Part III

Finally…
The game began without a hitch, and by the end of the first quarter, Denver was up by ten points. The Team had reverted to their playoff ways of playing from behind. Luckily, there was a still a lot of football to be played.
Olivia's nerves were always on edge during Fitz's games, but today the stakes were higher. Again, she sat between Constance Grant and her mother, and Maya Pope, sensing her daughter's nervousness, held her hand. By the time halftime began, the score was seventeen to three, Denver. Olivia couldn't enjoy the halftime show because she was so nervous and worried for Fitz.
The Team was down fourteen points and at the start of the third quarter, Fitz went to work. His play seemed to snap the rest of the Team out of their first half fog because everyone stepped up their game. At the end of the third quarter, Fitz had thrown two touchdown passes but Denver had also scored so the Team was still down by three points. The tension was high between the two teams and several scuffles had broken out. Atticus and a Denver player had both been ejected after a late hit on Fitz to the head. Atticus had slammed the guy to the ground and stomped his groin. Luckily, Fitz had only sat out one play. Denver tried to run down the clock with each possession when it became obvious the Team defense, hyped up by the ejection of their co-leader, wasn't allowing anymore points.
As the clock wound down, Olivia closed her eyes. Her mother nudged her. "Open your eyes, baby. Watch Fitzgerald work his magic." She leaned closer and whispered. "You will hate yourself if you don't watch him win this game. Now come on."
Her mother was right. With less than thirty seconds left in the game, she braved watching her man, with bated breath, as he threw to the end zone with the Denver defense surrounding him. Fitz went down hard as Jake Maddox, who'd managed to break away from a defender, caught the pass and tapped both feet near the pylon in the end zone before falling out of bounds. The crowd went wild, and everyone in the suite jumped to their feet screaming, and hugging each other.
Jake dropped the ball and ran to Fitz, who had sat up to see the outcome of his Hail Mary pass. The Team all ran onto the field and piled onto Fitz. Olivia screamed out of fear that they would hurt him, but before she totally lost her mind, he jumped up in the midst of their celebration, removed his helmet and tossed it across the field.
There was pandemonium in the suite and when security showed up to escort Olivia and Fitz's parents down to the field, she hugged almost everybody before quickly following them, leaving wild scene in the suite behind. When they made it onto the field, she hugged several friends before taking Constance's hand and searching for Fitz. There were people everywhere and the steady stream of thick, falling confetti made it almost impossible to see.
Olivia finally spotted the love of her life. He was surrounded by cameras and reporters. She smiled, unable to stop the tears from flowing. He was so happy. She and his parents stood nearby watching, allowing him to have his moment. It wasn't long before she saw him running toward her with the cameras following behind him. She met him halfway and he lifted her in his arms.
"Congratulations! You did it! You were fantastic, baby!" She had to practically scream because the noise was so loud. Fitz walked them away from the cameras, and his parents.
"Marry me."
Olivia's eyes widened and she wondered if she had heard him correctly over the noise.
"What?"
"Marry me."
The cameras were giving them their space for what seemed like an intimate and private moment between the couple. Fitz ignored them all and kept his eyes focused on the beautiful woman in his arms.
He hadn't really planned to propose on the field but the moment just seemed right. He'd read that Christmas and Valentine's Day were the most popular days to propose, and of course Christmas was her favorite time of year, but it was ten months away and he didn't want to wait another day to ask her. He didn't even have her ring with him, but in this moment it didn't matter. It was all about Olivia, and no one else. No one else could come close to giving him what she did; in every way, every day, just by being the woman she was.
Olivia cried in disbelief that Fitz was proposing to her on one of the biggest nights of his life, the night of the Super Bowl. Yet he somehow managed to think about them both.
