OK, readers. Here is the 39th chapter of this story!
Now, there isn't much to say here. Things are looking a little lighter for Andrew as he and Vivian will be heading back to the Creepy Steeple this time.
Aside from that, they get through the window in the underground tunnel inside the well, they get through some puzzles, Vivian learns a bit from the shadow, they find a parrot, the lower-case 'p' and they find out what the name of the doppelganger is, and some other stuff will occur. How will things go for the two shadows? Read and find out now!
TWILIGHT TRAIL - ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF TWILIGHT TOWN:
It didn't take long at all for Shadow Andy and Vivian to leave Twilight Town behind them for now as they were just about to pass by the abandoned shed. However, just before they could get by the area, the two shadows heard that voice that Shadow Andy recognized, as he knew exactly who it was.
"Hey, what's up, Slick? Been waiting for you!" The voice of the doppelganger was heard loud and clear for both of them to hear. "I would've done this back in town, but that wouldn't have looked very good, would it?"
"Yeah. No kidding," Shadow Andy uttered under his breath. "Now show yourself you creep!"
Then just like before, the doppelganger popped out of his hiding spot and landed right in front of the two shadows. As Shadow Andy glowered at him, Vivian had to float over and get a good look at the guy. She observed him 'carefully' before she finally decided to say something.
"So... This is the one who stole your name and body..." Vivian murmured to the shadow.
"Yes. This is the guy," Shadow Andy confirmed it to be true as he nodded.
"...Hmm." Vivian then decided to say something about it. "He looks sort of familiar to me."
It was then Shadow Andy felt a chill crawl up his spine. He surely hoped that Vivian didn't figure out who he was already, did she?
Oh please. Please tell me that you haven't figured out who I am already... Shadow Andy thought in a begging tone. Please tell me that you haven't! I can't deal with you having figured it out this soon. I just can't...
Luckily for him, the doppelganger decided to change the subject and get his attention again.
"All right, can the chatter!" The doppelganger pointed towards Shadow Andy. "Here's the deal: you get your chance, then I stomp you!"
"I thought we had already been over this before," Shadow Andy deadpanned. "I still don't know who you are..."
"If you guess my real name, then you get your body and name back," the doppelganger then gave him that same keyboard that he used before. "Fire away, No-Name!"
"Fine then," Shadow Andy grumbled as he took the keyboard and decided to guess what his name was for the second time.
"Hey Mister," Vivian noticed something that was missing on the keyboard. "The lowercase 'p' is missing on this keyboard."
"I know that, Vivian," Shadow Andy informed her with a nod. "Unfortunately, since it isn't here, I can't come up with a name that does have a lowercase 'p' in it."
"What name do you have in mind then?" Vivian queried curiously.
"Oh! How about this?" Shadow Andy then went ahead and typed out the name that he wanted to go with.
Once he was done, he decided to show the name to the doppelganger.
"Is it Scumbag?" Shadow Andy retorted the guess to him.
"Wrongamundo, little nobody!" The doppelganger laughed once again as he swiped the keyboard from him for the second time. "Who'd name their kid that?"
"Gee. That would be anyone's guess," Shadow Andy said sarcastically.
"Prepare for doom, Slick!" The doppelganger declared once again.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah! We've already been through all of this before," Shadow Andy snorted as he rolled his eyes.
"Yuk yuk yuk!" The doppelganger ignored him as he then declared. "And don't even think about running from battle, hear? NO RUNNING!"
"Sorry. But that's exactly what we're doing," Shadow Andy told him sharply.
"Wait, Mister? Shouldn't we fight him?" Vivian had to ask in concern.
"No Vivian. We can't do that. He's invincible," Shadow Andy explained to her. "Until we can guess his real name correctly, we're just gonna have to run. OK?"
"All right. If you say so," Vivian shrugged in agreement with that. "We'll run away..."
With that, the two shadows ran off in the direction that the woods were located in. Once again, the doppelganger was not happy about what they had just done.
"Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww..." The doppelganger whined once again like a little child. "That's no fun..."
Despite that, the doppelganger decided to go into hiding once again. He planned on waiting for those two shadows to come back so he could continue to pull the strings on Shadow Andy and torment him further.
He had no idea what they were going to the Creepy Steeple for, and he would only find out when it was too late...
