Disclaimer: I do not own Highschool of the Dead. I only own the OC George Edwards.
Later that day, about fifteen minutes before midnight, George is woken up by the feeling of someone tapping his shoulder. He was a light sleeper thanks to his training, since his dad always said a soldier should be quick to wake up when called upon, so he easily opened his eyes to see one Saeko Busujima staring down at him.
"Ah, Ms. Busujima… I assume that you're waking me up because you want to sleep yourself?" He asks the woman beside him, making her shake her head in response.
"Not quite, but I thought I told you before that you could call me Saeko?" She asks with a playful grin, attempting to make the teen beside her blush just like she had earlier that day. However, what she doesn't realize is that since then, the teen beside her had decided to play the same game with her.
"Ah so that was reality. I thought that it might have just been a dream that a woman as beautiful as yourself would allow me to call her by her first name." He tells her with a smirk that makes Saeko blush at how it makes him look, making him give her a chuckle as well. However, this chuckle was different than the ones from earlier that day. This one was deeper, and it made him seem that much more masculine.
The fact that he could easily take care of himself in a deadly situation only added to that as well in the eyes of the swordswoman, as evidenced when he took out those three zombies when they left the Faculty room back at the school.
"Well now, that blush just seems to make you even more beautiful than before, Saeko." George tells her, before he arcs his back to stretch, while Saeko attempts to quell the blush in her cheeks, eventually succeeding and giving the young man a smirk that he can't see.
'Well, it seems that Mr. Edwards has gotten even more interesting than before.' She thinks to herself, her eyes briefly wandering over his body. With his shirt tucked into his pants, his shirt was pressed against his body, and showed the swordswoman the muscles that were beneath it since he was stretching.
She was slightly surprised to see that the man beside her actually had a six-pack, since he didn't seem like the kind to work out. His agility and ability to maneuver around obstacles easily didn't seem to fit with the extra muscle either. However, she remembers that she didn't know much about him. It's not like they chatted to each other any time they saw one another in the hallways. However... she did notice him staring at her occationally when they do pass each other in the hallways, and it wasn't like the way other boys stared at her.
However, she's brought out of her musings by the same chuckle that George had given her a few seconds ago, and looks to see the same smirk as well. "Ah, Saeko, might I inquire why it is that you've been staring at me for the last minute?" He asks her, revealing that it had actually been more than a few seconds. In response, Saeko gets another light blush on her cheeks, before she refocuses on his face and pushes the blush down, giving him a playful smirk in response.
"I must admit that it intrigues me that you have the agility and maneuverability that you do, with a body like that." She tells him, making him raise an eyebrow as he looks down at his abs, giving another chuckle in response.
"Let's just say that I trained to handle myself. However, it's nice to know that a beautiful woman such as yourself is taking interest in the appearance of a common man such as me." He tells her with a smirk, making her give one of her own in response.
'Well played. It seems that I'm going to have a tough time with you from now on, George Edwards.' Saeko thinks to herself, before the two of them hear a voice that brings their attention away from each other.
"If you two lovebirds are done flirting with one another, you'd actually pay attention to the fact that we're not moving anymore." Saya says from the seats behind them, making the two look at her, then at each other, before smirking once again as they turn back to Saya.
"Why Takagi, could it be that you're jealous?" George asks, the look in Saeko's eyes already telling him that she would gladly play along with him. Though neither realized that in the backs of their minds, this wasn't just playing along.
"What?!" Saya exclaims, making the two chuckle in response. "You're both stupid idiots. Why would I be jealous of you two?" She asks, crossing her arms and looking off to the side. In response the two get up, and then make their way over to stand next to the pinkette's seat, with Kohta sitting in the one beside her.
"Oh, don't be like that. In fact, I'm sure you'll be able to find someone out there. Someone who actually likes you for who you are, and not just because of your looks or how rich you are." George says with a smile, subtly looking at Kohta as his fellow raven haired teen gains a few shades of red in his face and looks out the window.
'Ha! That's payback for laughing at me earlier!' George thinks to himself in triumph, before the mood grows serious as he looks out the window and sees that what Takagi had told them before was true. "But you have a point…" He admits, the others turning to look out the window with him, Kohta's blush finally receding as they look out the window with him so that his blush can't be seen in the faded reflection of the glass.
