Seven days. A lot can happen in that span. Yet, when so many parts are in motion, keeping track of it all can be hard. For your reading pleasure, here is a perfectly transcribed account of all that occurred. Enjoy.
Day 1
The Happy Hotel had never been so lively. Lucifer, Lilith, and Charlie stood together as a family. With Katie Killjoy as the hotel's official PR correspondent, she arranged an exclusive interview for what would soon be her former place of employment. All of Hell, no matter where you looked, was left speechless by what was stated.
"People of Hell. Be you Hellspawn or Sinners. We invite all of you to our realm's capital, Pentagram City. One week from today, a ceremony will be conducted. The importance of this event cannot be appropriately conveyed. Even if we were to take hours of your time, we'd barely cover half of what we must express. Everyone, regardless of status and station, is welcome. Vacancies for all at the Happy Hotel. Every second, we expand to accommodate more residents. Even now, we have a surplus of rooms available. We expect to see most of Hell's population here in one week. For those who cannot come, keep your radios and televisions on. During the next seven days, we will broadcast from the hotel and provide as much information as possible to prepare you for what is to come. Thank you for your time. We'll see you soon."
The remaining leaders of the Rings were the first to arrive at the Happy Hotel. They knew something big was going on from Lucifer's letters, but they could've never anticipated something like this! Upon arrival, they were escorted to Urdak to meet with Khan. The result of this requires no further explanation.
Following the Rings' leaders was a ceaseless flow of people from every part of Hell. The Happy Hotel would've been overwhelmed and understaffed had this happened a few weeks ago. Fortunately, they received aid from the previously mentioned leaders of Hell. They summoned their staff and commanded that they heed ALL orders and instructions issued by Charlie. If they dared to pry, drag their feet, or cause any issues, they'd be given the worst thrashing of their lives.
Television crews, newspaper outlets, magazine reporters, Etc. Every possible entity associated with information attempted to get ANYTHING out of ANYONE regarding the Magnes' address and the chaos it was causing. Similarly to before, the Rings' leaders assisted in controlling these unruly masses. If ANY of them tried to enter the hotel or harass its notable staff, the streets would be stained a new color.
However, this situation was not exclusive to Hell. Gabriel informed all of Heaven's people that this ceremony also concerned them. Azrael, Michael, and the rest of their Heavenly kin supported their Brother, confirming that he spoke only the truth and did not exaggerate. Although unrest ensued, it was arguably better and easier to handle for them than it was for the others in Hell. This didn't surprise anyone since, you know, it was Hell.
Of course, the Goetias also contributed. In addition to sending their staff to the Happy Hotel, Paimon, Stella, and Octavia moved in just as the Magnes did. It made no sense to frequent between their estates and what was their official headquarters, after all. Especially not with how much Pentagram City had become a frenzy.
Every other place of temporary residency was filling to the brim. Hotels. Motels. B&Bs. When those were at max capacity, the people got creative. They started renting available apartments or empty office spaces within buildings. They'd erect tents in the streets and gather as many RVs and mobile homes as possible. Rooftops would mirror the streets as more tents and sleeping bags covered every viewable inch. Formerly abandoned structures and city sections would be filled with new life. Truly, NO ONE was going to be left out of this.
Apart from the obvious reaction from Nobles and Overlords, the countless celebrities of Hell also flocked to Pentagram City. Shockingly, one celebrity and her entourage managed to gain residency at the Happy Hotel. The only reason this was accomplished was because of her bodyguard. Vortex, a Hellhound, was the beloved boyfriend of Queen Beelzebub. After some convincing, he got his employer, Verosika Mayday, and her Succubis and Incubis into the hotel alongside himself. But they were among the FEW exceptions. The only others were those important to the Rings' rulers and the Goetias. A perfect example was Stella's brother, Andrealphus.
Regarding Khan and the Maykrs, they stayed in Urdak and continued Khan's treatments. Samur, believing he could contribute more, returned to the Ivory Tower. Samuel and Olivia (who'd been caught up to speed) stayed at the Mars complex. In addition to their work, they'd monitor Samuel's Earth. Vega dedicated all of day one to repairing as much of Urdak as possible. Their means of production, of course, took priority.
Doomguy and the Marine. This duo had to stay out of sight just as much as Khan and the Maykrs did. They couldn't risk accidental exposure before the ceremony. They alternated between Urdak and the Mars complex, offering assistance in whatever ways they could.
