Summary: Zoe learns more about who she really is and who her parents really are.

"What about her?" Addison asked, curious but also caught off-guard upon hearing someone else say her daughter's name for the first time in years.

"This is her," Mark said, gesturing toward Zoe standing next to him.

"My name's Zoe. Who the hell is Audrey?" Zoe asked.

"Hey, language. Are you even old enough to swear?" Mark asked jokingly. Derek and Addison looked both confused and angry at the same time.

"Look, maybe your name's Zoe now, but your name's not really Zoe; it's Audrey," Mark replied.

"And these are your parents: Derek Shepherd and Addison Montgomery," Mark added, gesturing to his friends.

"Mark, stop. This isn't funny," Addison said angrily.

"I never said it was," Mark replied.

"Cut it out, Mark," Derek hissed.

"Who's Audrey?" Zoe asked.

"You," Mark said simply, turning to face her.

"Mark, stop. This is too much," Addison said, her voice starting to waver.

"I'm serious," Mark said, directing his comment toward his friends.

"My name's Zoe," Zoe insisted, still confused.

"Mark, don't do this," Derek said, just wanting Mark to cut it out. His ex was right; this wasn't funny, and it disgusted him if his best friend thought it was.

"Your name is Audrey, and you're their kid. Someone took you from the hospital daycare a few months before your second birthday in 1999," Mark explained, walking closer to the divorced couple. Zoe looked back, still confused.

"Mark, stop," Addison said sternly, looking toward her ex-husband to do something.

"DNA doesn't lie, Red. You know that better than anyone," Mark said, grabbing two pieces of paper after his lab coat.

Derek and Addison came closer and examined the papers.

"That one's Audrey's, that one's yours," Mark said, pointing out which was which. One being Zoe's test results, and the other being Derek's.

"Wait, how did you get my DNA?" Derek asked, looking up while Addison continued reading the test results.

"Your toothbrush," Mark said simply.

"What…how did you…? You took my toothbrush?" Derek asked.

"Yup," Mark shrugged.

"Wait, how did you get my DNA, then?" Zoe asked.

"...I took one of those tissues I gave you," Mark admitted.

"Ew," Zoe commented, making a face.

"Mark," Addison scolded.

"I'm sorry; I know it was an invasion of your privacy or whatever, but I just…I had to know. You're practically Addie's twin. Except smaller," Mark said.

"He's right," Addison said, looking up from the papers and locking eyes with the teenage girl. The ones that looked so similar to her own. Derek glanced over at his ex-wife before doing the same.

This was their daughter. They knew for sure now. And they felt like they'd just let out a breath they'd been holding in for the first time since she'd disappeared.

"It's really you," Derek said. He and Addison stared at the girl they now knew was their daughter, stunned.

Zoe looked around at the three adults around her, still utterly confused.

"We thought you were dead," Addison choked out, putting a hand over her face to try to stop herself from crying.

"Why?" Zoe asked.

"Someone took you. We were working at the hospital and someone took you while you were at the daycare," Derek explained, trying to keep his voice calm and level when in reality, it felt like it was about to break.

"What do you mean, someone took me?" Zoe asked.

"Exactly that," Mark replied.

"How?" Zoe asked.

"We don't know. The only evidence the police really got was some grainy CCTV video with a man in a brown and orange hat and some inconsistent eyewitness reports," Derek explained.

Zoe froze. She wasn't a football fan in the slightest, but she knew her dad and her uncles were. With her mom's side of the family living in Cleveland two hours away, they always rooted for none other than the Cleveland Browns. And their team colors? Brown and orange.

She knew exactly what hat Derek was describing; her dad wore that hat everywhere all the time. Including now while her mom was at the free clinic. This time, it was Zoe who put her hand over her mouth.

"What?" Addison asked.

"My dad has that hat. His Brownie hat. He wears it all the time," Zoe said.

"Did you just call it a brownie hat?" Mark asked.

"It…Brownie's the mascot. My dad and my uncle are big Browns fans," Zoe said.

"Your dad?" Mark asked.

"Mark, you know what she means," Addison said after seeing how embarrassed Zoe looked.

"He did it; he took her," Derek said, more to himself.

"We don't know that for sure," Addison said. She didn't want Derek to get angrier than she knew he already was.

"Yes, we do, Addie! She just said her dad has the same hat!" Derek exclaimed.

Addison practically froze, not knowing what to say. She couldn't disagree with him, and he knew it.

"Where is he?" Derek asked, seething with anger.

"Derek, hold on," Addison said, trying to stop him.

"He took our daughter, Addie!" Derek exclaimed.

"I…I know that, but shouldn't we let her decide?" Addison asked, referring to Zoe.

"No! He doesn't just get to go scot-free," Derek insisted.

"I'm with Derek," Mark commented.

"When are you not?" Addison asked sarcastically.

"It's okay; they're right. They shouldn't get to get away with it," Zoe finally said.

"Are you sure?" Addison asked.

"Yes," Zoe replied.

"Let's get the son of a bitch," Mark said after he and Derek looked at each other.

