Structured Chaos

Chapter 28

Days Later

The couple did everything on they talked about and more.

While Brooke was front and center on the sidelines at Lucas's book events.

Despite this being a work trip on the small window of off time Lucas had they did more then she expected.

She realized at some point during it all that she had let herself become so wrapped up into being a mom that other areas of her identity had taken a backseat.

"I think we will end up pregnant by the time we're ready to leave LA. Lucas announced.

Brooke pulled on his shirt. Smiling up at him.

Lucas caressed her face with his hand. Running his hands through her sweat soaked hair.

"You seem very proud of yourself." Brooke said.

"I mean there was a noise complaint. From someone also with a suite here. So yes I'm very proud of myself for that." Lucas replied.

Brooke felt herself blush. "That was so humilating." She replied.

"Since when are you shy or modest. Mrs. Scott." Lucas teased.

"I'm not it's just i want some things to stay just between us. And not the world. Especially things like that." Brooke said.

"I'll be more gentle next time." Lucas said.

"I'm the only one watching you. You never have to censor yourself with me especially when we're alone." Lucas reassured her.

"I loved being able to watch you shine and thrive in you're world. Books were never my thing. But you changed that too."

"I want our boys to have a love of reading."

"If we ever have a daughter. I don't need her to look like me."

"All i could ask is for her to have a close relationship with you that i didn't have with my dad growing up. I wanted a bond a relationship with my mom so badly and it wasn't until my 20's that i started to have one."

"I don't want them to feel like we did growing up. Parents breaking you're heart takes a lifetime to heal if ever." Brooke explained.

"That'll never happen." Lucas said. Kissing her gently.

...

The next time Lucas in contact with Arthur was once they were back in Tree Hill and the book tour was over.

"I've called them and texted them. Even tried to go see them."

"Why are they acting like this.?" Arthur exclaimed into his cellphone.

Arthur's ex wife sighed deeply.

"They rarely mention the trips or the gifts. But they do bring up."

"The holidays. Birthdays. Just everyday situations you decided weren't important enough to make a priority."

"They wanted a father. Not an ATM."

"And i wanted a husband. Who you let this job turn you into."

"You became a stranger. And someone me caring about our marriage and lack of communication made me the problem." She admitted. Before ending the call.
