As the five mares trudged through the newly produced storm, their synchronized steps seemed to echo, with the heaviness in their hearts. For some reason, the forest usually a familiar sight, appeared strangely distantt this time around. Perhaps it was for their exhaustion, the sleepless nights since Twilight's passing was starting to weight them down? Or maybe it was the eerie aura that surrounded them. Even the land seemed to be feeling every ponies exhaustion and pain, for the land itself seemed to be losing all vibrancy, it was as if the colors were fading away, kinda of like it was fading with their beloved friend's spirt. How the once pristine, fluffy, white clouds now wore a somber shade of gray, as storm clouds threatened to shallow of the once blue sky that had only been there just that morning, now casting a gloomy shadow above their heads, and only adding despair to their journey. Despite Rarity's efforts to keep the five of them dry by using her unicorn magic to summon a peptide, vibrant purple umbrella, the majority of her friends politely declined the officer. Choosing to be showered by the rain, as if it would wash away their troubles. Pinkie Pie, on the other hoof, had a different perspective. ''Do you think it's silly of me to think maybe it I let the rain soak me, I'll be happy again?'' she softly murmured, her words carrying a tinge of uncertainty, as if questioning the rationality of her own thoughts. The notion of finding happiness by allowing the rain to drench her seemed whimsical, yet it held a glimmer of hope. Her voice betrayed her true emotions, exposing the lingering doubt that resided within her. Perhaps, she pondered, immersing herself in the rain could wash away the burdens the weighed her down and bring back the joy she once knew.

With a heavy heart, AppleJack softly spoke to her pink friend, assuring her that none of them would judge he for doing what she needed to do to get through this trip. As they stood at the entrance to the EverFree Forest, her voice seemed to tremble, as if she was reflecting the uncertainty and danger that lay within. The group hesiated, their minds filled with the fresh memory of what had happend to Twilight. Starlight Glimmer, however, took the first step forward, then turned to her friends, asking them if they were ready with her eyes. Rarity, who seemed confused, questioned whether they should simply venture on inside. The weight of the unknown hanging heavily in the air, as a somber shadow was casted over their once hopeful spirits. ''Think about Twi.'' AppleJack reminded them, hoping it would provide them with the strength they needed. As they walked as a group into the silence, the question hung in the air like a heavy cloud. Was Twilight alright? Wherever she was? was she finally safe and happy? Free from the pain that had once consumed her? The overwhelming uncertainty became almost unbearable for them, causing Pinkie Pie to be consumed by a profound sense of sadness. She couldn't help but feel a wave of sorrow engulf her being as she was compelled to witness the fleeting moments of a few hours ago, when she had witnessed Twilight in a state of vitality and joy. The image of Twilight's scrunched-up nose while deep in thought replayed in Pinkie Pie's mind, intensifying her melancholy. The weight of the uncertainty pressed heavily upon them, pushing Pinkie Pie to the brink of emotional turmoil. A profound sense of sadness washed over her, as she was forced to confront the vivid memories from just a few hours earlier, when she had seen Twilight in a state of health and happiness. The image of Twilight's nose scrunching up while lost in deep contemplation played on a loop in Pinkie Pie's mind, intensifying her feelings of sorrow and despair. As the mane five entered into the forest, the tension in the air seemed to thicken. The twisted and gnarled trees loomed overhead, their branches stretching out to them like some twisted skeletal fingers, creating a haunting sight. On a normal day, Rainbow Dash might have found the imagery fascinating if it weren't for the intense fear that surged through her chest. The underbrush echoed with peculiar sounds, the rustling leaves accompanied by the eerie creaking of branches and the cries of animals, creating an atmosphere of imminent danger. It felt as though the forest had awakened, almost like it was relishing in the pain it had inflicted, as if it had gained some sort of sinister energy after claiming its prey. AppleJack had taken over leading the group from Starlight, with her hat pulled low over her eyes, her lasso at the ready in case there came a time when they needed it. The others followed closely behind her, each of their eyes scanning the shadows for any signs of danger. Pinkie Pie was clinging tightly to Fluttershy, their hearts beating in synch, though there was a small bit of warmth and comfort, as they nudged close into one another.

