New Year's Eve. Pride Ring of Hell.
Song Playing on the Car Radio: 'DEVIL' by Shinedown.
"Remind me why, I am here again Vaggie?"
We cut to show a car pulling up outside of one of Valentino's nightclubs. Inside the car. We see the hired hit demon sitting in the car. Answering the earlier question Snow had asked after he had turned off the stereo. Vaggie answers from her end of the phone.
"The Marconi family has wired you money for your services today Snow. They want you to provide security for Angel Dust. Also, since Valentino hasn't paid up his protection money this month. He wanted you to make him disappear."
"How much did Don Marconi say he was going to wire to my account Vaggie?"
"You're looking at two hundred grand, Snow. This is because of the overlord's being protected by Lucifer. And, some of his guards are in the overlord's back pocket. No one can touch him. But, because you're classed as a mercenary. You can touch him."
Snow nods to confirm he understands. He was classed as the clean-up crew since he worked on the side away from his job at the immediate Murder Professionals. Loading Mistress. Snow continued with what was on his mind.
"How does Marconi want me to do this? Does he want him whacked? Or, does he want him begging for his scummy life?"
"Both."
Snow nods. With his gun in its holster and, his suit on after getting changed out of his casual clothes in the back of his car. He exits the car after the phone is hung up on both ends of the line.
Valentino's Nightclub
Song Playing Inside The Nightclub: 'Demon's Smile' by Semargi.
Once he got passed the bouncer at the door. Snow walks into the den of sin without a second thought to his actions. If it meant he could go home to his wife and kids after the job was done. He wouldn't hesitate to curb-stomp Valentino into the dirt.
At The Bar
Making his way over to the bar. A drink was soon in his hand before he began scanning the strip club he was inside. He would soon find the moth demon pimp sat in his own private V.I.P. area surrounded by many a beautiful demoness. His attention would soon be caught by the female bartender when she asks.
"What brings you here tonight sir? Business or pleasure?"
Snow acknowledges the female who tried to get his attention with one-word responses.
"Business."
The bartender was weirded out by the male drinking his whiskey. Getting back to work when she knew she wasn't going to get any answers from the male. Snow kept his eyes where they needed to be while sitting in his seat. He had caught sight of his target talking with his floozies and bodyguards who were with him during tonight's turnout for Angel Dust's performance.
Snow knew it wasn't the right time to confront Valentino about Marconi's protection money. No, he had his timescale to work with when it came to his jobs as a freelance killer. Or, in his case tonight. Master negotiator.
"Listen up, scumbags. Put your hands together for a Valentino main attraction. Here is, Angel Dust!"
Song Change: Opening to the Song Playing In The Background: 'Addict' by Silvahound ft. Michael Kovach
That was Snow's cue to go and blend in with the crowd near the stage. Making a move towards his target for the night. He makes sure to take a seat as close as possible to the stage. Tonight, the hybrid with the snow-white hair wasn't going to mess around.
He wasn't complaining one bit about the front-row view he had. When the demons and demonesses saw who was pushing through them to get to a good seat. They quickly dispersed to allow the male through. They didn't want to be on the end of one of his swords. And, they certainly didn't want to end up riddled with bullets.
A drink was brought to him when Angel made his entrance onto the stage. It should have been business as usual with the usual pervy patrons admiring Angel Dust. But, when his eyes clapped onto the male in the front row. His mind began internally screaming while his body was busy performing what was required of him. Then again, if Snow was here. That meant Angel could entice the one demon who, in Angel's life, had never slept with him.
Valentino's Booth
"Boss."
"What is it?!"
Valentino says in annoyance at being interrupted from watching his pet perform on the stage. Noting he needed to be quick with what he wanted to say. He whispered into Valentino's right ear. The words the guard had spoken made Valentino go pale with dread. Scanning the crowd, and seeing a touch of snow-white hair watching his prized performer with a neutral expression on his face. Understandably, he orders.
"He does not leave my club alive! Do you understand?!"
The bodyguard nods. He spoke down his earpiece to get the other guards' attention while walking away. Valentino sat with a cocky smirk on his face at the prospect of ending the 'Snowy Assassin'.
