56. FIFTY FIVE

Rose spent the day in bed with Tilly who slept on and off, but by around 4pm she was full of energy again and clearly on the mend, much to Rose's relief.

Jack's day at work went fairly quickly and he was eager to get home to see how Tilly was, he also had good news for Rose, but he needed to stop at Mary and Luke's before going home.

He walked in to the inn where Lucy was checking some people in, so he waited to the side for her to be done.

"Hi Jack" she smiled once the residents had headed up to their room. "Hi Lucy, how are you?" He asked "I'm good thank you, how are you?" She replied. "I'm great. I have a favour to ask though…" "go on?" She raised an eyebrow. "I want to ask Rose to marry me" "oh my god!" Lucy gasped with a grin "but… I want to do it on Saturday night. I want to take her out for a meal then head home and propose there… would you mind having the girls whilst we're out? I'd like them there when I actually propose, but we haven't been out the 2 of us in a long time…" "of course I will!" Lucy grinned. "Thank you" Jack smiled gratefully. "When we get home would you mind hiding with the girls until I propose?" "Yes" she nodded "and don't breathe a word of this to anyone!" Jack raised an eyebrow, knowing Lucy could gossip. "I won't!" She laughed. "Thank you… come by about 5 if that's OK?" He asked "perfect" she nodded. "Thanks Lucy" he smiled as he left.

Jack arrived home and walked in to the living room where Rose was sat on the sofa with her arms around Tilly as she read her a story whilst Sophia was asleep upstairs.

"Hey" he smiled at the 2 of them. "Hi" Rose smiled as he leant down to kiss her "how was your day?" She asked "it was good" he nodded "hey sweetheart" he smiled at Tilly who held her arms up to him. He lifted her up and kissed her head "how are you feeling?" He asked "a bit better, I'm just tired" she replied. "Good" he said as he placed her back on the sofa so he could take his coat off.

Once the girls were asleep in bed, Rose and Jack were sat on the sofa catching up on their day's. "Oh, Lucy has said she'll have the girls for us on a Saturday so we can go out" he smiled. "Oh perfect, thank you" she smiled in response. "Did you manage to speak to your lawyer?" She asked hopefully, he nodded "yeah, he has said he'll contact Cal" "thank you" Rose leant in to his side.