Further down the path of Twilight Trail, Shadow Andy and Vivian were glad that they managed to get away from the doppelganger for now. They were panting and catching their breaths before Shadow Andy finally decided to say something about it.
"Whew," Shadow Andy told her. "That was a close one, Vivian."
"Yeah," it was then Vivian had to comment on what they witnessed. "He must have been hiding there in ambush, waiting for you to show up."
"Yes. I already realized that the first time I came through this area when heading back to Twilight Town," Shadow Andy tugged on his handkerchief once she said that.
It looked like Vivian wanted to say something more about the doppelganger's appearance and why he looked so familiar to her. Fortunately for Shadow Andy, the youngest Shadow Siren decided to shrug it off and was planning to continue helping the lonely shadow get his name and body back.
"Well, forget him!" Vivian waved it off. "Let's go get your name back!"
"I'm with you on that, Vivian!" Shadow Andy agreed wholeheartedly.
"Great," Vivian beamed. "Let's get through the woods and head straight for Creepy Steeple."
"Wait! I just remembered something," Shadow Andy got her to stop as he dug through his backpack and took out two Life Shrooms. "We're gonna need these."
"Well, uh, thanks," Vivian thanked him as he gave her one Life Shroom. "But what do we need these for?"
"Trust me," Shadow Andy informed her. "I nearly got creamed and fainted the first time I came through these woods by myself thanks to those Crazee Dayzees. And I dunno what would happen if we run into an Amazy Dayzee..."
"Gee whiz. You're right," Vivian couldn't help but shiver in agreement. "Good thinking. These'll save us if we're cornered by those Crazee Dayzees that lurk in the woods."
"Exactly," Shadow Andy kept a grip on his Life Shroom. "Now let's get this over with, shall we?"
"Of course," Vivian smiled. "Let's get to Creepy Steeple!"
And with that, Shadow Andy and Vivian continued down the trail until they reached the pipe that led straight into the woods, carrying their Life Shrooms along the way. Needless to say, the two of them were going to go through a backtracking area to get to Creepy Steeple...
DEEP IN THE HEART OF THE WOODS ON TWILIGHT TRAIL:
As it turns out, the two shadows did need to use their Life Shrooms when they dealt with a couple of Crazee Dayzees. Thankfully, Vivian's Veil came in handy for the two of them to avoid their attacks and be able to defeat them. Nonetheless, they used them up since they felt low on energy afterwards.
It took no time at all for the two shadows to zip through the forest again as they had to do plenty of backtracking. By now, they were near the heart of the woods, where the Creepy Steeple was located.
As they continued heading for the steeple, Vivian decided to make some small talk with Shadow Andy, as she wanted to know more about him. It didn't hurt for her to find out more about him, right?
"So anyway, Mister, tell me a bit about yourself," Vivian felt like asking. "Where did you come from?"
Shadow Andy had to flinch when she asked him that. Did she want to know how she came to Twilight Town? Or did she wonder how he got to Rogueport? Or perhaps she was wondering about both, was she? Vivian felt like she hit a nerve as she frowned.
"Oh! I...I-I'm sorry," she apologized hastily in a panic. "I...I didn't mean to pry something out of you!"
"No. No. It's OK, Vivian. I suppose I can tell you how I got here," Shadow Andy felt like sharing. "I came to Twilight Town from Rogueport. But I 'actually' don't live in Rogueport. See, I had come from the Mushroom Kingdom."
"Oh... I see," Vivian mused shyly at that.
"Yeah. I live in a house not far from Toad Town," Shadow Andy pointed out. "I originally came to Rogueport to do a favor for someone by picking up a princess in Rogueport and bringing her back to the Mushroom Kingdom."
Shadow Andy then recapped how he got into the quest to look for the Crystal Stars. "But then I had to go on a quest to find the seven Crystal Stars, and my four friends were accompanying me just to get them."
"Hmmm...You said Crystal Stars, right?" Vivian had to ask.
"Yeah," Shadow Andy nodded. "'Apparently' the princess I was seeking in Rogueport got kidnapped by a group of bad guys that aren't known to the people of the Mushroom Kingdom. I've been collecting them so I can find and rescue her."
"Oh. That's pretty nice," Vivian then told him. "My sisters are also looking for the Crystal Stars. We have been hunting down this man named Andrew since he has the Magical Map that leads to them."
