Chapter 7

A Dream Unlike Any Other

Jack found himself surrounded by nothing. All around him was sheer blackness. Jack could see himself, but he couldn't see anyone or anything else around him.

Jack was confused. This was the first time he had had a dreamless sleep since becoming a Guardian. He had expected to see Sandy. He could even have worked with having a regular nonsensical dream. Now it seemed even his dreams had abandoned him.

Sadness engulfed Jack. There was nobody he could reach out to, nobody he knew. He was separated from his own time. Jack hadn't felt this alone since the early years of his time as Jack Frost. The weight of his situation came crashing down on him. He sat down, tears streaming his eyes. He lifted his head up, yelling loudly, venting all his frustration and sadness into this barren dream. He then lowered his head into his knees, crying. He was completely alone in the darkness.

As Jack lay there, he noticed something peculiar. The darkness seemed to be receding, and everything around him getting brighter. He looked up to see something coming towards him. Something whisking and whirring down towards him, passing through darkness with ease.

As the thing got closer, Jack saw that it was a ray of light. It clearly had a bright light and warmth to it. As it got closer, Jack realized that it was a moonbeam, sent by the Man in the Moon. Usually, moonbeams relayed messages or fought fearlings. This one had obviously come to deliver a message to him.

Jack wiped his eyes and stood up. The moonbeam came a few inches closer to him and stopped.

"Hey there," said Jack. "Are you here to see me?"

The moonbeam moved quickly up and down. A nod.

"Did the Man in the Moon send you?"

The moonbeam nodded again.

"Excellent. Do you have a message for me?"

The moonbeam nodded, then moved a little closer to Jack.

Jack could tell the moonbeam needed to go inside him to relay the message. "Ok sparky, fire away."

The moonbeam flew into Jack. If Jack had expected an immediate reaction, he was sorely disappointed. Nothing really seemed to change. He still felt down, but a little hopeful. No obvious message came into his mind.

Jack sat down. Had he misunderstood the moonbeam? Was it only here to be a presence in his dream. Well, he would take the company, regardless of if there was a message or not.

As Jack had that thought, he started to feel different. His feelings started to change, from feeling down and out to feeling cheerful again. The presence inside him seemed to be giving him strength and hope. As Jack dwelt on this feeling, a thought came into his head: Do not fear. For I have overcome the world.

Jack couldn't tell where exactly the thought came from, but he had a feeling it had come directly from the Man in the Moon. More thoughts came into Jack: "Do not be afraid, Jack.Everything will be all right. The other Guardians will find you and you'll be able to return home."

Jack nodded. He couldn't really say anything, standing in the power of the presence of the Man in the Moon. The Man in the Moon continued: "Stay in Arendelle for a few days. You will know what to do when the time comes. Be yourself around others. Follow your heart and my presence within you to find what you need. Everything will work out for good, even if you don't see it now. Trust in me and don't be afraid."

Jack nodded again. He now knew that he wasn't alone in this place, that he had someone who cared for him standing beside him in his trials. No matter what came against him, the presence would be with him and never leave him.

Jack then closed his eyes, dwelling on the sense of peace. When he woke up, he found himself back in his room in Arendelle. Jack still felt the presence inside him. It wasn't as strong as it had been in the dream, but Jack knew that that didn't change the presence's strength. The Man in the Moon would be with him and help him. And that comforting news strengthened Jack. He was ready to explore, meet these new people, and follow the Man in the Moon's plan. Look out world, here comes Jack Frost.

Now Jack's got his confidence back. That's great. I hope you all enjoyed the word of encouragement in here. As always, please rate and review.
