We cut to Robert and Hopper in a squad car. Robert looks around at the utterly empty streets of the town. Robert asks, "What happened?" Jim replies, "You don't want to know." Robert responds, "You can tell me, I've seen worse." Jim replies, "No, I don't think you want to know." Robert asks, "Have you ever seen a concentration camp, with nearly skeletal people barely clinging to life? Because I have." Jim replies, "Alright then." He tells him the events of Season 4 all the way up to now. Robert responds, "Jesus. Anyway, I honestly wonder if Jane will accept me. She's never met me before." Jim reassures, "Don't worry Robert. I'll make sure she understands."

They arrive at the house the gang resides in. Robert rings the doorbell. Eleven cautiously opens the door. She hugs Hopper. She asks him, "Who is that?" Robert replies with a warm smile, "I figured my rugged good looks would tell you. My name is Robert Ives, and I'm your father Jane." Eleven hesitates, and then says, "What?" She continues, "I've never met you a day in my life. If you are my father, why do you show up now? You look too old to be my father anyway!" Robert smirks, "Haven't heard that before." Eleven continues, "And besides, why should I believe you? Are you here to take me away… again?" Robert replies, "No, I'm here to make sure my daughter is alright and safe, and that checks out. Also, I've been trying to find you for 18 years, but couldn't. I know about Martin Brenner, or, 'Papa.'" Eleven snaps, "Don't you dare say that name to me! I've put him behind me 3 years ago, and I'm not about to have an old man address his name to me! Get out of this house!" He uses her powers to throw Robert back about 25 feet, nearly knocking him out, but he's surprisingly tough for his age. He grabs his skull in pain and says to Hopper, "I birthed that? What the hell?" Eleven slams the door in Hopper's face. She eventually lets Hopper in.

Hopper asks her, "What are you doing?" Eleven replies, "You believe him? I thought you were smarter. Do you truly believe him?" Hopper responds, "Yes. Yes I do. I'm going to go talk to him."

He walks outside to Robert, who's still grabbing the back of his skull in pain. Jim helps him up. Robert yells, "Why didn't you tell me she could do that!" Jim replies, "I didn't plan on her doing that! I'm sorry!" Robert angrily says, "You could have at least told me to wear a helmet you asshole!" Jim asks, "What if we took a paternity test?" Robert calmly replies, "Oh. That's actually not such a bad idea."

Jim comes inside, telling Eleven about the idea of a paternity test with Robert. After some coercing, she agrees.

The next day, the results arrive in the mail. She reads them to the letter, and sure as can be, they are positive. Robert is indeed her biological father. She doesn't know what to do, as the only father figure she knew was Hopper. She still is iffy on trusting Robert, but Hooper assures that their bond would strengthen over time.

We cut to the ruins of downtown Hawkins. It's a horrific scene. The attack has killed dozens, and the number of casualties is only expected to rise. Eleven sees this on TV, and is immediately transported into the Void, where she comes across the false Eleven once again. She says, "You are a disgrace.", all while laughing maniacally. The real Eleven grabs her head, kneeling down screaming, "Stop it! Stop it I said!" The false Eleven continues, "You are a puke. You are the lowest form of life on Earth. You are not even a human being. You are nothing but a piece of shit! That's what you are you harlot!" She wakes up from the vision, sweating profusely. Robert takes notice and asks, "Darling, what's wrong?" Eleven explains, "I've been having nightmares, visions of horrible things. I can't get them out of my head." Robert hugs her, all while experiencing a WW2 flashback.

It shows him and his squadron coming across an abandoned concentration camp. One of the Jews present is a young girl, who looks a lot like Eleven. We see a de aged Robert, then a soldier, kneeling down to the kid's height. The child hugs Robert, and he hugs back.

His mind is now back in the present, hugging Eleven. In her eyes, he sees the little girl he comforted all those years ago. Robert breaks the silence by saying, "You know what my father told me about nightmares and things you are afraid of?" Eleven asks, "What about them?" Robert says, "He told me, you should always face what you are afraid of, no matter what it is. But I cannot do this with you. You have to do this on your own." Eleven pauses for a moment, and then says, "Alright then."

She goes to her room, puts on a blindfold, and travels into the Void, facing the false Eleven once again. The False Eleven asks, "Have you come to destroy me?" The Real Eleven says, "I will do what I must." The False Eleven replies, "Then you will die." They engage in a telekinetic battle, throwing themselves around, with some occasional hand to hand combat. The fight goes on for 2 minutes. The Real Eleven starts to strangle The False Eleven. This lasts for 10 seconds. Eventually, The False Eleven goes limp, and inexplicably vanishes into thin air.

She is transported back to the real world. She walks out of her bedroom, greeted by Robert and Mike. Mike asks, "Are you alright?" Eleven smirks and confidently says, "Let's go chew bubblegum and kick ass." Mike smiles and hugs her tightly. Robert asks to talk with Mike alone. Eleven leaves the room and tells him, "I know Hopper is hard on you about your relationship with her, but I'm here to say that you have always been there for her. I've heard her tell stories regarding your adventures with her." Mike asks, "Are you saying you disapprove of this?" Robert scoffs, "No. Far from it. I'm here to say that she's found the right man. You're the perfect boyfriend for her. Go get her Mike. Have fun, but not too much fun." They chuckle as they go their separate ways.

We cut to a montage of the gang planning their attack to take back Hawkins. Everyone is present. We see Steve dusting off his old nailed bat, Nancy practicing her marksmanship, with Robert helping her out, Eleven and Joseph honing their powers, Robert practicing with his old samurai sword with the skills of a master swordsman, and the others preparing their old walkie talkies.