It was then Vivian turned around and frowned before she continued. "Though the more I think of it, the more I realize that it 'really' isn't worth getting beaten up and punished by Beldam all the time..."
"You don't say," Shadow Andy sounded like he was lying since he knew that she was talking about him. "Well, it's OK now. We're traveling together to get back my name and identity, right?"
"Absolutely," Vivian nodded as she had one more question on her mind that she needed to ask Shadow Andy. "Mister? Do you mind if I ask you one more question?"
"Sure. What is it?" Shadow Andy questioned.
"Why? Why did you help me with my problem?" Vivian sincerely asked him. "Why do you care so much about me and my problems with my sister Beldam and how she is constantly bullying me all the time?"
Shadow Andy had to ponder about this for a moment. His reason for it was something personal. And it was something that he never shared with anyone before. Not even with Goombella.
Still, since Vivian would eventually find out who he 'really' is, and would most likely leave him once she found out and would forget that he ever told her, he felt that it was best if he could reveal it to her. After taking a deep breath, he then came straight out just to tell her.
"I happen to have an older brother who used to always bully and torment me in the same manner," Shadow Andy told her sympathetically. "So I know what it's like."
"Oh," Vivian took that in as she accepted that as an answer before she smiled. "Well thanks for your concern, Mister. I 'really' appreciate it."
"Anytime, Vivian," Shadow Andy told her softly. "I was happy to help you out."
"I was happy that you helped out too," Vivian admitted before seeing the Creepy Steeple for herself in the distance. "Hey, Mister! Look! Over there!"
"Yup," Shadow Andy saw the Creepy Steeple for himself. "That's the Creepy Steeple, straight ahead of us! Let's get going!"
"All right," Vivian beamed as she followed Shadow Andy to the steeple.
Both of them had planned on going into the well first, just like what Shadow Andy did last time with Goombella, Koops, Flurrie, and Yoshiam. Before he lost his name and identity. Only this time, they were hoping to find the secret tunnel and find the one person who knows what that Duplighost's real name is...
AT THE CREEPY STEEPLE:
The two shadows had made it to the entrance of the Creepy Steeple. Shadow Andy was familiar with it as he had been through it before. But this was Vivian's first time seeing it in person for herself. Looking at it from top to bottom, she placed her index finger underneath her mouth as she observed it.
"Hmmmm... So this is the Creepy Steeple," Vivian mused. "This is the place where you fought that monster in the first place, is it?"
"Yup. This is the same place where I had lost my name and identity in the first place," Shadow Andy told her. "And now we're about to find out what that monster's real name is..."
"Of course! So you said we needed to go to the well, right?" Vivian had to ask him. "There's a window that we need to get by..."
"Uh huh," Shadow Andy walked over and pointed towards the well. "It's this well over here. Well, come on, Vivian! Let's go check it out!"
Shadow Andy wasted no time in jumping down into the well, with Vivian following right after him. Once they reached the bottom, the two shadows headed through the tunnel and were eventually right in front of the window that Shadow Andy couldn't get by earlier.
"Well, here we are," Shadow Andy showed her the window. "There it is."
"Oh. Hmmm...This is the window," Vivian couldn't help but muse at this. "And you couldn't get by here earlier, am I right?"
"Yeah. But since I have you here to help me out, I think we can get by it with no problem," Shadow Andy said, clearly sounding like he had complete confidence in Vivian.
"Uh, OK," Vivian said rather meekly, unsure of herself as she twirled her fingers. "I'll try my best."
"I know you will. I have complete faith in you, Vivian," Shadow Andy told her warmly. "Trust me."
"Awww, well thanks," Vivian seemed like she was touched by what she said. "I'll give it my best!"
"Great! OK, so here's the plan," Shadow Andy explained to her. "I'm gonna push the window up to the halfway point of the path, and then you use your Veil move to drag us into the shadows, and then we should slip by it when it goes back down afterwards."
"You got it," Vivian told him as Shadow Andy went over and started pushing the window up the path.
In a matter of seconds, Shadow Andy stopped pushing when he was halfway up to the top of the tunnel. As soon as he stopped pushing, he then turned to Vivian to give her the signal.
"OK, Vivian! I'm ready!" He informed her. "Use your Veil move!"