"Mark!" Addison scolded. It was ironic, considering the fact that Mark was joking about how Zoe was swearing earlier.

"Sorry," Mark said, putting his hand up in defense.

"But my point still stands," Mark added sternly.

Derek nodded in agreement before the two marched out of Derek's office. Zoe looked over at Addison before the two followed a few steps behind. It didn't take long before the guys realized they had no idea where to find Zoe's "parents".

"Room 6329," Zoe said when Mark and Derek turned around, looking for answers.

"Right," Mark said before they both continued on their path of vengeance.

The two glanced over at each other, both embarrassed that they'd set off without knowing where they were supposed to go. They got all the way to the clinic until Zoe stopped them.

"Wait," Zoe said before they could get to the room.

"We don't have to do this if you don't want to," Addison said.

"No, I…I want to, I just…let me go in there first. I still have something I need to say," Zoe said.

"Okay," Derek said, nodding.

Zoe stormed in to see the two people who had raised her. The people she thought for her entire life were her parents. And the man she now knew took her from her real parents. Except they were gone. With Zoe still standing in front of the open door, frozen in place, Derek, Mark, and Addison walked over to see what was going on.

"They're gone," Zoe muttered.

"They left me," Zoe said, trying her hardest not to let herself get emotional, but Derek, Addison, and Mark could hear the hurt in her voice.

"It's okay," Addison said reassuringly, deciding after hesitation to rub her back gently. Derek joined her, offering an arm around Zoe's back, hoping it'd help to soothe her.

"Where am I supposed to go?" Zoe asked, her voice completely betraying her as tears started falling down her face.

"With me. You're gonna stay with me," Addison decided, her voice breaking ever so slightly as she and Derek held onto her a little tighter.

Zoe bit her lip, letting her parents comfort her.

"I'll call the police," Derek said. Addison glared at him to signal that she didn't want him to go to the police if that wasn't what Zoe wanted.

"Only if you're okay with it," Addison prefaced. Derek sent her a look back; there was no way he wasn't going to report this to the police. He was already thinking about looking through his phone to see if he still had Detective Sheridan's phone number.

"He's right. I want them to pay for what they did," Zoe said, her voice still a little shaky.

"You're sure?" Addison asked. It was obvious their daughter was emotional.

"I'm sure," Zoe confirmed, her voice sounding much steadier now.

"Are you gonna be okay? Talking to the detectives and everything?" Addison asked. Zoe nodded.

Derek pulled out his phone, but before he started making the call, he looked up at Addison.

"Do you still have Sheridan's number?" Derek asked.

"Yeah…I should," Addison said, thinking about it as she pulled out her cell phone.

"Who's Sheridan?" Zoe asked, curious.

"He was the detective on your case," Mark informed her.

"Oh," Zoe commented.

"Aud…I mean, Zoe. What, um, what can you tell us about your…um, the people that took you?" Derek asked, trying to tread lightly.

"Robert and Eleanor Monroe. We lived in Toledo but Mom's…I mean, Eleanor's side is from Cleveland…," Zoe said as she suddenly remembered her uncle, or whoever he was, was still in the hospital.

Zoe stormed off, which just confused the other three. They followed her until she stopped and went into a room just four doors down.

"Where are they?" Zoe asked after seeing Isaac in the hospital bed.

"What?" Isaac asked, confused.

"My parents, or whoever the hell they are," Zoe replied.

"I don't know. Shouldn't they be in your mom's room?" Isaac asked.

"They aren't. They're gone. And you know why they're gone? Because they probably saw one of my real parents walking around the hospital and ran," Zoe said angrily.

"What do you mean, real parents?" Isaac asked.

"You don't know," Zoe said after a brief pause.

"Are we sure he doesn't know?" Mark asked. The guy could be lying for all he knew.

"Know what?" Isaac asked.

"That they took me. Away from my real parents," Zoe replied, filling him in.

"What do you mean?" Isaac asked.

"These are my real parents. Dad took me from the daycare and then they came back to Toledo pretending I was their baby," Zoe replied.

"I'm sorry, kid; I didn't know," Isaac said apologetically.

"You have any idea where they'd go?" Derek asked.

"No. I'm sorry," Isaac replied.

"Look, I'll do whatever you need me to, kid. I swear, I didn't know," Isaac said.

"Good," Derek commented before Addison told Derek she still had Detective Sheridan's number and that she'd call him right away.

While Derek and Addison called Detective Sheridan as well as the local police, Zoe found herself caught in the middle, unsure of what to do next. Mark took notice as he also felt at a loss until he realized it'd probably be best if Zoe got some much-needed space.

"Come on," Mark said, gesturing as he led Zoe down the hall, away from Derek and Addison. But he made sure at least one of them knew he and Zoe were leaving beforehand.

"Where are we going?" Zoe asked, still feeling overwhelmed by how fast everything had gone into motion.

"Anywhere but that room. I thought you could use some time away from all…that," Mark replied. Zoe smiled back appreciatively.

"Thanks," Zoe said.

"So, how are you feeling?" Mark asked, curious as they sat on a stripped bed in an empty room to get some privacy.