The Wretch. As promised by Charlie, he was given a room in the Happy Hotel. Even better, he was on the same floor as the Magnes' and the Rings' leaders to ensure he wouldn't be discovered or disturbed. This also allowed Beelzebub, Fizzarolli, and Asmodeus to keep him company. To the Demon's surprise, a budding friendship was forming between him and this trio. What wasn't surprising was his endless gratitude for their compassion and companionship.
Day 2
Mostly, there was nothing new to report for the second day. The hotel's hecticness remained relatively the same. The Magnes and the Rings' rulers got to work regaining control over the masses. However, it was here when the Goetias finally realized something.
Stolas. Where had he gone? He wasn't at any of their estates. Furthermore, he couldn't have left Hell. The Grimoire was still in the library, and he'd been missing ever since Paimon confronted him. Unfortunately, given all that was happening, they couldn't spare time searching for the missing Goetia. Plus, if he wanted to be here, he would've. At least, that was his family's perception on the matter.
Vega had done so much in a day to improve Urdak's situation. Sure, it was still a LONG way from getting CLOSE to its former glory. Yet, with their factories and other essential structures back online, Khan and the Maykrs could FINALLY do more. Their first contribution would be the Wretch's new body. Sadly, as Khan assumed, Samur refrained from having any part of it. He remained in the Ivory Tower, helping, of course. But he'd have NOTHING to do with ANYTHING involving the Wretch. By now, his Mother worried that not even time would fix this problem.
Regarding Khan specifically, she was nearly back to her old self. The continued treatments of Argent and their continuously increased dosages accelerated her recovery. By tomorrow, she'd be able to assist Samuel with the issue of his reality. He'd given Khan her life back; that was the MINIMUM she could do in return. Be mindful; those were HER words. Samuel would never be so demanding with anyone. Never again.
Returning the attention to Vega, he redirected his efforts back to the new facilities in Hell now that Khan and the Maykrs could be self-sufficient. By the end of today, Samuel and Olivia could move here and assist him once the situation with Earth was resolved. Also, speaking of Argent for a moment, as they promised, there were no issues with its continued production. Furthermore, Samuel re-activated the Argent Tower. At last, the lights were back on in his universe. Hopefully, that would create enough doubt and confusion regarding his "betrayal" of humanity until tomorrow. Even if it didn't, there'd be no way for more soldiers to arrive before then.
Andrealphus, Vortex, Verosika, and her flock of horny Hellspawn were taken to see Khan. Andrealphus made sense; he was Stella's Brother and was assisting at the hotel. He deserved to know WHY the Goetias suddenly moved in there and HOW they were so involved with this. One soul link with Khan later (which is how the Rings' leaders were so quickly caught up to speed), and Andrealphus was no longer lacking in information. If anything, the poor man now had too much of it.
Vortex also made sense. He wasn't just a booty call or flirtatious sex toy to Beelzebub. Although not married, they'd been getting to that level of intimacy and trust as their relationship progressed. Khan had no issues with the Queen of Gluttony wanting to bring him into the "inner circle". The same was said about Verosika and her groupies, but Khan was also understandably confused about why they'd be included. Beelzebub, in one statement, stressed that IF they didn't, Verosika was going to annoy the ever-loving shit out of Vortex until he couldn't take it anymore. Being the considerate girlfriend she was, she couldn't subject her "bae" to that. The only thing left for Khan to ponder afterward was what "bae" meant.
However, with Vortex now in the know, he was introduced to the Wretch. Through Khan's memories, he'd already seen what the Demon looked like. Still, meeting him in person was a different experience. While not to the same degree as his empathic girlfriend, the Hellhound still showed great concern and distress for the Wretch. From there, Beelzebub and the Wretch shared the Demon's past with Vortex, Fizzarolli, and Asmodeus. The rest of the day was spent consoling the poor man and getting to know him better. Which, again, he was immensely grateful for.
Doomguy and the Marine. The list of things they could help with had already diminished to the point where they were standing around most of the time. So, they decided to keep each other sharp. The duo sparred using a fairly open and empty space within the Mars complex. They'd settle down and head to the foundry when night drew near. Their time spent here would be used to improve their equipment and bounce ideas between one another.
