The various government officials that comprised the HPSC gathered before a projection screen. The video had paused, showing Midoriya's blurred face as he flitted in front of an oncoming truck.

"The boys in the lab say he clocks in at about a hundred kilometers an hour," the presenter said, "Based on the distance traveled and the framerate of the camera. The video quality isn't great, but with multiple sources to rely on, the margin for error is-"

A balding official cut him off. "No need for details. Just tell us what we know about this kid's Quirk."

The presenter shrugged. "Super speed, super strength, and what appears to be flight."

"Appears to be?"

The presenter hit a button. Frame by frame, zoomed in on Izuku's foot, it showed the moment he kicked off of thin air.

"He's kicking off of the air itself? Seems straightforward, then, just a mini All Might."

"Yes, but that still leaves us a few questions." Two pictures appeared side by side on the screen. "On the left is Midoriya's yearbook picture, taken about two weeks ago. The right is the mugshot taken by Musutafu police."

The two pictures looked like entirely different people. The Izuku of two weeks ago had hunched shoulders, downcast eyes, and a soft face lined with baby-fat. The more recent picture showed a straight back, piercing eyes, and a face sculpted by hardship and the elements.

"Nezu figured this out already," one official said. "That rat knows something, and he's stonewalling our attempts to find out."

"Whatever it is," another politician pointed out, "It caught Nezu off guard as well. Why else would he rush over in person to take custody of him?"

"Hawks reported that All Might was there in his civilian appearance. That can't be a coincidence, not with Nezu hiring him this year."

"But what are we missing? Could it really be that strange car?"

The Chairman of the HPSC rapped his fingers on the table. He stared at the twin faces of Izuku Midoriya with a troubled frown. So many questions, so little information, and yet another card in Nezu's hand to turn against them. Every year, the rat eroded at their influence, and the Chairman refused to allow it.

"Make overtures towards the Hatsume girl," the Chairman said. "Go through Detnerat and offer her a lucrative internship. Even if she can't share the schematics, she can tell us about the device. As for Midoriya, we can always have Hawks or Endeavor offer an internship, but I think we all know whose offer Midoriya will take."

The Chairman let the weight of that silence hang over the room. As much power as the HPSC commanded, even they couldn't stand against the nation's number one hero. And with him firmly in Nezu's pocket, with a likely successor as well, they had to act fast to maintain their position.

"As useful as the boy might be to us, we can't allow Nezu to have him. Bribes, blackmail, threats, legal action, whatever it takes. Either he will work for us, or we will destroy his career before it even begins. After all, with All for One out of the picture, it's not like we actually need another pillar like All Might."

All for One frowned as he considered Doctor Gyudai's words. Though he lacked the eyes to see the grainy video footage, he suspected that he would have no better a picture of the situation if he could still see.

"And you are positive the child was Quirkless before this mishap of theirs?"

"Quite. I did the test myself. Could've called it on the pinky toe, but the mother insisted on a full workup. They always do."

"And now…"

"He can jump on air, move at superhuman speeds, and lift a truck. Between that and All Might hiding in the crowd, I think we found the next One for All user."

All for One mulled over everything he knew. Midoriya had applied to U.A., U.A. was hiring All Might this year, and when Midoriya got into legal trouble for public Quirk usage, Nezu swooped in to clean up the mess. It all lined up so perfectly, and yet, the ancient villain felt as though he was missing something.

"But to have that level of control, so young, takes years of training. Did we really miss it somehow?"

The doctor shrugged. "Quirkless kid like that can easily fly under the radar. Nobody misses them."

"But surely he would have slipped up before now." All for One tapped his fingers together and asked, "This car. You say it teleported?"

"Yes, though it malfunctioned and left them a mile in the air."

"How fortunate it was that the next One for All wielder was in there to catch it."

The doctor frowned. "Why would they put the next wielder in an experimental teleporter? That sounds way too risky."

"Exactly. There's something we're missing. Something important."

"What, you mean about the car?"

"Yes. Describe every detail of it."

The doctor shifted uncomfortably. "Well, it's white. Boxy looking, and pretty long. Oh, and the doors swing up for some reason."

All for One twitched. "The make of the car. What is it?"

"I - I don't know. I don't study cars."

"Is it a DeLorean?"

The doctor typed into his phone. "It is! How did you know?"

All for One suspected that few people still remembered 20th century culture, but particular films were still part of the zeitgeist as the first Quirks emerged. The idea of time travel made him uneasy. Had they gone to the future, and unveiled his plans? Or had they traveled back, and changed history? Would he even remember if they had meddled with time?

Two things were clear to All for One. He needed to know which way they had gone, and he needed that machine.

