First period (A1)
The teacher was taking attendance when Poseidon and Artemis entered the classroom.
"You must be Adrian and Luna Lyre. Please take a seat in the two empty desks in the back." Miss. Price instructed, she's a fairly young teacher possibly in her late twenties.
The pair made their way to the back where two empty desks sat. They felt awkward as the students stared at them, one particular stare made Poseidon's heart stop.
In the middle of the class sat Percy staring at him with a slight squint. Poseidon didn't know if he recognized them, but the other students saw the similarities between them as some students nudged Percy to ask about it.
Artemis avoided eye contact with Percy too, when she first met Percy she took the form of a twelve-year-old girl. Knowing his father, she's hopeful that Percy wouldn't recognize her in her sixteen-year-old form.
The two sat down as the teacher cleared her throat. The other students directed their gaze to Miss Price as she projected this week's Latin vocabulary words.
Poseidon and Artemis glanced at each other, they were fluent in the language, they basically created it. This should be an easy A class.
...
Zeus and Athena had statistics class together, they awkwardly took their seats as the other students stared. Zeus didn't know how to act like a teenager, much less a mortal one.
The teacher fared them a good morning as she walked through the door. She looked to be in her forties and she introduced herself as Mrs. Smith.
Zeus casually leaned back and put his feet on the desk while Athena got out some notebooks.
"Skyler we do not put our feet on the table. I suggest you put them down or I'll write you a detention."
Zeus didn't know what a detention was, but put his feet down at the tone in her voice. The teacher was a strict one and he didn't need to have any more repercussions.
Athena rolled her eyes at him, before copying whatever the teacher wrote in her notebook. Zeus took a glance around the room, he didn't know what he was expecting but he didn't see any familiar faces besides Athena in the class.
Zeus felt a little embarrassed as he didn't understand what the teacher was teaching. He's the king of the gods and he couldn't understand mortal math. He grimaced and started to take notes as he knew he's going to have to study it in his own time.
Second Period (A2)
The brothers Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades met up together in the gymnasium for their physical education class.
"Isn't Mr. Hedge a satyr?" Hades whispered to his two brothers.
The brothers nodded, and Zeus's whispered back, "He's probably scouting for demigods."
Poseidon wrinkled his brow, "Aren't we demigods? I mean obviously we're gods but do we smell like demigods in our mortal forms?"
Hades shrugged, honestly he didn't know. His heightened smell diminished along with his other godly powers. He didn't have the ability to sense the smell of demigods anymore.
Zeus nudged Poseidon, "It looks like your son is in this class."
Percy was talking to the teacher in hushed tones in the back right corner of the room. The brothers couldn't pick up what they were saying, but they had inklings it was about them.
"He was in my last class as well."
"Do you think he knows?" Hades asked.
Poseidon shook his head, "I'm not sure."
"Alright cupcakes! This is how we're going to do this; Line up against the back wall and when I call your name, step forward." The coach instructed after he finished talking with Percy.
The students which were all boys lined against the wall.
The coach looked down at his clipboard. "Timmy Amit"
A shy kid stepped forward with shaky legs.
"Good. Do twenty pushups."
"Yes sir." The kid got down and did about five before collapsing.
The coach rolled his eyes and muttered cupcake underneath his breath before continuing onto the next person.
"Gregory Anders"
The coach went on through the lists of names until he stopped at a particular name, "Why do I have three students with the same last name?"
Hades cleared his throat, "We're triplets sir."
The coach looked up from his clipboard to study the three brothers. They became uncomfortable as they didn't know if the satyr could smell them or not.
"Is that so?"
The three of them paled but try to keep their emotions in check as satyrs can read them.
"Adrian Lyre."
Poseidon stepped forward and did twenty pushups the coach assigned with ease.
"Duncan Lyre."
Hades did the same thing and was a little faster than Poseidon.
"Skylar Lyre."
Zeus didn't do the pushups at first until Poseidon kicked the back of his legs, forcing him down. Zeus complied with gritted teeth as he did the pushups, it was ridiculous for him to take orders from a satyr.
After all of the names were called and their warm ups were complete, the coach made them run laps through the rest of the period.
...
Artemis and her twin Apollo entered their trigonometry class and took the only two empty seats, which happened to be by Annabeth.
Annabeth's looked quizzically at Artemis before asking, "I'm sorry, but you look familiar. Have I met you before."
Artemis shook her head, "I don't believe so. I'm Luna." Artemis smiled but was freaking out on the inside.
Annabeth frowned to herself, "...Luna?" She shook her head before giving them a smile, "I'm Annabeth."
"Well since you asked so nicely, I'm Archer or Archie for short." Apollo introduced himself.
Annabeth chuckled, "Nice to meet you."
The teacher walked in, huffing as she walked towards her desk almost tripping on a cord in the process.
"Hello class, I'm Mrs. Glides and I'll be teaching you trigonometry and precalculus this year."
Third Period (A3)
Athena and Artemis stopped talking as Thalia Grace entered the gymnasium. Artemis put her head down to avoid her gaze.
"Why is your lieutenant here?" Athena whispered.
Artemis closed her eyes, "I gave her permission last week to start looking in schools for new recruits. It didn't cross my mind she will choose this school."
"She probably chose the school for backup as Percy and Annabeth go here. It isn't the easiest conversation to convince mortals we exist."
