Blazing Secret
Chapter 1- GETTING A TASK
*RING*
The sound of my phone ringing was deafening to my ears. I can't concentrate driving through the dark silent cold night and having my ears burst from my phone. So, I press the brakes and slow down the car to the side of the road. After my car finally stop moving, my phone decide to stay still without ringing again which was annoying.
"Ok, great. A missed call now. Should I even call the number again?" I asked myself. I take some time to think for a second before readying myself to drive again.
*RING* My phone decides to disturb me again which is starting to annoy me now.
I hastily pick up my phone and press the green button before slamming my phone next to my ears. At first, there was silence on the other side of the line. This time I was pissed.
"Hello? Who is this?" I asked with a sharp tone in my voice.
"Hey, Rento? Why didn't you pick it up the first time? At first, I thought you were sleeping on your couch" Hearing that make me steam up.
"Do you think I would be sleeping at a time like this?! I was driving on the road, Hudson!" I shouted at him.
"Ok, Rento. Calm down. You don't need to get so worked up," Hudson tries to calm me down as I take a deep breath to calm my emotion down.
"Sorry, must be my EID flaring up again. It isn't easy to control them," I apologize before Hudson just sighs.
"Can't blame you. I can understand how people with mental disorders affect them. Not like your other hitman friends can understand that since they are mentally healthy," Hudson accepts my apology as I stop the car since there is a traffic light showing me a big red light. Then I put my phone into speaker mode and put it aside before taking out a cigar from the small box of cigars that was in my pocket. I take out a lighter from my pocket and press the igniter. A small fire glows in the car. Then I put a cigar in my mouth and use the small ember to burn the tip of the cigar. The small ember on the tip gives out a small white smoke. After smoking for a while, my mouth becomes warm and I take the cigar out and let out a sigh of relief.
"Wait, Rento, are you smoking again?!" I hear Hudson raising his voice. I knew he was a bit upset knowing I was smoking which he had heard my breathing.
"Yeah, I know that you are going to be angry but smoking is the only thing that can control my EID. Without my cigar, I can't keep my emotions in control," I explained to him.
"However, smoking will worsen your EID. So it will be affecting you even more," He gives me a fact but I ignore it. I notice the traffic light shows me a green light as I press the acceleration to move my car.
"I know but you don't get how smoking helps me control my EID," My head has a throbbing feeling because of the lecture from him.
"Maybe I don't understand how smoking helps you. But I'm your doctor here. It is my responsibility to make sure that your body is healthy. Physically and mentally. Please minimize your smoking. It isn't good for your lungs. Anyway, good luck with what your boss has to say to you," Hudson explains to me before saying goodbye.
"You take care too, Hudson. Also, were you having surgery with another patient?" I asked with curiosity.
"Yeah, that stress me out and my hands were completely drenched with cold sweat. That patient got a cardiac arrest. Luckily, my senior managed to revive him back with classic CPR. I never thought that old method could still work out so well," He answer me as I continue driving.
"That's good to hear that," I praise his statement with a smile on my face.
"Thanks, I got to go now. My senior is telling me to come and tag him for dinner," Upon hearing that, I open the window of my car and throw my cigar out.
"You gotta be kidding me," I let out a tired sigh. I still wanted to continue talking to him. It has been a while since we both have good conservation together,
"Yeah, being a surgeon is very busy. It is very normal. Anyway, goodbye, Rento, will call you next time," The tone of his voice tells me that he is a bit annoyed too.
"Bye then. Make sure that you have a good time with your senior," I say goodbye before turning off my phone and putting that aside while continuing to drive my way.
The name's Rento Finley and a good friend of Hudson Bowen. I'm a hitman working with a shady group that works with some companies to kill certain targets from their enemy company. My boss mostly chose me to do missions because I'm good at eliminating targets without having many problems unlike my juniors and maybe some of my seniors. However, some of my seniors will love to take their time in mocking my skills which makes me trigger because of my EID. Luckily, those situations will not get out of hand, thanks to the medicine which my friend Hudson created for my EID condition. Still despite those incidents, my boss turned a blind eye but I'm used to those situations all the time.
