Chapter 4

Jonathan picked at the lock for the side door while I stood watch. We wore black jackets. We technically were committing a crime. Jonathan cursed under his breath as he threw another broken lock pick.

"That was our last one." He whispered. I stood there in thought, then pulled a bobby-pin out of my hair.

"Will this work?" I whispered back, handing him the pin. He took it, examining it for a bit. I looked away as he worked, wrapping the jacket around me. The cold, night air stung. I heard the door click and Jonathan silently celebrate. I turned back and saw the door open. He waved for me to head in. I followed behind him. We did our best to remember where the room Freddy was in. And our way out. Suddenly, Jonathan stopped.

"What is it?" I whispered. I looked up at his face. His dark hair hung over his shifting, green eyes.

"Did you hear that?" He whispered back. I looked around and listened. I heard metal shift. I stood closer to Jonathan as he stood tall, ready to fight. The metal shifted faster.

Suddenly, a robot jumped in front of me.

"Take a map."

Jonathan and I jumped, Jonathan's fist flying into the robot's face. The robot stood there, unfazed, holding out a map. I stiffly took the map from it.

"Thank you. Please enjoy." It said, then turned and drove off.

I glanced at Jonathan and met his eyes. He shrugged. I opened up the map, hoping to find the room. Jonathan hovered over my shoulder and glanced at the map.

"There." He whispered, pointing at a spot on the map.

"It's under the stage?" I whispered back, confused. He shrugged the walked forward. I followed behind him. The walls looked familiar as we passed them.

After a while of walking, I suddenly stooped, a chill ran up my spine. I grabbed Jonathan's arm, forcing him to stop. He turned and looked at me.

"Wha-"

Suddenly we heard a howl. His eyes widened.

"Run!" He yelled. I looked up at his face. I didn't want to leave him. He pointed to my left. "The room is that way, I'll stop Roxy!"

I hesitated, then ran in the direction he pointed. I heard metal scrap against the concrete floor. I ran as hard as I could. I heard Jonathan punch and grunt. I dashed into the room, searching for some sort of weapon. I found a bent pipe. I huddled close beside the door. I heard limping footsteps. I held my breath and swung the pipe as hard as I could.

"Ow!" Jonathan cried, grabbing the side of his head.

"Jonathan!" I yelled. I ran up to him and looked at his head. "I'm so sorry!"

"It's fine, ow, what did you hit me with?" He said, rubbing where I had wacked him. I held up the bent pipe.

"We should hang onto this." He chuckled, taking it into his own hands. I grinned. He smirked at me, then it fell as he looked behind me. His eyes wide. I turned and gasped. S.T.A.F.F bots and endoskeletons laid scattered on the ground, scraped up and missing some parts. I quickly looked toward the machined and let out a sigh of relief. Freddy was still there I walked over to the machine and turned it on, activating Freddy. His eyes flipped open. I ran inside while Jonathan waited outside of the machine, looking around. I punched the keys on the computer to activating Freddy's body. He sat up and looked at me.

"You.." he said, quietly.

"Yes it's me, Gregory is fine." I reached into my pockets and pulled out the board. "Do you know where the rest of it is?"

Freddy's eyes lit up in surprise. "I thought I gave you the whole thing." He reached behind his head and pressed a button, lifting the back of his head. I got a good look on the inside as he tried to pull on the rest of the board. It collided and got stuck between his circuits. It sparked and Freddy glitched.

"Stop, stop! You'll hurt yourself." I said, stopping his hand. I tapped on the board and Freddy twitched. I shut the back of his head. "I'll take you home. My tools could help dislodge the mind board without destroying your other circuits." I said, pulling back. Freddy's cracked eye flickered. He stood up, creaking with every joint in his mechanical body. He fell forward a little before I caught him.

"It's time to go." Jonathan hissed. I helped Freddy walk steady as we exited the machine. Freddy stared at Jonathan.

"Your injured." Freddy spoke, stopping in his tracks. Jonathan looked at Freddy, then me. He sheepishly rolled up the left leg of his pants.

Claw marks. Giant ones.

I gasped. "She got you?!" Jonathan looked away and nodded, slowly. Freddy wouldn't budge. I let go of Freddy's arm and walked up to Jonathan. I took off my jacket and wrapped it around the cuts. "It will have to do for now." I said, giving him a small smile. Jonathan looked at me and gave me a small grin. He stood up.

"Let's go." He said. I walked up to Freddy and wrapped his arm around the back of my neck. Freddy looked like he snapped out of a trance. We walked down the hall. I realized Jonathan was faster then me, even with an injury. So fast that I lost sight of him.

"John?" I called. No answer.

"Jonathan?" I called more urgently.

Nothing. I heaved Freddy's arm more tightly and walked faster. I hoped this was a joke or he just couldn't hear me.

Suddenly Jonathan slumped in front of the doorway at the end of the hall. He looked at me, collapsing to his knees. Tears welled up in his eyes. And mine.

"John.." I said, shaking. He shook his head, giving me a somber smile.

"I'm sorry. I love you.." he mouthed. He shuddered and fell forward, a knife lodged in his back. A blood covered bunny stood behind him, dislodging the knife with a sickening grin.
