After the work we put into my room to make everything cute and perfect, I had to triple check that our hard work was visible in the video. Me and Sadie spent the entire last night placing polaroid pictures and posters on one of my walls. We also planned on having fairy lights above our heads, but apparently, they can cause a fire if next to posters?! Like, ugh, that was such a scam! Thank God, nothing happened to my favorite Harold Styles poster or I would be LIVID!
Right below all of this, there's a suuuper adorable pink couch that me and my bestie had to NOT ONLY push all the way here but also build it! Shouldn't those things come pre-built, or something?! Sadie says no, but whatever, I know my tru-
"Katie, you've been blankly staring for like a whole minute now. Can we just start the video?"
Oh yeah. Sadie raised a good point. I have a habit of going on long tangents in my head, that have no meaning or purpose… Like I'm doing right now… Uh, I looked over at her, an impatient expression on her face. Can't exactly blame her for that one, so I just clicked the "record" button and quickly sat beside her on my pink couch.
"Alright, just as we talked about!" - She said and I just nodded as she gave me an encouraging smile. I'm kinda nervous and I know she knows me well enough to always not just see, but feel when something is going on with me. This time, it's our first video for our new channel and we had… Some minor disagreements about the name, but we came to an agreement. Like we always do!
As I took a deep breath to calm myself down, she looked over at the camera - "Hiiii! Welcome! We're BFFFL aka Best Female Friends For Life, but you can call us Sadie-"
"-and Sadie! …Wait, what did you say?"
"Sadie? You know, how we were supposed to name the channel Sadie and Katie?"
I can't believe she's doing this to me right now. This… This… This witch! UGH! - "NO?! The name we settled on was Katie and Sadie?!"
Somehow, after pulling this move on me, she found the nerve to also scoff?! I watched in complete disbelief as Sadie crossed her arms and looked the other way. Wow, typical Sadie. Can't even keep eye contact during an argument! - "Settled on? Really? What I remember is that after I proposed the sooo very SUPERIOR name, you ghosted me for 3 hours, and then asked me for advice on which shade of lipstick to buy, because I'm the one in this pair who knows how to paint a mug."
The nerve, the gall, the audacity, and the lack of any gumption that she had just shown. If looks could kill, Sadie would drop dead right now and I would probably be arrested, cause it all would be captured on camera, but you know what? It would be worth it! - "Well, first of all, bragging about your make-up "skills"..." - I showed a sign of quotation marks while putting a strong emphasis on the word "skills". The look of anger on her face? Priceless! - "...Is certainly not a cute look, when every single thing that you have in your wardrobe was sawn by me, just so we could match!"
Sadie gasped in shock as if I was telling lies! But uh, no! I learned how to sew when I was like 8, just so me and Sadie could always wear the cutest, sweetest, matching fits. We had quite a huge size difference even back then, so it was hard for us to match, but I took matters into my own hands, and that's what I get in return?! Even right now, we're both wearing striped crop tops and pink jean shorts that were made entirely by me! Do you know how hard it was to find pink jeans material, not for one, but TWO pairs of shorts? It was like, very hard. Really, very hard, actually!
"And second of all, I didn't ghost you! I was preparing for the tryouts of the track team. You know, since we didn't get into cheerleaders, because of SOMEONE, I had to try the next best option for me."
Sadie once again turned around, this time to face me. - "Why did you put such an emphasis on "someone"?" - She raised her brow, clearly confused. I guess this SOMEONE needs a memory refreshment.
"Um, because you were the one who didn't remember the choreo? I did a fantastic job and if not for the fact that we performed in a pair, I would definitely get in! Not to mention the fact that you look like a bull in a china store!"
Sadie's face? Total shift from curiosity to offense as she huffed in disbelief. - "Bull in a china store? Seriously? Are you really resorting to fat jokes?" - I could feel the mixture of anger and hurt and I was just sitting there, like completely flabbergasted?
"What?! No! It's a saying! It just means, like, being clumsy! Sadie, you're beautiful!"
Her shoulders relaxed a little and she let out a sigh. "... Thank you. I'm so, sooo sorry Katie, you know how sensitive I can get about my weight. I'm sorry for this fight, I don't even remember what started it. You're my best friend in the whole world."