Hudson Bowen is my friend from university and we have been close friends for years now. Currently, he is a surgeon although he has some knowledge of medicine. He knows about me being an assassin and; of course, he understands my job. Sometimes, he will give me free surgery and medicine for me which is a benefit of having a doctor as your friend. He also scolds me when I'm smoking or drinking a large bottle of wine.
Despite my working as a hitman, Hudson accepts my choice. Although he doesn't support my decision, he understands why I choose this illegal job. Simply because it helps with my financial problems and I wouldn't want Hudson to lend me money all the time. It doesn't feel right at all.
After driving for so calm 10 minutes, I finally see a building that is shining like a beacon to me. As I was driving closer to the building, I take a good look at like.
It is high as a five-storey building with windows enough to count with my two hands. Then I look next to the building to see two security guards wearing black sunglasses guarding the entrance. I look away from the building to see a few cars in the parking lot with the rest of the parking empty. Maybe there could be ghosts just relaxing in the quiet dead of night. I park my car in one of the random empty parking.
After I off the engine of my car, I get out and close the door behind me. The doors automatically lock after I walk away about a few feet. As I am making my way to the entrance, one of the security guards approaches me with his poker face. He has a circle beard with a mole at his right ear that can be seen even in the dark. There is a feet crow on his forehead along with a visible wrinkle on his cheekbone. I also look at the other security guard as he was younger than the guard in front of me. He has a bland head which was weird for a young person to use that type of style. On his right ear was a small golden earring which the moonlight helps me see the earring shine up.
"Do you have any business in this building, Rento?" He asked me.
"Well, my senior told me that our boss was assigning me to another mission. I'm here to know more about the mission," I explain my business to him and he nods.
"Ok, come inside then. Hey, Jason, unlock the door for him," He nods at his friend. That guy takes out something from his collar which was a collar tag. He puts his ID on a reader machine that was next to the door. We hear a beep sound from the machine as he opens the door. I give him a nod before entering the building quietly. The hallway was empty as there were a few people just chilling or finishing their work at night. I just turn to the left before turning to the right to see the elevator. I press the button before leaning on a wall to rest myself. As I was about to let myself relax for now, someone had to break the glass of silence.
"Oh, isn't that Werran slacking off?" I hear someone saying that with a sarcastic voice. I turn to the right to see two men chuckling together.
*Great, look like I will have to bear with their trash mouth for the time being* I let out an upset sigh.
"What are you smoking now, Darren?"
"I heard that you're going to get another mission from our boss. Is that true?" Darren wraps his arm around my neck and I proceed to throw his arm aside and show him an annoyed look so he knew I don't want to be bothered. He just gives a menacing smile. Nothing I do will ever shoo this guy away.
"Yeah, so what? Got something you want to say?" I try my best to keep my cool.
"Well, you shouldn't have gotten that mission anyway. I recall it was eliminating two targets that are hard because they are protected. Trying to eliminate them is almost impossible. Four hitmen try to kill them but their bodies are found which is very scary," When I heard that piece of news, I felt my heart skip a beat for a second. "I think it is best that you should let me do so. Your skills aren't useful in this mission anyway," He was trying to make me feel scared for this mission and let him take the job.
"Darren, you don't get to decide on what mission you should get. Our boss pick me because he trusts me to complete this mission on my own. Someone overconfidently like you will have your ego affect your performance and EQ. That could explain why you have very EQ in the online test I saw," Saying that to him was good but I could feel his anger towards me. Luckily, the elevator finally opens as I quickly move Darren out of my way and enter the lift. However, that brat just enter with me and I just ignore him.
The lift closes its doors and I press a button that shows LG4 before taking out my ID card and scanning it on a reader. The button turns green as the lift starts to move down.
After a few seconds of waiting, the lift finally open up. I walk out of the lift with Darren following me. Much to my annoyance that I want to get rid of him. As we walk through the hallway, a few guards are patrolling the area but when they see us have our ID cards, they let us pass without any inspection.