Back With Snow
Snow was just happy to be noticed by Angel Dust from the spider demon's spot on the stage. His neutral expression hadn't changed while the spider demon was performing. He just sat with his whiskey in the glass in his left hand whilst enjoying the show. Out of the corner of his eye. He had spotted Valentino's glare at his prized performer dancing in front of Snow. This caused a small smirk to tug at the demon's lips angering the moth demon pimp.
'See something you don't like bitch?'
Those were the words on Snow's mind after turning his gaze toward his target. Luckily, Angel couldn't read the male's expression while dancing for the horny crowd in front of him. Getting down onto all fours and, crawling towards Snow. Angel whispers.
"You've got my boss rattled, Snow."
Snow lets out a rare chuckle in response. Good. At least, in Snow's eyes it was. How was Angel supposed to know the snow-white demon was under contract from his mafia family father? That was until Snow utters.
"Don Marconi hasn't received his protection payment from your boss, Angel. Mind getting me an audience with mothra other there?"
Angel's eyes widened in surprise and, a little bit of horror at what the male had said. He was a hired goon tonight?! No wonder Angel saw Snow wave off the bar demonesses and, other patrons, that tried it on with him. He was going on the warpath for Angel's father.
"You'll be lucky. Valentino doesn't like being disturbed after I've performed."
Snow caught the hint of fear in Angel's voice when he mentioned Valentino didn't like being disturbed after his star had performed. Catching the angered version of Snow's blank expression. Angel knew he'd dropped his boss further into the shit with the demon in the front row. Shaking off the haunting glare of Snow so he could continue to perform. Angel knew a fight would break out. And, deep in his gut. Valentino wasn't going to be leaving with his head.
Later On Backstage (End Song)
Sneaking into the backstage area was a piece of piss for the hired gun. He easily dispatched the goons with non-lethal takedowns and, he made sure to scare off anyone that would interrupt him collecting the protection money Don Marconi was owed. Standing by the door he heard a crash and raised voices. Snow decided to leave his weapons by the door for his brother to collect for him later. He didn't need to, needlessly, stain his weapons with Valentino's blood. He would let his hands do the talking.
Kicking open the door, and barging into the scene of Valentino about to forcibly fuck Angel Dust. Wasting no time upon his forced entry. Snow decks the pimp in the mouth with a straight right hand. Sending the moth demon sprawling to the ground and clutching his mouth in anger.
"WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE?!"
That was a mistake to yell at Snow. He soon regretted his words when he saw the snow-white demon stalking slowly toward the moth demon while cracking his neck and knuckles. Valentino wouldn't get the chance to react when he was forcibly lifted off of his feet by his fur coat to look Snow dead in the eyes. When was held in place in mid-air, Snow spoke.
"Where's the Don's money you slimy cunt. You're behind on protection money for this month!"
"I was on my way to pay him after the club closed, Snow. I swear!"
SMACK
Like the crack of a whip. Snow's forehead slammed into Valentino's face with enough force to break a thousand brick walls. Clutching his face now from his spot on the floor after Snow let him go. Valentino tried to reach for his gun. Only for Snow to punt him square in the face with a kick an American football player would be proud of. Seeing the now begging moth demon begging for his life. Snow continues.
"Last chance, Tino. Pay up."
Valentino points towards the safe in the far corner of Angel's dressing room. Smirking at breaking Valentino to the point of him begging for mercy. Snow made his way over to the safe. Opening it with ease. He grabs the bag from the safe before closing it. Turning to face the moth demon, he says lowly.
"Don Marconi sends his regards…"
While Snow had his back turned to walk out of the dressing room with the cash. Angel spots his boss pulling a knife from his coat when he stands up. Knowing what Valentino planned to do, he called out.
"SNOW, WATCH OUT!"
Angel had warned Snow just in time. Because, when Snow heard the call from the male stripper. He dodged to the side without warning. Causing Valentino to lose his balance during his lunge to try and stab Snow. Without a word, Snow brought his knee crashing into Valentino's face. The force was so strong from the shot. It relinquished Valentino's head from his shoulders. While the head that wore the shattered star sunglasses rolled around on the floor, Snow utters.
"… Asshole."
Angel just stood in shock at what he had just witnessed. His boss was dead. And Snow just stood with no remorse on his features at what he had just done to the overlord. Looking at Angel with a softened gaze. He says.