And like that, tears started forming in my eyes, as I was trying to gently wipe them, before they'd, like, totally ruin my make-up. "Awww, Sadie, I also don't remember what we even fought about! You're my best friend too, and you know I would never say anything to hurt you intentionally!"
Then, without another word, we both immediately pulled each other into this big, warm, comforting hug, burning the remains of our silly, little disagreement. We stayed like that for a few seconds, before separating.
"Okay, Katie, now let's get to the Q&A. I will edit this intro later." - Oh right! I almost, like, totally forgot that we were recording a Q&A video for our future fans. She thinks it's a good idea to introduce us to the audience or something like that. I stared at the camera with a blank smile, as I waited for Sadie to start reading out the questions, but when I looked over at her, she also just smiled.
"Um, Sadie? Are you not going to read the questions?"
Immediately her smile dropped, as she facepalmed? I was so confused, which was probably, like, very obvious based on her reaction - a major eye roll and a defeated sigh. "Katie. You were supposed to write the questions."
Ohhhhh, right. It was me who was supposed to do that. I chuckled nervously as Sadie just took a deep breath. - "Ummmmmm, yeeeeah… About that…"
"KATIE!"
"I'm sorry! I just… Why are we even starting the channel with a Q&A?! It makes no sense! Like, who's asking the questions? …Not in the literal sense, cause that will be, I mean, who are we pretending is writing them? Like, Sadie, we aren't popular and our hotness is not appreciated enough for that!"
"It's supposed to, you know, give an illusion of popularity! Katie, do you ever listen to me?! Ugh! Sometimes I just can't-" - She stopped to take a deep breath, as I just sheepishly stared at her. After, like, a few seconds, she calmed herself down. - "Katie, just take the phone and stop the recording. I will come up with questions and then we can get back to the recording."
I just nodded not wanting to kickstart another argument. I made my way over to where I put my phone and as I looked at its screen, I froze for a moment. Wellll… Someone, maybe forgot that they were using Instagram, and instead of recording a normal video… They recorded a livestream… That someone being me.
I was so shook, that I didn't even realize that Sadie was behind me until she spoke out. - "Katie? Why are you staring at your phone like that? Girl, don't tell me that Justin uploaded another shirtless pic." - She forcibly took the phone right out of my hand, chuckling to herself - "I know he's a major hottie, but even by our standards, you're spending sooo much time-"
And there it is. Her jaw practically fell to the floor as she realized that this entire time, someone was watching our entire conversation. - "...Katie. Why are we livestreaming?"
I struggled to form any cohesive words… So I didn't. I just shrugged with the most guilty expression the world had ever seen, all while Sadie just glared at me, with murderous intent in her eyes. Luckily, instead of charging straight at me, she just clicked a few things on my phone, before letting out a sigh of relief. - "It's just one person… It's kinda pathetic, but good for us in this case."
I let out my own… sigh of relief, before walking over to Sadie. I looked over at her shoulder to see who was watching the live, but I had no idea. I'm sorry to this person, but they could be walking down the street next to me and I would not recognize them. Their pfp just showed them in a red hoodie with their face all blurred out. Very emo. Their username was just "TRHD", which reminded me of something, I just had no idea what it was.
I looked at Sadie who just awkwardly smiled while waving at the camera - "Hiii… TRHD? We are sooo sorry!"
"Yeah! So, terribly sorry!"
"Totally! Like, it's kinda embarrassing! Umm… By the way, do we know you? Do you go to the school with us?"
Up to this point, they were sitting completely quiet, which was actually, like, very creepy? Who joins a random livestream, sees it being a complete mess, and just doesn't say anything? But whatever, they did answer Sadie's question. Well, it was just a "yes", but it was something, I guess.
Honestly, I kinda was ready to just say "byeee" and end this disaster, but that's when Sadie read out another message: - "Based on your convo, I got a feeling that you guys want to be popular. Have you heard about Taylor Wellington looking for two people to add to her clique?"
I felt like my eyes were ready to just pop out. I couldn't contain the excitement inside of me as I let out a scream of excitement. - "EEEK!" - I quickly covered my mouth. Like, oh my, that was so embarrassing…. But also who cares? Taylor Wellington, the richest, prettiest, most popular girl at school is looking for people to become a part of her squad.