Then we see a special door that has a unique pattern, unlike the other doors. There were also two bodyguards just standing there to prevent anyone from entering without permission. But when I walk towards the door, the bodyguards approach me and give me intimidating looks which were normal and I was used to those glares.
"Name your business with the boss," The guard with blond hair told me firmly.
"Well, he told me to meet him at his office to tell me about the mission that I was chosen to do so," I explained to them calmly before taking out a small piece of paper with the boss's signature. They snatch the paper out of my hand and examine it before passing it back to me.
"No funny business," They told me before glaring t Darren but he just surge it.
They back off away from us and leave us at the door. I grab the handle and give it a push as it opens up and I enter inside along with Darren joining me although I didn't want him. The room was rather big, about 6 by 13 meters. There is a big rectangular table in the middle of the large room. On the white wall are a few computers they have some pictures showing to me which I just give a glimpse at before ignoring them. But at the end of the room was a person sitting on a big chair as he was smoking with his vapour. Then he turns his chair around and looks at us.
"Ahh, Rento, you're finally here," Then he notices Darren taking a seat which raises his eyebrows. "Darren, what are you doing here? I didn't tell you to enter my office nor I didn't give you any missions for you to do,"
"I just want to hear the mission that you're giving to Rento. Just treat me like I don't exist," He blandly explains to him as he just let out a sigh before getting out of his seat.
"Fine, Darren," He turns his attention to me and touches the table and the glass on the table glows bright showing holograms for us to see. I cross my arms and get ready to listen to our boss' mission.
"This may be a dangerous mission because it seems that others that try this mission end up dying. About four hitmen individually went on this mission, but in the end, their bodies are found burned and lifeless in the forest. Here are some pictures of the deceased hitmen and they are gruesome," He moves his hand as the hologram changes with seven photos. I examine the photos and they aren't pretty at all.
Their bodies have signs of third-degree burns on their arms and legs which still have some wounds that were still bleeding red. Their clothes with obvious burn marks and some of the colours faded out. There were ropes on their arms and bodies which meant they were caught before they die. The background of the bodies doesn't have any signs of blood on the ground or on the tree trunks which only can mean that the enemy killed them somewhere before ditching the bodies in the forest.
"Not a pleasant sight to see. Do you have any info on what could have killed them?" Darren asked him.
"Well, we have no idea what happened since they work solo so we don't have any communication with them. This makes it hard what could had subdue them, let alone kill them through torture. It is weird since the targets to kill them don't even have a guard so there isn't much resistance that could have been done," Our boss was in doubt as I look at the photos closely.
There wasn't much evidence in the photos so I had no idea what could have happened. The burns on their bodies make it impossible to check if they had any bruises or injuries. The only thing I know is that they were burned to death without any mercy. However, there was one problem with that idea with one of the pictures that I notice which was giving me questions.
"However, I don't think that they were burned by natural fire," I told them as our boss was keen to know.
"You know what could have happened?" He asked me.
"The burns on their bodies prove that fire was involved in this. However, I don't think they used a flamethrower or natural fire to kill them. If it was natural fire, they wouldn't have any clothes on their bodies and they will be crisp black. If they used flamethrowers, there is a problem. There is a black handprint on one of the bodies' shoulders," I press the hologram picture and move it to our boss. He notices the picture and Darren just laugh at me.
"Come on, Werran, that could have one person used charcoal and put it on that hitman's shoulder," He was trying to debunk my theory.
"Okay, Einstein here, explain why is there a handprint that is a burn mark. By the looks and colours, the handprint probably happened when the person was getting burned by the flames. Who with a sanity mind touches the person getting burned to death?" I questioned him as that make him quiet.
"Makes sense with your theory. But even so, I need to explain the mission here," Our boss told me as I keep quiet.
"The mission is to eliminate two targets in this neighbourhood," He presses a button and the hologram gets rid of the picture and shows a nice neighbourhood place somewhere. One of the houses is highlighted yellow which I suspect is the house I need to go to.
