Structured Chaos

Chapter 34

Days Later

Lennox and Logan decorated their highchairs with the breakfast Brooke had attempted to feed them.

Instead of letting this go on. Brooke decided to feed them herself.

When it came to times to eat. The boys were more trying play.

Afterwards they were given a bath and dressed.

Brooke went into her store later each morning because of it but she savored this time. In a few years it would be a memory

"Brooke as you're best friend it's my responsibility to check in with you on a real basis." Peyton said.

Once she made her way over to where Brooke was.

The Clothes over bros sign now turned over.

"I have customers that will be here any minute. Wanting to shop and enjoy their experience here." Brooke replied.

"I'm well aware of that. We're both having daughters."

"They are going to be best friends like we were. And are."

"Which is why i need to know you're pushing Lucas to go back to work.?" Peyton asked.

Brooke turned from her register and gazed up at Peyton.

Swallowing hard.

"You don't get it. I won't have my family torn apart. Especially now. He left me alone. He needs his career and routine."

" His career is what he loves. What adds substance and value to everyday. I won't have him leaving and going down to the cabin again. Or somewhere else."

"I never thought we would have this family and i won't risk it for anything." Brooke explained. The emotion in her voice thick.

Peyton took Brooke's hand in hers.

"Lucas chose you and this life the two of you built."

"If he wanted more he would say it." Peyton insisted.

...

"How does it feel being back here.?" Arthur asked.

"I'm not back. I want to know why you decided to talk to my wife at all.?" Lucas asked.

"She needed to understand what you're putting on hold for her sake. You had goals in mind. And you are holding off on getting what you want and deserve because you wanted to give her what she wants."

"She wanted a baby. You gave her two. Now a third one. Which is a life changing but it doesn't change the fact that we had a plan." Arthur said.

"I know. I remember trust me.I never saw myself as a father at first. I thought i was fufilled in that the life we had."

"But becoming a dad changed me. Yet if i can be honest."

"Maybe having a third baby so soon wasn't the best idea." Lucas confessed.

"You're like the son i never had. You don't need to explain yourself to me." Arthur replied.

...

16 weeks. I had 24 more to go.

Brooke stared at herself in the mirror. She had bought a number of maternity clothes. She enjoyed showing off her changing body.

"Us having lunch together. It's been awhile. Quality couple time." Brooke said. Gazing over at her husband.

"It'll be nice. I won't be home for dinner though." Lucas said.
