CHAPTER TWO
Corellia was the capital planet of the Corellian system, which included Selonia, Drall, Tralus, and Talus.
Corellia was located in the Corellian sector and was part of the core worlds in the Galactic Republic. It had cities like the one Harry was in, oceans, forests, and jungles as part of its terrain. Corellia was mostly known for its ship building. That's why there were so many shipyards on the planet and in orbit. It was the main part of the economy for the planet.
The question Harry had was how much would a good ship cost and how would he go about learning how to fly it? He thought having his own ship and exploring the galaxy would be a good way to spend his time. Meanwhile, as he worked toward that goal, he could check out this new planet and see what all it offers.
While he pondered what his best options would be, he received more direction from his magic, …er Force. He then transfigured his clothes so he would blend in better with the natives and removed his invisibility.
From the urging of the Force, and since he also thought it a good idea, Harry decided to leave his other protections in place to keep his power suppressed and undetectable from other Force users. The Force seemed to be happy when he agreed.
This was odd but with the Force saturating the place so much, he was not surprised at it having sentience and a personality. As long as it kept leading him in the right direction, he decided to go with the flow.
One of the things Harry did back on Earth several years ago after he faked his death, was to cover his body in runes. He used his own blood to paint the runes on with his magic. There was nothing stronger he could have used, being the Master of Death, so he collected enough blood before applying the runes over his entire body.
When he had them all applied, Harry provided the necessary magic to activate them. He then watched in the mirror as the blood runes soaked into his body and disappeared, leaving his body spotless once again.
The runes served multiple purposes. While he couldn't stay dead when someone killed him due to his immortality and being the Master of Death, he certainly didn't enjoy the pain that usually accompanied death. That's why he created runes to make his body physically stronger, quicker, and more durable.
As Master of Death he discovered he was already stronger, quicker, and more durable but he wanted to improve on that.
Some of the runes on his body were the ones he used to stay undetectable while he occasionally added a spell or two if he felt it was necessary for certain situations. Normally, they were plenty good enough though, especially if using his invisibility at the same time.
The cloak's invisibility did far more than just make you invisible. It removed the other senses too, so you were protected from sight, sound, and smell. It also muted several magical senses, but Harry wasn't sure how much that would work with the Force. Technology was another issue, but between his built-in cloak and runes, he seemed to have it covered.
Since everyone used Republic Credits for money, Harry decided he first needed a job to earn those credits. He was still curious about getting his own ship to travel the galaxy and explore so he best get started and work his way up.
He started to bring a lot of gold with him but then decided against it. He wasn't sure if gold would have any value where he was going. He also wanted to experience starting over and learning from the ground up. Instead, he just made sure he wouldn't starve while adjusting to his new home.
Ship building was the main business on the planet and since Harry needed to learn more about ships, how they work, etc. then he decided getting a job with one of the large ship building companies would be his best bet.
The Force promptly agreed.
However, Harry realized quickly that he needed some identification he could use so he could get a job and get paid. He did some scouting around the planet and looking at maps to see about coming up with a backstory.
He decided that he had come from the rural parts of the planet where it was mostly forest. He found the best location and used his Force (that still felt weird not saying magic, he thought) to make the local government believe he was dropped off there some 20 years back when he was just 5 years old.
Evidently his lousy parents didn't want him and that earned him some sympathy. At the age of 5 he only knew a few things, the most important being his name. He was then raised by some locals that passed on a few years back. He had also been lax in keeping his ID updated. It didn't matter anyway since it was stolen.
"I was robbed while visiting the city so I now need my dentification renewed and updated so the stolen one will be obsolete," he told the woman after pulling some information from her mind.
Of course, the search for the Potter name netted no results by the worker so they were unable to track down his wayward parents who shamelessly dropped him off pretty much in the middle of nowhere.
All the proper information about him was entered after a simple Confundus helped the government worker enter and back date all the information. Harry was then handed his new identification and sent on his way.
Harry went back to Coronet and slept in his trunk for the night. He had discovered some underground tunnels so found a good place out of the way and set his trunk down. He setup some complicated wards to protect his trunk and himself. People would not even know his trunk was there. He then entered it to get some food and some rest.
His trunk space was massively expanded. The living quarters alone were the size of a large manor house. He had training rooms, a potions lab, an office, several bedrooms, a commercial-sized kitchen, and all sorts of other goodies.
