"Power Ring de Loop"

At the Lake of Rings, the Freedom Fighters are gathered, when Uncle Chuck emerges from the lake. Bunnie uses her roboticized hand to help Uncle Chuck onto shore.

"Thank you, Bunnie," Uncle Chuck turns to Sonic and Sally. "The new Power Ring Generator is at the bottom of the lake and activated."

"You can say that again, look," Tail points at the lake, with the surface bubbling.

"It's already generating a Power Ring?" Uncle Chuck asks.

A Power Ring starts to float from the lake, with the ring glowing slightly.

Sonic reaches out and grabs the Power Ring, before holding it up, "First ring, successful, unc."

Suddenly, the Power Ring glows brightly, surrounding Sonic with energy, before he speeds away.

"Sonic!" Sally calls out.

Sonic speeds throughout Knothole Village, barely missing people as he passes.

"Sorry, sorry, I can't control myself!" Sonic continues to speed nonstop, before he looks ahead. "Oh boy."

Sonic speeds through Antoine's hut, borrowing holes on either side of the hut.

Sonic shakes his head, as he continues to speed, "I really hope Antoine won't become my roommate again." Sonic reaches the far end of Knothole Village, before he starts to speed in a large curve. "Better head back to the lake."

Uncle Chuck holds a pen-like device to a small earpiece, slightly shooting it with electricity, "Okay, this new communicator should allow us to talk with Sonic as well as allow me to analyze him." He turns to Sally. "Now how can we get it on him at his high speed?"

"I got it covered," Tails takes the earpiece from Uncle Chuck, before flying off.

"Tails, wait," Sally says.

Tails flies ahead to see Sonic speeding toward them.

"Here goes nothing," Tails waves his hands.

Sonic, still speeding, looks up to see Tails, midair, slowly waving his hands, "Tails is trying to tell me something?"

"Sonic, catch!" Tails starts to throw the earpiece.

Speeding, Sonic sees the earpiece slowly flying through the air, "Ah, I see."

Sonic speeds up the side of a tree, jumps off it, grabs the earpiece in midair, and then lands, immediately continuing to speed.

Sonic, still speeding, looks at the earpiece in his hand, before placing it in his ear, "I really hope I won't hear Ant snoring through this."

"Sonic, do you read me?" Uncle Chuck asks, through the earpiece.

"Like a chili dog cookbook, unc," Sonic says, still speeding. "I had no idea what's going on. That Power Ring just activated on its own."

Sonic speeds past the group at the lake, with Uncle Chuck has a hand to his head and Sally holds out NICOLE.

"I know, son," Uncle Chuck starts. "NICOLE and I are gonna try and figure out what went wrong."

Tails lands next to them, as Sally turns to him.

"Tails, you did good," Sally says, with Tails smiling. "But you were also reckless."

Tails crosses his arms, "I can handle myself."

"I've detected odd energy signals coming off from Sonic," NICOLE says, with Sally turning back to her palm computer.

"Could Sonic have absorbed it from the Power Ring?" Sally asks.

"All likelihood," NICOLE responds.

"Then there was an error in the construction of the new Power Ring Generator," Uncle Chuck wonders. "Or the result of the Power Rock half used so much power for Lower Mobius' Energy Crystal, or could that the Power Rock had simply reached the end of its shelf life…?"

"Sir Charles, where did the Power Rock come from in the first place?" Sally asks.

"That was a long time ago…" Uncle Chuck turns to her.

"Shortly before the Great War, to be precise…"

The King and Uncle Chuck, as a normal Mobian, are walking across a mountain trail, when the King notices something.

"I was walking with the King, discussing recent matters, when we came across the Power Rock."

The King approaches the Power Rock lying on the ground. He starts to reach for it, when Uncle Chuck places a hand on his shoulder, stopping him.

"The King was interested in it, but he allowed me to study it."

The King nods his head, before Uncle Chuck turns to the Power Rock.

In a lab, the Power Rock is on a table, with wires connected to it, as Uncle Chuck is looking at a computer monitor.

"While studying it, I learned the Power Rock possesses strong energies."

A young Sonic speeds into the lab, waving at Uncle Chuck, who happily waves back, before Sonic speeds through the lab.

"In time, I was inspired to use it to power a device that could boost someone's natural speed."

Uncle Chuck presses a key, with a grid diagram of a Power Ring appearing on the monitor.

"Inspired, in fact, by my nephew."

Sonic is speeding, with the communicator still in his ear, "I do remember you working on something all the time when I was younger.

With the Power Ring Generator on a table behind him, Uncle Chuck holds up a Power Ring, studying it.

"Unfortunately, I discovered the device could only boost already increased speed."

Uncle Chuck lowers the Power Ring, sighing.

"Meaning Sonic is the only known person who could use it."

Uncle Chuck drops the Power Ring Generator into a lake.

"When the war started, I hid it at the bottom of a lake to keep it safe."

"That's the Lake of Rings," Rotor says to his friends.

"I still remember when Sonic and I discovered the Lake of Rings," Sally says.

"You remembered, Sally-girl," Bunnie says. "I know it's a day I will never forget."

Sonic and Sally are walking through a forest, "None of us will forget, Bunnie. It was a year or so ago. Sonic and I were exploring the Great Forest…"

Sonic speeds up to a lake, with Sally running to catch up, as the lake's surface was bubbling, "When we discovered what we will call the Lake of Rings."

A Power Ring rises up out of the lake, floating in the air, before Sonic reaches out and grabs it, almost losing his balance, before stepping back.