"I wanted to do this in a really romantic way, you know sweep you off your feet. But grand gestures have never really been our thing." He knew being the center of attention made her feel uncomfortable. Fitz grinned and wiped her tears before kissing her forehead. "I can't take it back. I love you more than my life and I can't possibly live without you. I want to share my whole life with you, make some beautiful babies, take care of you and make you happy. So you have to marry me, Livvie. You're mine."
Olivia kissed him softly. "And you're mine."
"You still haven't answered my question. I love you, Livvie. Will you marry me?"
"Yes, yes, yes," she said before placing kisses all over his face, and then hugging him.
She'd spoken the words that would change both of their lives forever.
Fitz lifted her in his arms again, and held her for a moment, then he lowered his head and kissed her long and deep with all the passion and desire he felt for her. Even though they were surrounded by thousands of people, it was just the two of them in their own world. Finally, he placed her on her feet and they rejoined the celebration going on around them.
Fitz hugged his parents, who couldn't hide their pride. Olivia was still speechless and stunned after Fitz's marriage proposal, and didn't say a word. She didn't have a ring, but that didn't matter. What was important was they were in love and they were getting married.
He'd been right, it definitely wasn't the way she'd imagined his proposal. It wasn't a candlelit room with wine and roses, and Fitz down on one knee. But it was exactly right, and what she felt at the moment was complete and utter joy.
They stood together on the field talking until Fitz was called onto the stage for the Lombardi Trophy presentation. He joined the NFL Commissioner, Team owner, coaches and his teammates. The commissioner said a few words before handing the trophy to the Team owner, who held it high above his head to the thunderous applause of those fans still in the stadium.
After a few brief words, Coach Fauci kissed the trophy and set it back down. The commissioner then spoke more words of praise about the Team's amazing season before announcing the Super Bowl MVP.
Olivia didn't hear much over her prayers for Fitz.
"The game's MVP had an incredible regular season, and some huge playoff moments, leading his team from behind to victory in dramatic fashion. His performance tonight capped off what was the greatest passing season in NFL history. He came back from an injury in the divisional playoff game to play in the NFC Championship game. He didn't just maintain his level of play in the post season, he surpassed it.
To no one's surprise he called Fitz's name. "The MVP award goes to Fitz Grant, who exemplified what it means to be a leader."
He had been smiling but seemed relaxed about the award, as if it didn't matter. And it didn't. He'd already won league MVP, the Super Bowl and Olivia Pope's heart and hand. What more could be possibly want?
Fitz's teammates and the fans went wild. It was obvious they all agreed with the choice. He stepped up to the commissioner and shook his hand, then looked down into the crowd at his beautiful fiancée who was crying tears of joy. Finally, he stood in front of the microphone with his arms across his chest, fighting back tears.
"Wow! This is crazy! I can't believe we just won the Super Bowl. We set a goal way back in July at the beginning of training camp to be here on this night," he hoisted the trophy in the air, "and here we are, Super Bowl champions!" The crowd cheered again. "I'd like to thank this great organization who got us the missing pieces to make this incredible run. Our coaching staff; Coach Fauci, thank you for all you've done for me and the team. You are an incredible man and coach, and it's been a privilege playing for you. To our team physicians and trainers who worked tirelessly all season to keep us healthy." He took a deep breath, overwhelmed by emotions again. "I want to share this award with my teammates, because without them, I wouldn't be here tonight." His teammates cheered behind him. "Also, my family, my parents. You guys are so incredible." He smiled at Constance and JR and then pointed up to the suite where everyone jumped and screamed when the camera panned up to them.
Fitz then looked back Olivia. "I have the best team and family, but if it wasn't for this special woman…" He took another deep breath. "She is the reason I fought so hard to be here and the reason I breathe. I love you, Livvie."
I love you too, she mouthed and blew him kisses. She was so overwhelmed. This was the third time he'd told the world how he felt about her, and now he was going to be her husband. He kept his eyes on her until an analyst walked up to conduct a brief post-game interview.
"Fitz, what a finish! The first question to you is an easy one. You're the MVP of Super Bowl fifty-six, where are you going?"
