A/N: This story is my take on the Star Wars Force Awakens movie series in a crossover with Harry Potter. I started running into problems with inspiration so had to stop. Once again, I was trying to be more original rather than simply following a movie plot.

Harry Potter and the Force Awakens
by Roff

CHAPTER ONE

Harry Potter was sitting in his manor house alone. Locked away from the rest of the world.

He was lucky the goblins decided to help him after the war. He wasn't sure they would after Ron, Hermione, and he had broken into the bank to steal Hufflepuff's Cup from the Lestrange vault. The dragon they escaped on caused quite a lot of damage too. Had Voldemort not shown up afterwards and killed many of the goblins, they might still be mad at Harry.

However, after Harry killed Voldemort and explained what that cup had been turned into, they were a bit more understanding. They still took all of his money from the Potter trust vault and almost half from the Potter family vault. Of course, they never touched the Black family vault or the other vaults that now belonged to the Blacks. As it turned out, the Lestranges and the Malfoys each owed the Black family a considerable amount of money. They were only rich because they borrowed from the Black family to get their start. Then they pilfered from the Blacks whenever they could get away with it.

They never paid back those funds, especially since Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy expected their son Draco to become the next Lord Black. The plan was for him to forgive all their debts. That didn't quite work out since the last remaining head of house Black left everything to his godson.

After the war, Harry made all monies due immediately from the Lestranges and the Malfoys. Since none of those Death Eaters were still alive, including Draco, the whole of their vaults were absorbed into the Black family vault, minus any Gringotts fees of course.

Voldemort had taken "donations" from his Death Eaters to fund his campaign of total domination. He also had a vault in Gringotts. It was actually Slytherin's vault that he laid claim to a few years after he graduated Hogwarts. Since Harry defeated him multiple times and one last final time, all Voldemort's possessions were forfeited to Harry. Now, all that money was placed into the Potter family vault bringing it back up to more than it was before the damages were taken out.

All this money and a well-protected manor to live in, yet Harry was not happy.

Why?

Because Harry was alone.

Nearly everyone who fought in the last battle were dead. This included all his friends, Hermione, Ron, and even his Ginny. In fact, the entire Weasley family was completely wiped out. Nearly all the professors were killed and the majority of the students. Remus and Tonks were dead too. Almost everyone he was close to was now gone.

If it weren't so sad, it would be funny. Voldemort was finally dead, but somehow he managed to still take everything away from Harry. Voldemort was good at that. And people used to say Harry was lucky. Bad luck was more like it.

Tired of sitting alone in his manor moping, Harry got up and apparated to Hogwarts, or what was left of it. The wards were no longer active so he was able to arrive right in front of the broken steps leading to the now non-existent front doors.

Two years had passed since the battle so all the bodies had been removed. It was basically closed off to visitors now. The only wards still in place were to keep non-magicals away and wildlife out of the castle. Those wards had to be reapplied on the perimeter.

School-age children were forced to go to a different magical school away from England. All the other magical schools around the world welcomed them after the tragedy that befell the famous Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in Scotland. After the school was hit so many times by powerful spells and giants pounding on it, it finally collapsed and killed almost everyone who was left in the castle. Most of those were the injured being cared for and their caregivers, along with many elves. No one expected the castle would ever collapse so it surprised them when it did.

As far as he knew, Harry was the only one that ever came here anymore. The reason he was back today, other than being bored out of his mind, was because when he was here a couple of weeks ago he felt something. He had been letting his emotions run free at the time while feeling sorry for himself.

There was no one around so he dropped his mind shields completely and just allowed himself to feel …everything. It was the second anniversary of the battle and he was feeling quite melancholy at the time.

One would think that the wizarding world would hold an annual memorial every year to remember all the sacrifices made to free them from Voldemort's tyranny. However, since so many died, no one wanted to be reminded of that battle. For Harry though, all the loneliness and heartbreak at the loss of his friends and loved ones had taken an incredible toll on him.

That's when it happened. He felt something different when he opened up. He felt magic outside of himself. He knew the castle rested on three ley lines and once held a lot of magic from the centuries of students using magic in its halls. He knew this was a place of great magic and had felt the castle's magic before, but this time it was different. He could actually feel the ambient magic more intensely, like it was there to be used, rather than just being aware it was there.