"Any slower and we'd be going in reverse." Saeko comments, getting a nod of agreement from George in response.
"At this rate, I'm not sure if we can cross the bridge before dawn." Saya adds… Just before another sound breaks the silence as the bus actually manages to move a few feet when the cars ahead of it pull forwards. That sound being Kohta's stomach growling. "Shut up! Be quiet! You're so disgusting!" Takagi yells at him, the stress from the day showing itself once again as her temper flares.
"I can't help it, I've been so hungry. Ever since I started PX90" He mutters the last part, just before the sound of a gunshot goes off, and everyone in the group turns to see where it came from, only to see one of the zombies getting shot by multiple cops at once. When this happens, a couple girls in the back of the bus get scared from the sound and what it means, and Shido starts to "comfort" them with soothing words and a hug. When this happens, everyone in the main group glares at him, with George having the most amount of anger in his eyes.
He clenches his fist a few times. He takes a few deep breaths in an attempt to calm down, before walking over to his seat and slumping down into it in an attempt to ignore the perverted teacher in the back of the bus, Saeko walking over and sitting in her own seat next to him a few seconds later. They sit there in silence for a few seconds, before Saeko breaks it. "So, is there a reason that you hate Mr. Shido? I agree that what he did back at the school was despicable, but you seemed to hate him even before that." She comments, making George give her a dry laugh in response.
"You picked up on that, huh?" He asks her, making her nod in response. "Let's just say that him leaving that kid to the Walkers wasn't the first despicable thing that he's done. But, I might just have to make sure that it's the last." He says, before sighing and turning to face her with a small smirk on his face. "Now, I believe that you've had your turn watching out for me while I sleep, I assume that it's only fair that I watch the bastard while you get your own beauty sleep… Not that you need it." He says to her, making her give her own grin in response, before she nods in thanks.
However, instead of leaning back against the chair to sleep, she instead rests her head on his shoulder, and presses her ample chest against his side. This makes him look at her with an eyebrow raised in confusion, while she gives him a playful smirk in response. "What? I would think that any man would love to have a woman sleep against him." She says to him, making him give her a smirk of his own in response.
"Well, I'm not complaining. I'm just wondering what could possibly make you want to do such a thing with a common man like me." He tells her, his smirk widening while her own playful one turns slightly flirtatious.
"Well, perhaps I find this more comfortable then the seats of a bus." She tells him, moving slightly so that her breasts press into his chest as well as his side. George's smirk stays on his face at this, and he leans completely into the chair at the same time.
"Well in that case, go right ahead, I'm not going to stop you from getting more comfortable. And I'll take it as a compliment that a beautiful woman such as yourself would like to do this." He tells her, making her keep her flirtatious smirk as she leans up slightly so that her mouth is right next to his ear.
"I'm sure that you will. But, suppose that I'm not as comfortable as I could be?" She asks him, making George look at her as his smirk appears to get slightly wider.
"Well then, I suppose that you'll just have to find a way to get as comfortable as you can then." He tells her in response, and her flirtatious smirk almost seems to take a predatorial gleam to it at his words.
"I suppose that I will." She whispers, before she moves so that she's now straddling the teen with the smirk still on her face, and the predatorial gleam still in her eyes. In response, George's eyes widen slightly, before they narrow as a small smirk makes its way onto his face.
"Well, I suppose that if this is what makes you comfortable, then who am I to complain?" He asks her in a whisper as their eyes are inches from one another, their noses practically touching and their lips are close enough that they can feel each other's breaths.
"It's good to see that a man knows when a woman should have what she wants." Saeko says, making George close his eyes and chuckle while he shakes his head slightly.
"Well, when the man has a woman straddling him, then it's fairly easy for him to reply with "yes". Of course, when it's a beautiful woman such as yourself, then I find that any man would have a hard time saying no." He tells her, making her continue to smirk, before she suddenly gets off him, and returns to her original position against his side.
"Well, while that's great for me to know, I'm afraid that by doing so, I might make it a little difficult for you to keep watch. So, I'm afraid I'll just have to settle for this." She tells him, the playful smirk back on her face as she believes that she'd just got one over on him by teasing him with something, only to take it away moments later. However, George just continues to smirk at her.