The back garden was huge with a regular sized yard that was surrounded by a white picket fence, but past that was wide open fields, a forest, and mountains in the distance. Plus, that was just one of the drawers in his trunk.
There were doors and other ways to access the other drawers from within his manor and those spaces were used for special items. For instance, in preparation for his trip through the portal, Harry made sure he had all the magical and mundane plants he would need to make potions so he had many greenhouses and a farm.
In another area, Harry kept various magical animals used for potions and allowed them to procreate and live as they see fit. He gave them plenty of room. The environments were fully controlled so the animals could thrive in their own area.
He also had lots of pasture land where he raised cattle for beef. He discovered he loved steak so wanted to make sure wherever he was going he wouldn't have to go without. He had another area for sheep, an area for pigs, and an area for chickens.
Four house elves, Toby, Tizzy, Goby, and Milly, came with him in his trunk and they maintained everything in his trunk spaces along with taking care of Harry when he needed it.
The acromantula colony was well controlled by the elves so they didn't get out of hand. So were the dragons, but he only had four pairs of those, however the pairs were all mated. He had two Ukrainian Ironbelly dragons, two Romanian Longhorns, two Peruvian Vipertooths, and two Hungarian Horntails.
Mostly the environments did the job of keeping them maintained with the elves checking and doing anything necessary as needed such as making sure they had plenty of food.
With acromantula silk and wool readily available there was no chance of running out of material for clothing.
Basically, Harry wasn't sure where he was going so he brought it all just in case. He also had the idea that if he had to build a world then he would have all the animals and plants he would need to get started.
His porterhouse steak hit the spot for dinner. Goby certainly knew how to cook it just right for him. So did Harry with his chef training but his elves insisted they do it so he let them.
After a good night's rest, Harry rose early and went to the offices of the biggest ship builder on the planet. They were named Corellian Engineering Corporation (CEC). However, there was a waiting list to be hired there. Seems nearly everyone on Corellia wanted to work for them.
Harry started to use the Force in a magical way to make sure he was moved to the top of the line for lower level jobs, but then decided that he might be better off starting with a smaller company that built speeders and transports that travel the surface of the planet.
He could then see how they compared to what Earth was creating before he left and learn the ins and outs of that technology first. Given his Force abilities and special spells he was certain he could learn quickly.
Once again, the Force gave him the feeling it agreed with that decision.
It was easier getting hired helping to make speeders. A simple Confundus Charm made the hirer believe the company should not pass up such a promising young man. Even though he had very little experience, it was obvious he would learn quickly, they believed.
Soon, Harry was an employee and working one of the lowest jobs they had. That was fine with him because he used every opportunity he had while talking with employees with different skill sets, to pull what they knew from their minds. Once back in his trunk, he integrated all that knowledge into his mindscape.
He also managed to grab additional information about the galaxy in general from his new samples.
His employers were pleased that they read him right during the interview process and he was proving to be probably the best hiring decision they've ever made. His ability to pick things up and naturally understand it all was simply amazing. Harry made a name for himself the first week at his new job and rose quickly in the organization.
Before he left that company almost a year later, with a glowing recommendation to work for Corellian Engineering Corporation, he had learned how to build nearly every type of transportation used on the planet. He knew about all the systems that made them work and go.
Also, while he was very familiar with advanced computing from Earth, he discovered how far ahead this new place was. He had a lot to catch up on in this new place. But, once again, he learned quickly as he always ran into people who had the knowledge ready for him to use.
He still had to incorporate the knowledge after he learned it in his quick manner, but that just required actively using the knowledge. The knowledge transfer plus the experience when actively using it fully incorporated the information.
Once he was at Corellian Engineering Corporation, he took it a tad bit slower as far as advancing in the company but didn't slow down on how fast he learned. Fortunately, there were plenty more people around he could learn from.
The star ships were a bit more complicated than the planet bound transports. Most of the complication came with the hyper-drive and how all that worked. Earth had not managed yet a technology that allowed faster travel across the galaxy, which is why they were still going shorter distances to explore.
Space was massive and you need an engine that will reach incredible speeds in order to cross it in a reasonable amount of time. The hyper-drive was what did that, but there were all sorts of rules you had to follow if you want to use that engine.
