A/N: This is a work of fiction using the characters from Harry Potter that are trademarked by J.K. Rowling.

Harry sat at the window of the broken-down house on the small rocky island. The musty, salty air from the sea spray leaked in through the window and it reminded Harry of Seaweed. The rain pelted against the glass so hard that he couldn't sleep.

A loud snore could be heard from the couch, and it was obvious that Dudley didn't have the same problem as Harry.

The storm outside continued to grow and the wind whistled. He heard the whole house creak and shake when the wind hit, and Harry was sure that it was only one good gust away from completely toppling down.

He wrapped his forest green blanket tighter around his shoulder to stave off the cold, but the numerous holes didn't help. His stomach grumbled from hunger and his throat was parched. As the minutes ticked by it seemed as though this was to be his worst birthday yet. He would much rather be back at home cooking breakfast for his family. It was a miserable existence but at lease he was warm.

Harry heard a loud crash outside and he figured that this was it, the house was finally about to collapse. But that didn't happy. The shack shuttered because of the howling wind and the loud thumping outside grew in volume. Harry pushed himself back from the window and looked towards the front door. Someone was knocking and before he could make a decision on what to do the door fell off it's hinges and crashed to the floor.

Harry sat on the floor in front of the fire, the warmth seeped into his bones, and he finally relaxed. His belly was full, and he was finally feeling sleepy. He looked over at the half-eaten cake and felt a craving for something sweet. He swiped his finger through the green and pink frosting and stuck the sweet treat in his mouth. He closed his eyes in pleasure, unsure how long it had been since he had tasted something sweet. The Dursleys normally didn't allow him such small pleasures. Those were reserved for Dudley.

"You should get some sleep, Harry. Got a busy day ahead of us," Hagrid's voice rumbled.

"Alright," Harry nodded. He wandered back over to the window where he had dropped his blanked and picked it up.

When he turned around, he saw that Hagrid had placed his jacket down on the ground to make a small makeshift bed for and Harry wondered if this is what having a friend felt like. If so, he liked it.

He settled back down on top of Hagrid's jacket and in front of the fireplace and draped the forest green blanket over top. It was stilled littered with holes, but the roaring fire provided enough heat that it wasn't a problem. Harry drifted off to sleep, happy for the first time in a long while and excited for the new friendship with the gentle giant that had come to rescue him from this broken down shack on a rock by the sea.
