After receiving a mysterious package from the the mailman known as Mike, Lincoln heads upstairs and quickly makes his way to his room, where he closes the door shut so that no one will spy on him as he opens his mysterious package.
Before Lincoln does this, he grabbed one of his shirts and puts it in front of a nearby wall. Now, normally this would be weird if not for the fact that he knew that's where Lisa's hidden camera was located. He didn't want any unnecessary people spying on him, but he didn't want to destroy the camera as the last time a sibling tried to do that, Lisa put them on an operating table...
"Okay, time to see what's in this package!"said Lincoln, before he grabbed the package and began to open it.
It took some time and effort since he didn't have any scissors, but with enough force, he managed to open it a few minutes later. Lincoln took a deep breath as he opened the package to see that there was a letter inside.
He grab the letter and read it.
"Dear Lincoln Loud."said Lincoln while reading the letter out loud."My name is name is Professor Christopher Birch, and I am a Pokemon researcher that specializes in being out in the field. 10 years ago, your grandfather, Leonard Loud, saved my life when I accidentally got cast away to sea. I offered to repay the favor for saving my life, and your grandfather Leonard said I can repay the favor by making you a Pokemon trainer, since he was looking for a birthday present for you and didn't have anything at the time. I told him you would have to be at least eleven years old, and he said that was fine..."
Lincoln momentarily stop reading the letter as he scratched his head. Pokemon trainer, what the heck was a Pokemon he thought...That was the first time he's ever heard that word before other than a few moments ago when he heard of something called the Pokemon League...?
He then decided to continue reading the letter, hoping there would be some kind of explanation.
"In case you were wondering about what a Pokemon trainer is, I'll explain."said Lincoln before he read the next part of the letter carefully.
"Pocket monsters, or Pokemon for short are magnificent creatures that live in special places in the world called regions. Pokemon have the ability to harness the very forces of nature like fire, water, grass, lightning, etc. They are basically animals that have superpowers. Where I live, Pokemon and humans live side by side in almost perfect harmony... although there are a few bad eggs here and there. Anyway, a Pokemon trainer is a human that captures and trained pokémon for the purpose of competitive battle."said Lincoln, before he did a double take as something like that had to be illegal...right?
"Now I know what you're wondering, and no it's not illegal."said Lincoln as he continued reading the letter.
"Pokemon are competitive by nature and will battle each other regardless if they're ordered to or not. This is because pokémon naturally seek out strength, and the only way to get stronger is through battle. This has been their way, ever since their great, great ancestor, the mythical Pokemon called Mew. A very long time ago, Pokemon discovered that the process of getting stronger happens at a much faster rate when join with a human. Ever since, Pokemon will regularly seek out humans to see if they are worthy of capturing them and training them for competitive battle. And if a Pokemon does not like a trainer, it will leave them and search for a new trainer. So don't worry, we don't force Pokemon to do what they don't want to do."said Lincoln, causing him to let out a sigh of relief.
"Well I still have questions about the morality of this but I guess if they're okay with it, then I'll be okay with it."said Lincoln, figuring it was a different culture and it had different rules.
So he decided to forget about his concerns and continued reading the letter.
"I'm sure by now I have your interest, Lincoln. Well allow me to be the bearer of good news. Thanks to some friends your grandfather knows in the Pokemon League, you are eligible to become a Pokemon trainer in the Hoenn region, the place I call home. Hoenn is a set of small Islands located near the Kyushu region of Japan. Hoenn he's a wonderful place filled with many unique kinds of Pokemon, many of whom I'm sure are waiting for a trainer like you. You don't need to reply to this letter as I'm sure sending a letter all the way to kyusha will be expensive. All you have to do is check inside the package, and there you will see everything you will need for your Pokemon Journey."said Lincoln, before he put the letter down so he could inspect what else was in the box.
Inside the boxy found some kind of handheld gaming system kind of console, but Lincoln had a feeling that this wasn't a gaming console of any kind. Next Lincoln found what appeared to be a high-tech cube you would see in a Sci-Fi movie. The last thing Lincoln found was what appeared to be a plane ticket.
With more questions, Lincoln grab the letter again to see if it explain what these three items were.
"The first item you notice is probably the Pokedex. The Pokedex is a handheld device that allows you to identify information on any Pokemon you pointed at."said Lincoln, quickly figuring out that the console like device was the Pokedex.
'Well this will certainly come in handy for someone who has never seen Pokemon before.' thought Lincoln to himself, before he continued reading.
"The next item in the package is called a trainer cube. A trainer cube is a special kind of device that uses the same technology to store Pokemon in pokeballs, special devices that allow Pokemon trainers to carry their Pokemon around. The trainer cube basically shrinks down a specific number of items that you might want to carry with you like camping equipment, extra clothing, Pokemon food, medicine, potions, and other items with the added benefit of not feeling the weight of them at all. It is quite handy for a trainer on the go."said Lincoln, before he inspected the trainer cube.