For instance, there were lanes you had to stay in so you didn't risk flying into a planet or a star. There was a Navi-Computer that helped make the calculations for you before you make the jump. This was good because there were only a couple of species in the galaxy that had the ability to calculate that way. Most people relied on the computer for that.
As Harry moved up the ladder at CEC he continued to make more and more money for his knowledge and expertise. He was not aware of how political the positions became until he started reaching the middle-management levels in the company, but he figured it out soon enough.
He was promoted to a new lead position ahead of at least two people he had been working with who had far more experience. He was accustomed to being promoted so thought nothing of it. He just continued to do his job and take on his new responsibilities like he always did.
He worked a little late the first few days after they promoted him so he could look over everything involved with his new position. When he left to go home, there were not many employees still around so the halls were fairly empty as he made his way to the droid controlled shuttle service that would take him back down to the planet. He would then take another shuttle to his apartment.
He wasn't really paying attention to his surroundings when he was suddenly prompted by the force to move to the right immediately then turn around to face his attackers.
Having learned to trust the force, he did exactly that. Out of the corner of his eye he saw and felt two blaster bolts narrowly miss him as they travelled down the empty hallway. He saw that two men had come out of an intersecting hallway and had fired blasters at him.
Harry's hand came up quickly and a wide area stunner left his hand. The red light of the spell engulfed the two attackers before they could get off another shot. They fell down out cold with their blasters clattering on the floor.
Harry walked up to them and could clearly see they had black masks on. He removed the masks and saw that it was the two middle-aged men he had been working with and was now their boss. He couldn't think of why they would do such a thing until he realized they must have wanted his job.
If they would have simply told him how upset they were instead of trying to kill him he would have moved up quicker so one of them could have the job after that. Now, they would have to pay for the crime or attempted crime.
Harry used his communicator to notify security of what happened and let them know where. He then obliviated the two men and waited for Security to arrive
Four security personnel showed up, three male and one female, and looked things over. They reported that two cameras were messed with and pointed wrong on that hallway. They discovered that issue when they checked the area reported when he contacted them.
Harry explained that they came out of the adjacent hallway right after he passed but he heard them and immediately whipped around in time to avoid the blasters and knock them out in retaliation. He had to add that he had some serious training in hand to hand combat skills before they were satisfied.
"Hey! Wake up. I didn't hit you that hard," Harry said to them as he shook them awake, but discreetly cast enervate spells with his hands while touching them.
The two men woke and corroborated with Harry's amended story since that was how they remembered it. The security personnel took the two men with them back to their holding cells and let Harry go on home.
After the shuttle dropped him off planet side, Harry walked toward home. When he reached a deserted and dark area he had used before, he apparated quietly home to his apartment.
He thought about what happened a lot after that. The two men did not strike him as ones who would stoop so low as to try and kill him, but did he really know them that well? He had noticed that competition was fierce in the company but to take someone's life just because you were passed over for a promotion? To risk losing what you have just because you feel you deserved a promotion more?
Maybe it was because there was so many beings in this galaxy on a myriad of different planets instead of one planet of people off by themselves in a protected pocket of space in the Milky Way Galaxy. Was life less important in a heavily populated galaxy?
Harry had heard of a group of people on Earth many years ago on the non-magical side who wanted population control because they believed the planet was over populated. They even tried to accomplish that through nefarious means. They were discovered though and were stopped from carrying out their plans.
In this galaxy, he found out that slavery was wide-spread in some places and very little, if anything, was ever done about it. Many people just seemed to accept it as part of life. There was even a species called Twi'lek that sold their people into slavery because their planet had no other significant means of income.
Maybe life was less important here and many brought up in this galaxy just accepted it.
This was something he would have to consider more as he lives here.
Three years later, Harry won a ship while gambling. He had grown tired of working at CEC. The further up the ladder he climbed the more cutthroat they became. He had learned enough to own his own ship and operate it, but it was going to take a few more years at a much higher salary to be able to buy one.
He had no interest in climbing higher in the company as politics was not what he cared for. Instead, he learned how to play some of the games and gambled a little until he understood it well enough.
Once he was confident with the gambling and how to play smart, he started making his move by winning more often than losing. The more he played the more he won.
He kept this up until he was invited to play for real money. This was the wealthy group that would bet ships they owned if they ran out of credits. He started out slow but did well enough to make more money and continue to play with the big boys.
