Chapter 10

48 Hours Later

Lucas awoke slowly. They had been in the hospital for 2 days.

Brooke had been sleeping on and off. Not really doing anything else but that. While medication worked it's way through her system.

Lucas peeled himself off the chair he had been sleeping on.

With a knock at the door the doctor came inside with the ultrasound machine.

"I can wait in the hallway for awhile if she isn't ready to be examined." The doctor suggested.

"She's been doing nothing but sleeping for two days. I want her to have sometthing to eat and drink. Can that be done once she's up or not.?" Lucas asked.

"I would rather see about examing her first. Just to see what the next steps should be. Once we know that. She is free to eat and drink as much as she needs too." The doctor replied.

"I want to be examined now." Brooke said.

"Let's see what's going on." The doctor said.

Lucas made his way over to Brooke. Taking her hand in his.

The doctor put on the gel and started to move it around.

When the doctor announced that the medication had worked and not only stopped but slowed down the later process.

Lucas let out a sigh of relief.

Brooke felt tears fall from her eyes. As she heard the faint but strong heartbeat.

The couple were relieved to be able to go home.

Brooke had to be on bed rest until further notice.

The doctor didn't want her moving around or stressed in anyway.

For the remainder of the pregnancy.

Lucas was more then okay with pampering and catering to his wife.

Throughout this time. As much as he could.

Truthfully he was thinking about taking time away from the office all together.

He write and meet his deadlines from home.

"Luke I would love to have you with me here."

"But i can't ask you to stay and put you're life on hold." Broooke replied. When he brought up the idea to her.

"You're my wife. This is our baby. Our pregnancy experience."

"If i had been there that day. You wouldn't of gotten pushed." Lucas said.

"I'm doing this i have no reason not too." Lucas added in.

"I don't want you to resent me." Brooke explained.
