Ricky and the NFC West
Part 6: The 12s
HOK, Next day...
Ricky went down the stairs of the main room, looking around until he saw RZ.
Ricky: *Smiles* Morning RZ.
RZ: *smiles* Good morning Ricky. I was not expecting you to arrive so early.
Ricky: Wanted to check on Rampage and talk with Freefall on something. Is he here?
RZ: *Nods* He is, in the first aid section of the HOK. Rampage is still asleep so I would suggest seeing Freefall first.
Ricky: Thanks RZ.
.
.
Ricky reached the door, taking a breath before knocking.
Freefall's voice: Come in.
Ricky opened the door, getting the vibe of a doctors office and waiting room. Freefall was looking over some paper work, turning to see Ricky.
Freefall: *smiles warmly* Knew you come here with what happened yesterday. Good to see you are doing well.
Ricky smile grew a bit there, happy to hear that Freefall was not only expecting him but was happy to see he was doing okay with all that happened.
Ricky: I am, needed the good nights rest. How about you and the others?
Freefall: *organized the papers* We're doing well knowing Rampage was safe now. He's doing well today too, still asleep but he was up for two days so he needs the rest. *head gestures* Why not have a seat, just looking over some paper work so I should be done soon.
Ricky took the offer and went to sit down-before freezing in place as he starred at something. Freefall took a glance, stopping what he was doing.
Freefall: *worried* Ricky, is everything okay?
Ricky blinked a few times and -
Ricky: *shock* YOUR A UNIVERSITY GRADUATE!?
Freefall got up to see what he was looking at..he chuckled as he saw the framed degree as well as a picture.
Freefall: Oh yeah. To answer your question, yes I am. Georgetown University, the medical department. The dean of that department, *small blush* heh, saw me give a lesson to the president, his wife and the governors at the time. He offered me a scholarship to the school, and I really wanted to improve my skills so-I took it.
Ricky: *shock* That makes so much sense on your skill-Hold on you done all that before you came to earth?
Freefall blushed a bit more nodding.
Freefall: Yeah..I, mostly gathered Rusherz last wishes during my teenage years..not gonna go into detail on where I put them but It certainly helped with Claw after Sudden Death's defeat. So I have a vastly large knowledge on our bodies and systems. Lost count on the amount of times I patched us up back in the temple. So this opportunity was a blessing.
Ricky: And, if I'm being honest, given you guys track record that has come more handy to the point it's common place.
Freefall laughed, nodding and agreeing; Ricky had a VALID POINT.
Freefall: Kid you are spot on right there. Good news is emergency's are not common; but let me tell you, more times than not I had to give someone stitches, or they had a bleeding nose, and DON'T GET ME STARTED ON BROKEN BONES.
Ricky couldn't help but join in with some chuckles, Freefall had seen it all indeed.
Freefall: Some from us sure but when you humans bring us into the fray SHARDS OF THE CORE it gets ugly. I mean, K-9 and the rest of us nearly took out Browns nation after the Bottlegate incident when one of the glass shards cut Spot. Big mistake messing with the Rusher who is our adopted little brother.
Ricky's thoughts: Side note, do not mess with Spot.
Freefall: Will admit some of my fans have been getting into that type of fray, unfortunately. Let me tell you fans can be powerful for good and bad. This recent one from the 2012 season, my team vs. the Cowboys..that year I swear i was busy medical wise that year not just with Claw and Steed. There was a altercation and, of course, Lasso being the golden star studded heart he is tried to stop it. It didn't end well-
September 16, 2012...
Freefall sighed as the two fans vanished, yet he was worried on where Lasso was. Getting the okay from his team, he was looking around the halls for the missing Cowboy. He soon spotted the team's colors going over.
Freefall: Lasso you-
His words faded as he sprinted over. He saw Lasso was bruised up, holding his chest as he limped. Looking up Freefall saw he had a split lip and a nose bleed.
Lasso: *bit of pain* I know what your gonna say, and I'll say it right now yes; huge mistake.
Freefall took action fast helping Lasso to the first aid room.
.
.
Freefall: *sets cotton ball aside* Okay, now. Let's check your leg out.
Lasso nodded, holding his nose with a tissue as Freefall looked over his leg.
Lasso: Broken?
Freefall: Thankfully no, just dislocated. I'm going to put it back in place so brace yourself.
Lasso nodded closing his eyes, and wince with a quiet gasp as Freefall cracked the bones into place. Freefall nodded before grabbing some gauze and wrapping his leg.
Freefall: I would suggest that you take it easy on that leg for a while though. I'll let the police know that you got injured so they have more to work with when we catch them. -sighs- I'm happy that the others tried to stop them but I would rather not those fans getting injured.
Lasso: Y-Yeah. Sorry for making you work on game day.
Freefall smiled warmly at him, shaking his head.
Freefall: It won't be the first nor last time, besides helping you guys means the world to me. I'm happy you were not severely injured.
Lasso smiled at this. Freefall finished wrapping and put the gauze away, closing up the box.
Freefall: And there we go. You should be fine in a couple of days, so just take it easy okay.
Lasso smiled nodding.
Present...
Freefall: And there was what happened with Pillage during the game between the Raiders and 49ers, as well as after Al Davis Death. He did not take it well and needless to say he needed some more time to heal his wound-
November 8, 2012...
Pillage was in his room sadly looked at the screen of some past games with the team, jumping a bit when he heard his name being called. He turned around seeing Freefall at the doorway.
Freefall: Pardon me, But I want to check on how your shoulder stitches are doing.
Pillage: *small smile* Sure.