"Well Lisa will definitely be jealous of this technology."said Lincoln to himself with a smile, as he was sure his genius little sister would be upset by the fact that shrinking technology had already been invented before she could fully invent it.
"And the last and most important item in the packages your plane ticket to the Hoenn region. It is good for one year, which is more than enough time for you to decide if you want to become a Pokemon trainer or not. I will be waiting for you at the final destination of the plane trip, a place known as Littleroot town. I hope to see you within a year, Lincoln Loud, and should you decide to become a Pokemon trainer, I can't wait to see what kind of Pokemon trainer you will become. Thank you again for reading this long letter and I hope to hear from you soon, sincerely Professor Christopher Birch."said Lincoln to himself, before he finish reading the letter.
Lincoln then began checking the pokédex and sure enough there was data on all kinds of creatures he had never seen before. He saw a creature that look like a chicken, one that looks like a mud fish, and one that looks like a green gecko... there was so much more information and Lincoln couldn't help but look through each and everyone.
Unfortunately the image was all he could see as any information was locked... and the Pokedex basically spelled out on the screen that he had to point it in front of a Pokemon in order to get the information.
"This is exactly what I need!"said Lincoln, as he came to a realization.
"I have been looking for something to show everyone that I'm special, and this is it!"said Lincoln with a smile."I'll become a Pokemon trainer in this Hoenn region, and do what I can to show everyone in Royal woods that I'm just as special as my sisters! This is my shot to become a Superstar!"
That is when Lincoln came to a realization.
"Well I can't tell my family the truth... at least the whole truth. Knowing my sisters, they will want to go to and I don't want them to ruin this for me as I need to do this on my own! I know some of them will insist that I can't go alone! But I need to go alone if I want to prove that I'm just as talented as them! This could be my hidden talent, and the only way I'm going to figure it out is on my own! Oh, what to do?"said Lincoln, who began contemplating a plan to get his family to agree to send him to a set of small islands off the coast of the Kyushu region of Japan.
"Got it!"said Lincoln, who quickly came up with an idea.
With a plan in mind, Lincoln quickly made his way downstairs, where his family was having breakfast on the dining table.
"Lincoln! There you are. I was about to give your sisters your bagel."said Lynn Sr, before he noticed the serious look on his son's face.
"What's wrong, sweetie?"inquired Rita, who noticed the serious look on her son's face at the same time her husband did.
"Emergency family meeting!"declared Lincoln, causing his family to complain as they stopped eating.
He didn't blame them as it was a family rule that when someone announces an emergency family meeting, everyone in the house has to stop doing what they're doing so that they could go to the meeting. That is exactly what everyone did as Lynn Sr, Rita, Lori, Leni, Luna, Luan, Lynn, Lucy, Lola, Lana, Lisa, and Lily made their way to the living room, before they sat down in their respective seats so they could have the family meeting.
"What's this family meeting about, Lincoln?"inquired Lori, wondering why your little brother called an emergency family meeting.
"Well I want to do something, but first I need to ask that a question."said Lincoln, before he turned his attention towards his father?"Dad, do you know someone by the name of Professor Christopher Birch?"
"Oh, Professor Birch. Yeah, I know him! He and my father go way back! In fact, I owe professor Birch a lot as he lent us money during someone more more difficult times. What about him?"inquired Lynn Sr, wondering how Lincoln heard of him when he's never mentioned Professor Birch before.
"Well apparently he and Gramps made a deal a few years ago where I would go help him with his research. Apparently Gramps needed a birthday present and he figured I would like it, but Professor Birch told him I could only help him out when I was at least Eleven years old."said Lincoln, who was technically telling the truth.
"Hmm, that does sound like something my father would do. But how do you know this?"inquired Lynn Sr, wondering how his son knew this.
"Well I just got a late package in the mail from Mike. I opened it and apparently in the letter, Professor Birch has invited me to go stay with him in his home town, which is located on an island off the coast of the Kyushu region of Japan."said Lincoln, before he covered his ears as he knew what was going to come next.
"WHAT?!"shouted every member of the Loud family, besides Lincoln.
'It's now or never! Now to use my skills as the man with the plan to convince my family to send me to Hoenn!' thought Lincoln, who was determined to get his family's permission to go to an island off the coast of Japan.
After all, it was the only way he was going to find out if he was skilled as a Pokemon trainer or not!
(Will Lincoln be able to convince his family to send him to Hoenn? Find out next time as the journey continues)
(To Be Continued)
As all of you know, Hoenn won the vote system.
The team has mostly been decided, but if you want to make any suggestions I won't stop you. Vote away on any pokémon you want Lincoln to have on his journey.
I'm probably going to make him a contest coordinator as well... but I'm still not sure.
I also have a little surprise for everyone when Lincoln finally makes it to Hoenn and gets his starter Pokemon... I hope you all like it when it's revealed.
I'm kind of nervous people as although I have been writing stories and notebooks for a long time... I'm not used to writing on the internet where the whole world could see what I write.
But hopefully I will improve as time moves on!
I hope I get lots of support from all of you!
Strategus, out!
