authors note : Remember Brooke gave birth at 16 weeks. It's been 8 months which makes Beverly 24 weeks old. Which means at this point if Brooke was still pregnant. She would be 6 months in. Beverly is the size of as big as an ear of corn.
"It's important to let you know where we are in this process."
"Beverly needs to gain fat and her lungs are not quite ready to function in the outside world. Major development for her won't start taking place until 29 weeks."
"Beverly may end up with no life long issues. Or she may end up with lifelong problems. physical movement including walking, balance and coordination (cerebral palsy) • talking, thinking, learning, understanding and behaviour • hearing and/or seeing." "We are doing all we can for Beverly but ultimately it's up to the both of you what happens now." The doctor explained to the couple in a private hospital room. Before leaving to check in on other babies in his care.
"Okay so we keep this going until 29 weeks then see where we are." Brooke announced.
Lucas stared back at her with wide eyes. "Were you listening at all to what problems she could end up with.?" You just want to keep this going knowing it gurantees nothing."
"I don't want that for her. I want her off these machines. She's been attached since she was born. I want her to experience life free. Even if that means we may have to let her go." Lucas admitted.
"Shut up! She's not getting unhooked from anything." Brooke exclaimed.
"My heart is shattering every time i come here. Having to go home to our healthy boys then show up here is so hard."
"They haven't even met her. I fell in love with the idea of having a daughter when we found out she was coming." Lucas said. The emotion in his voice breaking.