"I don't know. Confused," Zoe replied honestly, shrugging and unsure of what she should say.

I just can't believe I didn't know. All this time, I thought they were my parents. I feel so stupid," Zoe commented sadly.

"Hey, it's not your fault. What else were you supposed to think? You were only one, and apparently, you were crying; wailing, really," Mark said, starting to recount the story.

"Really?" Zoe asked.

"Yeah. I mean, there was one really weird witness statement, and I'm assuming it was wrong since it contradicted everyone else's accounts, but everyone said you were crying. Loudly. And the guy was trying to calm you down as he walked past them," Mark replied.

"Wow," Zoe commented.

"It's not your fault, kid. And it's not Derek or Addison's either, even though they've probably spent plenty of time thinking it was. The only ones to blame are those crazy people that took you," Mark reassured her. Zoe nodded.

"You're right. I know you are, I just…feel…I don't know, weird," Zoe admitted.

"That's not your fault, either," Mark said, smiling encouragingly.

"Can I ask you something?" Zoe asked after they sat together in silence for a minute.

"Ask anything you want," Mark replied.

"Would it be weird to change my name?" Zoe asked. Mark turned and raised an eyebrow.

"I don't…It doesn't feel right calling myself Zoe anymore," Zoe admitted. She'd been thinking about it ever since Derek almost called her Audrey. When he corrected himself, she felt her heart sink.

"I don't think it's weird," Mark said.

"Go by whatever name you want; if it makes you feel better, you can even go by Hashtag," Mark joked, remembering that he heard about it on the news a while back. Zoe laughed, which made Mark's face light up.

"I wanna go by Audrey. My parents must've named me that for a reason, right?" Audrey asked.

"Yeah. Addison loves old movies, especially the Audrey Hepburn ones. And Derek, he…liked the name enough to agree with her. I think Lizzie told him it meant strength or something like that," Mark recounted.

"Lizzie?" Audrey asked.

"Your aunt. One of your aunts; you have four of them. And one uncle on your mom's side," Mark chuckled.

"Wow. I've only ever had an uncle and my…kidnappers," Audrey commented.

"Well, now you've got a bunch of family," Mark smiled. Audrey smiled shyly back as they went back to sitting in silence.

Meanwhile, Derek called the local police station while Addison called Detective Brett Sheridan, the detective assigned to their daughter's kidnapping 13 years ago. He called Addison a year after Audrey had disappeared with his condolences, as the case at the time was stuck without any new leads.

It became a tradition to call every year, and when it got to be seven years after the incident, Brett stayed on the line while Addison cried because, legally, they had to presume Audrey was dead. Brett still insisted he'd keep her in his thoughts and promised he'd get justice for their little girl.

By now, Derek and Addison were pacing the hallway, each on their prospective phones, as they talked to detectives. Brett told Addison he'd work with whatever detective got assigned to Audrey's case in Seattle, and that he'd hand over anything they needed to help their investigation. After Derek told the 911 operator the basics, they asked him to come down to the station to tell them everything he knew. They also said it'd be better if he could bring Audrey, too.

"So?" Addison asked after Derek hung up the phone. Her phone call hadn't lasted as long, and Derek, despite Addison's numerous gestures, didn't switch over to speakerphone.

"They want me to come down to the station," Derek sighed. Addison nodded; that made sense.

"Zoe, too," Derek added.

"We should probably find her then," Addison said before they started walking down the hallway toward where they saw Mark and Zoe earlier. It wasn't long before they found them sitting in an empty patient room.

"Hey, so they want us to answer some questions down at the station. You okay with that?" Derek asked, directing his question toward his daughter.

"Yeah," Audrey nodded before pushing herself off the bed.

"There's just one thing," Audrey started. Derek and Addison looked back at her, curious.

"I wanna go by Audrey," Audrey said. Her parents smiled upon hearing her name.

"Is that okay?" Audrey asked.

"Of course. I think that's great," Addison commented, smiling widely.

"I just need to cancel the rest of my day and then we can go," Derek said, before leading Addison and Audrey down the hallway to the OR board.

After they got there, they stood back as they watched him talk to Dr. Owen Hunt, the chief of surgery. After a short conversation, they saw him look past to see Addison and Audrey standing by the receptionist's desk before coming back to join them. They rode the elevator down to the parking garage and were well on their way to the station. None of them knew what would happen next or if they'd ever catch Audrey's kidnappers. They'd gone 13 years undetected. But at least now they had their daughter back.

A/N: I'm sorry if changing Audrey's name from Zoe to Audrey in the middle of the chapter made it confusing, but I wanted her to go by her birth name as a way to separate herself from her old life, and it's just easier to do that earlier on in the story. It's also why this chapter's called Audrey (if that wasn't already obvious). It's not named after a specific song this time, but the other chapters will be named after different songs. I hope you guys like this story and where I'm taking it. I have just over ten chapters banked so far that just need to get edited and named (if they don't already have a title), and I am really enjoying where the story's going so far. Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long before I post the next chapter. Thanks for reading!