When Harry opened up last time, he felt the magic fill him, saturate him, energize him. He was looking for this again. After two weeks of pondering what happened back at his manor, he wanted to figure this out and see what all he could do with it, …if anything.

Standing before the ruined castle, Harry dropped his mind shields again and allowed himself to feel. He reached out with his senses and let the magic envelope him. It didn't take long before he felt it again. He felt like he could do almost anything with this power. It was intoxicating, but at the same time, it had a calming influence.

Harry opened his eyes and concentrated on some small rubble laying at his feet. He then raised his hand and waved it at the small rocks. With just a thought, he lifted the rocks into the air with his magic.

"Wow!" exclaimed Harry then almost dropped the rocks in his excitement.

Harry had never been able to do wandless magic before so he was quite shocked. Not only that, he felt no pull on his own magic because he was using the ambient magic that was flowing through him and was saturating the air around him.

He let the rocks fall and turned to a very large stone from the castle that was taller than himself, even on its side. It was laying on the ground nearby. Using the same thought, Harry slowly lifted the huge stone and moved it back closer to the main part of the castle before setting it down again. Checking himself, he found he was not even tired.

He wondered what else he could do with this newfound power.

Eventually, Harry discovered that this outside power could be used to strengthen and improve himself. For instance, if he used too much of his magic he would feel weak until his magic could build back up again. Usually some food and sleep were required to recover. However, with the ambient magic, he could use it to fill him up and it would replenish his depleted magic immediately and quickly.

He reasoned that because Hogwarts was so saturated with magic, mostly due to the three ley lines, that allowed him to discover this new magic easier. Potter Place sat on two ley lines so he could feel the magic in the air there too, especially since he had already figured out how to use this new magic.

After a while, he was able to work out how to constantly keep his magic fully charged even while using it extensively. He just kept renewing it with magic outside of himself. This led him to believe that all the magic in the air was available for him to somehow tap into. Why he never discovered this before was a mystery to him, other than he never allowed himself to completely open up before that first time he felt it.

Then he wondered why others had not discovered they could use ambient magic. Perhaps they were keeping quiet about it.

He was also wondering if the fact he had united all three Deathly Hallows had something to do with it. He had been feeling different ever since the Elder wand was summoned from Voldemort during their fight and he caught it in his hand. He happened to have the stone and the cloak on his person at the time. All hallows were united at that very moment under one person who happened to be a direct descendent of Ignotus Peverell, the original owner of the famous invisibility cloak.

Given Harry was the last and direct descendent of the Peverells, that made him the rightful owner of the three hallows. Whether or not he was the master of death remained to be seen. He was only seventeen when he killed Voldemort and came into possession of the Elder wand. Harry didn't think he knew enough at such a young age. Of course, he was just nineteen at this point so that still held true.

He did eventually figure out that it was the ambient magic on the Earth that replenished a person's magic when they overused it. While they rested, their body automatically but slowly pulled in the magic to replenish what was lost. However, witches and wizards could not consciously make this happen. They also could not feel the magic in the air the same way Harry could.

Something awoke within Harry though when at one of his lowest points. He was not only able to feel this ambient magic but it was made available to him to use as he saw fit.

Harry decided to keep this new magic power a secret for now and tell no one, not that he had anyone to tell anyway. There was Kingsley, who was now the Minister for Magic, but he was busy straightening out and cleaning up the Ministry. Harry rarely ever saw him anymore. No, Harry was already treated differently. He didn't need any additional attention by exposing this new power.

He certainly would never tell anyone he had all three hallows.

Harry decided to continue testing the new power to see what else he could figure out. He could already use the power to enhance his speed or jump long distances. He just directed the power into his body and especially his legs. He was also starting to know just before something bad was going to happen. As long as he kept himself open to that power, then he found he was able to avoid accidents or, for that matter, simply people looking for The-Boy-Who-Lived who became The-Man-Who-Conquered (a little too late).

Harry always added that last part.

One of the powers that came with this special ability was empathy. Harry could clearly detect what people were feeling and sometimes even why they felt that way. He discovered this when he went out into the Muggle world with a glamour on his face to do some shopping. At first, he thought he was accidentally using Legilimency, but realized he was only detecting their feelings, not their thoughts or memories.