"Of course Saeko, that's just fine with me." He tells her, making her frown on the inside when she realizes that her ploy didn't work, and makes her believe that maybe he actually had something of his own planned… Of course, that changes her mental frown into a smirk as she thinks about what he could possibly have planned, and wants to see if she finally found a male who could take her teasing, and even return it. On the outside however, she just kept her playful smirk on her face, before she closed her eyes and allowed sleep to slowly let her drift off.
Meanwhile, unknown to the two, Saya and Kohta had seen and heard everything said, and were staring at them with deadpan faces. "So… When we find Takashi and Rei, should we start a betting pool to see how long it takes for them to get together?" Kohta asks, only for Saya to scoff.
"Are you kidding? By that time it will practically be too late. I wouldn't even bother. At the rate those two are going, they'll probably be together by the end of tomorrow." She tells him. "Or the day after that at best."
"Yeah, you've got a point." Kohta agrees, before the two sigh, and Saya turns to Kohta.
"Now, I'm going to go to sleep. You are going to make sure that Mr. Shido over there doesn't try anything while I'm asleep. Got it?" She asks with a slightly hostile tone, making Kohta look at her in slight fear and rapidly nod his head. "Good." Takagi huffs out, before she leans back in her chair, and allows sleep to take her off to dreamland. Afterwards, Kohta silently sighs to himself, wondering if the pinkette would ever truly know his feelings, and possibly return them…
"Exactly!" George was seriously considering cutting his ears off so he doesn't have to listen to Shido, and he could tell Saya was thinking something similar as she looked annoyed at hearing the slimy bastard keep talking. "That's why we should secure a safe place first. Then make moves together."
Then, as Saya nudges Kohta awake to stop his snoring, Saeko wakes up as well, slowly opening her eyes to see the slightly angered face of George above her as he glares at nothing. She's confused by this at first, before she hears the speech that Shido is giving and a frown makes its way onto her own face.
As she pushes herself off George's chest, he stops glaring, and turns to look at her with a smirk, all signs of hatred and anger gone and replaced by the same look that he had the night before when they were flirting with one another. "Good morning Saeko, I trust you had a good rest?" He asks her, getting a nod in response as she also gains her own smirk on her face as she nods, the two having already easily slipped into the flirtatious atmosphere that surrounded them whenever they were alone from the others in the main group… Or even with them.
"Yes, and I must admit that you make quite a nice pillow." She tells him, making his smirk widen just a bit as he leans towards her slightly.
"Well, does this mean that it will become a reoccurring situation?" He asks her with a raised eyebrow, her eyes gaining a playful gleam in them as she leans forwards as well so that her mouth is right next to his ear, and her right hand is resting on his chest.
"Perhaps…" She whispers in a seductive tone that sends shivers running down George's spine at what her voice suggests, but he maintains his smirk as he pulls back slightly to look her in the eyes.
"Well, I have to say that I wouldn't object to that." He whispers, making Saeko's flirtatious smirk change to an almost preditorial one much like the night before as she pulls him towards her by his sleeveless shirt, and presses her ample breasts into his chest as her eyes stare into his own.
"Then perhaps I should just use you as a mattress…" She whispers in a sultry tone that would have almost any man down on their knees, begging her to do just that. However, George's own smirk turns feral as he places his left hand on her waist, and slightly squeezes.
"Then I'll just have to use you as a blanket…" He whispers back, his tone changing and becoming deeper than before as Saeko's preditorial smirk remains on her face while she leans closer to him so that they're foreheads are touching, and she's pressing her breasts against his chest even more as the atmosphere around them gets slightly more heated, the two not knowing that at that moment in the backs of their minds, they'd already realized that they'd found the person that matched them perfectly in every way…
And they wouldn't fully know that yet either, since at that moment, Shido starts to get louder as he continues to give his speech to his group of students in the back, and the two snap out of their flirtatious trances, and look back at the man with distaste, before it changes to outright disgust as he finishes his speech, gets applauded… And then starts to "flirt" with one of the girls easily twenty years younger than him, at least.