Vivian said nothing as she quickly floated up and approached him from behind where she then grabbed her waist and dragged both of them into the shadows. Then just as Shadow Andy predicted, the window went back down and went right over the shadow that they were hiding in.
As soon as the window reached the bottom and came to a complete stop, Vivian took that as her cue to reemerge herself and Shadow Andy back up to the surface. Once he was back up, Shadow Andy saw that they got by the window and that they could continue onward.
"All right! It worked!" Shadow Andy had to exclaim. "We 'actually' got through that window! And it's all thanks to you Vivian! Good job!"
"Oh, well, thanks. I'm glad that I could help you," Vivian said shyly as she giggled. "Hmm hmm hmm hmm... And hey! There's a door right there!"
Shadow Andy found the door that she was pointing at, and he smiled.
"Well, looks like we're gonna find out where it leads," Shadow Andy smiled. "Let's check it out, Vivian."
"Right," Vivian nodded as the two shadows went over to the door, where Shadow Andy opened it up and both of them went on by into the next room in the tunnel.
Once they got into the next room, what Shadow Andy saw next left him speechless. It was another Shine Sprite that was in a clear yellow box. He felt like he was lucky to have found a fourth Shine Sprite in this steeple.
"All right! It's another Shine Sprite!" Shadow Andy claimed as he went over and jumped and hit the block, causing the Shine Sprite to fall into his hand.
"Wow. Who would've thought that that was found here," Vivian had never seen one up close before and was admiring its shiny beauty. "Wait, you know about these?"
"Oh yeah! I haven't told you yet," Shadow Andy decided to explain to her. "I've been collecting these since I encountered my first one at Hooktail Castle. I've been finding them ever since."
"You've been finding them since you found your first one at Hooktail Castle," Vivian seemed rather amused. "That's amazing."
"It is. And there's more," Shadow Andy continued. "Apparently in Rogueport, there's this wizard named Merlon who can power up partners for three Shine Sprites. Since I got here, I've collected four Shine Sprites again."
"I see..." Vivian couldn't help but admire its beauty. "It sure looks beautiful. I've never seen a Shine Sprite up close before."
"Well consider this your first time, Vivian," Shadow Andy told her with a smile. "Hey. Maybe someday if you decide to travel with me and my friends, I would 'actually' use three of them to power up you."
"You would 'actually' do that for me?" Vivian asked him with a hopeful expression.
"Of course," Shadow Andy put the Shine Sprite into his backpack with the three other Shine Sprites he collected so far. "That is if you consider traveling with me after I get my name and body back."
"Hmmmm..." Vivian had a thoughtful look before she told him. "I'll have to think about it. But I'd love to get a power-up from this Merlon in Rogueport."
"OK," Shadow Andy then pointed towards the narrow gap that they had to squeeze through. "Now that that's all set, we'll have to get by this narrow gap."
"Oh," Vivian gasped as she remembered. "That's the Tube Mode thing that you mentioned to me earlier, right?"
"That's right," Shadow Andy nodded. "Now let's enter Paper Mode. Then we spin around and we go into Tube Mode, just like we did to get by that fallen-over tree."
Vivian obliged as the two of them went into Paper Mode and spun around. In a matter of seconds, both shadows became paper tubes and managed to squeeze by the gap. They rolled through the narrow path and went up the stairs until they reached the top, which had a wooden panel over a hole that led closer to their stop.
Once they were at the top, both Shadow Andy and Vivian turned back to normal.
And that's when Shadow Andy saw the wooden panel for himself. Getting himself ready, Shadow Andy jumped up and then performed the Spin Jump, causing him to break the wooden panel, revealing a hole underneath.
"All right! Now we can continue," Shadow Andy motioned to Vivian. "Well, let's go, Vivian. We should be closer to the secret room."
"Of course," Vivian nodded as Shadow Andy jumped down the hole, with Vivian following close behind him.
Once they reached the bottom, they found out that they were behind the upper windows that were in the corridor that Shadow Andy was in earlier when he released all 200 of those Boos. After picking up a nearby Star Piece, Shadow Andy looked around and was astounded by what he was seeing.
"Wow," Shadow Andy blinked. "I didn't know that this led us to here."
"Gee whiz. This has been amazing," Vivian admitted before she saw another narrow gap that they'd have to go through. "Look, Mister! There's another narrow gap! We'll have to enter Tube Mode again to get through it!"