I started jumping up and down while frantically flailing my arms around. - "OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG! SADIE! This is our big shot!"
I stopped for a moment, to look at her, but I was just met with a deadpan stare of… unimpressness? - "Katie… You are so RIGHT!." - With uncontained excitement, Sadie threw her hands in her air… And lost the grip on the phone, which flew through the entire room. And it was my phone. Like, the urge to cry out in panic was very huge, but it was quickly overridden by Sadie grabbing me by the hands and as she started jumping around in circles, happily singing, I couldn't help but join her.
"We will be popular! We will be popular! We will be-" - Our cheerful, little thing was interrupted by a message notification from my phone. Right, I need to check if I should have a mental breakdown or not. I walked over in the direction that Sadie threw the phone. As I picked it up from the ground, I smiled, relieved that it came out without a scratch. As I checked the message left by TRHK, I was filled with fear as I looked over at Sadie, who was still innocently clueless.
"Sadie… There's one more message." - I took a deep breath, trying to gather myself in order to find the strength to read it out loud. -…BTW, do you guys know it's Monday and we have lessons right now?"
…
I leaned on the wall, totally struggling for air, as I felt my heart trying to get out of my chest. I glanced over at Katie, who looked like she hadn't just run those 10 kilometers. And all of this effort just to make it in time for math! MATH! Ugh, this is so not my jam. If not for the fact that my parents were sooo super strict about attendance this early in the school year, I would have just stayed at home, but now I may at least have some wiggle room when they get mad about this.
"Did we… Did we make it in time?" - I asked, with heavy breaths sneaking in between every word. Katie just pulled out her phone, before letting out a loud groan. - "Pleeeease, don't say that we didn't make it. Please."
"Wellll… I'm not going to say that. However, I will say that maybe buying ice cream and taking a break to eat it is not a good idea if you're in a hurry."
Now I was the one groaning. I plopped down on the ground, completely defeated. Ice cream is sooo my biggest weakness. - "But- But they had the strawberry, vanilla mix! And the Hello Catty marshmallows! Think how cute those pics will be on our Instagram!"
Katie struck a "thinking pose" before nodding. - "You know what, you're right. Those pics are, like, very cute! Maybe it was worth it?"
"Ice cream instead of math? It was sooo worth it." - It's been a while since we got here, long enough for me to get back most of my energy. I stood up, checking the time on my phone. - "You know… We could just go back home… Orrr, we could learn more about how to join Taylor and her squad?"
Katie gasped in excitement. - "Sadie, you're literally a genius!" - I chuckled to myself, as I felt a blush appear on my face. Sadly, it's an empty compliment. Neither of us is very bright, but between me and Katie… She's the dumber one.
In this misfortune, there is some… fortune, as we didn't even need to wait long for the bell to ring. Classroom doors swung open as a bunch of randos flooded the hallway, each heading in their own direction. As I looked around, searching for Taylor's unmistakable aura of stardom, I felt someone tapping me on the shoulder. I hoped it was Katie, but nope. It's the PE teacher, Gerry. No one even bothers to learn his last name, 'cause like… He's a PE teacher. Who cares?
He furrowed his brows, making him look sooo grumpy and even older than usual. There was no reason for any of that. - "You and your friend missed another lesson. The year barely started and you two are at it again."
Ugh, I had to fight my urge to roll my eyes into the back of my head. PE is sooo useless! Even my parents don't care if I go there or not! Maybe if we were at least thought by some hottie, but no. We just got this bitter, annoying old man. And I bet he wasn't cute even when he was young! - "I'm sorry. We both overslept and tried to get to school in time for other lessons, but we were too slow."
"Well, maybe if you attended my classes, you would be faster. I can cut your friend some slack, I know she's into running or something, but you? You SHOULD want to be more active!"
He just shook his head in disappointment before leaving. Immediately as he turned around, I groaned with annoyance as Katie walked over to me. - "Was he giving you another lecture about how we keep skipping PE?"
"Duh! That's all he does! Ugh, he's sooo annoying about it too! Like, he always singles us out, when there are plenty of others who also don't go!"