"The two targets are two scientists. Wendel Hoff and Ermelin Heinrich. They are also married if that helps at all. These two scientists are a traitor to the company where they used to work. They were caught stealing items to use in their research which is illegal to their ex-company. Now, they are hiding here which is quite a good place to hide since this is in Los Angeles along with a neighbourhood that is next to the mountains. This shouldn't have been a problem for your seniors but is interesting how they manage to get killed by two scientists. Unless they have another person that is protecting them but we check on their relationship with people but they don't have anybody that is helping them," Our boss explains the details as Darren was looking at their profile. I take a look at their faces which are very easy to recognise in the future.
They are in their 30s with the man has brown fuzzy hair with a chin strap style. He also wears glasses for his blue eyes. The woman, on the other hand, has blonde hair with black charcoal eyes. Her smile is attractive to me but I just ignore that quickly. Then I also noticed there is another profile. I click on it at the profile turned into a boy which I take a close look at. His face resembles his mother but he has his father's blue eyes and a mixture of blond and black hair together. However, the hologram shows him to be a toddler.
"Who is this boy with them?" Darren asked our boss.
"Well, this is their son, Hans Hoff, but we don't have much information about him since he died when he was just 6 years old which is tragic," Hearing that makes me feel bad for these two.
"That's good. We can have that family come back together in the afterlife. So they should be thanking us for that," Darren adds, making me clench my right fist. He dares to disrespect their son who is already dead.
"Ok, shouldn't be a problem but need to be cautious to avoid who on earth could have caused the death of those hitmen. Can't be the next one to be careless," I told our boss as he nods.
"Good luck and be careful," Then Darren wraps his arms around my neck again.
"Can I tag along? It is best if two hitmen work together to increase the success of the mission?" Darren asked a favour from our boss which in my mind, I strongly rejected that but I beg that he wouldn't.
"Best you don't. I remember your style of killing your targets. Both of your styles are the opposite so it will cause more attention. Plus Rento uses stealth which is ten times better than just rushing in and getting attention. Remember a month ago you just rush in and almost got your ally to blow his cover," Our boss reject that which is lucky for me.
"Then, I will be going to get a flight to Los Angeles, Thanks," I wave goodbye before walking out of the room and going through my phone to get a flight ticket to Los Angeles. "Time to go back to America,"
(After four days, in Los Angeles)
*RING*
I hear the annoying alarm song again which wakes me up. The song is making me go crazy in the morning. I get up, pick up my phone, and turn off the alarm. Instead of getting out of bed, I lie on the bed to let my brain get up slowly.
"Uhh, I should change my alarm next time. This sound is making my ears ring," Then I get myself out of my bed and look out the window to get a look at the neighbourhood. It is peaceful, with no car engines making noise, and the kids getting out of their houses to play games with each other. I see an ice cream man taking out ice cream and the kids rush to him to get some. Looking at the outside makes me smile as I take a quick recap of my past.
"Sigh, I wish my childhood was carefree like theirs. Well, life can go nice or sour on you," I open my luggage and take out another pair of simple clothes for my morning. Simple brown sweater along with long trousers.
After changing my clothes, I walk out of my room before locking the door behind me with a set of keys I was given. Then I make my way to the wooden stairs and every step I take makes a creaking noise. I walk down two flights of stairs as I reach downstairs.
Then there are sounds of chatting coming and I look around to see a nice café. People are talking with each other, kids playing darts, and the smell of coffee brewing. All of this makes my mind relax now. I walk towards the counter with a smile on my face. A black-haired woman was brewing some coffee when she notice me.
"Hi, Kieron, so do you want black coffee again?" She asked me. It was a bit cringe when I have to use my fake name.
"Yup, perfect for my early morning, Leanne," However, she just giggles.
"It's already almost 11 am so I won't say early morning. More like late morning," My face turns a bit red from embarrassment as she takes out a cup of latte and an iced Mocha and puts it at a counter where a young couple comes to her and collects their drinks.
"Time for yours, Kieron," She takes a ceramic cup with an owl image before putting it into the brewing machine. The gas from the coffee floats in the air. My nostril enjoys the smell of black coffee. Then she uses some milk and a glass tube to create a white bird on my coffee. She passes me my coffee as I take it.
"Thanks, the bird looks cute," I praise her skills.