"He's starting to piss me off." George muttered, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"Hirano! Stop." George heard Saya hissing and turned towards her to see the pink-haired girl nudging Kohta in the ribs. The American was honestly surprised that she was able to get any kind of sleep with him snoring up a storm and seeing him drool was her last straw.
It worked like it worked and he stirred awake. "Takagi…morning…" Kohta said with a sleepy voice and barely opened eyes. "Is it time to get up already?"
"Yes, it's morning," Saya replied in annoyance. George stepped up and stretched his body, resulting in some satisfying pops and clicks. Saya backed away from Kohta slightly and looked at him in disgust. "Ugh, and you're drooling."
Kohta wiped his chin with his uniform's sleeve and looked out the window. "Sorry."
"I'm surprised any of us could sleep well with slimeball on the bus with us." George said, casting a hate-filled look at Shido.
"Look at that," said Kohta, pointing out the window. George looked at the window on their side and saw what he was talking about. There were people getting out of their cars and were turning to walking up the street, as the people in their cars honked their horns. Some of the police were out and trying to maintain order by directing people that were walking in an orderly manner, as the civilians were carrying suitcases and whatever else they could bring. "I think it's better to evacuate to the suburbs."
"Cars ain't the only way to get out of here," Saya said, pointing to something outside. Seeing that she was pointing skywards, Georhe walked over to their side and looked. There was a lone jet flying up in the air.
"The airport?" George asked, looking at Saya. "Isn't that out in the ocean?"
"That's right." Saya nodded in agreement. "It's far too dangerous to be anywhere in the city. I bet a bunch of people are trying to escape to some island or some isolated area with some kind of strong military presence, or something." She put a hand on her chin and crossed one leg over the other, getting into a thinking pose.
"Like Okinawa," asked Kohta. "But the American military that's stationed there isn't there to fight…Oh, but their self-defense forces."
"If the military has taken appropriate measures, then I'm betting Okaido or Kyushu should be okay, too. If planes are leaving, then all flights are heading to those areas." Saya said.
"But it's likely that was their last flight," George said, knowing how fast the military works. "Leaving the rest of us to bite the dust."
"You're right," Saya said with a nod, "and the areas with heavy presence of American military and Self-Defense forces may be managing to keep the Dead under control, but I'm sure they've already adopted a stern policy towards letting anyone else in. You know, Edwards, sooner or later it's going to be that way everywhere else in the world. I mean, would you do in the same situation?"
"I'd seclude myself," answered Kohta. George could almost see it. Kohta locking himself in a dark room and playing video games with a quilt wrapped around his body.
"That's not really a good plan, Kohta," he said with a little laugh. "First, you'd be trapping yourself and just the slightest noise will bring the Dead to you. Plus, it's not too hard to think that no city on the planet is safe after seeing what happened yesterday. My plan would be to save what remains, mainly people and have them work together as a group. Watching each other's backs and maybe build some kind of community outside the city or in an area that's far from the rest of the city, like a mall."
"You're right, but there's still a problem with that," Saya said to George. "What would happen when you create that community and there's too many people? You can only have so many resources from a mall and it wouldn't be enough to keep everyone full. You'll have to make as small of a community as possible to survive."
"Well, my solution to that is to make supply runs out into the city, and as for long lasting food, we'll make gardens up on the roof of wherever we end up."
Saya thought for a moment. "You're getting somewhere. But just look at him," she said, gesturing towards the back. George looked and saw the snake looking at a female student with a disgusting face as he caressed her face. But it didn't look like she mind it. "You can already see that he wants to keep the group as small as possible, though I doubt that he sees it himself. This all happened overnight when you went to sleep."
"Likely whispered into their ears to keep me from waking up."
Kohta raised his nailgun. "Should I interrupt them?"
"Forget the prevy teacher and slutty little Sally over there," Saya told him. Which wasn't too far off. If George remembered correctly, her name was Yuuki Miku. He didn't know much about her, but remembered that she was highly sexual in nature. Fucking more guys than any other girl in the school. "I should consult with someone I can trust."
"Well, I'm still here if you want someone to talk to," George said before smirking a little. Time for a little payback for making off of his love life. "Or would you rather have Takashi?" Saya looked at him with crimson cheeks.
Kohta however looked more depressed by the notation. "Yeah, she like Komuro, I know."