Freefall went over, checking over the Raider Rusherz' Shoulder.
Freefall: How are you feeling? And I mean emotionally wise.
Pillage sighed, looking tired.
Pillage: It's-still hard to be honest Freefall. Al, you know how much he meant to me. Yeah Yeah he was stubborn, but he was just as passionate about the game and our team. I got word from Mark, turns out he had a rare skin cancer called-urg can't pronounce it for the life of me.
Freefall: If I may try, is it Merkel-Cell Carcinoma?
Pillage: *nods* Yeah, that's the one. He also had a congestive heart and heart muscle disease. It-hurts.
Freefall stopped, worrying he had hurt Pillage but one look at his face and he could see he was hurting emotionally. Freefall sat next to Pillage.
Freefall: It will for a while. Listen, if you need to take some weeks off I can do that for you. You just got back from being at his grave for ten days, I want you to take your time healing.
Pillage gave a small tired smile.
Pillage: I think I just need someone to talk to about this, and not just keep it all in. I'm sorry if I worried you being at the grave for so long.
Freefall: *shakes his head* The important thing is making sure your doing okay. Like Rampage said last thing Al wants is for you to get sick. If you want to talk, me and the others doors are always open.
Freefall had to blink when Pillage hugged him. He hugged him back very soon.
Pillage: Thanks, Freefall.
Present...
Freefall: He got better thankfully, both his injury and his emotions. Swoop wanted to learn from me about the medical field after the fire incident with Blow-Torch, *Smiles more at the thought* He's a excellent student and has been a great help to me.
Ricky smiled, that's when a though came to him.
Ricky: So, what happens when your the one who gets hurt or sick?
Freefall hummed at the question.
Freefall: Same as the rest. Did give them my own scare back during the great merger. But, one I'm thinking about right now was-about back in 1997. Been having some stressful years with the whole Baltimore/Cleveland situation, trying to keep the Rusherz healthy during all that and the team almost relocating. Paul Allen bought the team sure, but damage to my health was already done-
1997,
Freefall was shaking, trying to take breaths without wheezing. His chest ache and he couldn't move, his body feeling stiff. Paul Allen walked in, worry on his face seeing Freefall still on the bench.
Paul Allen: Okay, team's in the know...Still bad?
Freefall nodded weakly. He coughed in the tissue in his hand, seeing the mucus on it. Paul knew this was no ordinary cold, reason why he took Freefall to the doctors. NOT GOOD RESULTS. He nodded ready for the next step.
Paul Allen: Okay, I'm gonna call the other Rusherz now.
He looked at the RZComm screen and pressed a button. It a minute and soon, Liberty appeared.
Liberty: *surprised* Mr. Allen, is everything okay?
Paul Allen: First, still new to this but man is this helpful. Now for the major situation, Freefall's ill. Really ill. We just got back from the doctors, he's got acute bronchitis.
Liberty paled hearing this.
Liberty: I'll let the others know and get him right away!
...
Swoop: Jeez, he's as pale as a ghost. I guess his body hit his limit with that's been going on, running around with all the differnt environments at a rapid pace got to him.
Swoop felt Freefall's forehead, Liberty gently grasping his hand.
Liberty: Thank you so much Paul for taking him to the doctors and helping him.
Paul gave a small smile as Liberty gently lifted Freefall up.
Paul Allen: Of course, I figure you want to take him home so he could heal up.
Liberty: Greatest idea getting you as the team's new owner. Owe you one Paul.
Swoop: We'll keep you guys updated on him.
Paul Allen: Thank you guys so much. *goes down; rubs Freefall's forehead* You get well soon okay.
Freefall gave a small weak smile nodding as all three leap into the portal.
.
.
Freefall mind swam a bit, before he regained consciousness. He had a few glimpses on what happened; he'd gotten sick, Paul called and the others came...everything else was a blur. He wheezed as he looked around his room, seeing Liberty and Stampede next to him with small smiles.
Freefall: *tired smile;sick;raspy* Hi.
Stampede: Hey there. How you feeling?
Freefall: *sick;raspy* Bit sore in the chest area. I-I manage to hear I caught acute bronchitis. -wheezy sigh- NOT SURPRISE.
Liberty: *brushes his head* Well you've been putting you all in all that has been going on. No wonder you body reached it's limit.
They head the door knock right there.
Spot's voice: Hey, is Freefall awake?
Stampede: Yes, he's awake. You all can come in.
The door opened and Spot immediately went to the bed, gently nuzzling Freefall's head as the others came in.
Freefall: *sick;raspy* Hi guys
Toro: Hey there, your looking a bit better.
Freefall: *sick;raspy* Oh? How long was I out?
Swoop: You were out of it mind wise for a week. Was awake but not home in the brain.
Freefall: *sick;raspy* That explains a bit. Still got five weeks to go.
K-9: You just take it easy though okay. We'll take turns keeping an eye on your team and the shard.
Liberty: So just give you all getting better now okay.
Freefall gave a tiny warm smile.
Freefall: *sick;raspy* I will, thank you guys. I-I'm really happy your all here.
Present...
Freefall: They took care of me and the team for the six weeks I was out. I am so happy I have such great friends, and I am so happy that I am able to help them. Not just with football, I am so happy I am able to help them beyond that.
Ricky starred at Freefall in awe and admiration. He was able to do so much with his passion. He, Peck, Pick-Ax, Rampage, their passions outside of football he could see how they helped them and others out so much...and he wanted to do that to.
Ricky: Freefall?!
Freefall looked up to Ricky.
Ricky: Can you-Can you please teach me and the others first aid?!