"It's quite simple. Even normal people can do so my skills aren't the best," She is flustered by my comment. I walk to a small circle table for myself and place my coffee as it makes a thud sound. Then I take a sip of my coffee before looking outside of the hostel.
The kids play tag with one another and their parents just talk with each other as they watch their children enjoy playing. Some of them bring their pets like dogs and cats and well, they are just chasing each other. Reminds me of hunting sometimes.
"So, Kieron, what are you planning on doing?" I hear Leanne asking me which took me some time to think but I did have an answer.
"Probably just walking around here. I'm just planning to relax in this peaceful place for a while before I fly back to my uncle," She took my answer which I feel a bit bad since that was almost a full lie.
"Are you and your family in contact with each other?" She is curious about it as this is making me nervous. I can't let her know my true identity.
"Well, I don't remember my father or mother. They just ditch me when I was very young which was when they were divorcing each other. My uncle takes care of me at that time. Now, I never knew where they are and my uncle doesn't want to tell me. Still, I hated them since they abandon me away," I told her a part of my story and her smile turned to concern.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to bring up your past," She apologises but I just smile at her
"It's all right. You didn't know about it anyway. Plus, I had already gotten over that situation so it didn't scare her whatsoever," I don't want her to feel sad about it. Then I take a few sips of my coffee.
"Sorry about that," Then another customer was calling her and she walks towards him quickly as I wave at her before continuing to drink my coffee quietly.
I finish sipping my coffee as I get up and put the empty cup on a small rack where there's a sign.
'Please put dirty utensils, cups and plates here'
There were already a few plates and cups stacked on top of each other. So, I put my cup next to them instead of stacking it to prevent them from falling. Don't want to have any of the utensils breaking into pieces and causing a big mess.
I walk towards the door and open it as I get outside. The sun was happily shining above the sky with some clouds blocking some of its sunlight to give us some shade. Then I continue to walk on the road as I notice some kids playing a game of basketball and I decide to observe them by sitting on a nearby beach.
Only eight kids are playing so it is a four versus four against each other with one on each team at the back of the court. They have a yellow or red band for them to identify with each other on who is the enemy or ally. One of the adults throws the ball in the air as the two kids that were the nearest to the ball jump up to catch them. The boy on my right, who has black spiky hair with freckles, manages to touch the basketball but on his fingertips which makes the ball move away from him as it bounces on the court floor. Then young girl, with short black hair, quickly takes the bouncing ball and passes it to a tall blonde boy and he tries to do a three-point throw. The ball flows through the air and hit the rim of the hoop before bouncing off.
"Ah, Leon, quickly get it!" The blonde boy shouted as another boy, who was probably the shortest out of the eight kids, rush to get the ball but only to be snatched by another girl who is about the same height as the tall blonde boy. She immediately throws it to the other side of the court as the black spiky boy catches it before shooting it to the hoop. This time, it hit the inner rim of the hoop before spinning around a few times as it falls into the hoop.
"Ok, the yellow team gets a point!" The adult who was probably the referee of this match shouted as the red team sigh in disappointment. Then another kid, who has reddish hair which was surprising since these people are so rare to see, pats on his friends.
"Don't guys, it's just the start of the game. We still have a chance in beating this," He is encouraging his friends which is what I like to hear from a leader.
"The second round is going to start!" The adult alerts them as they are ready to play again. Then he throws the ball again in the air but that red hair kid immediately bolted for the ball and smack it with his hands in the direction of the short hair girl who easily catches it without flinching. Then the tall blonde boy starts to block her path preventing her from passing to someone without getting the ball snatched from him.
Suddenly, the red hair kid rushes behind the blonde boy which catches his attention as the girl takes this opportunity and passes it to the red-haired boy. He quickly takes the ball, much to the blonde kid's surprise. He takes a huge leap and throws the ball to the hoop. It hit the backboard but luckily it was close to the hoop so the recoil hit the inner rim and fall.
"Now the scores are tied!" The adult shouted as some parents who are watching clap their hands.
"This isn't over, this time, we will win this," The blonde kid from the yellow team was trying to intimidate the red team. However, the red-haired boy just surge it.