Another power he discovered was enhanced hearing or listening. Harry discovered that if he used that special power to listen, he could listen in on conversations that were not even in the same room with him. This could come in very handy, he thought.

Harry was very aware of his precognitive ability since he discovered it early on and used it often, but on occasion, he would get vague glimpses of the future or sense when someone was in danger or going to be in danger. When he acted on this and received confirmation that these visions and feelings were true, it was even more shocking.

Sight enhancement was another ability he found he could do when he forced his power into his eyes to improve them. At first, he practiced it at night in his bedroom before going to sleep. He found after he got it to work that he could see clearly even with his eyes closed. What was more amazing was he could even see past walls. This had the added benefit of healing his eyesight.

He was beyond happy to get rid of his glasses.

As he continued to play with his new magic, he discovered more and more things he could do with it. He was thankful for it too. It allowed him to put his thoughts and concentration into learning this new power instead of dwelling on the past.

About the same time he discovered the new power, he had another idea and started studying magic intently and relentlessly, especially magic dealing with runes and warding. The Potter library in his manor had all the books he could ever need on magic so he was all set, other than putting in the hard work. He needed something to keep his mind busy all the time so he dove right in. The new magic took up a lot of his time but not all of it. Studying runes and warding filled in some of the gaps so he had less time to be sad about the past.

He then discovered with his Occlumency and the newly discovered power, he was able to learn very quickly and sometimes at an unprecedented rate. Part of it, he realized, was due to a natural talent for runes and wards. He soon found out from perusing the handwritten manuscripts left by some of his ancestors, in addition to talking to some of those ancestors in their portraits, that the Potters were well known for having an affinity in that area.

He was just wishing he could have found this out sooner. Runes would have been much better to take than Divination.

Another two years had passed and Harry was becoming quite proficient in this new magic. He liked the enhancements to his body when he used the power. Now that he knew how to let the outside magic flow through his body and keep his core replenished, he decided it was time for the ultimate test.

Harry apparated to Hogwarts again. Standing in front of the broken castle, Harry pulled in all the power he could from the air and cast the biggest Reparo spell he could muster. It was quite alarming how much it actually repaired. Harry continued on around the castle until he repaired each side of it on the outside. He then made his way inside and began casting anew. It took seventy-seven very powerful repair charms to fix everything, but the castle looked like its old self when he was done, especially after he used some very powerful cleaning charms to finish up.

He felt a little tired. But then he just took a breath, pulled in more magic from the air to replenish himself, and he was practically back to normal. An hour later after not using his magic he was back to normal, that is to say powerful again.

The weirder thing was he never told anyone what he did. He decided to let them find out for themselves if they ever bothered to visit the castle again.

Harry had also joined a martial arts class learning the Krav Maga style as another distraction and to increase his fighting abilities up close. He felt with the enhancements the new magic gave him, especially the precognitive ability and speed, it would give him quite the advantage even if he had to control most of his speed around the non-magicals.

He was found correct in that assumption. From the first lesson, he far outstripped the other beginning students. The sensei was telling him he was a natural like he had never seen before. Others agreed with him. Krav Maga was a martial arts style that combined other styles to become one of the deadliest forms of martial arts in the world. It included Boxing, Karate, Wrestling, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and other arts. It was basically a militarized mixed martial art very effective in self-defense, not to mention very painful or even deadly to the recipient.

As a matter of fact, many martial arts are considered a sport and people compete against each other using these styles. Krav Maga is considered a non-sport mixed martial art. There are no competitions for this style. Krav Maga does not usually concern itself with the life of the opponent.

Over that same two years taking Krav Maga, Harry had advanced to their black belt level and beyond, way ahead of the other students who began at the same time as he did. The black belt testing is by invitation only. Because of his special abilities and prowess, Harry received his invitation a little earlier than normal.

As he learned more techniques, he discovered that meditating was something that helped with his new power. If he sat down and meditated, opening himself up to that power, he found he could sense things elsewhere or see visions of what obviously was the future. Some things he saw were quite troubling. He believed he was seeing beings from other worlds and not all of them were human.

