Saturday 11th September 1920
Saturday arrived and Tilly was much better. Jack and Rose had moved Sophia in to her own bedroom a few nights ago which was going much better than expected. Rose woke up early and sat reading her book, waiting for either Jack or the girls to wake up.
"Mummyyyy!" Tilly grinned as she ran in to Jack and Rose's room and jumped on to the bed. "Hey!" She smiled "be careful darling, daddy is still asleep" "no he's not" Jack groaned as he began to wake up and rolled over to face Tilly and Rose. "Some excitable little girl woke me up" he joked. "Sorry daddy" Tilly giggled. "What are we doing today?" Tilly asked Rose. "Well today we can go to the park or stay in and play and tonight Lucy is going to come and look after you because me and Daddy are going out" Rose smiled. "You won't be here to tuck me in?" Tilly asked sadly. Just as Rose went to reply, Jack stepped "we'll be back to put you to bed" he smiled gently at her. Jack wanted to girls there when he proposed so would ensure they were home before their bedtime. "Oh, OK" Tilly smiled.
"Would you like some breakfast?" Rose offered but Tilly shook her head. "I'm not hungry yet" "OK. Do you want to go and play?" But she shook her head again. "Please could you read me a story?" Tilly asked "of course I can. Go and get a book" Rose smiled as Tilly climbed off the bed, running to her bedroom.

Jack, Rose and the girls spent the day at the park before the 4 of them went home so Lucy could babysit and Jack and Rose could get ready.
—
"Right, Tilly has had tea and Sophia has been fed. They should both be absolutely fine but you know where we are if you need us. We should be back about 6.30, if that's OK?" Rose asked Lucy "of course! Have a lovely time!" "Thank you" Rose smiled as kissed Tilly and Sophia's heads. "Be good, OK?" She said to Tilly who nodded in response. "Bye, love you" Tilly smiled "we love you too" Rose smiled as she and Jack left.
—
Once they were inside the restaurant, it became obvious to Rose that Jack was anxious about something "you OK?" She frowned confused. "Yeah, I'm fine" Jack nodded and smiled. Rose wasn't convinced but nodded. "So what's the special occasion?" She asked "what do you mean?" He asked. "Well, just the 2 of us coming out?" She said, they never really went out without the girls "I just thought it would be nice" he smiled "can I ask you something?" "Sure" Rose smiled as she took another bite of her food "do you want more kids?" He asked "sorry?" She frowned confused "what makes you ask that?" "I'm just wondering" he smiled a little. "Erm…" Rose sighed, worried about upsetting Jack "I don't think I do… my pregnancy with Sophia was so complicated and risky… and the thought of leaving the girls without a mum… I don't think I could willingly take the risk… if it means a lot to you then yes, maybe one day, and I'd understand because you don't have biological children of your own… but no…" she smiled slightly at him, feeling bad. "You want more kids, don't you?" She asked, her stomach in knots. He shook his head "well… I mean… more kids would be lovely… but if it came to potentially loosing you then absolutely not. The girls are more than enough" he nodded confidently. Rose suddenly felt incredibly guilty. "Are you sure? I'd understand if you wanted to find someone who would give you children… and I wouldn't stop you seeing the girls… and-" Rose went to continue but Jack interrupted "Rose! Stop! You are the love of my life… there's no way on this earth I'd leave you. We have 2 wonderful children and that's enough. OK?" He said firmly, getting a nod and soft smile in response "thank you…"
They continued eating before Rose spoke again "sorry to bring him up, but did you ask the lawyer about Cal and the divorce papers?" "Yeah, he's said he's sent a 'firm' telegram insisting he has a week to sign and return them before the threats of exposing him begin, I think we'll have them back by Friday" he chuckled. Rose nodded "I hope so" she smiled gently.
—
Jack and Rose began the walk home, Jack hoped that Lucy had sorted the house and had the girls ready for the proposal.
—
Lucy was sat in the kitchen with the girls "OK, remember, when Mummy and Daddy come in, you have to be quiet whilst Daddy talks OK?" Lucy said "OK" Tilly nodded and looked at Lucy "why is there so many flowers?" She frowned confused. Lucy chuckled "you'll understand someday kiddo" she said just as she heard the front door open, hearing voices in the hallway.
"I wonder where the girls are?" Rose frowned at Jack confused, assuming they would have been in the living room with Lucy. Of course, Jack knew that they would be in the kitchen and led Rose in there.
"Jack?" She frowned confused, seeing all the flowers and candles. She smiled over at the girls, still confused and watched as Lucy left the room - wanting to give the family some privacy.
"What's going on?" She said, still just as confused, watching as Jack got down on one knee "Rose, you know I love you… you're the most perfect woman in the world… the perfect girlfriend… mother… and I know you would make the perfect wife, too… no one means more to me than you and our girls, and I'm so grateful we found each other again. I know it's not been smooth sailing and that we've had our moments, but there is no one else in the world that I'd rather spend the rest of my life with…" he watched as Rose covered her mouth and tears began to flow from her eyes. "Will you marry me?" He asked. Rose nodded in response "of course I will" she laughed through the tears as he stood up and kissed her. "What does marry mean?" Tilly pipped in, making Jack and Rose laugh "it means that we will be together, forever" Jack chuckled as he picked Tilly and Sophia up as Rose joined them in a hug.
