"Jeremy!" Jason shouted as he watched Jeremy slowly fall to the ground. He was able to grab him behind the knees and under his arms just before he hit the ground, scooping him up like he was a small child. He took off at a dead run toward Dr. Wright's office. Josh ran alongside of Jason, looking on in horror as his brother's blood began leaving a trail on the ground as they ran.

"Jason! Allyn is still in Edmond!"

Without stopping, Jason shouted back at Joshua, "I KNOW that! GET her! Get her NOW!"

"Jason, it's a two-day ride..."

"I said GET HER NOW!"

"She won't get here in time, Jason!"

Jason whirled around, making Jeremy's limp limbs jerk from the quick movement.

"She's the only chance Jeremy has! Now GO!" Jason bellowed the last sentence so loudly that it made Joshua jump back a pace.

Aaron had been following the Bolt's as they ran to the doctor's office. He had run just ahead of Jason so he could open the door to the office for Jason.

"Josh, take my horse. He's already saddled for a ride I was about to take. He's the fastest horse we have."

Josh nodded wordlessly to Aaron as he dashed out of the doctor's office. He ran full-speed to the horse, mounted in one swift movement, reined the horse around, while whipping the horse's sides, and charged out of Seattle at a full gallop.

Jason gently laid Jeremy on the exam table, looking around the room frantically. He spotted a stack of clean towels on a shelf and grabbed the stack. He dashed back to Jeremy and pressed one of the towels hard onto Jeremy's bleeding side.

Jeremy's left arm slid off the side of the table with Jason's abrupt movement. Aaron was standing back from the table, but came forward, reached for Jeremy's fallen arm, and gently placed it back by his side. He left his hand a second longer on Jeremy's arm to make sure it didn't slip off the table again. He looked at Jeremy's face and realized it was growing paler by the minute. He turned his eyes to Jason's and saw absolute fear in them.

"I'll get Rachel Sullivan... She has nurses training... And Reverend Adams, in case..." His voice drifted off as he couldn't finish the sentence, but Jason knew what he meant.

"She's all we have at this point." Jason's face looked crestfallen. He put all his strength into applying pressure to Jeremy's wound to try to stem the bleeding. It was all he could do for him at the moment.

As Aaron was leaving to get Rachel, Candy, Lottie, and Gentleman Harry entered. Lottie went immediately to Jeremy, taking his limp hand in hers. Candy stood frozen and silent at the open door.

"Oh, Jason! How bad is he hurt?"

Jason looked over at Lottie with grim expression on his face that said it all. Lottie drew in her breath sharply and looked down at Jeremy's face. Tears instantly filled her eyes, as she put her hand to his forehead and gently brushed back the lock of hair that had fallen over his eyes, just like she had done many times when he was a boy.

"Aaron's gone to get Rachel. But Allyn's still in Edmond on rounds. Why did she have to be gone NOW?", he gritted through his teeth. "Rachel is all we have now. Maybe... Maybe she can do... something. He's just losing so much blood."

The metallic odor of blood was beginning to get stronger in the room. The first towel Jason had pressed into Jeremy's side had soaked through. He threw it on the floor and grabbed another one, again pressing it hard into Jeremy's side in a futile attempt to staunch the flow of blood.

Lottie's eyes met Harry's, imploring him. His head cocked to the side as he cast his eyes to the floor. Lottie went to him as he stood near a corner of the room. She spoke softly to him, but firmly.

"Harry, I love all the Bolt brothers. They're like family to me. But Jeremy is special. I've known him since he was a little boy. I love him to the ends of the earth. I've always felt he was like the son I was never able to have. If anything happens to him, it'll be like losing a child, and I don't know how you recover from that."

Harry knew all too well that you don't recover, you just exist. He didn't want that for Lottie.

"Lottie, I'm not a doctor, but I can promise you that I will do all that I can to help the boy."

Lottie placed her hand on Harry's arm and squeezed it. "Thank you, Harry. That's all I can ask." Tears were streaming down her face. "Now, I think I'll go to the church for a little while, and I'll take Candy with me." Lottie put her arm around a shell-shocked Candy and led her out of the doctor's office towards the church.