"Great eye, Vivian!" Shadow Andy gave her a thumbs up. "We should be one room closer to finding out this jerk's real name!"
And with that, both shadows went into Tube Mode again and they squeezed right through the narrow gap and ended up in the room that was just beyond the hole.
Once they fell through, Shadow Andy and Vivian returned to normal and observed the room that they landed in. It was apparent that this was the secret room that they were looking for. The door had a padlock on the inside, there were two brown chests near the locked door, and there was some other junk in the corner. There was a shelf with cobwebs, some jars on top, and a ceiling lamp that was turned on and shining on a stool.
On the stool was a box similar to the one that held those Boos outside the room, except it was yellow. Another box that looked identical to that box was a few feet away, but it was purple. There was a palm tree in a pot nearby too.
But the elephant in the room, perching on a wooden hat hanger nearby was a parrot. It was a green parrot with a red beak and a red cheek mark.
Needless to say, Shadow Andy and Vivian were getting a good look at the room that was around them.
"Wow. This must be the secret room," Shadow Andy blinked as he opened up the brown treasure chests.
"Yeah. There's some treasure in here too," Vivian admitted as Shadow Andy claimed both items in the treasure chests.
In the brown chest to the left was a Mr. Softener item, which Shadow Andy placed into his backpack. But in the brown chest on the right was another badge. It was a Power Plus badge, and this caught his attention.
"All right! It's another badge!" Shadow Andy proclaimed as he took out the badge kit from his backpack.
"Wait, another badge?" Vivian was confused by this. "Mister? You're just full of surprises! First I find out that you're collecting Shine Sprites. And now I find out that you've been collecting badges too?"
"That's right Vivian," Shadow Andy put the Power Plus badge into the badge kit. "I've been collecting badges in this badge kit since I started my adventure in the Rogueport Sewers. Right before I made it to Petal Meadows. My female Goomba friend 'actually' gave this to me."
"Oh. Well, that's sweet," Vivian admitted with a grin. "Sure glad that you're friends have been helping you find those. That's so nice."
"Yeah. It sure is," Shadow Andy sighed as he put the badge kit back into his backpack.
"Skwaaaark!" The parrot squawked which got their attention.
"Hmmm?" Vivian then looked and noticed the parrot that was in the room, and she informed Shadow Andy about it. "Hey, Mister! Look over there!"
"Huh? Well, what do you know," Shadow Andy blinked at the parrot. "It's a parrot. Wonder how long that Duplighost had this bird down here..."
"Yeah," Vivian had to look at it while Shadow Andy approached it. "You don't suppose that meanie has been starving this bird, do you?"
"I dunno," Shadow Andy shrugged. "Though given the fact that he's been turning villagers into pigs previously, I wouldn't be surprised if he was neglecting it."
"Yes," Vivian had to frown at the thought of that. "Hey! Maybe this parrot knows something!"
"Good point. I'll talk to it," Shadow Andy then faced the parrot and then spoke to it. "Uh, hello?"
"Good morning! Good morning!" The parrot uttered, playing an innocent act.
"Uh, right," Shadow Andy tugged on his handkerchief. "Look, we were wondering if we could ask you something..."
"Shine get! Shine get!" The parrot spoke.
"Well, you see, my name and body were stolen," Shadow Andy got to the point. "And we don't know the name of this Duplighost who did this to me."
"Shine get! Shine get!" The parrot said again, apparently not willing to speak about it.
"Uhhh..." Shadow Andy then turned to Vivian as he realized that they had to use her Veil move to get anything out of the parrot. "Vivian, if you wouldn't mind?"
"I'm on it," Vivian floated over and dragged Shadow Andy into the shadows with her.
This got the parrot's attention, as he then suddenly started talking to himself all of a sudden.
"Skrawk? What happened to those weirdos who were just here?" The parrot wondered before sighing sadly. "Aw, whatever... It was almost nice to have some company..."
It was then the parrot started revealing some crucial information that the two shadows were looking for. "I mean, no matter how important it is that no one knows his real name... Locking me up in here just because I know it... And 'making' me guard the name's stupid missing letter... No way to treat a parrot!"
"So the lowercase 'p' must be in one of those boxes nearby," Shadow Andy whispered to Vivian. "The key to get out of this room must be in the other one..."