Day 3
Just when no one thought the hotel could get livelier, Gabriel, Azrael, and Michael appeared to lend their able and willing hands. Their Brothers and Sisters in Heaven could handle fine without them for the rest of the week. Gabriel stuck close to the Magnes, Michael went with Charlie and Vagatha, and Azrael hunkered down at the front desk with Husk. Regarding the latter two, they acted as if nothing happened because nothing DID happen. Two friends who needed to unwind got drunk and passed out next to each other. THAT. WAS. IT. Alastor was SO goddamn lucky that he couldn't tease Husk about it because the Hellcat would've ripped that stupid fucking grin off of his face.
Speaking of the Radio Demon, he and Katie Killjoy have been in full swing since day one. As Katie had brought to everyone's attention in Urdak, the people needed to be kept in the loop even IF they were kept out of it until the ceremony. Throughout each day, the others would contribute their voices to soothe the viewers and listeners tuning in. Mainly, it was the Magnes (Charlie included) and the Rings' leaders. Gabriel, Michael, and Azrael would begin to help in this way today and onward. Additionally, these broadcasts were received in Heaven, ensuring NO ONE wasn't hearing or seeing them.
Khan was herself again. There were no words to describe the joy she and her children felt. Instead, her first expression of appreciation was revealing herself to the people of Samuel's reality. This is where she'd be, sorting things out for today and tomorrow. Admittedly, the Creator had some fun now that she was back to her old self. She deliberately opened a portal before the U.N. building, appeared in ALL her grandness, and then politely requested to speak to the world's leaders. Samuel, who had accompanied her, experienced the greatest struggle of his life not long after. The shocked and bewildered faces of the world's leaders when they each arrived, nearly caused him to devolve into an uproarious fit of laughter. Even a genius such as himself wasn't beyond the age-old satisfaction of "I told you so". Khan, who saw his impressive restraint, was delighted to see him so happy.
Although she wanted to be there for Samuel, Olivia knew she could do more elsewhere. However, Samuel DID promise to record the whole thing so she could see what she missed later when they discussed it. Until then, the Sinner assisted Vega with the new facilities. Construction still went on, but a good few buildings were finished. She'd get things up and running as he focused on the work and setting up the facilities' systems.
The Maykrs were ready to conduct the Wretch's resurrection. They had produced all the materials they'd need. To the amazement of Beelzebub, Fizzarolli, Asmodeus, and Vortex, the Wretch invited them to be there. Upon arrival, everyone conversed on what the Wretch should look like. They, with his input, wondered what the best direction was. Initially, they all favored him having an entirely new look. However, as the Wretch thought about it more, he wanted to be restored to his original self. His reasoning? He wanted his master, Doom itself, to stare into the burning eyes of his former creation in the moment of its defeat. The others, including the Maykrs, rallied behind this idea. The consensus was: "YEAH! FUCK HIM!" Of course, it was mainly the Hellspawn in the room who excitedly chanted that.
Yet, when the resurrection was conducted and concluded, the Wretch and his companions were met with two surprises courtesy of the Maykrs. First, the one they could see. The Wretch's appearance had been slightly altered to match the aesthetic and designs of the Maykr race. His jagged edges were smoothed. His skin, while still natural armor, was far softer and less obvious as such. Additionally, it had that beautiful metallic sheen despite not being artificial. From head to toe, he was colored in a combination of white and red. His claws and horns, once black like obsidian, were now pristinely white.
But then, there was the second surprise. From the perspective of Beelzebub, Asmodeus, Fizzarolli, and Vortex, they could only see it in the Wretch's eyes. As for the Demon himself, he FELT what it was. The Wretch's eyes, which had originally been blue, were now gold. If they could see his soul, they'd find the same coloration. This...was Divine energy. Yet, it didn't hurt him anymore. When he turned to the Maykrs for an explanation, this is what they said:
"It was Mother's idea. A soul cannot be destroyed, but it can be altered. Energies, even those with it since the beginning, can be replaced if the soul is receptive. Your efforts had long since purified the Corruption in your soul. The pain you felt from the Divine power was real. However, it was only from your tainted flesh. If any doubts remain that you are unholy, they are dispelled. Within you is not just Divine energy but the Khan's essence. She bestowed a piece of her soul to us to give to you. You are a Demon no longer. You are a Maykr."
With a heavy landing, the Wretch fell to his knees. Beelzebub, Asmodeus, Fizzarolli, and Vortex ran to his side. He stared down at himself and his open palms. He studied everything that had been done to him. This felt like a dream. A fantasy. But no, it was real. Unable to hold back his emotions, the Wretch doubled over in a long overdue sob. The others and the Maykrs, who joined them at his side, comforted the weeping former Hellspawn. Among newfound friends and family, the Wretch cried in unbridled joy.