"De Marco, this is something I've wanted to say my entire career. I'm going to Disneyworld!" The crowd around him laughed and cheered.
"This wasn't your game in the first half. What was Denver doing that was preventing you from being aggressive and getting downfield?"
"Well Denver has an amazing defense, probably one of the best I faced this season. We weren't executing at a high enough level and when you play defense like that, you have to bring your best. We weren't successful in the first half but I'm just glad the team kept fighting and we found a way to win in the end."
"This is just an unusual way to win football games. You had to come from behind in each playoff game and the Super Bowl. You turned it on in the fourth quarter. What is it about this team that allows you to do that?"
"Oh man, it's this team. We have heart. From the first day of training camp we set a goal and we never gave up, and we fought to the end."
"Well congratulations to being both league MVP AND Super Bowl MVP, Fitz."
"Thank you, De Marco."
Fitz held up the Lombardi Trophy. "D.C.! We did it!"
After the award presentation was over, Fitz returned to the field and to Olivia.
"Livvie, I don't want to waste time showering here, when I can shower with you at the hotel." He reached out and wiped her tears. "I'm not going to any parties because we have to celebrate winning the Super Bowl and our engagement…privately." He smiled at his love and she returned it, wrinkling her nose.
"We have all night for that, Fitz, and you smell. Ugh! I can't wait for you to shower. Trust me, I'm not going anywhere."
Fitz laughed before taking her hand and following his parents, T.C. and Ty toward the tunnel, and their future.

Afterparty…
Fitz and Olivia went back to her hotel as planned, after he showered, so she could change clothes. Coach Fauci had asked all players to attend the post-game party at American Airlines Arena. She'd convinced him that they'd make an appearance and leave. He was MVP and he had to celebrate with his teammates. Plus she knew she'd be blamed if he didn't attend.
Olivia had quickly changed into a classic strapless, body hugging little black dress, with a dramatic v-dip neckline, and sky high black Louboutin strappy sandals. She'd pinned her hair into a messy high bun and touched up her make-up, before joining Fitz in the living room again. He was handsome, as usual, in a steel gray suit, white shirt and no tie. They stood staring at each other before Fitz reached out his hand and they left the suite.
The Team's Super Bowl after party was exclusive to their guests, family and VIPs. Fitz's and Olivia's parents didn't attend but the family would be getting together for brunch Monday morning, before everybody left Miami. Fitz and Olivia would be heading to Orlando on Tuesday for his MVP parade at Disneyworld.
Julian, Joey, Harrison and several of Fitz's cousins were also in attendance. T.C. was going with Ty, which bothered Fitz. He did not want to party with his little sister.

When the couple entered the venue, Fitz eased an arm around Olivia's waist and that's where it remained as they walked around greeting everyone. She stayed by his side as he laughed, talked and joked with a few teammates and front office staff. Finally, her friends, well Joey, had enough.
Olivia saw them sitting in an area set up with bench seats, chairs and tables, talking and knew it was about her when they all looked at her, smiling. She looked up at her handsome fiancé, whose hand was still around her waist as he, Atticus, Nick and Dre argued about which play was the best of the game, and smiled. He might be a great NFL quarterback, but he was no match for her best friend.
"Alright Fitz, let my girl go. We came to celebrate and I'm sure she doesn't want to listen to whatever you guys are talking about." The other guys stopped talking mid-sentence and looked at Joey in leather shorts, a leather halter top and stiletto sandals. She ignored them all and grabbed Olivia's arm. They walked away, giggling, and went to join the others.
"Thank you, Jo. I really did want to spend some time with you guys."
"No problem."
They approached the area where the ladies were sitting while everyone else moved closer to the stage to party with Silk Sonic, one of the many musical acts hired to perform.
Lauren stood and hugged her. "We wanted to get you by yourself, and since Fitz, for some reason, wasn't letting you out of his sight, we sent reinforcements."
