may have come up now and then," he admitted.

"Liar." Sesshoumaru bristled as they reached his door, and she grabbed his collar, pulling him down so she could steal the kiss they'd been denied earlier.
