She found she enjoyed teasing him, especially now that he saw no reason to hide his reaction, and she managed to get in a parting shot about how she'd be waiting for him when he got back. He'd been in the middle of leaving the room, his hand clenching against the wood before he shot her a scathing glare.

Body buzzing with anticipation, she waited until the sun set before venturing to the springs, scrubbing herself clean with the same supplies she'd used before. Twisting her hair to one side so she didn't have to wait for it to dry, she made her way back to his room, running into Jaken along the way.

He caught the edge of the tray he was carrying, lifting his chin as he walked next to her. "Sesshoumaru-sama said humans usually eat around this time."

"Wasn't it the same with Rin?" she asked. She knew Jaken had taken a more prominent role in caring for the girl, especially in the beginning, so it wasn't like he lacked first-hand knowledge.

"Rin ate whenever there was food available," he sniffed, giving her a side glance. "And was grateful for it."

"How long did it take her to start asking for more?" Kagome asked with a snicker.

Jaken bristled, stomping his feet as much as he could without spilling the tray's contents. "She knew better than to make selfish demands!"

"Oh," Kagome said, unable to hide her grin. "So you figured it out on your own! Good for you. You must have amazing observation skills." He didn't know how to take the compliment, bulbous eyes continuing to glare as she passed by the room he'd given her earlier.

"Are you not hungry?" he asked.

"Famished!" she replied without turning around. "But I'm staying in Sesshoumaru's room from now on. Per his request." It took everything in her not to keel over as Jaken turned into a sputtering mess.