Saya's face flushed even more and she looked at him in embarrassment. "D-Don't be ridiculous!" She yelled. George cleared his throat and the pink-haired girl turned her head and gasped when she saw Shizuka and Saeko standing right next to her seat. Shizuka looked more interested while Saeko looked disinterested.
"Looks like you've got an audience." George said with a grin.
"Shut up, Edwards!" Saya yelled at him.
A few hours later, of which the sun was beginning to set, as well as an actual bonding session between George and Saeko, which consisted of sharing things about one another, Shido finally makes a drastic mistake in his speech. "…And realize this my dear friends, Komuro and Miyamoto… Were unfit to be in our family." Shido tells the teens at the back of the bus, and the main group that's gathered at the front send glares in his direction.
"This guy's a goddamn maniac." Saya scoffed.
"Oh really, we didn't notice?" George retorted in a smartass tone, getting a glare from Saya. "God, I want to shut him up. He sounds like he's preaching about joining some satanic cult. We may have to get off this bus sooner than we expected, especially with this shit going down."
"Judging by the condition on the road, looks like we'll have to give up our ride anyway." Saeko turned to George and said, "We're still supposed to meet up with Komuro, so we'll have to somehow get across Onbetsu Bridge and get to the East Police Station. What do we do, George?"
Saya decided to have fun and looked at Saeko with a teasing look. "You sure are quite fond of Edwards, aren't you?" She asked with a small adjustment of her glasses. "But aren't you worried about your own family?"
Saeko turned to her and smiled. "Of course, I am, but my father is my only family, and he's at the dojo overseas. So, the only people I really need to be worried about right now is myself and George. Really don't care about anybody else," she told Saya. The pink-haired bitch growled at her with a twitching eyebrow. "And just look at me. I mean seriously, if any of us are going to make it out of here alive, it's going to be me, right?" Saya gave her a sarcastic little laugh.
"You're just patronizing her, aren't you?" George asked with a knowing smirk.
"Kind of."
Then Shizuka asked, "So, where is everyone's house?"
"The other side of the bridge," Saya said. "The same as with Komuro's."
"Oh, my parents are not in the neighborhood," Kohta said, standing up from his seat. He then looked a little sheepish. "But…I'd go anywhere as long as I'm with Takagi."
Saya backed away from him in disgust, but George and Saeko found it amusing. It was obvious that despite how unkind Saya was to Kohta, he was still openly expressing his care for her. "So tell me, Hirano, where's your family?" Saeko asked. "They close?"
"My father's a jeweler, so he's gone to Amsterdam to buy stones," said Kohta. "My mother is a fashion designer, so she's been staying Paris to—"
Christ! Do you really expect us to believe all that crap?!" Saya snapped at him, while Saeko and George were silent from shock hearing his backstory.
Shizuka laughed sweetly. "And if it were a manga, daddy would be the captain of a cruise ship. A giant luxury liner."
Kohta rubbed his hair sheepishly, as Jack grabbed his plate carrier and started putting on. "My grandpa actually was. And my grandmother was a concert violinist," he said before laughing awkwardly. Saya was bent over and clenching her head. Groaning her complaints about his looks."
"So, what are we gonna do?" Asked Shizuka, smiling at the teenagers. "I want to come along with all of you."
"You sure?" asked Saya.
"Both of my parents passed away years ago, and all my relatives live far away," the blonde nurse explained, before looking at the back of the bus with unease, before speaking in a hush voice. "I know I shouldn't be saying this, but I…I think Mr. Shido's kind of a douchebag."
"We're in agreement there." George said, the others nodding in agreement with chuckles. George then got serious. "So, that's our plan. We get off this bus and go find Takashi and Rei at the chosen location to meet up with them. Grab your things, everyone."
Everyone nods and started grabbing their weapons, in George, Kohta and Saeko's cases, while Shizuka grabbed her bag and Saya... well, she didn't really have anything with her. However, their actions got Shido's attention.
"Um…what's the matter, everyone," he asked with a smile.
"This bus is no longer safe," George told him. "If we stay for too long, the Dead with catch up. We're going to move out on foot. You're free to stay if you want."