Doomguy and the Marine continued to assault each other with reckless abandon. It had gotten even more intense somehow. If they kept this up at this pace, they'd break through the Mars complex and fight on the Martian surface. Although, truthfully, that would only add to their enjoyment. The single most violent and psychotic people in all of Creation had found each other. The only thing that could make them happier was if they were fighting Demons. Actual lunatics. UNHINGED.
Day 4
At last, the hotel was getting settled. All guests and residents were properly accommodated. The moat of journalists and reporters outside the building had accepted that they wouldn't get any interviews or exclusives. However, they remained where they were on the premises. The MOMENT something changed, they'd be the first to pounce.
The rest of the population was also finally calming down. Those in Pentagram City had found their spots and had no intention of leaving them. Those NOT in the city gathered with their friends and family in one location. No matter who or where you were, you were waiting for the week to be over. Each passing minute added to the ceremony's anticipation.
On that note, Katie and Alastor were forming a comfortable norm. While still despising one another, they figured out the best way to move around their shared studio without EVER getting near each other. Amazingly, this did improve their ability to fulfill their duties, which was important. As of today, the duo would start informing the public what their expectations should be for the ceremony. Specifically, they began "hyping" the crowds for the appearance of multiple persons neither Heaven nor Hell had ever seen. They also eluded to a revelation that would shock the soul without comparison. Credit where it's due, they were damn good at their jobs. Likely, they were the best in their respective fields.
The others were starting to fall back into their normal routines. Not entirely, mind you. With the hotel so full, everyone needed to be ready to do something immediately. Still, they could gather in the lobby for conversations and much-needed breaks. It also helped to build bonds further and create a sense of community within their tight-knit group.
The whereabouts of Stolas remained a mystery. Cold as it may sound, the Goetias didn't care anymore. Why wasn't he here? What the fuck was he doing? His family, honestly tired of his shit, stopped caring. Why stress themselves over someone who, as always, skirted on his responsibilities and duties? He wasn't worth it.
Samuel and Khan were still in his reality. Before rejoining the others, they wanted to ensure everything was STRAIGHT. No more confusion. No more doubts. No more problems. Furthermore, if they needed anything, they'd speak to Khan from now on. This was her suggestion. She didn't want Samuel to feel burdened by all his people constantly nagging him, and she knew they wouldn't DARE attempt that with her. When the duo eventually departed, he thanked her for this kindness.
The Wretch...was going through an interesting experience. The moment it was daybreak in Hell, he was awoken by his newly acquired social circle. For the remainder of the week, they would do all they could to prepare the Wretch for his public unveiling. First order of business? Wardrobe. The man had NOTHING. Beelzebub and Asmodeus would NOT allow ANY friend of theirs to experience one of the biggest moments of his life in anything less than the peak of style. The Wretch tried to protest, saying it was unnecessary. That's when Fizzarolli and Vortex, shaking their heads, put their hands on his shoulders and assured him he could do nothing. If he didn't willingly try the outfits they picked for him, then they'd forcibly dress him. It was here that the Wretch learned a valuable lesson about friendship. Sometimes, it was a hostage situation.
Olivia and Vega had to intervene. The combat junkies needed to be stopped. With the new facilities finally finished, they could be kept busy. As the armored duo traveled to Hell, the Sinner and the AI were baffled by how much damage they could do when left alone. Yet, it was through this two-day-long contest of carnage that Doomguy and the Marine had become brothers. Two inseparable maniacs. How...touching.
Day 5
The final preparations were underway. The aforementioned news-related persons outside the hotel were pushed to a much greater distance from the building. The reason for this was to provide the necessary space for construction. Every on-looker was left in awe as a sky-covering fleet of drones appeared from the top of the hotel. Out of public view, a portal had been opened by Vega on the rooftop so he could send his drones through. They would begin building seats, stands, bleachers, and MUCH more. The ceremony would be conducted in front of the building rather than inside it. As such, another necessity was a stage, the size of which grabbed the spectators' attention. Sure, stages were normally large, but this was notably sizable. However, no clarity would be given about its purpose, leaving the populace to their imaginations.
Everyone else within the hotel was also busy. Ignoring their usual responsibilities amidst this period, they readied themselves for the big day. Outfits were being selected. Menus and beverages were being worked out. A general procedure of events was being developed, which would need to be run by Khan. Honestly? They were getting excited, more so than they already were.