Olivia laughed. "Thank you! I love him, but tonight he is being a bit much." It warmed her heart that his attention was on her on his special night.
After giving everyone a hug, she took an empty seat at the table while Tracee popped one of the magnums of champagne in the ice bucket on the table, and filled their glasses.
"He was holding on to you as if he was afraid to let you out of his sight. What's up with that?" Lauren asked.
Olivia could tell she was already tipsy, and chuckled.
"Honestly Laur, I have no idea." Okay, she was engaged, but she wasn't quite ready to share the news with anyone.
Tracee folded her arms, looking skeptical. "Well, be that way."
Olivia looked at Tracee. "Seriously, I'm not hiding anything. I don't know what's up with him." She felt horrible the moment the lie left her lips, and knew she'd have to make it up to them.
"Leave her alone, guys," Joey interrupted. She lifted her glass. They all followed. "To the world champion Washington Football Team, their WAGS and a phenomenal season."
They all laughed before taking sips of the bubbly alcohol.
Joey stared at Olivia over the rim of her glass, and then glanced at Fitz, who was now laughing and talking to a group of men which now included Julian. Olivia's eyes never left hers; she knew that Joey knew something was up but would never say anything in front of the group. Everyone around them was now standing and dancing, and Olivia watched as Joey removed her cell from her purse and quickly sent a text.
Olivia's phone vibrated in her small clutch. She waited a few seconds before checking it.
You're either pregnant, engaged or both aren't you? We'll talk later.
Olivia smiled at her bestie. She'd guessed correctly. She chuckled, remembering the conversation her and Fitz had had the previous week. She definitely wasn't pregnant.
Joey returned her smile before sending another text.
Either way, I'm so happy for you. I'm going to be a godmother, a matron of honor or both!
Olivia responded.
Thank you, Jo. But I'll tell you everything later.
Joey tipped her glass toward Olivia after reading her text. Thankfully none of the others seemed to notice their text exchange, probably because they were all drunk.
Eventually, the group grew in number and they all hung out in their private area talking, laughing and dancing to the music. At one point, T.C. had even joined them for a little while. They were all having a great time, without the occasional animosity, because they were all happy to share this moment together.

Olivia was sitting on the plush bench talking to Renee when her phone vibrated on the table in front of her. She picked it up and read the message.
We've been here long enough. Can I just celebrate the rest of the night… alone…with my beautiful fiancée…in our hotel room?
Olivia looked up from her device and searched around the lavish party, looking for her fiancé. Fitz was leaning against one of the decorative columns, hands in his pockets and legs crossed at the ankles, looking sexy as hell, staring at her. She chuckled at the two bottle blondes in spandex dresses vying for his attention, but he only had eyes for his Livvie as he stood straight and walked toward her.
She turned to her friends and said, "I have to go."
Joey looked past her to see Fitz headed their way. "Girl, I don't blame you. I'm about to grab that brother of yours so we can get out of here too."
When Fitz reached the table, he took Olivia's hand and helped her stand to her feet.
"Ladies, I hope you all enjoyed yourselves this evening, but I really need her."
"Goodnight, guys. We'll get together back in D.C. for a real celebration," Olivia said as they all stood to give her a hug.
The couple started to walk away and Fitz called over his shoulder, "we'll see you tomorrow, Joey." They continued to walk toward the exit, stopping occasionally to say goodbye. Olivia leaned into Fitz's side as they walked past the blondes. She heard one of them say, "Damn, I love a gorgeous and fine man." She chuckled to herself, agreeing. Fitzgerald Grant was gorgeous and fine, and he was all hers.

Ritz-Carlton…
By the time Fitz and Olivia walked through the door of her suite, it was after two in the morning. Traffic in South Beach was a monster and what should have taken twenty minutes, took almost an hour. Fitz was quiet as he sat on the sofa and reached out his hand to Olivia, pulling her down next to him.