"We will have some new priorities during the attack on U.A.," All for One announced. "First, investigate everything you can about the DeLorean, but don't take it yet. We need to catch that rat off guard."

"Couldn't we have Kurogiri take it?"

"Too risky. Also, our target is no longer All Might. His time has passed." All for One stared at the grainy video footage he couldn't see and said, "I'd much rather nip this new hero in the bud."

"Well, Vegapunk?" Fleet Admiral Sengoku asked. "I trust you received the footage."

"And the schematic, and your notes on the pirates involved, yes." Vegapunk stroked his chin. "Based on all the information you have collected, I have deduced that Midoriya and Hatsume are both from another world entirely. Judging by the mode of transportation their machines use and the difficulty they had employing them here, they likely have a lot more land than-"

"Enough." Sengoku sighed and took some heart medication. "Right. Another world, technologically more advanced than ours and with unilateral access to our world. On top of that, the first to travel here we know of immediately falls in with Gold Roger."

"Don't be so quick to judge a whole world by one individual," Vegapunk chided.

"But they're still not going to fall into line if we come knocking."

Vegapunk shrugged. "I assume you wish for me to replicate this machine? I'm afraid it won't be that easy."

"You have the schematic."

"For only half of it." Vegapunk tapped a finger on the wrinkled parchment. "And the least important half, at that. Whatever caused the space-time distortion that allowed them to cross dimensions certainly didn't come from a humble combustion engine."

"What do you need?"

"Ideally? The other machine. Of course, there might be certain Devil Fruits that can replicate the effect. Bring me any that affect space or time in any way."

"We'll get you whatever Devil Fruits we can, and I have a few ideas to get the machine. I expect a working model of that blueprint within a week."

"Harsh as ever. Consider it done."

The transponder snail feed went dark. Sengoku leaned back with a sigh and called for Aokigi. The room's temperature plummeted as the Admiral strode in.

"You rang?" Aokigi asked.

"I trust that Fire Fist Ace has been escorted to Impel Down?"

"Locked up tighter than a ship stranded on ice."

"And no one knows he's currently there, correct?"

"Assuming the Blackbeards hadn't blabbed, yes."

Sengoku weighed the threat of the Whitebeards against the threat of an unknown, technologically superior world that sympathized with pirates. "Make sure that information leaks to the Straw Hats, and have Impel Down ready to receive them."

Aokiji's eyes darted to his face. "Are they really that much of a threat?"

"They have something that we need to get our hands on at any cost." Sengoku fished rice crackers out of his coat and nibbled on one. "While they no longer have it, I'm willing to bet that they will either trade it for their captain, or attempt to use it to rescue him. And Aokigi, I don't care if the Straw Hats escape, or if Whitebeard flattens Marineford. We must acquire the machine that opens the way to other worlds at any cost."

A/N: I have good news and bad news.

The bad news is, as you see, this story has come to an end.

The good news is, Izuku and Mei's Totally Bogus Journey already has the first chapter out. I had initially planned to continue this story into the MHA universe, but for the last big story I wrote, I regretted not splitting it off at a convenient spot. Doesn't get much more convenient than going back to the original universe, eh?

So, if you enjoyed this story, it continues in Izuku and Mei's Totally Bogus Journey. Here's hoping ffnet doesn't remain broken or I might have to move to AO3.

And the real bad news is, bombarding the site with reviews hasn't fixed the problem. Nevertheless, I appreciate the effort and the reviews.

Delphinous: "normally i prefer crossover isekai stories where the isekai-d people stay in the other world, but i think you've done a wonderful job of giving mei and izuku some very interesting new tools to use in their world, and it's going to be a lot of fun to see izuku with haki and electricity devil fruit powers instead of an actual quirk. also, it begs the interesting question of if izuku can teach other people things like geppo, which are, in theory, a purely physical skill, unlike haki that has both a willpower component and some level of 'natural aptitude' where some people just might not possibly be able to learn it. or if being in the one piece world somehow allowed him to learn it but it's not a transferrable or trainable skill in izuku's world.

Bardothren: all very excellent questions which do have answers I'm not spoiling yet. As for staying in the other world, it's not like they can't go back whenever they please. ;)

Draco: "I just ask that you don't give one for all to Izuku, it would be useless for him"

Bardothren: Izuku, with OFA and Rumble Fruit – "Unlimited Power!"

Look, if I didn't give it to him in Precognition when he had far more reason to take it, I am certainly not giving it to him here.

Well, hopefully I see you all in the next story! And hopefully it isn't consigned to the ffnet backrooms languishing in programming hell.
