The Immortal Harry Potter
by Roff
CHAPTER TWO
Harry was dropped off at the airport with no visible luggage in sight. When he entered the terminal he started looking at the flight board and all the destinations he could choose from. He wasn't sure the best place to go but then decided to stick to English speaking countries. He then narrowed it down to Australia and the United States.
Since he knew Hermione and likely Ron too would be heading to Australia to find Hermione's parents, he decided to go to America just to make sure he avoided them, even though the chance of running into each other was slim. Until he could adequately explain what had happened to him, he wanted to hold off on that conversation with his friends. He wasn't even sure if he wanted to share with anyone else his secret.
First, he would get his head around it, no matter how long it took him to accomplish that. Then he would see what he wanted to tell his friends and go from there.
The most flights to the U.S. went to New York so he decided that would be best so he could get out of Britain quicker. From there, he would figure out where he wanted to go.
The flight was a few hours so Harry busied himself some of the time with keeping a young child happy. The mother and daughter ended up sitting with him on the same row.
The mother apologized when she sat down with her young toddler but Harry assured her he didn't mind.
The little girl would get a little fussy at times when she wasn't napping or eating. The young mother seemed to appreciate the help since she couldn't let her daughter be free to move around the plane.
By the time they landed in New York, the little girl was sound asleep in Harry's lap. She had crawled up into his lap about two hours before. So after looking out the window at the clouds, etc., since Harry was seated by the window, she got comfortable and fell asleep with Harry holding her.
Of course, she woke up when her ears popped as they decreased their altitude to get ready for the landing. She wasn't happy about that so Harry gave her back to her mother.
"You have been wonderful, Harry. My daughter has definitely taken a liking to you. You must be a big brother to some lucky sibling," she told him after she settled her daughter back down.
"No. I'm an only child and I lost both my parents when I was about her age so I don't even remember them. I've always wondered what it would be like though to have grown up with my parents and possibly had some siblings to play with."
"Oh, I'm so sorry."
"No. It's fine. I've had a long time to come to terms with it and like I said I don't remember them."
The plane landed and they were waiting to exit.
"Thank you so much for sharing your daughter with me today. It was a pleasure getting to know the both of you."
"You're a very nice young man, Harry. Don't ever change."
"Thank you, Stephanie. Enjoy the rest of your day and you too, little one," he said shaking her foot.
She giggled and smiled at Harry. She was just happy that long ride was over.
Harry left the mother and daughter once they were inside the terminal, saying a last good-bye. He then made his way to the airport exit.
There were plenty of cabs so he grabbed one and had the driver drop him off at a nice hotel. He figured since he was extremely rich he might as well take advantage of it.
When he walked up to the front desk and checked in, the young woman waiting on him thought he looked a little young and wondered how he could afford such a nice hotel. However, when he laid his black credit card down in front of her, a card that told her right away that he could certainly afford it, she only had one question.
"Do you not have any luggage sir?" she asked looking around him and near his feet.
"Not anymore apparently," Harry said remembering what he decided to say if asked. "The airlines have no idea where my luggage went. I believe I'll have to do some shopping while I'm here. I was needing to upgrade my wardrobe anyway. Been a little busy of late, but now I'm on vacation."
"Well then, welcome to New York! I hope you enjoy your stay, Mr. Potter," she said while handing him his key card to one of the more expensive suites.
"Thank you," he then looked down at where her nametag was pinned and said, "Linda," as he looked back up at her and smiled. "Have a wonderful day!"
The suite was nice and spacious with a separate bedroom from the main room.
Harry realized he was finally able to relax. No one knew where he was so he could enjoy some time to himself and hopefully figure out what to do while he thought over the change in his life.
There were some nice men's shops close to the hotel so he headed there first. He was custom fitted for two suits that he bought along with a garment bag to carry them in. He bought the entire works including pants with matching suit jackets, shirts, ties, socks, and shoes.
He walked out of the shop wearing his new blue suit and made his way to another shop that was recommended where he could buy some khakis, blue jeans, shirts, underwear, socks, sneakers and a cap for casual wear. He then made his way back to the hotel and his room with packages in hand.
He was hungry so he ordered room service before putting away all his new clothes. He then ate a good meal after it arrived.
With time on his hands and finally away from everyone that knows him, Harry decided to ponder the situation he was now in and figure out what he wanted to do in New York and where he should go next.
He figured the best idea was to enjoy his vacation first and get his mind off of everything he went through. Once he was able to relax into the idea of it all being over and he no longer had a maniacal killer after him, then he could concentrate more on his unexpected immortality.
