We cut to a shot of Snow as he is driving the jeep behind the one Balthazar was driving. After what had happened earlier when they'd thought they'd lost Snow. All was peaceful in the vehicle. Octavia was sleeping peacefully in Dex's arms. And, her head rested upon his shoulder. Loona is seen on her phone while Snow is driving.
Focusing on the road ahead. He notices Balthazar's jeep has stopped at the side of the road to allow Millie to take a leak behind a bush while she had her gun with her. Coming to a complete stop. Eric jumps out of the vehicle while leaving Loona with Octavia and Dex to join Balthazar at the front of the convoy. When he arrives at Balthazar's jeep. Balthazar asks the male beside him.
"Something on your mind, Lazarus?"
Snow nods while looking at the road ahead leading to the next town. Something seemed off, yet, familiar for Snow. Noting this, he replied.
"Something about the place we are going through to get to Angel's Peak. It's giving me familiar yet, disturbing, vibes. I'm worried we won't like what we find in that town Bal."
Balthazar nods in agreement at the smaller male's assessment of the town before them. Once Millie had finished up. The two-vehicle convoy set off for the town ahead. However, disaster would soon strike.
You see, while they were driving ahead of Snow's vehicle, Balthazar had started to become weird. His vision was starting to become blurry. Almost like he'd been on a sixteen-day bender with his colleagues from work when he had swerved after thinking he'd seen a child in the middle of the road. Crashing the jeep into a ditch and causing Blitzo to go crazy at the male.
"THE HELL BALTHAZAR!"
Moxxie, making sure no one was hurt when he climbs out of the wreck, waves down Snow's jeep. Indicating that Balthazar was out cold. And, once Snow's vehicle stopped. The Genesis ran from the vehicle with Dex in tow to see to the fallen that was sparked out with blood coming from his forehead from the crash.
"Balthazar! BAL! CAN YOU HEAR ME, BUDDY?"
Dex shouts in concern while checking to see if his teammate is still with him. They weren't losing a teammate now they were on the right track toward Angel's Peak. While Dex made sure Balthazar was still living, Snow spoke.
"Okay. In the town, we are making a stop at just ahead. I'll take Moxxie to help me scout the area in case of any undesirable elements." Turns to Millie. "Mill, stay with Loona and Octavia. If anything should happen. Mox will radio you for backup if things go south."
With a nod in understanding and a kiss from his wife with his gun at the ready. Moxxie joins Snow as part of the two-person scouting team. As they head on ahead of the others. They'd leave Loona and the others to stay with Balthazar. And, in the hope that, when he awakes, he can explain what caused him to swerve off of the road and into the ditch.
The Town
Seeing a town without any pure souls roaming its streets was an eerie sight to behold for the two walking side by side with their pistols raised the moment they entered the entrance to the town that was deserted within Heaven. Snow couldn't help but shiver.
"Eric? Are you… feeling OK?"
To ease the imp beside him, Snow nods. His ease would soon evaporate the moment a noise caused the two males to raise their guns. The cause of their unease? It was a building that had, suddenly, appeared in front of them. Despite the skeptical looks from the two at the building. The two entered with caution. Unbeknownst to them. A being made of pure shadows awaited them the moment they entered the house.
Hours Later (Back With The Other Members of Snow's Team)
"Snowman, what's your status? Over."
Static
"Commander? This is Tech, do you copy?"
Even Louder Static
Placing the radio back down. Dex climbs out of the jeep Snow had been driving and walks towards the other jeep where the others were gathered around Balthazar. The fallen is seen to be in pain and sweating profusely with his eyes closed. And, with one hand clutching his chest. The other is seen gripping the door handle of the jeep.
Pulling aside a smoking Loona. Dex updates the hound about his friend's status from the town they had entered.
"Loona, it's been six hours since we heard from Lazarus. We should send someone in to investigate if something's happened to them."
Loona shakes her head in reply. If she knew Snow. He'd probably be pulling a prank on everyone. And, he would soon appear and tell everyone that they had the all-clear to enter the town for the night to rest. Yes, the amount of time Snow was in said town was worrying to his hellhound wife. This was considering the fact he would normally clear out any enemies he encountered and report back saying he'd completed his task with no issues.