"Angel. Once I leave here. You need to get the hell outta dodge. I don't want the overlords giving you shit for Valentino's sake."
Snow says this with a calm expression on his features when he leaves Angel with the body of Valentino. The spider demon didn't need to be told twice. Thanking Snow with a nod of his head. Angel made a run for it.
Outside Valentino's Club
Walking out of the door towards his car. He places a call on his scarephone to the demon who'd hired him for today's job. Once a voice answers him. He speaks.
"Don Marconi. The job's done."
"Did you make him suffer for making me out to be a mook, son?"
"As you ordered, Marconi. Valentino sleeps with the fish. Also, I've dropped the money off with one of your collectors. The money and Valentino's head should be with you shortly."
The don couldn't believe his ear at what the cold hybrid had said to him. Being impressed by the male's handiwork. he says.
"You've done a great service today, Lazarus Snow. With the moth demon overlord dead. I won't have to deal with his threats any longer."
Eric allowed a pause before the don continued.
"As a reward for your service to me. Two hundred grand, just as I agreed with your handler before she brought you in, has been wired to your account."
"Of course. Thank you, Don Marconi. Take care."
He hangs up his phone after bidding the Don adieu. Eric scrolls through his contacts to find the number he was looking for. Eventually, I found Loona's number. He begins texting her to let her know he is on his way home.
Home
Dropping his duffel bag down on the wooden floor below him upon entering the condo that night. The male merely sighs happily at the fresh smell of bathroom products entering his nostrils. He knew someone was using the bathroom just from the scent alone. Heading over to the kitchen. And, heading over to the fridge. He pulls out last night's Chinese. I decided against warming it back up. He decides to just eat it straight from the carton.
Slumping down on the couch with a soft thump. Eric merely smiles lowly before turning on the TV and eating last night's noodles. There, plain as day on the news, was Valentino's club. Freshly raided and, with the owner now dead thanks to him. He says in his mind.
'Let's hope that sent a message to the rest of the overlords.'
"Babe, you home?"
Speaking of the voice he heard from the bathroom. Appearing in just a towel around her body and hair. Loona walked towards the male sitting on the couch. Greeting him with a kiss, she says as she walks towards their bedroom.
"Austin came over with Mercedes earlier. He came to ask what you and I were doing tomorrow evening."
"Why'd they ask that babe?"
At this point, Loona was in their bedroom changing into some comfortable clothes she wore around the condo. Plopping herself down beside her husband and cuddling into him, she replies.
"Well, Austin didn't want to say. But, Mercedes said it was so we could, FINALLY, meet Mercedes' parents for dinner."
Eric looked at the hellhound like she was crazy. But, seeing the look the hybrid was giving her, she clarified.
"I thought the same thing too Snow. But, when I asked, Mercedes merely said it was because her mom and dad wanted to meet the demons that had gotten our son out of the orphanage with Wyn. With how Mercedes described her dad. He is someone who has made a name for himself in the Greed Ring. She barely spoke about her mom before the two left."
Eric merely nods whilst still eating his food. Noting her husband hadn't responded with words, she asked.
"Did you even listen to a word I was saying?"
Eric nods again before replying.
"I was listening Loo. But, something seems off with Mercedes' dad. Our son and Mercedes have almost been together for three years. And, not once has Austin met her mom and dad. Something seems off. And, it's waving a massive red flag in our faces."
That thought did strike Loona as weird. Three years into a relationship. And, their son hadn't met his girlfriend's parents? Something did seem fishy. Granted, it was two years before Loona met Cassiel and Kai. But, at the same time, it made the couple laugh when Snow spoke as he was getting up after he'd finished his food.
"Just glad Winter and Eliza aren't in Austin's situation by bringing boys home. I'd be breaking so many legs."
Loona laughs loudly at her husband's statement. Once the noodle carton was in the trash bag beside the kitchen cupboard nearest the refrigerator. The hybrid walked over to Evie in her bouncy chair. He is silly with his one-year-old. Eric couldn't help the smile he had on his face at his daughter laughing and smiling up at him.
His moment playing with his daughter was interrupted by the sound of something in the distance. With something playing on his mind. He calls to Loona.
"Babe. What time did Winter and Liz say they'd be home from their shifts?"
"They said they'd be home late, Snow. About ten o'clock."