"Right," Vivian whispered back as they continued to hide in the shadows. "You think he's gonna reveal that jerk's name?"
"We're about to find out," Shadow Andy whispered as they heard the parrot reveal the name that they were looking for.
"I 'REALLY' want a cracker..." The parrot then revealed. "Doopliss, you're a big meanie. When's the feeding time, huh?"
Shadow Andy was shocked when he heard the name that the parrot just announced.
Doopliss? Is his name seriously Doopliss? Shadow Andy thought as the parrot was done talking.
At that moment, Vivian came back up to the surface with Shadow Andy as the parrot jumped. The parrot realized that he had blown the cover of that nasty jerk.
"Skra-WAAAAAAAAAARK?!" The parrot then tried to play his act. "Uh... Pretty bird! Pretty bird!"
But it was too late. The deed was done, and Shadow Andy and Vivian got the information that they were looking for, which was the name of that Duplighost that had stolen Shadow Andy's name and body.
"Yeah. Yeah. We know. We know. Don't mind us," Shadow Andy told the parrot slyly as he opened the yellow box on the stool. "We'll be taking the lowercase 'p' with us, and we'll be on our way."
Shadow Andy took out the lowercase 'p' that goes on that keyboard that his doppelganger gave him and pocketed it before he opened the purple box and found a purple key that led them out of the room.
"Let's go, Vivian," Shadow Andy told her as he used the Steeple Key to unlock the door, causing the padlock to unlock and disappear after falling onto the floor.
The two shadows took their leave, having felt accomplished that they learned the name of that doppelganger.
Once they were outside of the secret room, Vivian couldn't help but giggle at what they had just gotten from that parrot.
"Hmm hmm hmm hmm!" Vivian giggled cutely before declaring in a teasing manner. "We heard that! We heard you, little birdie!"
"We sure did," Shadow Andy crossed his arms proudly.
"Doopliss! That's his name!" Vivian declared.
"That's right," Shadow Andy nodded. "And we have the lowercase 'p' needed to guess his name correctly."
"Right," Vivian then told him. "Now let's get your name and body back from that meanie! And we'll teach him a lesson or two while we're at it!"
"You said it," Shadow Andy smirked at this. "Let's go give him a piece of our minds."
And with that, Shadow Andy and Vivian took their leave from the steeple as they decided to head back to that abandoned shed on the outskirts of Twilight Town, where the doppelganger was hiding. Shadow Andy was gonna enjoy every second of rubbing his name in his face for sure...
ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF TWILIGHT TOWN:
It didn't take long for Shadow Andy and Vivian to get by Backtrack Central (a.k.a. the woods of Twilight Trail) when they finally made it back to the abandoned shed that was on the outskirts of Twilight Town. Then right on cue, they heard that familiar voice that they were hoping to hear.
"Hey, what's up, Slick?!" The voice of the doppelganger called out to him. "Been waiting for you!"
Here he comes... Shadow Andy thought as for the third time in a row, the doppelganger popped out of his hiding spot and landed right in front of Shadow Andy and Vivian.
Once he was standing in front of him, the doppelganger couldn't help but snicker as he had some news to share with Shadow Andy.
"Hey, Slick!" The doppelganger started. "Time to cancel your magazine subscriptions, 'cause you're getting erased!"
"I don't think so," Shadow Andy told him sharply.
"But first, please amuse me with one more guess..." The doppelganger remarked. "It 'really' gives me joy to watch you squirm in futility as you try to guess my name!"
Shadow Andy couldn't help but roll his eyes, seeing that he now knows what his name is.
"So...hit me one more time!" The doppelganger gave him that same keyboard and waited for him to guess his name.
Upon taking it, Shadow Andy put the lowercase 'p' back into the keyboard where it belongs he then started typing the doppelganger's real name with confidence.
"Oh, I'm afraid it'll be YOU who will be squirming in futility, bub," Shadow Andy informed him. "Or should I say..."
Upon finishing, Shadow Andy showed him the keyboard with his real name written on the screen above before he shouted. "Doopliss!"
As soon as that came out of his mouth, the doppelganger, now officially Doopliss, had a shocked look on his face.
His eyes were now white with fright, his mouth was agape, and he looked like he was a lifeless puppet in the body that he had stolen.
