The days of the winter season came and left with the grounds of the castle still sleeping beneath a thick blanket of snow. The black lake had been frozen over with ice. The wall lined torches of the castle doing little to stave off the onslaught of the Scottish winter.
Draco Malfoy had at the insistence of Cho Chang refrained from seeking out the Mirror of Erised. The crow haired girl often remarking that the elderly former transfiguration professor was correct in his claim that the more time one spends peering into the mirror the more cloudy the line between dreams and reality becomes.
Obsession had not completely exited the young Malfoy's mind, his obsession with the mirror had turned into a singular fixation with uncovering who exactly Nicolas Flamel was and why he was so significant.
The young pureblood's silver orbs widened in shock as his eyes scanned the pages of Wizarding Accomplishments of the last century, when he read Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore widely regarded as the greatest wizard of the age is particularly famous for his defeat of the dark wizard Grindelwald in 1945, for the discovery of the twelve uses of dragon's blood and his work on alchemy with his partner, Nicolas Flamel.
The Ravenclaw leapt from his seat in the library of Ravenclaw tower dashing through the doors searching for the crow haired girl with the book held tightly in his hands.
Silver-steel orbs narrowed as they darted back and forth across the common room trying to locate the Ravenclaw seeker.
Pausing as he spotted her sitting at a midnight blue couch the young Malfoy bolted to her. Cho was startled by the sudden blur of black silk that appeared in front of her.
"Chang" Draco began, exhilarated.
"Draco ? What's got you so worked up ?" Cho asked.
"I found it !" Draco declared.
"Found what ?" The crow haired girl asked.
"Nicolas Flamel". Draco said.
"Take a look at this". Draco said, placing the book down in front of her on the page he was reading.
The crow haired girl's hazel irises widening as she read, "Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore widely regarded as the greatest wizard of the age is particularly famous for his defeat of the dark wizard Grindelwald in 1945, for the discovery of the twelve uses of dragon's blood and his work on alchemy with his partner, Nicolas Flamel."
"We need to tell the others". The Ravenclaw seeker said.
"Who ?" The young Malfoy replied.
"Harry,Ron and Hermione". The crow haired girl clarified.
"What ? Why should I tell them ?" Draco said, incredulously.
"Because the only reason we know about Flamel in the first place was because we all went to the wrong room". Cho replied.
The young Malfoy simply scowled at this. The two Ravenclaws continued to discuss what to do next with is sliver of information they had uncovered concerning the illusive Nicolas Flamel, with Cho adamantly insisting they inform the three Gryffindors whilst the young pureblood continued in his objections to informing the three.
The skeletal remains of the great Wyvern hung from black chains in the ceiling of the hollow classroom. The dark room was illuminated by the flaming torches that lined the walls. Rows of oak desks lined the floors. Two Ravenclaws sat at a desk next to each other, the first had cold silver-steel orbs, whiskers the second had warm, kind hazel orbs.
The slender, timid looking Professor spoke in incomplete sentences as he attempted to explain the proper remedies to dealing with a vampire bite.
When the timid looking Professor finally ended the class and dismissed them, the crow haired girl waited until the trio of Gryffindors had exited the classroom before rising from her seat and making her way to the exit, causing the young Malfoy to raise an eyebrow confused.
Catching up to them Cho began, "Harry,Hermione, Ron, wait there's something we need to tell you."
"What is it?" The emerald orbed, round spectacles wearing boy asked.
"Come on Draco, tell them." Cho said.
When the young Malfoy remained silent, Cho tried nudging him when that didn't work. The crow haired girl sighed, and told them herself.
"We didn't find out a lot but Draco found out that Professor Dumbledore was Nicolas Flamel's alchemy partner." Cho said.
"Wait you found that out ?" The bushy haired girl asked.
"Yes" Draco replied arrogantly.
"Meet us outside Gryffindor tower tonight." Hermione said.
"Why ?" Cho asked.
"I think I've found something that'll help us." The Gryffindor clarified.
Draco remained silently scowling while the crow haired girl silently agreed with a nod of her head. The group then went their separate ways.
As night fell upon the castle, the two Ravenclaws made their way to the entrance to Gryffindor tower.
The portrait that guarded entrance to the tower opened and out stepped Hermione alongside the carrot haired boy and the emerald orbed boy. The bushy haired girl carrying a book that appeared to be almost bigger than herself in her arms.
At the muggleborn's characterization of the book as being light reading the carrot haired boy objected to that characterization earning an admonishing from the bushy haired girl.
"The ancient study of alchemy is concerned with making the Sortiarium Stone commonly known as the Sorcerer's Stone, a legendary substance with astonishing powers. The Stone will transform any metal into pure gold. It also produces the Elixir of Life, which will make the drinker immortal.
There have been many reports of the Sortiarium Stone over the centuries, but the only Stone currently in existence belongs to Mr Nicolas Flamel." The muggleborn girl said.
"That's it." Hermione said.
"What is it ?" Harry asked.
"That's what the dog's guarding Sortiarium Stone. Flamel probably asked Professor Dumbledore to keep it safe for him." The bushy haired girl said.
"A stone that makes gold and stops you ever dying !"said Harry. "No wonder Snape's after it ! Anyone would want it."
"That's ridiculous Potter." Spat Draco, continuing, "Even if the dog is guarding the stone Professor Snape wouldn't be trying to steal it."
"Of course you'd think that you're as slimy as that greasy git is." Ron replied.
"I'm the one who found out who Flamel is in the first place." Draco spat back.
"Draco, stop it." Cho said.
"Stop it ! Weasley's the second-rate wizard who's accusing Professor Snape of being a thief ". Draco fumed, storming down the steps heading in the direction of the entrance to Ravenclaw tower.
The crow haired girl cast a look at the trio her hazel orbs shimmering with an apology while she went after the young Malfoy.