Sirens Blaring Louder
The moment those cursed sirens blared to alert the denizens that the extermination was happening once again. It made Loona's eyes widen in horror when she realized what was going on. The girls weren't home to take cover and stay safe. Meaning the two sisters were wide open to an attack from God's parasites.
Loona didn't get a chance to speak before Cassiel and Kai stormed into the condo. Breathing heavily and, with the two covered in angel blood. Kai speaks in fury.
"Fucking holy beings! They ambushed Cass and me on our way here!"
Eric was just glad his parents were safe. But, he had to break the news to his mom and dad about the girls. Unluckily, Cassiel beat him to it by asking.
"Snowball. Where are my granddaughters?"
Loona spoke up to answer the elder while handing Evie to Cassiel.
"They're still at work. Their shifts haven't finished yet!"
Cassiel looked at her husband with eyes wide in horror. Luckily, Kai knew what to do. Grabbing his old-fashioned scare phone from his pocket. He calls up Charlie while Snow and his mom try to calm down a crying Evangeline. It only took a few minutes before Kai spoke.
"Charlie is keeping Liz overnight at the hotel. She's safe."
If their troubles didn't multiply. They were about to when a certain ringtone played announcing Snow's stepfather calling him. Loona, Cassiel, and Kai all recognized the tone as the song that plays when the Goetia prince calls Snow. Answering, he hears a panicked Stolas ask.
"Snow, is Octavia with you and Loona?"
"We haven't seen her, Stolas. Unless… oh no."
"Son?"
Loona knew that look anywhere from her husband. She had her fears confirmed when Snow asked.
"Wasn't Octavia picking Winter up tonight because she was staying at yours tonight, pops?"
The sound of the line going dead told Snow all he needed to know. They'd cut the line until the extermination ended. Meaning, that the male only had one other option. He was going to try and save his daughter and sister. Turning to Loona, he says evenly whilst trying to avoid the panic in his tone.
"Loona, you're with me. Mom, Dad. Stay with Evie. Make sure none of those freaks get to you three."
Cassiel is about to ask where Snow is going. Only for Kai to place a reassuring hand on his wife's shoulder. Looking to his son and his daughter-in-law. He nods before saying.
"Good hunting Snow, Loona. Go save Winter and Octavia."
With a nod. And, handing Loona his pistol named Mistress. The married combination of hound and hybrid sprinted out of the door.
Somewhere Else
The mall in Hell was locked down tight for the extermination hours. But, the moment the angels had overwhelmed the mall security in charge of protecting the mall. And, the denizens within had been slaughtered. Things were looking messy for any surviving denizen within the building.
Two such denizens were lucky to have survived. And, had just witnessed everyone getting killed, was Octavia and Winter. The owl demon had taken refuge behind the counter at Stylish Occult with her niece. Winter, who was scared shitless at this point, was trying to stop herself screaming in horror at what she'd witnessed. Luckily for Winter, her aunt, with crowbar held firmly within her hands, was trying not to breathe and alert the angels to their presence within the store itself.
"Wyn. I'm going to need you to stay low and stay close to me sweetie. We'll get out of this."
Winter nods in reply to Octavia's whisper.
It should have just been a normal New Year's Eve day for the owl princess visiting her niece at work. But, when the siren had gone off to alert her, the staff, including Winter, and the other shoppers to the angels beginning the extermination of Hell. Well, since witnessing the slaughter of the hundreds around her. She had managed to grab Winter and run to cover in the store they were in now to avoid detection. When they had gotten into the said store to hide. Octavia was lucky to find the crowbar she was now holding for dear life. Winter had to use a pocket knife she got for her sixteenth birthday.
Since the cellular services were down until the extermination ended at midnight. The twenty-two-year-old princess hadn't been able to call her dad, or her brother-in-law, for help. Now, she had to contend with her niece who felt alone and scared at the fact she could die without seeing her father one last time to tell him how much she loved him.
So far, so good. No angel had spotted them during their sweep of the mall. Earning Octavia a small victory at being stealthy. Except, when the two stood up, Winter accidentally knocked over one of the glass taxidermy displays within the store. Causing the older female to freeze in fear and hope none of the angels had heard the noise Winter had caused. No such luck would be given to the females when a holy round narrowly missed Octavia's head. Causing the owl to grab her niece's hand and run for it after decapitating one of the unlucky angels with her crowbar and bolting for the exits.