"We had no idea what to make of it, when…"

"Help! Help!"

Sonic and Sally look in the direction of the scream and run back from where they came from. After a little bit, they see a SWAT-bot next to a platform on wheels, while another SWAT-bot is holding up a normal Bunnie, "Help!"

"I can still remember those SWAT-bots snatched me while I was also exploring and tried to use me to test some new portable roboticizer."

The second SWAT-bot places Bunnie on the platform, while the first SWAT-bot presses a button, with a force field appearing around her, then places another button. Bunnie becomes surrounded with energy, with tears in her eyes.

The Power Ring starts to glow, "I was trying to find a way to free you, when all of a sudden, the Power Ring activates."

Sonic glows, before he speeds ahead, to Sally's shock, and slams against the second SWAT-bot, knocking it back. A small cannon pops out of the first SWAT-bot's arm, before it aims it. Sonic then speed dashes around the SWAT-bot and speeds away, with the SWAT-bot then falling apart in pieces.

Sally runs over to the platform, presses the two buttons on it. Then Bunnie, with her legs and left arm roboticized, falls out of the platform and onto her knees. Sally places a hand on Bunnie's shoulder, before Bunnie notices herself and then starts to cry in her hands, with Sonic speeds up to them.

Bunnie wipes a tear from her eyes, with Sally places a hand on her shoulder, "If it wasn't for that Power Ring, we might not have been able to save you." Sally looks ahead. "In fact, Power Rings have saved us a lot of time."

Uncle Chuck smiles.

"It's been super fun going down memory lane million miles a minute," Sonic says, through the communicator. "But how can I stop running? The Power Ring is already spent, its power should've disappeared by now."

"I… I honestly don't know," Uncle Chuck admits.

"Well, since I am stuck at 'really supersonic speed', how about I take advantage of it and pay ol' Nut-gus a visit?" Sonic suggests.

"That would be a terrible idea," NICOLE says, with Sally looking at her. "The energy Sonic absorbed from the Power Ring is giving off a traceable energy signal. If Naugus or Snively become aware of it, either could easily track it back to Knothole Village."

Sally sighs, "And we need to avoid another visit from Naugus."

"Okay, I'll keep my distance from Robotropolis, and Knothole while I'm at it," Sonic says, continuing to speed. "But, and this sounds super weird coming from me, but I'm running too much and too fast." He looks ahead. "Yeah, super weird."

"I don't believe this," Uncle Chuck sits down on a stump. "This is just like the roboticizer. Just another invention of mine that is hurting the people closest to me."

"Unc, it isn't your fault that Ro-butt-nik used your roboticizer for evil," Sonic says, through the communicator. "Or that the Power Rock turned out to be so kooky."

"Sonic's right," Rotor says.

"Definitively," Tails says.

"Oui," Antoine adds. "Talk about super weird."

"And remember what Sally said, the Power Rings had saved us all," Bunnie says.

"And you'll find a way to fix this, Sir Charles," Sally tells him. "I'm sure of it."

"I wish I had your faith," Uncle Chuck says.

"Listen to her, you're a genius," Rotor says. "Heck, I tried but I could never understand the Power Ring Generator."

"Really?" Tails asks.

"Yeah, for the life of me, I could never figure out where the excess energy goes," Rotor explains.

"Excess energy? That could be it!" Uncle Chuck suddenly stands up, with Antoine falling back. "Sonic, you might be able to express the energy you absorbed by using your increased speed in one small area. Very small. But it's gonna have to be isolated."

"On it, unc," Sonic says.

Sonic speeds to a canyon, before he starts to speed around in a small circle, creating a cyclone surging with energy.

"I think it's working," Sonic says, through his communicator.

"Listen, son," Uncle Chuck walks ahead, with a hand to the side of his head. "You're gonna have to move fast when the energy is released. Or else you could get caught and seriously injured."

Sally and Tails look concerned.

"Understood."

Sonic continues to speed in a small circle, "Gotta go fast."

The small cyclone continues to surge with energy, when suddenly the energy explodes outward, blowing away the cyclone.

"Sonic, can you hear me?" Uncle Chuck asks, with a hand to the side of his head. "Sonic?! Sonic!"

"No…" Sally says, before going into Bunnie's arms, who hugs her sadly.

Tails falls to his knees, Rotor looks to the side with tears in his eyes, Antoine raises his head with a hand over his chest.

"Sonic…" Uncle Chuck lowers his hand.

"What with all the low faces?"

The group turns to see Sonic standing next to a tree, with a hand on it.

"Sonic?!" Sally calls out, before running up to Sonic and hugs him.

"Sonic, we thought you were…" Tails runs up to Sonic.

"Hey, I'm tougher than that, you know it," Sonic rubs the top of Tails' head. "Though, I guess I wasn't fast enough for a change." He pulls the communicator out of his ear. "Your communicator was damaged in the blast."

"All that matters is you okay, sugar-hog," Bunnie says.

Sonic smiles, with Sally kissing him on the cheek.

"Though I think it's time we just dismissed the Power Ring Generator for good," Uncle Chuck says.

At that moment, Dulcy comes crashing down, several feet away.

Dulcy looks up at everyone, "Hey, what did I miss?"

Everyone else just looks at each other and starts to laugh.

"Oh, yeah, what happened to Antoine's hut?" Dulcy asks, as Sonic looks panicked. "There's two large holes in it."

"Mon hut?!" Antoine yells.

Sonic slaps a hand on his forehead.