"Well, see about that at the end," He tells him with a calm tone.
Both of the teams play a few more matches which were rather even. Although some fouls are happening in between the matches, it didn't make much difference to the match. That red-haired kid manage to do some good shots which was surprising considering even teenagers will be struggling to do a cross-shot. After they went to 5 more matches, the red team managed to beat them by 4-3 which was rather close as that blonde kid almost make a far shot which could have changed the tide of the game. In the end, both teams shake hands together to show sportsmanship before they take a break from all of that.
I get myself out of my seat and walk towards the red hair kid because there is something about him that looks familiar but I can't put my finger on it.
"Hey, kid, that was some good shots you did," I praise his skills as he blushes from embarrassment.
"Thanks, mister. I appreciate that. My dad was the one that teaches me basketball so it was easy to shoot through hoops without much problem," He accepts my compliment as I just chuckle from his red face.
"I remember when I was young, I play basketball with the neighbouring kids. I also recall I was the shortest one in the group so it was almost impossible for me to even shoot the ball into the hoop. Surprisingly, you manage to do almost a three-point shot. My eyes haven't seen such a sight before," I told him a small fragment of my past as he laughs at me.
"How tall were you? 4 5?" He takes a guess and I shake my head.
"4 4?" He guesses again but I shake my head. "I give up, are you the height of a dwarf?"
"Well, 4 1 which was below the average of a nine-year-old. At that height was impossible for me to even do a close shot. Basketball was a pain but I used my short height to run past those kids and pass it to my teammates that could make a shot which work well in my favour," I give him the answer.
"Woah, I didn't expect you to be that short. I should be grateful about my height," He sighs with relief as I pat his head. His hair was smooth and probably fluffy like fur maybe.
"Thanks. What's your name?" He asked me.
"Did your parents teach you that you have to introduce yourself before asking other people's names?" He drops his head with guilt as I chuckle so he doesn't feel bad. "It's Kieron, and what's yours?"
"Solana," He told me as I nodded.
"That name is unique. Did your parents give you that name for a reason?" Curiosity creeps onto me.
"Oh, that name means sunshine which my parents believe I was a miracle by God. My mom told me that I was suffering from a dangerously high fever when I was in the hospital. My father who is a doctor, took care of me day and night tirelessly. Thanks to my mom's love, and my dad's tireless on my side, I recover from my fever and come out healthy which make me feel thankful," He decides to tell me about the side of his story which was touching to hear. When he finished his side of the story, my eyes start to feel tears trying to come out.
Hearing his story was making me feel why my parents didn't care about me. I feel happy for Solana to get such caring and loving parents. It is upsetting that my parents didn't pay much attention to me and that I was forced to care for myself. Still, I could hold back my tears and move them back to where they belonged.
"I didn't expect you to have your painful past," It is a miracle that he survive.
"Thanks for your concern, Uncle Keiron," He accepts my concern.
"SOLANA!" Someone is shouting for him and I look in the direction of the shouting. It was coming from a woman who was his mom, that's for sure. Solana gets off the bench and says a quick goodbye to me before running back to his mom. I take a good look at her as I see her glasses. Her blonde hair glows from the sunlight and she uses her fingers to twirl her strand of hair for fun. Solana hugs her as she gives a young smile which reminds me of my aunty. I look at her charcoal eyes and when I see her face, there was a sense of familiarity. I take out a picture containing the image that I must eliminate. To my horror, this was the woman one of the targets that I have to kill. I look at her son and regret comes to me. If I kill this woman along with her husband, their son will be traumatized from the loss he will have.
*But, Rento, don't forget you have a job to do. Put your emotions and feelings aside. Your work comes first. You can't defy your boss* My mind tells me to get back on track and I clench my fist. I was used to killing people but this one was going to make me feel remorse. Not only I will kill two parents, but their child will also be suffering from the pain.
I take a glance at them as they walk back to their bungalow. I turn around and walk back to the hostel. Then I put my photo back into my pocket hole and enter back inside. Leanna was talking to other people who are enjoying doughnuts. I just pass by them and walk up the stairs quietly. I come across other people just chit-chatting with each other but as to not wanting to eavesdrop, I just continue walking up to the next floor.
