Stoick sits at the forge while Ryder went to deliver a few weapons.
Gobber ask "what's wrong, Stoick?"
Stoick sighs "Astrid told me that Ryder was my son and that he feels unworthy of anything. Is that true?"
Gobber sighs "yes, Stoick. It's true. For years, he tried to fit in with this tribe, but no one wanted him around. He's been an outcast his whole life."
Stoick sighs "I'll give him space and won't reveal his secret. I owe him that much for never showing him love and appreciate him."
Ryder returned to see Stoick and says "the weapons were delivered. Say Gobber? You wouldn't know how to ground a dragon?"
Gobber answers "to ground a dragon, you have to take out it's wings and tail. Why?"
Ryder answers "just wondering how I would be able to kill the queen dragon even though she offered me Sanctuary. If I want to end the dragon raids, I have to kill her."
Gobber comments "I heard about that fight between you, Snotlout and the twins."
Ryder scoffs "keep those three away from me and you won't see the queen's warrior!"
Stoick comments "that's why I assign Astrid to shadow you. You seem to be comfortable around her."
Ryder nods his head "yeah."
Ryder finished work in the forge and left to spend time in the arena with the dragons.
Astrid found him in the arena playing with the dragons.
She sets her axe down by the gate and says "I'm excited to follow you around the village. Gives us time to bond."
Ryder turns to Astrid and ask "do you want to try flying on Stormfly?"
Astrid grins "sure."
She climbs on top of Stormfly saddle and Ryder climbs on behind her.
A voice interrupts them "what do you think your doing with my betrothed?!"
Astrid grins "he's teaching me how to fly my dragon."
They fly out the arena to show Astrid how to fly around Berk.
Snotlout leaves the arena to go do something.
Two hours later, Ryder and Astrid returned to the arena.
Astrid chuckles "thanks for the date, Ryder."
Ryder answers "your very welcome, milady."
They arrive at the Hofferson's house for dinner.
Magnus nervous says "Astrid? Daughter? Spitelout offered us a marriage contract for your hand in marriage since your the heir."
Astrid nervous ask "did you accept it?"
Magnus sighs "no, because Stoick informed us that after what Snotlout did, he said that he wouldn't approve and marriage ceremonies unless you agree to marry that boy."
Astrid comments "well me and Ryder just came back from having a date."
Magnus ask "you two went on a date already without asking permission to court my daughter?!"
Ryder comments "well it started out as a training flight to get her used to flying her bonded dragon in the arena and then we decided to have a campfire lunch in the cove. And that is probably why Snotlout called Astrid his betrothed."
Astrid scoffs "well burn that contract because the only boy I'm going to marry is Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the third."
Ryder comments "I feel wanted by you, milady."
Days went by.
Astrid shadow Ryder around the village.
Snotlout scowls seeing Ryder and Astrid holding hands while walking around the village sometimes.