"You must be exhausted," she said as she gently caressed his bearded cheek.
Fitz sighed, leaned his head against the back of the sofa and closed his eyes.
"I am. But I'm also excited. I just need a moment to digest everything that happened today."
He opened his eyes and looked at Olivia. "Are we really getting married?"
Olivia nodded, and then took his hand in hers. "We're getting married."
He grinned happily. "I can't wait."
"Neither can I, babe." She rested her head on his broad shoulder. "I love you, Fitz."
"I love you too." Fitz sighed. "This is all so surreal, Livvie. The Team won the Super Bowl, I'm MVP and we're getting married."
He pulled her into his arms and looked at her. "I would never have imagined falling so deeply in love with any woman as I have fallen with you, Olivia Pope. You have become my entire world. I cannot imagine, actually I don't want to imagine falling asleep or waking up without you by my side. I never knew that it was possible to have someone love me as much as you do." He reached out and gently wiped the tears from her cheeks.
Suddenly, he sat up and reached into the pocket inside his suit jacket, as Olivia watched. When he retrieved the ring box, he stood from the sofa and went down on one knee.
Olivia placed her hands over her mouth when she realized what he was doing, again.
Her hand shook in his, and he kissed it tenderly. "Olivia Carolyn Pope, I love you. Will you marry me?" he asked for the second time that night. "Will you be the mother of my children? Will you allow me to love you forever? And remember you already said 'yes.'" He gave her that grin.
Laughing and crying, Olivia nodded her head. "Yes. I trust and love you with all my heart. Yes. Because no one can or will, make me happier than you. Yes, yes, yes, again yes!" She cried. "Yes!"
She leaned forward and placed her hands on his shoulders and kissed him tenderly, a kiss that deepened as her arms wrapped around his neck. They held each other tightly for several minutes before Fitz realized that Olivia still hadn't seen her ring.
"Livvie, you've said yes twice without seeing this. You might change your mind."
Olivia shook her head. "Never, baby," she said as she watched him open the box.
"Oh, my God, Fitz! It's beautiful! The trilogy ring, which represented the past, present and future, was a stunning and flawless four carat round cut center stone, which was flanked on each side by a smaller round diamond that weighed two and a half carats each. They had been earrings in his late Aunt's jewelry collection, and were gifted to Fitz, by his mother, for Olivia's ring. (Constance Grant and Eli Pope were the only two people who knew he was going to propose) The stones were all set on a thin micro pave platinum band. Fitz felt the design suited Olivia's more understated jewelry style, and the center stone was just large enough to not appear gaudy on her small hand.
Fitz removed the ring from the box and slid it on her left ring finger. Olivia immediately held out her hand to see it. It was a perfect fit.
Once Fitz had placed that ring on Olivia's finger the weight of it brought her to reality. She'd just agreed to marry the love of her life, and he was going to be hers for the rest of her life. She wanted to pinch herself, but didn't, because this, was real.
Fitz stood and took a seat next to her again on the sofa, before pulling her onto his lap. He held her tightly as they both admired her ring.
"You know, babe, I had no idea I could feel like this," she whispered. Turning to look at him, she traced his jaw line with one finger and smiled. "I'm going to make you very, very happy. You know that don't you?"
Fitz grasped her hand in his. "Livvie, you already do. You just don't know how much."
"I think I do."
"So, are you ready to be my wife?"
Olivia kissed him deeply, passionately before pulling back and smiling at him. "I am ready to be your everything, mister."
Fitz kissed her lips softly. "So am I." He placed her on her feet and then stood next to her. She took his face into her small hands and stood on her toes to kiss his lips.
"It's Sunday, future husband."
He laughed and lifted her into his arms. "I think it's time we made our wish a reality, future wife."
Olivia chuckled and she wrapped her legs around his waist as he walked them both to the bedroom.