After reaching my floor, I take out my keys and walk to the door with the right number as I insert the key into the hole. As I turn the key, I hear the click before turning the knob and entering my room. I drop myself on the soft comfy bed before letting out a loud sigh. Then I turn and look at the ceiling.
"Great, I got a task that may give me a lot of regrets," I talk to myself as my arms rest on my eyes. Then I get up for a while to take a sandwich which I brought from a convenience store. I open the plastic wrapper and put that aside before chewing on the sandwich. The filing was okay as my taste buds agree too but it would be nice if it was in the microwave.
"Time to get some rest soon. Don't want my insomnia to get worse," I finished the last bit of my sandwich before lying down back on my bed and closing my eyes.
*Sigh, hope this mission isn't as bad as I thought* I told myself before falling into a deep sleep.
(At night, 2 am)
I was rummaging through my bag and checking if I have everything I need for this mission. MAX-9 gun, check. Combat knife, check. Flashlight, check. Cigar, check. Lighter, check. After I got everything for my mission, I take out the keys and unlock my room door. Then I slowly walk out of my room and lock it before looking around to find the back door or an emergency exit. Good thing, there was an emergency door but there were two hallways. One of which only has the right direction. Luckily, I went right and open the emergency door without any problem and close it aside without making any loud sound.
I take a good look at the neighbourhood at night. This time, there were only a few road lights just shining. Then I look up at the sky to see nothing but to see a black piece of paper in the sky. I walk down the metal stairs before getting my combat shoes on the rocky road. Then I continue my walking towards the bungalow containing the targets I need to eliminate. There was a gate blocking my path and I look at the gate to see it is about 1.5 meters tall which I can easily see through the gate. Nice, makes my job of entering easier.
I use my hands to pull myself up which was a bit difficult since I also have my bag which makes a total good weight of 50kg which isn't good for me. My strong arms will struggle to carry that much weight. So I take my bag to the other side and let it go, letting out a sound of 'thump' which was still loud for a light sleeper. Then I get myself up over the gate but it took a bit of effort before I could get over the gate. Still, I make a bit of sound when I land on the ground so hopefully, nobody heard that.
I quickly make my way to the front door. I open my bag and take out a small case containing a few lock picks I always used. I take out two small things and start to meddle with the door knob but quietly as possible. It wasn't easy, I did a few turns of the lock picks but it was hard to know the pattern of the knob. The worse part was somehow, one of the lock picks breaks, which fair enough had been with me for more than five years so that must have been damaged badly. Still, I continue pick locking it and after 10 minutes, the doorknob finally makes a sharp sound as I open it slowly.
The house was a bit dark but someone left the kitchen light on for some reason. I slowly walk my way upstairs as I see 3 doors. I slowly open one door as it is the master bedroom. Then there was a bed with two people sleeping as I knew who they are and they are the ones that I need to eliminate. I leave the door open as I open the next door which was the opposite door I have opened.
When I opened it, the street light tell me that the room here was red-brownish. There was a red bed with Solona sleeping soundly. My lips turn into an upset look as I knew what I had to do. I walk in between the hallway and take out another thing in my bag. A flammable liquid which I was going to burn the place down. I open the cap of the bottle and I start to pour the liquid around the bedroom slowly. Then I pour more into the kid's room along the stairs so I could burn the house quickly. I continue to do this in the living room as the bottle of liquid runs out which I put aside on the sofa. Then I take out a cigar and light it up using the lighter which I take a quick smoke to calm myself down and get rid of my sad emotion.
After taking about 10 seconds of smoking, I was ready to throw the cigar into the flammable liquid on the ground. But as I was about to do so, something rush to me and smack my hand which resulted in me dropping the cigar. I can't see who hit me as it kicks my right leg so hard as I fall on my knee. He stops attacking me and stomps my cigar down. It seems to be the size of a kid and it seems to be a boy. He then punches my head so hard as I hit the corner of a coffee table.
My back and legs are in pain as my consciousness fades away and my eyelids close down. It didn't take long for me to knock out.