During the same two years, as Harry continued to keep himself busy, he studied in his manor using books and some knowledgeable family portraits to bring him up to speed on runes and warding. He then decided to put his secondary plan in place and apparated to Hogwarts again.

Harry landed in front of the doors and made his way inside. He immediately made his way up to the seventh floor without the staircases moving at all and found himself in front of the tapestry that featured Barnabas the Barmy trying to teach some trolls ballet. He noticed on the way up that while all the portraits were restored, none of them were active anymore. They were just like non-magical portraits with no movement or talking.

Seeing the tapestry, Harry turned around and stared at the blank wall behind him. He was hoping against all hope that the Room of Requirement was still working. It was a special magical room that he hoped was not damaged. If it wasn't in use when the castle collapsed then he felt he had a chance it would still work. He had used a lot of magic repairing the castle, plus it still sat on three ley lines, so he hoped there was enough here for the room to work again.

Harry knew the castle had a ward stone that needed to be repaired and recharged but he had no idea where it would be. He was hoping the Room of Requirement would take him to it if he asked. Otherwise, he may never find it, he thought. The castle was too big and had way too many secret rooms. Plus, he never found it while he was walking through repairing everything.

Pacing in front of the wall, Harry passed it three times thinking that he needed to get to the ward stone to fix the wards on the castle. After the third pass, Harry stopped and turned with a smile when he heard the door forming.

It was a small, reinforced oak door that appeared on the wall. Harry opened the door and peered inside. He had to stoop over some to go through the doorway due to its short height. Once he was inside, he saw a medium-sized room with a massive stone, twice as tall as Harry, off kilter in the middle of it. It must have weighed several tons. There were also two portraits on the wall in the room. Based on what he knew, Harry was pretty sure they were of Godric Gryffindor and Rowena Ravenclaw. Once again, they were not active.

Harry approached the ward stone. Apparently, it was not harmed, just out of place from when the castle was damaged so badly. Using his new power, Harry lifted the gigantic stone and positioned it back into its rightful position. He then inspected it carefully, making note of all the runes and what they were there for. He could see that runes had been added over several years. Most had been cognizant of making sure they all worked with the existing ones, but there were a few that did not.

After careful study, Harry removed the bad ones after realizing they were no longer needed. The rune patterns started to look much better after that. Then, once he added his own personal runes to exempt himself from the wards, amongst other things, Harry stepped back and admired his handy work.

There was only one thing left to do – power up the wards.

Harry gathered his magic and using the Elder wand, he sent a large pulse of magic to the stone. He watched it start the power up but then went right back out. He wasn't sure what the problem was.

"What am I missing?" Harry asked out loud then stared at the problem.

"I believe you have it sitting the wrong way," Harry heard a female voice from behind him.

Harry turned to face the portrait.

"Rowena's right. You got it back into position but it's turned wrong. You'll have to move it around so that the runes match up with the ones on the floor."

Harry slapped his forehead in frustration. He couldn't believe he forgot to make sure it was sitting in the right position. It was perfectly square so it would sit in its indention in the floor no matter which direction you put it in there, but the runes had to match up so the power of the stone flowed into the castle and down to pull from the ley lines.

Harry looked carefully at the runes on the floor and found the matching ones on the stone. He then wandlessly picked up the stone and turned it until it was in the correct position before setting it back down into the indention on the floor.

"Now try it," Rowena said.

Harry pulled his Elder wand and repeated what he did last time. Once the powerful magic hit the stone, it lit up this time and stayed up. Harry smiled.

"You did it!" exclaimed Godric. "Can I ask your name?"

Harry felt the wards humming again so he turned back to the portraits.

"I'm assuming you're Godric Gryffindor," Harry said pointing at the portrait. Godric nodded. "And you're Rowena Ravenclaw, correct?" She nodded. "I'm Harry Potter. It's my pleasure to finally meet you."

"Oh, thank goodness," replied Rowena. "Sorry, but we saw how young you are and were not confident in your abilities. We were a bit worried. However, since you are a Potter then I suppose your success was no accident."

"True, true," Godric said.

"Well, I do appreciate your help. I can't believe I forgot that basic step. When did you wake up?"