XXX
Olivia's back arched as she straddled Fitz's body. She rode him hard as his hands gripped her butt, guiding her up and down on his inches. She closed her eyes as her hips bucked against his. Olivia moaned. Knowing she was close, he slid a hand between them and lightly rubbed circles around her clit. Her breath caught and she began to pick up speed, rising and falling smoothly.
"Oh, Fitz. I'm s…so…so close, Fitz. Don't sto...stop." She rode him harder, faster. Fitz grabbed her hips, pulling her down and taking a nipple between his lips as thrust into her. He knew his woman and what it took to push her over the cliff. He could feel her orgasm building. It didn't take long for her core to clench tightly around his dick and she came, quivering, twitching. His own orgasm suddenly ripped through him as he restrained her hips, holding her. Olivia screamed his name and collapsed against his chest, as his own spasms ripped through every muscle in his body.
Fitz rubbed his hands up and down her back as they waited for their breathing to slow down. He held her in place, his inches still hard inside of her.
Olivia finally found the strength to open her eyes, and spoke against his chest. "I can stand to do that every night for the next fifty years. How about you?"
Fitz raised a brow. "Fifty? Are you planning to tire out on me that soon Olivia Grant?"
Olivia kissed his sweat-slicked chest and rolled off of him. She settled her back against his chest and he wrapped his arms around her waist. She was so content. No one should be so lucky, but somehow she was.
"That's Olivia Pope-Grant. She finally spoke and felt the vibrations when Fitz laughed.
"Okay. Olivia Pope-Grant."
They were quiet for a moment.
"Jo knows something's going on. She guessed that we're engaged, pregnant or both."
"What? How?"
"I don't know. But I told her we'd talk about it later."
He rolled her onto her back and hovered above her. He wanted her again. Right now. "We'll tell everyone tomorrow at brunch so they'll all find out at the same time. Now, I don't want to waste time talking about other people. Let's not think about anything or anyone but us."
Olivia felt the tip of his hard inches at the entrance to her core and raised a weary eyebrow. "I didn't tire you out?"
A lopsided grin covered Fitz's face before he entered her in one swift stroke. "I could never tire of you, Livvie. Fifty-plus years, remember?"
Olivia moaned against his lips while he pushed inside her, and all thought left her mind. He drove into her, over and over. Each thrust pushed her closer to the edge. She wrapped her legs tightly around his big body, opening herself even more. His hips pumped, going deeper with each thrust. She arched under him, murmuring his name over and over.
Olivia's legs tightened as Fitz moved in, out. Harder. Faster. Deeper. Suddenly, her climax swept over her with unexpected force, fast and hard. She dug her fingers into his shoulders trying to steady herself as she fell apart.
Fitz pulled his mouth from hers as a roar ripped from his throat and he slammed inside, his sac smacking against her. His hips pumped faster, and he moved in short jerks as he climaxed. She was so tight around him, so perfect. Opening his eyes, he stared down into Olivia's flushed face and managed a lazy grin.
"Fifty years my ass."
XXX
Twenty minutes later, Olivia lay prone on the bed, fairly certain she wouldn't be able to walk for at least a full twenty-four hours. She lay quietly looking toward the bathroom, waiting for Fitz to re-enter the bedroom, and the bed. And then he was there, standing naked in the doorway, his eyes locked with hers. Olivia lifted up on her elbows, staring as he stood in his full glory, every muscle in his body hard. As he slowly moved toward her, she lay back against the mound of pillows and reached out her arms to him. He climbed onto the bed, spread her legs again and crawled between them.
"Wait…Fitz."
He shook his head. "Nope. I want to make sure I am the only man you ever call fine in my presence again."
"Fitz," she whined.
Fitz reached down and swiped a finger through her folds to make sure she was ready, then spread her thighs and sank into her with a swift thrust of his hips. Olivia gasped and her core clenched around him.
Groaning, he leaned down and kissed her lips. "Maybe by your fourth or fifth orgasm, you'll remember that."