Shido's smile faded. "Oh, is that true?" he asked the others of George's group. "We need to work together, otherwise none of us are ever going to get—"
Saya cut him off when she turned to him and said, "Thanks for the offer, but I'm gonna pass, Mr. Shido. We've got our own plans. And FYI, this is no field trip. I've no obligation to be with you! I never had any classes with you, anyway!"
"You weren't missing much." George said, noticing that Tsunoda had stood up with an angered look on his face.
"I see…" said Shido with a calm and calculating tone, and a face that formed a smirk. George didn't like the look in his eyes and as his hands were at his side, he slowly moved his right hand up a little to make contact with his holster. Then, in typical evil villain fashion, he put his hand together with the fingers touching each other. "If that's what you've decided, go right ahead. I won't stop you, Takagi. How could I? This is a free country, not some iron-fisted dictatorship." He chuckled. "However…."
He licked his lips in a sick, perverted way, causing George to grip his axe tightly, ready to swing it.
"I'm afraid you will have to remain, Ms Marikawa." Shizuka gasped in horror as Shido said, "Losing the doctor is a major blow to our current situation." He adjusted his glasses and began to slowly walk towards the group. Apparently not noticing that George was ready to cleave his head in with his fireaxe. But that's good. He wanted him to have that false sense of superiority. "Would you please stay? What do say? There are students who are relying on you."
And just as he was about to take two steps closer, George lifted his axe. "Take one more step towards her and I'll smash this into your face." George threatened. "Got that? You take one step towards the person who has been like an aunt to me, and you will not live to see tomorrow."
"B-but there are students here who are relying on her. And-and you're not a violent student, George." Shido says, trying to use the teen's first name to calm him down. However, the response he gets is a dark chuckle from the American.
"Oh really? Just how many years of your torment, and the torment of my peers, do you think I've had bottled up? The same amount of Kohta here?" He asks, gesturing to his friend, who now had his nail gun aimed at Shido's head. "You don't think I know what'll happen if Shiuzka stays on this bus with you and your little group of puppets? It's not happening. Girls, get off the bus, Kohta and I will make sure this bastard or his group of idiots doesn't do anything."
"How many of my fellow students did you think I killed in school yesterday?" Kohta asked after being silent. Now his face was covered in rage that not even George has ever seen before. "And I can kill you too, FOR ALL THE WAYS YOU'VE ALWAYS MADE FUN OF ME! I was holding back! I was holding back for a long time! I was holding it back because I just wanted to have a normal life! But there's no need to do that anymore!" That scowl of his turned into a twisted and sadistic grin as the sun reflected off his glasses. "Nothing we know is normal anymore! That's why I'm able to kill now! I can even kill living people, too. Maybe started with the ones who made fun of me!" He aimed his nail gun right at Shido again.
"I made fun…?" Shido backed away, shaking and sweating bullets as he sounded really scared. "You misunderstood, I-I…"
George turned to Saeko. "Time to leave."
Saeko was the one closest to the door, and so, with her bokken in one hand, she opened the door. She stopped and this caused the wind to blow up her torn skirt. Giving George a good view of her strong, perfectly shaped legs and thighs, and panties. As he fought back a storming blush, she said to him with a smile, "You both are true men. I'm impressed."
Saya and Shizuka—who grabbed the medical bag—jumped out of the bus. Then Kohta got out. George walked down the steps of the bus and when he stepped onto the street, he turned around and saw Shido looking at him.
"Happy travels, assholes." George said with sarcasm and shut the door.
"Um, hey…Maybe we were better off staying on the bus with Mr. Shido," Shizuka said nervously as she held her medic bag tightly to her chest. While she and Saya backed away into a railing, George, Kohta and Saeko were taking on the Dead. When they left the bus to strike out on their own towards the East Police Station, they found that the street was full of the undead and they couldn't move up with all of them around.
George brought his axe down repeatedly into the head of a zombie before grimacing as he noticed the axe was on it;s last use and he tossed it aside, picked up a large rock and smashed it off another zombie's head. He then saw a baseball bat lying on the ground, most likely left by someone in a hurry. They were probably playing baseball when the outbreak got out of control. Nevertheless, George picked it up and started bashing heads in.
"Hold on, weren't you the one who said you thought he was a douchebag?" Saya asks her, making Shizuka place her finger to her chin in thought.