Exits
Once the two reached an exit and found that the door had been chained and bolted up tightly. Octavia tried rattling the doors to open them. But, once the youngest female knew it was hopeless. She soon began to cry in fury with tears rolling down her cheeks from her red eyes now she knew she was done for when she shouted out.
"SHIT! SOMEBODY HELP US!"
With their backs now to the door and angels advancing on the young adult and the teen. Octavia held up her crowbar as one last act of defiance to fight to her last breath to protect herself and her niece. Only, something else had stopped the owl and hound from dying on this night. And, it was from an unexpected source.
Song Play: Sonne by Rammstein (Guardian Angel Appears).
With a Gewher. 45 rifle picking up head shots on the unsuspecting angels that were surrounding the females. The male jumps down from his perch on the ledge of the open window. During a break from the gunfire, the angel asks.
"Hey ladies, are you both hurt?"
Octavia risked a peek to get a look at her saviour who, once his gun was reloaded, was now picking off more angels with his semi-automatic rifle. The two watched as the male began using one-rounded bursts like a sniper rifle to defend the owl and hound from their incoming deaths with speciality angel killing rounds. With new confidence to help out. Octavia nodded as she decided to help her saviour by using her crowbar to swing for the fences and take out an angel that tried to get the jump on the unknown angel that was helping her and Winter.
Once there was enough time to react. The unknown angel activated something on his belt that began flashing blue. Causing Winter to worry that their saviour was going to betray them. And, he was calling more angels to kill them. When she tried to ask what he was doing. The male spoke while reloading.
"Don't worry, sweetheart. This only transmits to my old squad commander who lives here in Hell."
Once the fresh clip was inside the gun. And, without missing a beat, the fight for survival for the angel, the owl, and the hound continued with the horde that had now arrived to take the place of their fallen comrades.
To say they were outnumbered heavily was the understatement of the millennium. Octavia, Winter, and the mystery angel, who was their defender, were holding their own against the relentless horde that was trying to get to their targets that had occupied the top floor of the mall. Only to either be mown down by the rifle-wielding angel, have their heads caved in, or taken off by the crowbar-wielding owl. Or, have their throats slit by the pocket knife-wielding hound?
Even though Octavia had seen countless horror movies where the horde always got to their victims. Something felt different for the owl compared to the fate of the actors in any of those movies. For one, to say she had only just decided against the option of flight to stand and fight with her niece and protector. She was doing well to hold her own against the relentless angels. But, with the efficiency of the angel beside her and the hound trained by her brother-in-law. She was amazed at how quickly they were picking off the angels that she couldn't see in time. Octavia felt a sense of calm peace fall over her at how safe she felt.
She snaps out of her thoughts when she hears the angel behind her yell.
"Damn it! I'm almost out of rifle ammunition!" The angel turns to Octavia. "HEY! How long until our backup arrives?!"
Without any hesitation to her movements. Octavia quickly grabs the communicator and notices her protector has one new voice message on the screen of the communicator in her hands. Something which she read out loud the message the angel wanted to hear.
"Hold on, Dex. Snowman is on the way!"
Wanting to question the angel about who Snowman was. The minute her thoughts went elsewhere, she had no time to react the moment an unseen spear nicked the skin of the hound beside her. Dropping her to the floor and, causing her to hold her arm in pain and drop the knife from the effect of the holy water that was, now, slowly poisoning her blood. It would eventually kill her if it wasn't treated in time. As shown by her yelp of pain and her voice shouting to her aunt.
"AARGH! DAMN IT, THAT HURTS!"
That was enough to put the angel's protector mode into overdrive to protect the owl demon and, what he assumed, was her niece who was sitting against the chained doors. While she was holding her arm. Dex the teen was getting sicker by the second her wound was left to fester and get worse without being treated.
"Come on, Commander Lazarus. Where the fuck are you?!"
Despite his best efforts. The guardian angel soon had to rethink his strategy for his, the owl's, and the hound's survival when they started to be overwhelmed by the horde. With quick thinking. And, with a pump kick to an angel that sends the parasite skittering into the other angels trying to get to the two who were still standing. The male soon puts his new plan into effect after kicking the angel away. He picks the female hound up onto his shoulders into a fireman's carry before throwing a grenade into the crowd. They soon make a break for the stairs that lead to the roof following a huge explosion.