Olivia's eyes widened as she felt his dick starting to thrust inside her. She clawed at his back as she repeated his name again and again as he moved in and out of her, fast and deep, hitting her spot just right.
Fitz leaned down and kissed her and she grinned into his kiss. She was giving as good as she got. Her arms tightened around his neck, her fingers pushing through his thick hair. Suddenly, he landed so deep her mouth stretched wide open but no sound came out, and he felt her walls tightened, squeezing him tight.
Olivia moaned, low and Fitz picked up his pace that she kept up with. She began to buck her hips up to meet his thrusts. They moved in perfect sync. Her moans continued as she neared orgasm, Fitz pumped into her a few more times before the build was over and he was finally there. Soon, she began to shutter all over as her orgasm hit, this one harder than the last. Her orgasm sent him over the edge, and he followed behind with his own, fast and furious. When she closed around him, his head came up and he growled out loud as he erupted inside her, filling her with more of his seed.
They lay in a tangle of limbs, panting, trying to catch their breaths.
"Remind me to never compliment another man in your presence again," she mumbled as her hands stroked his back.
Fitz chuckled, his face still buried against her neck, and Olivia felt the rumble against her chest. "I'll see what I can do about that." He still had a few more rounds in him. "But we are far from finished, lady" he said as he rolled onto his back, taking her with him. She laid her head against his chest as his pounding heart slowed beneath her cheek and returned to normal. They lay together quietly until Fitz spoke again. "Who knew such a wild woman was hiding underneath that tough and beautiful exterior?" Fitz grinned down at Olivia and she blushed.
"Babe?"
"Hmm?" he answered lazily, his hands playing in her hair.
"Did you think we would end up here? I mean especially after the first time we met."
He laughed, hugging her closer and kissed her shoulder. "Did I think it would happen? No. Did I want it to happen?" He kissed her again. "Absolutely."
Olivia sighed. "I didn't," she said. "I thought you were an arrogant, cocky jock with a swollen head, so I put you into the hell no dating category."
Fitz chuckled. "But now you see that you had nothing to worry about."
She nodded. "Right. I love your swollen head," she said softly and reached down to lightly squeeze his dick.
Fitz hissed. "Woman, if you don't stop, you'll be on your back for round four quickly. My control can only take so much."
She purred and leaned in to kiss his neck. "So you've said."
"Keep it up."
"Olivia laughed. "Who knew I was getting all this when I agreed to one date."
"Well I think I got the better end of the deal," he said.
Olivia raised a brow. "Oh yeah, and what's that?"
Fitz kissed her lips. "You."

Monday…
Olivia was sound asleep when the first rays of sunlight peeked through the room, but Fitz was wide awake. He smiled down at the beautiful woman who was going to be his wife, soon, with his heart in his eyes. He loved her so much. She lay sprawled on her stomach, her naked body pressed into the mattress, one leg resting between his.
Fitz had lost count of the number of times they'd made love, but he knew she'd probably be sore today. He smiled. Every step she took today would be a reminder of what they'd been doing for the last four hours. He leaned over and kissed the ring on her finger and then her shoulder before he gently eased his leg from beneath hers. She barely stirred as he eased his exhausted body from the bed and headed to the bathroom to shower.
XXX
A few hours later…
Olivia's cell phone rang and she reached out to the bedside table, blindly trying to find it so she could stop the incessant ringing. Disoriented, by the time she found the phone, it had stopped ringing. She slowly opened her eyes and glanced at the display. She'd missed a call from Joey. It was almost eleven and they were meeting their families for brunch at noon.
She turned to the other side of the bed, not really expecting to find Fitz there, and he wasn't. She sat up and stood from the bed, wincing in the process. The flesh between her legs was sore, but it had been well worth it. As she gingerly walked to the bathroom, her sore muscles reminded her of what they'd been doing since returning from the victory party.
