A sheen of snow enveloped the grounds of the ancient castle sparing not an inch of the castle's exterior from it's wintery sheen. Chills shooting through Ravenclaw tower the cold air awaking every occupant of the tower. The sounds of shivering students and the chattering of teeth emanating throughout the hollow, airy tower. The beautiful arched windows were covered in a sheen of ice.

A set of argent orbs belonging to a young pureblood was grumbling about the cold, his porcelain face contorted into a grimace as the top row of his teeth repeatedly made contact with its lower counterpart, clattering.

A crow haired girl shivered her light figure becoming a target for the cold air as icy chills shot through the Ravenclaw seeker's body, Turing her blood cold, chilling her to the core.

The crow haired girl inched her way towards the common room slowed by the chills of the cold, harsh winter. Approaching the young silver-steel eyed Malfoy who sat by himself on one of the many midnight blue couches that encircled the common room. Seating herself besides the young pureblood.

"Hey D-Draco", Began the crowed haired girl through a set of clattering teeth, her pearly whites repeatedly striking against each other as the icy air shot through them.

"Hey C-Chang". The silver haired boy said through chattering teeth, returning the greeting, his breath materializing in the air in the form of fog.

"C-cold you ?" The Ravenclaw seeker asked.

"Cold", The young pureblood replied.

Whipping out her wand, a narrow twelve inch piece of Alder with a core taken from a Qilin, the crow haired girl incanted "Accio Firewood". The tip of her wand began to glow as beads of wispy white, silvery light shot out of the young Ravenclaw's wand, and a few seconds later in shot several logs. Pointing her wand at the wood, the tip of the Alder wand began to glow a golden tinge, as beads of gold light shot out of her wand, striking the firewood, the firewood igniting in small flames bringing much needed warmth to the two Ravenclaws.

"Thanks" Draco said.

Cho simply smiled at him in return.

The two were soon joined by Edgecombe who was grumbling about the cold having woken her earlier than the Ravenclaw would've preferred. Eliciting joint laughter from the crow haired girl and the young Malfoy.

After staying for several more minutes to soak in the warmth of the flames, the Ravenclaw seeker with a swish of her wand put out the flames, and sent the remains of the firewood back to wherever she had summoned them from.

The three Ravenclaws had risen from the midnight blue couch and slowly made their way to the doorway where on the other side stood the cold, concrete staircase. Planting their feet on the first step wincing as they sunk their feet into the hard concrete of the stairs.

Finally taking their feet off the final step, the young pureblood spoke "I hate those stairs".

The crow haired girl couldn't help but comment in agreement,"So do I."

Echoing the two's sentiments the reddish-brown haired girl made her thoughts on the staircase known, "Me too."

The dark, hollow classroom was illuminated by the flames from the many torches lining the ancient stone walls of the classroom. The skeletal remains of the large Wyvern loomed over the students hung from the stone ceiling by black chains.

Hoards of first and second year students shuffled into the classroom, hurriedly taking their seats.

The timid looking, turban clad, Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor began, "G-greeting stu-st-udents, t-today w-we w-ill be go-ing o-ver how to defend one-self ag-ainst vampiric attacks".

The young Malfoy seated at one of the many desks which lined the classroom couldn't help but mutter, "I'm surprised he's not afraid of his own shadow".

The crow haired girl frowned at the comment but couldn't stop the corners of her full lips from rising into a smile, and a delightful sounding giggle from escaping her mouth.

The silver haired boy's lips curled into an arrogant smirk as the Ravenclaw seeker's laughter echoed in his ears.

The spluttering Professor continued explaining and espousing upon how to best combat and even kill a vampire.

The crow haired girl whispered her voice low under the ramblings of the spluttering timid looking Professor, turning to the young Malfoy as the two Ravenclaws engaged in a whispering conversation.

The sounds of feet rubbing against concrete filled the room as the timid looking Professor dismissed the class. The students shuffling out of the classroom.

The Ravenclaw seeker and the young pureblood made their way up the moving enchanted stairs of the main castle. Standing at the bottom entrance of the Ravenclaw tower, a sigh exited the mouth of the two at having to once more make their way up the unforgiving stone stairs.

Later that evening an avian coated in a sheen of ice and snow raced towards an arched window, it's talons and feathered body encapsulated in layers of ice and snow. The owl flew in and dropped off the letter in it's talons into a young boy's lap.

The young Malfoy's eyes widened as a white, envelope fell into his lap, the owl releasing the envelope from it's talons as it bolted back through the open arched window in which it entered the dormitory. The white envelope sealed with the coat of arms of the Malfoy family. On the seal the Latin words Sanctimonia Vincent Semper were inscribed, meaning Purity Will Always Conquer.

Unsealing the envelope. The young Malfoy began to read the letter.

Dear Draco

Hello my darling I'm afraid I must inform you that due to Arthur Weasley's pitiful Muggle Protection Act, your father and I will have to make advanced preparations to and the manor and your presence would be a hindrance to our efforts, I am afraid my dear but you will have to remain at that dreadful castle this winter.

Love Mother.

The young Malfoy's silver-steel orbs pricked with tears, the young pureblood scrunching his irises shut in an effort to hold back the tears that threatened to escape his eyes. The silver orbed boy had risen to his feet making his way to the Ravenclaw common room.

The young boy's irises still brimming with tears shone with relief upon seeing the Ravenclaw seeker seated on one of the many midnight blue couches that encircled the Ravenclaw common room. The crow haired girl enchanting under the moonlight basking in the glow of the moonlight.

Hearing the shifting of the oak flooring, the crow haired girl whipping her neck around to identify the source of the sound.

"Draco," Cho began, pausing her hazel orbs widening upon seeing the tears streaming from the young pureblood's face, "What happened ?", the Ravenclaw seeker asked.

The silver-haired boy turned his head to the side his tear stained irises darting downwards to the oak flooring, not wanting the crow haired girl to see the tears streaming down his porcelain face.

"It's-it's nothing." The young pureblood said, his voice low and heavy with emotion.

"I know something's bothering you tell me." The crow haired girl insisted.

"It's my parents." The pureblood conceded.

"What about them ?" The young Ravenclaw inquired.

"They told me that they have to make preparations for some new ministry law, so l'll have to stay here over winter". The young Malfoy said bitterly.

"Well you won't be the only one staying here at winter," Cho began.

"What do you mean ?" Draco asked, raising his eyebrow in confusion.

"Well my parents are Aurors, and are on a mission, so I'll be staying here over the winter". The crow haired girl clarified.

The young pureblood's silver-steel orbs widening at this information, "I guess it won't be so bad with you stuck here", The young Malfoy said, slyly.

"I guess it won't", the Ravenclaw seeker replied, giggling.

The young Malfoy made his way to the midnight blue couch where the crow haired girl was seated, as the two sat there in the dead of night gazing up at the stars, their hands slowly drifted towards each other, her hand resting over his, a faint smile on their faces.
