It's been a couple of hours since Rosalie has woken up and, after resting for a little bit, she is now sitting up on her bed, talking to Evan about all that happened after she passed out in the jumper.
She hears him tell her how McKay panicked when he couldn't wake her up and she felt bad for the scientist. They work well together, even if he is a bit of a diva when it comes to his work, but nothing she isn't used to. She knows how to deal with him and make him see things from her perspective before the urge to smack him becomes too strong.
Evan is telling her about one of the Marines' session in the gym with Ronon, when she sees Elizabeth and Sheppard walk in, and Rosalie knows that the time to face the music has arrived. Asking Evan to grab her something to eat, she sees him walk past the duo and greeting them before disappearing from view.
-"How are you feeling?" - Elizabeth asks her first.
-"Sore, but okay."
-"Rosalie, what happened?" - Sheppard asks.
-"Well, I felt the hit, but I figured it was just a graze, nothing I'm not used to. By the time we made it back to the jumpers, I had completely forgotten about it. Adrenaline was pumping and I assumed I was right, because I wasn't in any pain."
-"Even if it had been just a graze, you should have told someone." - Elizabeth tells her.
-"Look, I'm still relearning how to trust the team that goes off-world with me, and for the most part I'm actually a lot better in that department. But there is still some ways to go when it comes to me being able to tell the difference between what is worth mentioning and what's not. You gotta remember that I'm used to depend only on myself, specially when it comes to injuries."
-"Well, anything that makes you bleed, even if it's just a graze, it's worth mentioning." - Sheppard tells her.
-"Thanks. I know that now." - Her sarcasm makes them smile.
-"I, for one, am happy that you're okay, Rosalie." - Elizabeth says, before excusing herself and patting her arm.
-"Where's Lorne?" - Sheppard asks as he takes a seat on the stool beside her bed.
-"I sent him to get me some food so we could talk. Which reminds me, have you found anything? Regarding what we talked about?"
-"I have, but that can wait until you're better."
-"It's bad news, isn't it?"
-"We'll talk once you're out of the infirmary, okay?"
Sheppard smiles at her and leaves, mimicking Elizabeth's action by patting her arm, leaving Rosalie thinking that it has to be bad news. That is the only logical explanation for him not wanting to tell her now, right? Rosalie lets out a sigh, wondering if she will ever catch a break.
Sliding down the bed, she feels a light grip on her heart when she thinks that maybe she was right all along and Evan really only does see her as his friend and nothing more. Maybe she can tell Sheppard to not tell her anything and she can just ignore whatever it is that he might have found.
On the other hand, she knows that not knowing will make things that much harder for her and her curiosity alone will be enough to drive her insane. No, she will wait and not jump to conclusions. When she is out of the infirmary, she will talk to Sheppard and know the truth. No matter what that truth might be.
