Chapter 5

I let go of Freddy and ran for Jonathan. I fell to my knees and held his head, tears streaming down my face. My mind shattered. It was happening all over again.

"I knew you would be crawling back.." the raspy voice echoed in my head. "You could have prevented this if only you had joined me."

Freddy came by my side and stared at the body. I stared at him, hoping there was something we could do. Freddy sadly looked at me and shook his head. I sobbed.

"Riley Afton.." The voice hissed. "Rise."

"I'm not an Afton." I whispered. Freddy looked at me, confused.

"I said, RISE." The voice said, more forcefully. The white bunny's knife glinted through the gloomy hallway.

"I'm not an Afton!" I screamed. I picked up the pipe from Jonathan's limp arms and ran towards the bunny. I swung as hard as I could and slammed it against the bunny's head. The bunny fell to the ground, the mask flying. Under the mask was Vanessa, or the other one? I didn't care anymore. Anger surged through me, my tears blurred my vision. Freddy put his hand on my shoulder. I threw my head around in anger. Freddy looked at me sadly. The anger slowly dispersed and I fell to my knees, crying. Freddy creaked as he sat next to me, his big arm wrapped around me. I sobbed into his cold metal chest.

I sighed out a final sob then looked at Freddy's face. His cracked eye flickered again.

"We need to go." I whispered, standing up. I heaved Freddy to his feet. With one hand, I wrapped his arm around my neck and walked toward the exit.

"Where will we go?" Freddy asked.

I wiped my tears with the back of my hand as I held the pipe in my right. "My house."

"Is Gregory there?" He asked. I nodded. We got to the door that Jonathan had unlocked. My chest hurt. I took Freddy through and closed the door. Then I realized a problem.

Jonathan had drove us here.

I turned from the car and started walking. About halfway out of the parking lot, I heard the door behind us open. I looked back. It was the bunny lady. And she did not look happy. I started walking faster. Freddy did as well. I scolded myself. Would my life be different if I had just took his deal? Then Jonathan would still be here. And Chuck.

Chuck.

If I had took that deal, he would still be alive.

I used the back of my free hand to wipe away my tears as I walked.

"She's coming." Freddy hissed. I looked behind us. I cursed softly under my breath as I saw her getting closer. I pulled Freddy toward an alleyway.

"We got to split up." I said, lowering Freddy's arm off my shoulders. "Can you walk without me?"

He nodded his head and slowly stood up straight. "You head over, I'll catch up."

I shook my head. "No, you're in no condition. What if you're caught? Gregory would be devastated an-"

Freddy grabbed my shoulders. "Gregory would be devastated if he lost you." He looked at me straight in the eye. "You are Gregory's priority."

A single tear rolled down my cheek. I looked down. "I can't loose anymore people." I whispered.

Freddy lifted my chin up, the same way I did when I was reassuring Gregory. "I've watched a brave man die tonight, and that's saying something with the history of Freddy's." He wiped away my tear.

Suddenly, we heard a crash from around the the corner. I stole a peek and found the bunny lady searching through trash cans, throwing them when she didn't find what she was looking for.

Us.

I turned back to Freddy. He put his giant hand on my shoulder.

"Gregory needs you. You head over and I'll follow close behind." He said, quietly. I nodded. There was no arguing. I walked toward the opposite end of the alleyway. There were two exits. I turned my head and looked at Freddy. He smiled at me. I gave him a small smile back then turned back toward the exits. I turned right and ran.