Artemis nodded in agreement, "That it is not. She's only seen me in my twelve year old form, I don't know if she'll recognize me or not."
"My daughter goes here too, I haven't run into her yet, but I'm sure she'll recognize us during our punishment."
Artemis frowned, "I don't understand why Hera turned us mortal? What's going to make us stop fighting by attending high school?"
Athena shrugged, "I cannot give you a definite answer as Hera would be the only one to do so. If I were to speculate, she's using one of the oldest methods; force them into a room together until they bond. If she would've locked us in with Godly powers we would be blasted into pieces by fighting, she's doing the next best thing."
Artemis let Athena's words kick in, "Do you think we will not fight after the nine months?"
"Heavens no! Hades wearing a pink tutu during the winter solstice would be more probable than us never fighting again."
Artemis snorted at the image as the teacher; Miss Gonzales walked in with a clipboard, "Ladies please take a seat on the floor as I call your name."
...
Annabeth and Percy sat next to each other in their English class. Percy leaned over to whisper in his girlfriend's ear, "I think there's at least three demigods here, and one of them looks like me."
Annabeth nodded, "I saw a pair of twins today, they didn't immediately send off red flags that they're demigods. It could be demigods, but something feels off."
"Twins?"
"Luna and Archie Lyre."
Percy frowned, "Lyre...Their last name is Lyre?"
"Yes seaweed brain, that's what I just said."
"That's too much for it to be a coincidence. In P.E class coach Hedge confirmed he smelled three powerful demigods, triplets to be exact; Adrian, Duncan, and Skylar Lyre."
Annabeth frowned, "It wouldn't be the first demigod family, but five relatives. Maybe we should contact Chiron?"
"Let's wait for a couple days and watch them."
Percy said.
Annabeth nodded before turning her attention back to the teacher.
Lunch
The gods all had lunch together, they didn't know where to sit.
Percy spotted them and waved for them to join him. At Percy's table was him, Annabeth, Piper, Thalia, and... Nico?
Hades furrowed his brow at his son. What was his son doing at a mortal school? He's usually in the underworld or traveling to different countries this time of year.
Zeus froze when he saw his daughter. What was she doing here? He would have to ask Artemis why she was here.
Poseidon and Athena were nervous as they sat down at their children's table.
"I've seen most of you in class today, but there's a few I haven't seen" Percy said as he eyed the group.
Hades went first. "I'm Duncan Lyre. I believe I have the same Physical Education class with Percy."
Poseidon grinned at his son, "I'm Adrian Lyre. I'm also in the same PE class and I think we have the same Latin class if I recall correctly."
Percy nodded in confirmation.
Zeus grumbled under his breath before he went next. "I'm Skyler Lyre. I only have one gym class with Percy so far."
Athena cleared her throat before she went next, "I'm Sophia Lyre. I have gym class with Thalia."
Thalia smiled at her, looking her up and down as If she was deciding she was hunter material.
"I'm Luna Lyre. I'm also in Percy's and Adrian's Latin class. I have math class with Annabeth and I'm in the same gym class with Sophia and Thalia."
Apollo whistled, "I'm Archie Lyre, the hottest Lyre. I have math class with Annabeth and Lu."
"I noticed you all share the last name, are all of you siblings?" Annabeth asked.
"Some of us are, the others are our cousin's from our mother's side. Adrian, Skyler, and I are triplets. Sophia, and the twins Luna and Archie are my aunt's children." Hades explained.
Annabeth frowned as she studied them, "You all have different eye colors, except for the twins."
Poseidon let out a nervous chuckle, "Honestly we have strange genetics as some of our genes come from our grandparents, aunts, and uncles. They all have different eye colors, Skylar is the only one that inherited our mother's eyes."
"What about your father?" Piper asked.
The brothers shared a glance before Hades answered, "We never knew him."
Athena sighed, "The same goes for us. Our mother's are sisters and they basically raised us side by side as we didn't have any father figures in our life."
Athena caught the word Percy mouthed to Annabeth; demigod? That was what she was aiming for, pretending to be a demigod will be much less awkward to explain rather than a god attending school for punishment.
"What about you guys, are you all friends or are you related?" Poseidon asked already knowing the answer.
Percy chuckled, "No not all of us are related, it's actually really complicated. Thalia and Nico and I are cousins, and Annabeth's my girlfriend. Piper is my friend."
Fourth Period (A4)
"Isn't Mr. Blofis Percy's stepfather?" Athena whispered to Poseidon.
Poseidon nodded feeling unsure. Percy seemed to really like Mr. Blofis, he seemed nice when he met him on Percy's fifteenth birthday.
Poseidon liked him more than he liked Ugliano. Thinking about Ugliano made his blood boil, he wanted to interfere multiple times when Sally was married to him, but she made him promise not to.
"Well I hope he smells better than the horrid soul his ex-stepfather was." Hades said wrinkling his nose.
"Do souls smell?" Zeus asked.
"They don't. Gabe was the only one that I could smell, and I wished I haven't."
They quieted down as the teacher walked into the class, "Good afternoon class. I'm Mr. Blofis and I'll be your English teacher this year."
They did basic introductions before tuning into the lesson about Shakespeare.
I'll probably mention it in later chapters but the Roman's are back at Camp Jupiter for the school year.