"Give it another hour Dex. If Snow doesn't answer his radio. I'll take Millie and head in to retrieve them. If that happens. I'll keep radio silence until I retrieve my husband and his friend. When I do this. You and Blitzo need to watch over Balthazar to make sure his condition doesn't worsen. And, to make sure no angels try to ambush you and take back Octavia."
Loona says in a, surprisingly, reassuringly tone to the worried fallen angel beside her. Dex could see the admiration Loona had for the hybrid. And, the confidence she had that he would be back quickly. Only, her resolve soon changed when she saw the imp that had gone in with her husband staggering back to the group.
Millie was happy to see that it was Moxxie. Only for Octavia to gasp in horror at what had happened to the imp female's husband while he'd been with Snow. Cuts and gashes galore were all over his body with blood drenching his clothes from head to toe. His once red face was now pale as a sheet with lifeless eyes staring back at anyone who dared look into them.
"MOX! WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU!?"
Millie shouts when Moxxie falls into her arms. And, much to the female imp's horror, Moxxie is now seen with his face frozen at the point when he had tried to turn tail and run. He couldn't communicate since his jaw was locked in place from fear after screaming. And, those lifeless eyes I mentioned? They were just, empty. No emotion and all life the imp once had. It was all gone.
"Moxxie, where is Snow? Where is my husband?!"
All Loona received in reply was a cold shudder and an ear-splitting scream from the male imp. Causing everyone to cover their ears. The screams and the cries did not last any longer when Octavia, effectively jumped out of the jeep while grabbing Dex's Gewher. 45, slammed the butt of the rifle straight into Moxxie's temple. Effectively silencing the screams and howls of pain from the imp. Leaving everyone to sigh in relief at Mox being put out of his suffering... for now. This also allowed Millie to cradle her unconscious husband.
One Hour Passes
With no sign of Snow. And, with the one-hour time limit Loona had set being up for the hybrid to return. Loona and Millie grab some of Snow's weapons from the gun bags inside the jeep's trunk and begin to load up two M9s between them. Loona opted out of using a silencer while keeping the laser sight on. Whereas Millie did use a suppressor and laser sight. Before Millie and Loona were about to set out. The hellhound walks over to her dad. And, in a rare moment of emotion in front of everyone. She hugged her dad before looking at the imp she was going with. This was to let Millie know that the hell hound was ready to hunt down the cause of Balthazar and Moxxie lying helpless in the backseat of the jeep they were in.
With confirmation to start their shift in protecting both Balthazar and Octavia. Blitzo and Dex began to patrol the area while the lead females walked into the town Moxxie suffered from. And Snow, never returned from.
Back In The Town
The angel of shadows that had been involved in Balthazar's crippling illness that threatened his life. And, with Moxxie's almost dead appearance while lying unconscious in the jeep that belonged to Snow. While said hybrid was now missing in action. The angel's mission was, shall we say, almost half complete. Seeing as they only had to kill the rest of the team and capture the owl before bringing them before God for judgment.
Now, knowing what they must do, the angel begins setting in motion the same trap that they had laid for the King of Hell. And, they would be setting it for the two new victims to enter their domain of nightmares.
All they had to do now, was wait.
With Loona and Millie
Knowing something could pop out at you at any minute kept the two females on edge while they traveled through the town from where they had started. Spotting a house with lights on brought up some red flags for the two females who, are now seen stood before the doorway of said building Snow didn't return from.
"You thinking what I'm thinking Millie?"
Loona asks. Receiving a nod from the smaller female next to the hellhound, Millie checked that she had enough ammunition to overthrow a third-world government for one weapon. Once done. The females boot down the door to the house. Not knowing they'd sprung a certain angel of the shadows trap the moment they stepped foot into the threshold.
Inside the House
Even if they were used to weird and creepy in Hell. Millie and Loona were not expecting to be smack bang in the middle of an eerily silent household with no one living there. And, not a sound to be heard. The slightest of noises would cause Millie to pull her gun on an innocent mouse. Causing Loona to shush the imp harshly in case anyone was lurking in the shadows.
Deciding to split up and cover more ground. Millie went downstairs while Loona took the first floor of the house by going up the stairs.