"When you sent that first wave of magic at the stone and it failed," replied Godric. "There was enough magic released into the room to wake us back up."

"You mean all I had to do was send a pulse of magic at you and you could have been helping me this whole time?"

"Yes," Rowena replied.

"Then I guess I am very young as you say. Sorry, I should have tried that. I noticed all the portraits in the castle were no longer active. Then when I saw you guys, I figured getting the wards up was top priority. I could figure out the issue with the portraits later."

"I think you'll find the portraits are all awake now," offered Godric. "The ward stone keeps the magic flowing throughout the castle, so now that it's working again, everyone should be awake."

"Excellent!" declared Harry.

"Can you tell us what happened?" asked Rowena.

"I am also curious about your power, Harry Potter," stated Godric. "You just did something twice that normally takes three or more witches and wizards to do. You lifted that stone all by yourself and you did it wandlessly. Just how powerful are you?"

"I guess I am quite powerful. I suppose I should tell you everything to get you caught up. It's quite a long tale but a thrilling one, if I say so myself."

"Before you do that, why don't you meet us in Godric's old office?" asked Rowena. "That way Salazar and Helga can join us. I'm sure some of the other past headmasters wouldn't mind hearing it too."

"Where would that be?" asked Harry.

"It's the regular headmaster's office," offered Godric helpfully.

"Oh, but I've never seen your portraits in there."

"We haven't appeared in that office for many generations but given what happened to the castle, we will be there again to help out for now," Rowena informed him.

"Okay, I'll see you over there," replied Harry who headed for the door.

He was halfway there when he realized he could of apparated instead. However, he was enjoying all the portrait's shocked faces as they saw him walking down the hall. When he reached the gargoyle, it winked at him and moved out of the way. Harry made his way up the stairs and opened the door to the office he hadn't been in for well over four years.

Harry looked up at the portraits and waved. A few said "Mr. Potter" and nodded. Dumbledore's called him by his given name as usual. Harry then looked at another wall and saw the four founders. He could see how it was easy to hide their portraits on that wall. The former headmasters were shocked to see Harry but more so to see the founders show up again.

After being introduced to Salazar Slytherin and Helga Hufflepuff, then insisting on first names for everyone, Harry began his tale.

"You see, it all started with a prophecy…."

Harry told them the full prophecy and all about Tom Riddle who changed his name to Voldemort and everything he did, all the people he murdered, including Harry's parents. He told about his adventures in the castle and constantly fighting Voldemort, the horcruxes, and how he was one. He finished with the Battle of Hogwarts when he got rid of the horcrux in himself and finally killed Voldemort. However, it was too late for all his friends, the love of his life, the professors, and pretty much everyone he ever cared about.

He then told them a little about the extra power he discovered he has over two years ago. Also, how it still has him baffled about where it came from and what exactly it is, other than it was apparently ambient magic in the air that he could somehow use now. He then related how that had not stopped him from experimenting and learning how to do some amazing things with it.

He didn't tell them everything about his new power, like the special abilities, as he wanted to keep most of it secret for a while longer. Plus he didn't want the extra attention. He just mentioned how it made him more powerful.

"Some in the past have tried to use rune tattoos on their bodies to draw in the ambient magic and use it," stated Godric. "However, this proved to be very dangerous since their bodies were not equipped to handle it. They had to make sure the rune or runes were tightly controlled to keep them from drawing in too much ambient magic. Many died attempting this. Most were weaker wizards and witches who wanted more power. Their core just wasn't big enough to handle it."

"I remember reading about an ancient civilization once that used ambient magic instead of internal magic," offered Salazar. "It sounds exactly like what you described. Perhaps, you are a descendant of these people and that power just awakened in you?" he posed.

"Perhaps, but what were these people called?" Harry asked.

"No one knew that information that I know of. They were just a very advanced race that mysteriously disappeared for some reason. Supposedly, they had technology that was never even heard of in our day, but yet they existed long before we did. No one ever found this technology so the information may be wrong. Some believe that magic might have come from them but their magic was very different from ours. No one knows for sure."

Harry felt the wards ping.

"Interesting. I thank you for your help but I believe we have guests at the gates. I'll be back shortly."