"As a matter of fact I did. But he wouldn't be the first douchebag I was stuck on a bus with." She admits, before George backs up slightly.
"That may be true, but I have a feeling that he was the first douchebag you were stuck on a bus with that pretty much openly admitted that he wanted you to stay so that he could rape you." He says, hissing out the word "rape" as he bashes in another zombie's skull. Then, Kohta calls out to the rest of them.
"Just to let you know, I'm running out of nails!" He exclaims, just as Saeko bashes in another zombie's skull with her bokken, and then spins to dodge another one before killing it off as well. Afterwards, she turns around and sarcastically offers her bokken to Kohta.
"Do you want to borrow this?" She asks him sarcastically.
"I really don't do hand-to-hand combat." He tells her, making her turn to another zombie that was closing in.
"I can't say the same." She says, before slashing her bokken through the air. "I'm actually quite fond of it." She admits, before rushing towards the zombies heading in her direction. She easily disposes of them, while George worries about the few that manage to get between the other two as they head towards Shizuka and Saya.
"Each time one of you fuckers gets anywhere near these two, I'm gonna make sure that your brains splatter all, over the bridge!" He exclaims, putting emphasis on words each time he bashes in another zombie's head. However, he ends up focusing on one of them too long, and another makes it by him, heading towards the two women of the group that didn't have weapons. "No!" He exclaims, getting Kohta's and Saeko's attention…
Suddenly, there was the sound of metallic growling and roaring engine. A second later, a Takashi and Rei came flying on a motorbike. Using a nearby truck's ramp to jump over onto the bridge.
"Holy shit." George, Kohta, and Saeko said.
Takashi landed the bike and skidded it across the road, coming towards George. George quickly climbed onto of the nearby car as Takashi swept a large number of the zombies surrounding the American teenager off their feet and kill them when their heads hit the pavement. Then, as Takashi drove away, Rei jumped off the back of the motorbike and stabbed one zombie into the pavement. Two zombies turned their attention to her, only for George to come up and bash one's head in, allowing Rei to take out the other one.
Takashi drove towards Kohta, as the chubby student dropped his empty nail. "Hirano!" Takashi yelled at him and threw him a gun. Kohta caught it and raised it to the sky. He grinned, seeing that it was a Smith & Wesson Model 37. He aimed it at a zombie and shot the gun two times, nearly hitting Takashi as the bullets traveled at supersonic speeds. When they hit the zombie, the rounds went through the head and killed the zombie behind it.
Kohta's grin didn't go away. "Double tap, baby."
After this, Takashi rides closer to Shizuka, Saya and George, and presses down on the brakes so that he's able to spin the bike and knock a few more zombies off the bridge, and into the river below. As he rides away, George looks over to see that one of the ones that had been knocked down before that wasn't dead, and takes the time to stomp it's head in until it's mush. Effectively killing it for good.
While this happens, Takashi and Saeko grab each other by the wrist, before Takashi spins the bike, and lets go of Saeko, allowing her to spin in the air like a top, before coming down into the crowd of zombies below, utterly decimating them. When everything is said and done, Shizuka is the first to speak. "Amazing." She breathes out.
"Looks like it's all cleared for now." Saeko agrees, making George nod as he twirls his bat around. As this is going on, Shizuka and Rei reunite, while George smiles at Takashi.
"Nice to see you made it back in one piece man." He says, fist bumping Takashi as he pushes the bike forwards.
"What, did you doubt me?" Takashi asks, getting a laugh out of George.
"Not for a second man. Not for a second." George says between laughs before Saeko speaks up.
"This must mean that Tokonosu Bridge is also blocked." She says, getting a nod in response.
"Right, there's no way out." He admits, making the two sigh, before Takashi speaks up again. "What are you doing?" he asks, bringing everyone's attention to Kohta as he stands up from his crouched position.
"Komuro! What is this?! How did you get it?! Where are the extra bullets?! This is a Smith & Wesson M37 Air weight that the police use right?! Oh man! The feel! The weight! How good it feels! Awesome!" He exclaims, firing off question and statistics as if he were shooting the gun itself.
"I'll… Tell you later." Takashi says with a sweatdrop while George just chuckles at Kohta's reaction.
