Two days later after the twins were introduced to Barf and Belch.
Astrid hang around Stormfly playing fetch with a wooden stick.
Ryder walks upto them and comments "you two seem to be getting along."
Astrid grins "it feels good to play with Stormfly."
Ryder smirks "wait until you fly on her back."
Astrid curious says "I want to duel you."
Ryder smirks "really? You want to duel me?"
Astrid scowls "Ryder, don't make me have to punch you."
Ryder comments "alright, Astrid."
Stormfly stood by her cage while Ryder and Astrid engaged in a duel.
Ryder and Astrid trade strikes and blocks with swords.
For an hour later, the gang came to the arena to see Ryder and Astrid dueling in the arena.
Snotlout ask "if I couldn't beat Ryder, what makes you think you can beat him, Astrid?"
Astrid disarmed Ryder and says "I win."
Ryder grabs the sword and pulls her into him to knee her in the stomach.
He then twist her arm to make her drop the sword.
Next he kick behind the knee to make her drop to her knees.
He wraps his arms around her neck and force her to fall on him in a sleeper hold.
Astrid can't break the hold and forfeit by tapping the stone floor.
Ryder release her and says "I'm well trained."
Astrid gets up and says "you should know that my runes said I would marry the first man who beat me in a duel. Congratulations, Ryder. You won my hand in marriage."
Ryder ask "what about Hiccup, your betrothed?"
Astrid smirks "your a warrior and Queen slave. I owe Hiccup for breaking his heart so I want to marry him. If he would just return."
Ryder comments "when he feels worthy to the villagers, he'll return."
Astrid grins "I believe he was worthy all along. I just didn't realize it."
Ryder hugs her.
Snotlout scowls "hey! Hands off my future wife!"
Ryder scoffs "Snotlout? Astrid is allowed to hug any boy she wants too."
Next day, Astrid challenge Ryder to a sword and shield duel.
Astrid lost the duel.
Next day, they had a rematch against Meatlug.
Fishlegs started commenting Meatlug with affection into submission.
Next day, Stoick and the warriors returned from the search for the dragon nest.
Stoick ask "where's Ryder?"
Gobber answers "probably in the arena dueling Astrid. They seem to be courting through dueling for some reason."
Stoick sighs "I want him arrested for destroying five of our ships! He can't be trusted."
Gobber comments "a guest came here and been staying in your house."
Later on, Snotlout came upto Stoick and says "uncle? I want to marry Astrid Hofferson."
The warriors stare in shock.
Astrid spied on the warriors and left to find Ryder before Stoick does.
Ryder was in the forge working on repairing weapons when Stoick arrived at the forge "Ryder!"
Ryder jumps in scare "Stoick Haddock?! Did you need something?"
Stoick scowls "get out here! Your under arrest!"
Ryder sighs "great."
Astrid interrupts them "Chief!"
Stoick grumbles "not now, Astrid!"
Astrid comments "Chief? If you're planning to arrest Ryder, he fell under the influence of the queen dragon at the nest. Because he came here and destroyed Snotlout's and twins houses before me and my mom subdued him."