With the perfect attire decided yesterday, the Wretch would be given lessons by Fizarolli on how to handle being in front of a crowd today. Admittedly, Beelzebub and Asmodeus could offer input, but the Imp was a PROFESSIONAL performer. In this area, he was an undisputed expert. However, with that established, Beelzebub, Asmodeus, and Vortex would regularly find themselves interjecting whenever Fizzarolli tried to be "fantastical" with his instructions. It was almost as if he was trying to recruit the Wretch as a partner in his performances.
Samuel, with the issues of his reality dealt with, resumed working alongside Olivia and Vega. With Khan back in Urdak with her children, they'd converse via holographic projections, allowing them to move around in both spaces to feel better connected. Their time was spent discussing the future, further exploring their plans, and addressing another idea Khan conceived. With the Wretch's resurrection going so smoothly, she proposed that Samuel should also receive a new body. Surprisingly, it was Olivia and Vega who responded first to this. They passionately (as much as Vega could for now) expressed that they wanted Samuel to regain the life that cancer had stolen from him. However, Samuel had no issues with his mechanical version. If anything, he preferred it. Then, the Maykrs joined the conversation with a slightly different proposal. The Maykr race had always strived for a perfect synergy between organic and mechanical existence. What if they could create a body for Samuel that, while still giving him what he desired, could also provide a more conventional alternative to make relaxing and interacting with others much easier? Samuel, fascinated by the prospect, approved the research. Of course, it'd wait until their current priority was handled.
Doomguy and the Marine found a shared interest neither suspected the other would have. They loved video games. They discovered this via an arcade machine that they found. With Olivia and Vega preventing them from fighting each other due to the concern of collateral damage and so little work left to do, they started exploring the new facilities. At some point, either Olivia or Vega transported the greatest form of digital entertainment ever conceived by mortal minds from the Mars complex to here. Super Turbo Turkey Puncher 3. It cannot be stressed enough that if anyone saw these two playing this game, of ALL things, with the level of intense focus and interest that were, they'd feel an indescribable fear.
Day 6
Vega's efforts outside the hotel were beyond impressive. In short, he essentially made a small, maybe even medium-sized stadium. Seating was no longer an issue. Vendor stalls had been created to make offering food and beverages easier for the staff. The stage had been properly decorated, as were the general surroundings. Of course, Charlie requested to give Vega guidance on that front.
Speaking of everyone, they were as ready for tomorrow as possible. Much like the Wretch, their outfits were chosen, and their plans were made. The Magnes handled specific details such as music and various related matters. Yet, the others were still encouraged to offer their input so they could ensure the ceremony was as perfect as anyone could hope for.
Thankfully for the Wretch, there was no more prep work to be done. Well, that's not true. If Beelzebub and Asmodeus wanted to, they could've devised something to fixate on for today. But they, alongside Fizzarolli and Vortex, decided to relax and unwind with the Wretch before shit got crazy. Genuinely, all they did for the day was gather in the Wretch's room and watch movies. That may sound remarkably simple, but that's what they wanted. Not only was it quality time as a group, but it was the first real taste of a normal life for the Demon. Something that his companions hoped would become standard for him.
Olivia, Vega, Khan, the Maykrs, and Samuel spent today preparing themselves. Olivia was the only one who fretted over her clothing. Samuel told her she looked fine, as she always did, successfully flattering her. However, she insisted that she'd like something special for such a monumental moment. So, Khan and the Maykrs whisked her away to Urdak. Who better to craft the perfect ensemble than the Creator herself? Yet, when the day was done, neither Samuel nor Vega could see it. Olivia wanted to surprise them as she would the others.
Samur, during most of this week, kept busy with machinations and new researches that he felt would help them. He informed his Mother of this when he was certain they could converse privately. When they were finished, Khan wanted to talk to him about their last interaction. Yet, she held her tongue for now. There was already so much happening and even more that would after tomorrow. Besides, allowing Samur his space could be what he needed. A nice, simple breather.
Doomguy and the Marine spent the last day before the festivities preparing. Weapons were checked. Ammunition was stockpiled. Any other advantageous items and gear were obtained and well supplied in their suits' inventories. They wanted to believe that it was all unnecessary. Nothing would happen tomorrow beyond what was expected. Sadly, their pasts prevented them from being so relaxed. They always needed to be ready for anything. Even if they didn't know what it would be.
Day 7
Here it was. The day everyone everywhere was waiting for. The ascent of Hell's sun acted as a countdown. All would be in motion once it was fully free from the horizon...