There was a Chagrian, who was tall with his two horns pointing straight up, tentacles that came from the back of his head, draped over his shoulders, and ended in two brown-tipped horns. Taking all that into account, along with his blue skin, he made a pretty good impression at the card table.
However, he was not expecting to lose. He was quite shocked when Harry won his ship off him and had to hand over ownership. What Harry had compared to his was only slightly better but better still made Harry the winner and the Chagrian the loser.
Turns out the Chagrian had worked long and hard on winning that ship via gambling. He had his eyes on it for a very long time and it took many games against the owner before he finally bet the ship. Now, before he even got the chance to fly it, he had turned around and lost it to this human who had only joined them recently.
He was not happy, but there was little he could do about it.
Word had travelled in certain circles that this human was not to be trifled with. He had skills that were very detrimental to your health and reputation. The Chagrian decided he could be patient and hopefully win it back or find another ship he liked even better.
The ship Harry won was in a class called a light freighter but it was a very special ship, an Infiltrator-Class Star Courier. It looked dark and menacing. In fact it was rumored to be used by Dark Lords of the Sith. It was powered by an experimental high-temperature ion engine sublight drive system. It also comes with hidden armaments and powerful sensory and tracking equipment. The nicest feature is the full-effect cloaking device that grants invisibility upon command.
Harry was very anxious to try it out. He figured he could make modifications to it as needed. He could expand it with runes if he needed more space. Wards could be used to keep it protected better. Plus, he would have his trunk with him so that would provide all the extra space and sunshine if he needed it while out in space for a while.
Harry had bought an astromech droid so he planned to take it on his ship with him. While Harry was very versed in fixing issues with just about any ship, it would be nice to have an astromech droid to help maintain it.
He actually bought the droid from CEC, the company he worked for. He and the droid, J4-C3, had worked together for a long time and Harry had come to depend on it heavily. When he decided to leave CEC he asked to purchase the droid and take Jay with him. They basically made it part of his leaving package since he had done some great things for the company while employed there.
They were sad to see him go but they recognized he was suited for far greater things.
Harry had a plan in place after working for years on Corellia. He had gathered all the information he could and learned all he could about the galaxy at large. He even took many trips to other planets while working for CEC. Travel was required while he worked in one of the positions he held there.
He was now interested in travelling the galaxy at large, exploring all that he could.
During his stay on Corellia he had run into a few green jedi and managed to pull from their minds a lot of information. They had a natural protection for their minds using the Force but Harry tweaked his spell more and it became too much for that protection. Along with the quickness of the download and the inability to detect the intrusion, it worked extremely well.
Learning from the jedi, he was now able to use a lightsaber and knew all the lightsaber forms. He also discovered all the information from a baby to their current age everything they were taught. He sampled a few masters to get more information. Harry didn't quite agree with the monk lifestyle per se, but at the same time he found himself unwilling to fall in love again.
He supposed he still missed his Ginny and all the years they had together but he knew she did not expect him to stay celibate after her death, especially when his body was maintained at a very healthy male of 25 or 26 years of age.
That's why he dated some of the females on Corellia and even had sexual relations with them. He made sure he would not father another child during those trysts but he definitely enjoyed having sex again. He had done the same while still on Earth after he faked his own death, although it was less often back then as he was still missing Ginny more.
He even had sex with some of the non-human species over the years while in the new galaxy. One was a Twi'lek, another a Zeltron, and a Pantoran. They were all near-human and he found each one very attractive.
Harry usually kept his power hidden at all times because he now understood how easy it would be for the jedi to sense it. He even trained with a lightsaber in private and usually in his trunk. The trunk was able to hide all magic, or in this case the Force, so none of it could be detected.
He learned from the jedi mind downloads where to go to find the Kyber crystal meant for him and where to get all the parts to build his own lightsaber. On one of his travels for CEC, he went to the planet Jedha because he felt a pull from the Force.
There were a few planets with Kyber crystals, such as Ilum, Lothal, and Utapau, but only Jedha called out to him in the Force so he took a side trip to Jedha and visited the crystals there. He was able to find the crystal he needed to build his own lightsaber. When he finished it and extended the blade, two colors were layered together. The inside looked to be black but was covered by a translucent orange.
He supposed being the Master of Death warranted such an unusual combination in colors.
Having made all the changes to his ship for now, Harry was ready to leave. Using the Force, Harry sought guidance on where to go first.