As the angel thought this would be his last stand and he would die a hero. Two worried parents had other ideas after they had seen the explosion as the signal to save the day.
Rooftop (End Song).
Gently placing down a sickly-looking hound onto the gravel roof of the mall. And, after barricading the door to stop the angels from getting to the guardian and his protected girls. Octavia runs over to Winter while the male checks on her with a tourniquet at the ready when the owl gently says.
"Come on Wyn. Stay with me, sweetie! Don't fall asleep on me!"
Winter feels herself shiver violently when she looks at her aunt weakly before saying.
"I don't want to go, Aunt Octavia. I don't want to go away."
This is when the male steps in.
"Just stay with us, kid." He turns to Octavia and asks. "Does your niece have a name, Octavia?"
"Her name…". The sound of Winter coughing violently breaks Octavia's focus. Once she manages to help Winter catch her breath, she tries again. "Her name is Winter Snow. And, you are?"
With a smirk, the angel says confidently.
"My name, right now, isn't important Octavia. What is important, however, is that I wrap up your niece's wound and keep you both safe until my backup arrives to help me get you both to safety. Once that happens. They can treat your niece's wound better than I can."
Winter weakly looked at the wound that was now oozing puss and blood. Causing her to look in weak confusion about how a mere scratch could infect her so quickly. Seeing the quizzical look on her face about how something so small could kill the hound, the angel clarifies.
"That mere scratch you got, Winter. That was from a holy spear sweetheart. If that weapon would have struck true and hit your arm fully, or anything vital. I would have had to cut your arm off to stop the spread of infection. Or, I would have had to put you out of your misery. You're lucky to only escape with your arm, or your body for that matter, still intact."
The minute the angel says this. Octavia surprises the male and pulls him into a hug with tears now falling from her eyes at being told her niece could die. Something that, if the angel had learned anything from his commander in the one-hundred-eighty-nine angel task force. It was that no angel should ever have to witness a member of the opposite sex weeping in pain or fear for their life.
Before the angel could reciprocate the hug. The sound of horrific screeching and the bending of metal soon caught the male and the injured female's ears and the face of one of the angels trying to break through made Octavia cling closer to the male beside her who gladly obliged to hold Octavia close.
Just as the angels prepared another attack they stared down their next victims with their teeth bared. Octavia shook in fear when she saw the jaws of the angels were filled with bloodstained white teeth as sharp as diamonds.
With blood dripping from all of their mouths at the victims they had killed before looking to kill the two that had chosen to fight back. The angel, who at this point in his defence, can only raise his gun while the angels slowly stalked towards him and Octavia because he was holding said owl into his side. Preparing for the worst while being sized up for the finishing kill. The angel protector noticed he still only had one in the chamber before cocking the pistol he had the only ammunition left for. He raises his hand with the gun pointing at the first angel to attempt to charge him. He shouts.
"BRING IT ON FUCKERS!"
That's all it took for the angels to lunge at the two protecting Winter. And, for the angel to get ready to shoot the oncoming attack down. Only, the impact of a spear or bullets embedded into his and Octavia's flesh hadn't reached him then. It was also the moment when someone unexpected had stopped the attack from reaching the angel and the owl demon protecting the sickly hound.
"HEY ASSHOLES!"
The angel looked up and sighed in relief at the voice that had shouted while Octavia held a shaking Winter firmly in her arms while the saviours of her saviour landed on the roof and took down the charging angels effortlessly. With his burning chain spear and the female hound making mincemeat with her claws. And, once there was enough breathing room. The male spoke down his communicator and said calmly.
"Balthazar, this is Snowman. I have the targets with me now. one wounded, one safe. And, one dumbass that can't stop saving pretty girls."
"That sounds like Dexter, Lazarus. Always the ladies' man." Laughs. "Bring them back to your place in one piece Lazarus. We will tend to the wounded, over."
"Protect a jackass and his protected. Then get back to Homebase. Copy that Balthazar."