"Just ignore him. He's bitter, 'cause his tennis career didn't work out and he's stuck here, while his rival is still at the top of the game." - I jumped a little, startled by the voice that suddenly appeared next to us. I looked over to see Samantha Princeton behind me. Great! The beautiful, vice head cheerleader and part of Taylor's clique just saw me completely emba-
"Oh, I'm sorry if I scared you guys!" - She sent me a polite smile, probably noticing how flustered I felt. I wasn't sure if it made me seem more pathetic or not. - "You two were at the campfire, right?" - Her pretty blue eyes were focused right on me, leaving me too nervous to speak up - "You called Taylor "marshmallow eating freak"! Honestly? It was so… Epic? Yeah, that's a good word to use!
I was completely flustered. Me and Katie exchanged looks, neither of us knowing how to react. - "Yeah… We had some drinks that night… Maybe a bit too much…"
"Yeah, totally! We are like, very sorry! Sadie didn't mean to-"
Samantha just chuckled softly and shrugged it off. - "Girls! Don't apologize! I said it was epic! I wish I could be brave enough to speak out against Taylor… Or Amy. Even if it would be only because of alcohol influence."
I could literally die right now. Seriously! This is like sooo… So… I couldn't even find the right words! I mean, it's not Taylor or even Amy or Bridgette saying that, but Samantha is good enough! But the best part? She wasn't done yet. - "You know, now that I think of it, Taylor is looking for new "members" to add to our "friend group". Maybe you two would like to-"
She didn't even need to finish, as Katie and I yelled out in unison: - "YES, PLEASE"!
…
Samantha led us through a hallway at the back of the school. I didn't recognize it and based on Katie's face, I doubt she did either. It was kinda weird in here, most of the hallways are painted this nice white and red, but here? It was this gloomy blue. The lockers that look completely normal in the rest of the school, instead looked as if they were taken straight out of the prison and all of the doors were made out of some nasty, dark wood. I am sooo not a fan! But, as she stopped in front of one of the doors, I knew it wouldn't be a problem for much longer.
"Thank you, Samantha!"
She looked confused, before shaking her head. - "Samantha is a bit too formal. Just call me Sammy, or Sam… Just not Samey. Please." - Me and Katie nodded our heads. We already may be starting off at a disadvantage, because of that whole campfire fiasco, so we didn't want to risk making it even worse by calling her a nickname in case it was for friends only.
"Anyway, I'm still scouting to see if there's going to be more people interested in wanting to join us… Uh, join is a weird word to use here. Makes it sound like a cult… Or something" - I was surprised as Sam started to awkwardly laugh? Katie and I always thought of this group to be like sooo perfect and everything a teenager should strive for. Sam is nice… Just kinda doesn't fit the image I had in my head. I looked over at Katie and based on her expression, if she was thinking anything, it was the same thing as me. Well, Sam was kind enough to open the door for us, before leaving.
Katie was about to step right inside, but I stopped her in time, causing a confused reaction from her. - "Hold on! This. This is sooo important. We need to make fantastic first impressions, right? Taylor isn't done until 2 hours from now, we have time to get back home, wear our cutest fits, and do our hair super sweet and nice."
"Sadie… You're a genius."
Alive: Katie, Sadie, Taylor, Amy, Lightning, Justin, Trent, Gerry
Dead: Geoff, Bridgette
The previous chapter was basically a prologue that mostly introduced Taylor's clique dynamics, this one was basically to introduce Katie and Sadie 3 The POV will be changing a lot and to differentiate which one of BFFFL is talking, Katie will be overusing "like" while Sadie "sooo", cause I just think this is like, sooo them.
Yeah, other than that, I don't think I have too much to say about this chapter. It was pretty fun to write. In the next chapter, I will introduce the rest of the main cast and maybe kill someone. We will see. Hope you enjoyed it!
I have huge problems here on ff and the traffic graph doesn't work for me. I actually thought that this fanfic wasn't sent at all and I reuploaded it like 4 times before realizing that it's just the traffic graph that doesn't work. It's kinda a bummer to not see if people are even reading this, so if you're reading this and you enjoyed it, I would appreciate any review, even like "hey, I like this!" would be very nice and appreciated!
Also if someone dealt with this issue before and knows how to fix it, I would very much appreciate sharing that knowledge!
Guest - That's a good guess, but I will say it right now - Zeke won't be in this fic. BUT, if I decide to write a sequel, I think Zeke would be one of the people I would heavily consider.