After getting off the bridge and went down near the riverbank, they spent the next few minutes talking about what had happened. Takashi and Rei went first, explaining how they came across the bike and the gun, before telling them about how Rei was attacked and Takashi had to shoot him, to the gangs and people that were going around the streets killing both the living and the Dead.
"We got off the bus because the road was blocked," Saeko explained to Takashi. Saya was down by the water and was testing how deep it was. "But we haven't been able to get across the river."
Saya walked up to the group after she was done. "The water has risen, so going further upstream won't help, I guess."
"Then what should we do?" asked Rei.
"I have a thought," said Shizuka, as the sun was lowering in the distance. "It's been such a stressful day, why don't we just call it quits for now?"
"Call it a day?" Kohta asked, a little baffled.
George perked up. "My place is nearby. Well, it's my guardian's place. Shiuzka and I stay there."
"Really?" Saya asked with a raised eyebrow. "So you're staying with the school nurse, huh?"
"Rika's always busy traveling and working with her job. Shizuka and I look after the place." George explained. He'd have to since he stayed there, and Rika was his guardian thanks to the adoption papers signed after the death of his parents. "Look, the point is, the place is big to hold us, it'll give us a view of our surroundings, has food, hot water, everything we need for a permanent residence... least however long we can keep it safe. It's better than sleeping out on the streets. Oh, and there's also guns and ammo there... and also a Humvee."
"Guns and a Humvee!?" Kohta yelled in delight, judging by the stars in his eyes. If anything was going to get him to go to the house, it was those two things. "What are we waiting for?! Show me the Humvee~~!"
"I don't care about guns and a Humvee as much as a shower," Saya said, running a hand through one of her ponytails. "I don't think I've ever felt dirtier in my life."
Kohta got his mind out of his gun obsession and it went right into the gutters as he stared at her with hearts in his eyes and his hand on his chin. "I couldn't agree with you more," he said dearly and with a lecherous grin on his face.
That got him a kick to the face by Saya. "What do you mean by that?!"
As George looked at him with sympathy for a moment, he then turned to Takashi and said, "Mind if I take the bike to clear it out. I know the way to it, so I'll take Shizuka with me to check it out. You'll over things from here." Takashi nodded and George walked over to the motorbike, not noticing that Saeko was staring at him as he and the nurse got on the bike, with Shizuka getting behind George and wrapping her arms around him.
"Well, you weren't lying about the Humvee… Or the fence." Takashi says, looking at the two things mentioned by George beforehand.
"Like I would lie about that stuff. Come on, let's get inside so that I can lock down the-" George cuts himself off as he looks up, drawing the other's attentions.
"What is it, George?" Saeko asks, only for a familiar raspy groan to answer her question, and draw everyone's attention to the zombies milling about.
"Damn it. My guess is someone scaled the wall with their friends, and didn't know what happened once someone was bitten." George growls out, before he sighs. "At least they weren't able to get in." He says, rolling up his sleeve as Takashi does the same while grabbing his bat from Rei.
"Why's that?" He asks him. George, Takashi, Saeko, Rei and Kohta all walk to the fence, open it, and then get ready to charge the hoard.
"I'll show you once we're done here." George responds, getting a nod from Takashi, before they all charge in. It turned into a slaughter, the zombies not standing a chance as they were taken down in groups, before the final one was taken out. Once that was done, George waved Saya and Shizuka inside, closed the fence gates, locked them, and then made his way back up the stairs. When they got to the door, they found two locks waiting for them. One was the standard lock and key one, and the other was a lock that required a keycard. In response, George takes a keycard out of his wallet that was in his pocket, and slides it down, turning on the green light.
"This is why they weren't able to get in. You needed one or the other. If someone tried to pick the key lock, then the one for the keycard immediately activates. If someone tries to hack the keycard one, then the regular lock activates. So, you'd need two lock picks to pick them at the same time. And even if that happened, the keycard lock would just shock the person trying to hack it." George explains, before pushing the door open. "Well, make yourself at home." He tells them, closing and locking the door behind him, before activating the electric current along the fence, and then turning around and smiling. "It's good to be home." He says, and then walks further into the house.
That's it for this chapter everyone. The group has a chance to relax and cool down... and also for George and Saeko to get closer.