The walk through the forest had been lock and treacherous, and eventually they had began to lose track of time. However, they stumbled upon a clearing, and in the middle of that clearing, stood an old decrepit house. The windows were boarded up, and the roof looked as though it was extremely bad shape, as if it could collapse at any moment. It appeared deserted, but with the EverFree Forest anything was possible. This was a twisted place. The hair on their necks stood up, refusing to calm down until Starlight came forward. ''Stay behind me,'' she warned. They all seemed to nod in synch, as they watched Starlight cautiously approach the house, then out of the blue a voice boomed out from the darkness.

''WHO DARES ENTER MY DOMAIN?!''

The ponies came to an abrupt halt, their hooves freezing in mid-air. Starlight Glimmer, despite her best efforts to maintain composure, mirrored each one of their reactions, her body tensing up as she tried to conceal any signs of fear caused by the unexpected voice that had startled them all. Her attempt to mask her unease was evident however, but the suddenness of the sound had caught her off guard, just like it had with the rest of the group. Then a figure stepped out from the shadows inside that small little house. It was a tall and imposing creature, one with the head of a deer, but the body was of a stallion. He glared into them with fiery orange eyes. ''What brings five little ponies into my part of the land?'' he asked. Starlight, let out a deep breath, try as she may to compose herself, stepped forward. ''We're trying to find answers.'' she said, her voice trembling slightly. ''We didn't mean to intrude on your territory. To be honest, we're not really sure what it is we're looking for. You see, something terrible happened to our friend in this forest, and we've come to find how why it happened. The creature just stared at her, his eyes unblinking. ''Well, Its not often I have visitors.'' he said finally. ''You five are lucky, its not often I feel charitable.'' He stepped aside, gesturing for the group to enter the small house. ''However don't get to comfortable. I don't like uninvited guests.'' he warned as he turned his eyes away from them. The ponies exchanged nervous glances at one another, but followed the creature inside anyways. The intention though horrible from the outside was surprisingly cozy, with a roaring fire in the center of the room, and soft cushions scattered all around it. As if it had been set up for them. The creature motioned for them to sit, and so they did, still feeling uneasy but they tried to ignore it. This was the farthest they had come.

''My name is Cervus,'' the creature said after a moment of silence. ''And I've lived in these woods for a very long time. I've seen many ponies come and go, always passing through like you are. But i've never seen a group quite like yours.'' Starlight glanced around at her friends, unsure of what to say, though Cervus seemed to be waiting for a response, so finally she spoke up. ''Like I said before, something terrible happened to our friend in this forest. She ventured inside, alone, and the last time we saw her, she-she was murdered.'' Cervus's eyes seemed to sadden at the mention of the tragedy, for he said. ''I'm sorry for your loss. The woods can be dangerous at times, especially for those who don't know their ways around, and venture in alone. I would have helped her, if I'd known she was here.''

''That means a lot to us.'' Starlight nodded, greatful for the empathy. ''We're just trying to find out what happened to her and why. We're hoping someone in the forest night have some answers for us.'' Cervus lowered his head at this, seemingly thinking for a moment. ''I may be able to help you, but it won't be easy. The answers you seek are hidden deep within the forest. It will take a lot of courage and strength to understand it all. I aid that if we're going to do this, that you stick with me as closely as you can.'' he warned. ''We'll do whatever it takes.'' Starlight replied, strength merged behind each syllable. Cervus nodded in approval, his eyes gleaming with admiration for their courage. "Follow me," he said, beckoning them to come along. "I know of a place where we can begin our search." With that, he led the way out of the small house and into the thick forest, the group trailing behind him with eager anticipation.

As they journeyed deeper into the woods, their hearts swelled with hope, believing that they were on the brink of uncovering a long-lost secret. But little did they know that the truth they sought was far more sinister than they could have ever imagined. A truth that had been concealed in the annals of history for centuries, waiting to be unearthed by those brave enough to seek it out.
