The mission was a cluster fuck. Rosalie feels like the last full breath she has taken was right before everything went to hell in a hand basket. They couldn't have been on the planet for more than an hour when everything happened. Even the air felt different right before.

She heard the gunfire before Captain Jackson radioed in and soon enough everyone was running for their lives. They shot their way through the Genii, that had decided that that was a good time to drop in for a visit, as they tried to get back to the jumpers. One Airman and one Marine were shot as they ran and all their focus went to get them to safety.

At one point, while they were running and shooting at the same time, she felt something hit her, but quickly pushed it aside. Since it didn't hurt that bad, she figured the bullet grazed her side, and besides, they had two people who were in much worse condition than she was. Their safety was first, she could deal with her scratch later. Once they reached the jumpers, and everyone was situated, she took a seat on one of the benches in the back of the jumper and leaned her head against the hull, thoughts of a hot shower and some food filling her mind.

As soon as they land in Atlantis, the teams are joined by Beckett's medical team in the jumper bay. With some help from Ronon and a couple of the other Marines, they load the injured onto the gurneys and watch as they are rushed back to the infirmary.

McKay walks back inside of the jumper and notices that Rosalie had fallen asleep. He tries to wake her, but can't. Shaking her shoulder, he starts panicking, calling her name, trying to get any response from her.

Teyla walks back inside the jumper and asks him what's wrong, having heard McKay's panicked voice. With panic now clear all over his face, McKay tells her that he can't wake Rosalie up. Teyla thinks something's wrong, but refrains from expressing her thoughts, so not to worry the scientist even more.

As Teyla steps closer to Rosalie, to attempt to wake her herself, she steps on something slick and sticky. Looking down, she sees a pool of blood right below the linguist. Now she's the one worrying. Taking stock of how Rosalie looks, she notices the woman looks pale and when she properly shakes her to try and wake her, Rosalie tips towards her.

Shouting for Sheppard, she leans Rosalie back as she tells the man that Rosalie was shot and has lost too much blood. Before she can understand what's happening, Ronon already has Rosalie in his arms and is running towards the infirmary. The rest of the team follows him, knowing that if anyone can get Rosalie to the infirmary fast is Ronon.

When they arrive at the infirmary, Ronon shouts for Beckett, placing Rosalie on one of the empty beds. The doctor asks him what happened, since he thought that only the Airman and the Marine were injured. Teyla, who is now standing close by, tells him that Rosalie must've been shot but didn't tell them and they just found out. She also adds that it seemed that Rosalie lost a lot of blood, due to the pool of blood that was at her feet.

While Teyla is giving him what little information they have, Beckett takes Rosalie's tact vest off and that's when he sees the wound. From the description that Teyla is giving him, it is clear to him that the bullet hit something vital and he needs to get her into the O.R. and fast.

Telling one of the nurses to take Rosalie straight to the O.R. and prep her while he scrubs in, Beckett doesn't look back at the three people by Rosalie's bed and just rushes out to get ready to operate on his friend.

The four people are left behind, thinking how they had missed it and praying that their friend will be okay. Rosalie had become a friend to all of them, in one way or another, and it was hard for them to see her like that.

Sheppard excuses himself and walks out to wait for Beckett outside of the O.R., thinking that there's someone who should be there. But he's also dreading having to tell him about it, since he's sure that the man will succeed where the Genii had failed.

Lifting his hand to his radio, he starts by calling Weir and letting her know what's going on, hearing tell him she will be there as soon as possible. Once that's taken care of, he makes the call to Lorne and asks his Second in Command to meet him in the corridor outside the O.R.. Lorne asks him what happened and who's hurt, his voice betraying him and Sheppard knows that this isn't going to end well.

As soon as Lorne arrives, Sheppard can see the fear in the man's eyes.

-"Sheppard."

-"Lorne, listen. Rosalie was shot and is now in surgery. Beckett's with her."

-"What? What the hell happened?"

-"We were attacked by the Genii. I don't know how she was shot. All I know is that, once we got here, both McKay and Teyla tried to wake her up and couldn't. It was Teyla who noticed the blood and told us. Ronon picked her up and raced here."

-"How did you missed it? You always check if everyone's okay as you're leaving." - Lorne is confused.

-"Rosalie never said anything about being shot or gave any indication that she had. I was focused on getting everyone out of there, mostly because we already had an Airman and a Marine badly injured."

Sheppard kept kicking himself for that. Lorne was right, he should've checked if everyone was okay. Maybe if he had done it, he could've helped Rosalie and she wouldn't be in surgery right now. There's nothing anyone can tell him that it's going to change his mind on that.

He watches as Lorne takes a deep breath and tries to calm down, leaning against the wall. Sheppard knows that if anything happens to Rosalie, Lorne will never forgive him. Hell, he will never forgive himself. All they can do now is pray to anyone who will listen that Rosalie will be alright.