That last part, which was heard by the angel named Dexter who was cradling Octavia, looked at his former commander. He gave Snow the middle finger before laughing at the banter between old squadmates. Their laughter was soon short-lived when more angels decided to interrupt the reunion between the former commander and his former subordinate. With more ammo handed to Dex by Snow. And, handing Octavia his other pistol named Persephone. The four began to fight off the angels while they awaited extraction by Stolas' Grimoire portals back to his apartment.
Simple enough right?
Luckily, the two males and two females only had to last a couple of minutes before a sound Snow was happy to hear rang throughout the Pentagram. Making the four sigh in relief when the fireworks went up into the night sky from Charlie. When the clock struck midnight to announce a new year. And, as the angels ascended back from whence they came. It left a heavily breathing Snow, Loona, Octavia, and Dex to collapse to the floor in exhaustion and smile at a job well done.
After Snow caught his breath. The first thing he did was to tend to the female hound by the wall of the roof that was, thankfully, still lightly breathing and sleeping peacefully when he pulled out his medical supplies and removed the tourniquet Dex had placed on his little girl's upper arm to subdue the bleeding for now. He needs to get his daughter's attention. Snow gently shakes the female awake and says softly.
"Wyn? it's me, your dad. Can you hear me, baby?"
The hound stirs weakly to the sound of her dad's voice. And, despite the bleary vision, she nods her head and replies.
"Dad?"
Snow sighs in relief that he hasn't lost his daughter to death's embrace. He begins the procedure by using a pin that was in his medical bag. And, with the tiniest prick of his finger. A small, but sizeable, amount of blood dripped from into the open muzzle of the female from her dad. Just as the legend went. Since Snow's species were a rarity. Their blood is said to contain healing properties to cure holy water poisoning within demons. Except imps.
What didn't surprise the two males, however, was how slow reacting the poisoning was to Winter's immune system. With how quickly the poison of the holy water was being treated. Normally, when a demon comes into contact with holy water. They are pretty much dead on arrival. But, as mentioned, Dex had bandaged the wound and disinfected it before Snow used his blood. Winter would just be in a deep sleep for a couple of hours to allow the poison to leave her system thanks to the blood she had ingested.
Once his job was done. Eric placed a call to his Goetia father-in-law to get them safely back home.
Snow and Loona's Home, Hours Later.
With Winter now resting in her bed thanks to Cassiel tucking her in. Eric had contacted Winter's brother and sister. And, within seconds, the door that had once been barricaded had now flung open to reveal a panicking Austin and Eliza after Snow had contacted them both by phone. The first words out of his oldest son's mouth were words Snow expected to hear from a sibling who was worried about their little sister.
"WYN?!"
Seeing his mom and dad outside Winter's room. He asks in a panic, Eliza not far behind him.
"WHERE'S WINTER? IS SHE OK? IS SHE SAFE?"
Snow sighs in knowing while Loona smiles at the look she knew all too well from her husband. Austin was just a concerned big brother. Plus, after finding out his baby sister had been caught out in the extermination while the phone lines were down, well. You'd be panicking too if one of your beloved kid sisters was at risk of being hurt or killed. And, you were powerless to do anything to save them.
"Oz, stop panicking. Your grandma just put Winter to bed. She is resting after she had a run-in with some angels with your aunt Octavia. If you like, you can both go and see her in her room."
The minute the word 'room' left the hybrid father's mouth. Austin and Eliza took off like a shot towards the room Snow had indicated while Genesis trailed behind the panicking siblings.
Outside Winter and Eliza's Room.
The minute the two males and female were stood outside Winter's shared room. Eric placed a hand over his lips to tell the hound and Eliza to keep their volume down since their sister was sleeping. Opening the door for the concerned siblings. Eric and Loona allowed their oldest two kids to enter the room.
Winter's Bed in Eliza and Winter's Room
The minute the tall hound sees Winter sleeping peacefully with a slow breath escaping her lips. Snow sees Austin and Eliza sigh in relief that their sister would live another day after the scare they'd suffered today. However, the minute Snow left the room to give his oldest kids the chance to see their sister while she was peacefully sleeping. Eliza wept silently and took her sister's hand while Austin hovered over them.
With no more words being needed. And, for the rest of the night while Eliza sat silently weeping in a chair she had pulled up to her sister's bedside. They all silently prayed for her speedy recovery. And hoped she would get back to being her cute and hyperactive self again soon.