"Wha..." Doopliss uttered in disbelief. "What did you just say?!"
Doopliss then felt his 'own' world tumble before him as they 'actually' guessed his name correctly, and they must've found the secret that knew his real name.
"It can't be..." Doopliss then suddenly went and had quite the epic breakdown as he felt his world spinning all around him as he screamed.
"NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW? HOW?"
Shadow Andy couldn't help but smirk and chuckle as he crossed his arms confidentially at how he was having a massive breakdown over this. Now that they guessed his name correctly, he was no longer invincible. It looks like he and Vivian succeeded in guessing his name.
"I'm...feeling...faint..." Doopliss uttered, feeling the invincible magic fading right before him.
He had to do something. There was one last chance for him before Shadow Andy and Vivian could whip his behind right then and there.
After jumping twice, Doopliss fled straight for Twilight Town, which got Shadow Andy to raise an eyebrow and frown at this.
Several minutes later, Doopliss ran past them with a big brown sack draping over his right shoulder, and four people were seen squirming in it. Doopliss knocked Shadow Andy and Vivian onto the ground as he made his way back to Creepy Steeple.
There was no doubt that Goombella, Koops, Flurrie, and Yoshiam were in the sack as Doopliss planned on telling them that the faker that was his shadow was planning to steal the Crystal Star that he had and that the five of them would have to take down Shadow Andy and Vivian if necessary. He would tell this once they were back at his domain at the top of Creepy Steeple. That was a given...
Moments later, Shadow Andy and Vivian got back up and saw Doopliss heading straight back into the woods with that sack over his right shoulder.
"Well, there he goes," Shadow Andy said, shaking his head.
"Now it's our turn!" Vivian declared. "Let's get your name and body back!"
"You said it!" Shadow Andy gave her a thumbs up.
"Where would he go to hide..." Vivian had to wonder while crossing her arms.
"I think I have an idea," Shadow Andy concluded. "He probably went back to Creepy Steeple. Specifically, he's hiding on the highest floor where I fought him the first time. The very place that he stole my name and identity in the first place."
"OK, Mister! Looks like we know where to go," Vivian smiled. "We're almost there, and you'll have your name and body back in no time! I can see it already!"
"Well, we better get going," Shadow Andy pointed toward the direction that Doopliss ran off in. "To Backtrack Centr-errr I mean... To Creepy Steeple!"
"Sure thing," Vivian nodded. "Let's get going..."
And so, Shadow Andy and Vivian headed back to the Creepy Steeple and went for the top floor of the steeple to take care of Doopliss once and for all. But what Vivian didn't know was that once she encountered Doopliss again, she's gonna learn the truth about who Shadow Andy 'really' was. She was going to be in for a shock when she found out for herself. No doubt about that...
END OF CHAPTER 39...
Yeah. That's it for this chapter. I hope you all enjoyed it, especially since we're reaching the climax of Chapter 4.
I'll admit, I had fun writing this chapter too, especially that breakdown that Doopliss had. It was a riot. And I also liked writing the scenes that were shared between Shadow Andy and Vivian. Those were nice moments, and it was nice to see Andrew as a shadow try to bring up Vivian's confidence and let her know that he has faith in her.
One more thing I should share; notice how he shared with Vivian that he had an older brother who used to bully and torment him too in the same manner that Beldam treats her. That'll be brought up again much later on in the story.
Anyway, with that set, the next chapter will bring Chapter 4 to an end for real this time. In that chapter, Andrew gives Vivian a reassuring speech that she is special and better than she thinks she is, despite what Beldam tried plowing into her brain, they encounter Doopliss at the top floor with Goombella, Koops, Flurrie, and Yoshiam with him, and Vivian learns the truth about who she was 'really' helping.
Additionally, Andrew fights for his identity, making sure his four friends stay out of it, the youngest Shadow Siren finally decides to aid him regardless of who he is, Andrew's four other friends will be flabbergasted by what Doopliss has done, and Andrew claims the Ruby Star and his fifth partner will join him permanently. And several other things will occur. How will this go for Andrew and Vivian? Find out next time, readers!
For now, only if you like, you can leave a review and let me know what you thought of the chapter overall.
Aside from that, I have nothing else to say. So until next time, I do hope you look forward to Chapter 4 coming to a close. And on that note, thanks again for reading, everyone!
