Structured Chaos
Chapter 11
Weeks Later
By the time Brooke was 15 weeks along. Everyone close to us and in town knew about the pregnancy. People closest to us were truly surprised since we had lived without kids for years. But minds and hearts change. That's what i said when anyone asked.
Lucas carefully placed a tray of breakfast food on the bed.
A small bowl of oatmeal. Buttered toast. Some eggs. And some sausage links.
Brooke thanked him. He leaned over and kissed her gently.
With morning sickness finally ending. She could enjoy the sight and taste of food again.
Lucas was having his breakfast nearby.
"How are the two of my favorite people in the world.?" Lucas asked.
"We're wonderful. Everything is progressing the way it should."
"It's like i was never in the hospital. I'm gaining weight. Baby is growing. My body is changing and i'm excited for what's to come." Brooke replied.
"Good. We are following doctors orders. Besides going to the bathroom or needing wash up. You stay safely in bed." Lucas added in.
Weeks Later
Lucas carefully helped Brooke back into their bedroom.
"Our baby was too shy and wouldn't let us see find out the gender."
"I was so looking forward to finding out." Brooke admitted.
"I know but the doctor says that happens sometimes. We'll find out soon enough. I'm going to bring up my laptop from the home office."
"I'll be right back." Lucas said. As he left the bedroom.
Brooke laid down how she was comfortable.
And got out her cellphone. Relieved when the video chat screen. Filled with a familiar face.
"Mrs. Prego Ego. What's going on.?" Rachel asked.
"I look forward to doctor's appointments because that's the only way i get out of this room."
"I have months left. I'm 20 weeks now."
"I love my husband. He's turned his life and schedule around."
"But he's always here and he won't let me leave this room." Brooke confessed.
"He's just looking out for you and the baby. Doctor's orders."
"It can't be easy on either of you but it won't last that much longer."
"A few more months. You can do this." Rachel insisted.
...
"I have to admit Haley. I love being home. Getting this bonding time with Brooke. Being able to really savor and enjoy the pregnancy. I might just stick around after the baby is born for awhile if not longer."
"I have an office at home. Why do i really need to leave to do my work.?" Lucas asked. As the call ended between them.
"Do you have any deadines you're working on.?" Brooke questioned.
"At the moment. I'm done. I have free time to do whatever you want." Lucas replied.
"Come over here." Brooke said.
Lucas placed down his laptop and went over to her.
She leaned over and kissed him.
Lucas kissed her back.
She pulled him closer. Her hands going up his shirt.
Her mouth on his neck. She kissed him again.
Harder this time.
Lucas broke the kiss.
"No. We can't. You heard what the doctor said."
"Nothing can happen between us until after the baby is born and you are going to have healing to do after that."
"Which means we're going to have to wait longer."
"Which i don't care about. Sex is the last thing on my mind." Lucas confessed.
"So you aren't attracted to me anymore? That's what i'm hearing."
"You never wanted a baby. I talked you into it and now i'm paying the price."
"We aren't pregnant. I am. I have the side affects and body changes."
"You're just here for the ride. I'm going through it." Brooke exclaimed.
"I'm right here with you. Being as loving and supportive as i can be. I don't know what else you want or expect from me."
"You want space. You got it." Lucas replied. As he left the bedroom.