With Millie
Nothing seemed out of the ordinary for the imp as she entered the dining area of the house with her gun held at the ready. Take it slow. And, keeping alert to any immediate threat that could attack at any moment. Millie was putting into effect everything she'd ever known. Her thoughts are soon interrupted by a noise breaking her thoughts. Now, with her gun trained on the door at the far end of the room from where the scratching noises were coming from. She says with an unamused look on her face.
"if this is your idea for some sort of prank, Snow. it's not funny!"
Millie, with her gun, now raised fully the minute she stands by the side of the double doors and its latch. Places her ear on the door carefully. And, almost as if whatever was moving knew what the imp was doing. The noises had stopped when she had begun investigating the disturbance.
"What's behind door number one?"
Millie mutters. She placed a tentative hand on the door handle beside her and slowly moved the handle downwards to the door creaking open. The imp begins to slowly walk forward with her gun at the ready.
Creak
The wood slowly opened with her gun exiting first before Millie's full body went through the door hole to come face to face with pitch blackness up towards a single burning candle at the end of the hallway.
This was new to the female and she walked forward slowly. She began checking for anything that could jump out at a moment's notice. And, could attack her while she was vulnerable. Or, something that would give her a clue as to the whereabouts of the thing that captured Loona's husband. And, the kicker? The reason she was pushing on along the hallway to said candle was because of her husband. Who had come back looking like a shrieker from the lowest pits of Hell?
"Just hold on boys."
Once Millie had made it to the single candle on a lone table at the end of the hallway. All that lay on the scratched-up wood was a single sheet of paper that read a single sentence.
'SHINE A LIGHT ON ME!
-Moxxie.'
"Shine a light on me? What're you talking about Mox?"
The female would soon get her answer.
THUD
The sudden noise caused Millie to snap her attention away from the note and point her gun towards where she had heard the noise come from. The moment she turned her attention back to the table and pocketed the note before turning round again. A crazed figure jumped out at her and knocked her down to the floor below. Sending the gun flying from her hands.
"GET OFF OF ME!"
With a swift kick. Millie sent the unknown being skittling away from her before scrambling for her gun. With the candle being the only light to go with while aiming. The imp fired off three rounds into the horrific creature's face.
"WHY WON'T YOU DIE!"
Millie would soon get her answer as to why the creature was still mortal. After the sixth bullet was absorbed. And, it had knocked the creature into the singular candle flame. The thing let out an unearthly scream at being exposed to the light on the table.
Seeing this. And, clicking on what Moxxie meant right away after seeing this revelation. Millie Rugby tackles the being against the wall that was illuminated by the singular flame. And, when the thing screeched. Millie, with the light on her pistol now lit up, fired more rounds into the thing's face before slicing its head off with one clean swipe of her combat knife. Effectively killing it and causing it to vanish before the female.
"Rot in Hell."
Millie says with a breath of relief escaping her mouth. Taking a look at where the thing had vanished. Millie noticed it had dropped something onto the floor after she had killed it. Walking over to it. And, picking it up from its place on the floor. Millie notices that it is an amulet that has been dropped. Clicking it open. The object reveals a picture inside which causes the imp to radio back to Dex about her discovery.
"Tech, this is Firecracker."
"Go ahead, Mills."
"Dex, I've made contact with something vulnerable to any sort of light. After killing said creature. It dropped something upon death. An amulet of sorts with a picture inside."
"Have you made out what the picture is?"
Millie pauses before placing the image on the desk. Examining her discovery. Millie, in a rare instance of worry. Gasps in horror at what is in the picture she is looking at. At the gasp from the female. Dex speaks up.
"Millie, is everything OK? What happened?"
A sob is all the male on the other end of the line got from the female. On the image, it was a picture of Moxxie, hanging from a tree with his stomach ripped open. And, his insides were shown to be hanging out. all while his eyes were wide open in horror from the gruesome way he had died.
"Millie? Are you there?"
Holding back another sob. Millie finds the strength to answer Dex. But, when she does. Dex couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"Dex, the picture is of my husband. And… he's dead, Dex!"
No more words were said after that. Because when Dex tried reaching out to Moxxie's wife. The radio had gone silent. And, Millie couldn't be heard having her unconscious body dragged away by the angel of shadows that had captured Snow.
Loona was on her own now.