The bathroom was empty. Where was Fitz? She stood in front of the mirror and rubbed her hands over her face. That's when she noticed the diamond ring on her finger. It hadn't been a dream. She smiled. I'm going to marry Fitzgerald Grant! But where was he? Returning to the bedroom, she checked her phone again and there wasn't a message from him. Maybe he had a team meeting that he hadn't told her about.
She quickly texted him to check on him, and then sent a text to Joey letting her know that they were on their way. Walking back into the bathroom, she made a mental note to schedule a visit to the spa downstairs because she was going to need a deep massage to ease the tension from her tired sore, muscles. She brushed her teeth, cleansed her face then pinned up her hair before stepping under the hot spray of the multi-head shower.
Fifteen minutes later, she sat with a towel wrapped around her naked body, moisturizing her skin, when she heard Fitz's voice calling her.
"Livvie?"
Frowning, she removed the towel and slid her arms into her silk robe and followed the sound of his voice.
"I'm on the balcony."
Olivia threw up her hands. It had never occurred to her to check there. She stepped out onto the large balcony, with the view of the beach and the ocean that always took her breath away. It was a beautiful day, and so was the half-naked man wearing shorts with his muscled chest and abs on display. He sat on one of cushioned loungers with one of his knees bent and a beautiful smile on his handsome face.
"Good morning, future Mrs. Grant," he said. "What has that beautiful smile on your face?"
At that moment she wanted to skip the family brunch and spend the rest of the day with her fiance. She walked over to him, took his hand and sat between his legs, resting her back against his chest. She could stay here forever. He wrapped his arms around her and kissed her neck.
"You." She answered demurely. "Your love for me makes me extremely happy."
"That's good to know." He kissed her hair." I didn't think you'd ever wake up."
Olivia laughed. "I missed you. Plus, the bed was cold."
Fitz chuckled with her. "That bed needed to cool down some."
Olivia nodded her head. "Fitz I told you I'd like to use Pope-Grant, Olivia Pope professionally. I'm kind of attached to my name."
Fitz laughed out loud. "Livvie I don't care what name you use. I just want to call you my wife."
She melted. "Okay, I'll use Pope-Grant professionally too."
"I like the sound of that. He kissed her neck again. "You smell good," he said in a husky whisper.
"And you feel good. Good morning by the way. I thought you'd left."
"No. I just wanted to sit out here and reflect on everything. I have over one hundred missed calls and just as many text messages since last night and honestly, I don't know who most of them are. It's all so unreal."
"Yeah. I had to see the ring to remind me that your proposal wasn't a dream." She held out her hand to look at her ring. "You did good, babe. And knowing the story behind the side stones makes it even more beautiful. Your Aunt Imm would be so proud of you," she said, glancing over her shoulder.
"She would've loved you, Livvie." Fitz took her hand into his much larger one and brought it to his lips, and sighed. "I want to make you so happy."
"You already do."
They were quiet for a moment. "So what's next, Fitz?"
"We get married of course. We have lots of babies, we travel, we love each other forever and that's about it."
"I don't want to start planning anything until after J and Jo's wedding. This is their moment, and I don't want to take away from it. We'll announce our engagement today at brunch, but that's it. No date, no location, nothing. Plus there's still the topic of my career. I haven't decided what my next step will be. And where will we live? What if you decide to sign with another football team?"
He smiled at her the way he would for the rest of their lives and kissed her quiet. "Livvie, we'll figure it all out together. I'm not going to try to plan everything myself and spring it on you. Don't worry about it right now. Right now we have something much more important to think about."
"Like what?"
He sighed. "Things are about to get crazy for the both of us."
She looked at him again. "What do you mean?"
"The Football Team just won the Super Bowl and I'm the MVP. My career is about to move to another level, but there are also going to be whispers of retirement. I can't prepare you for what's about to happen because I'm not sure myself. What I do know is that our life is going to very busy, and very demanding. We just got engaged and…" He stopped his rambling and hugged Olivia tighter. "I just don't want to lose us in all of it."
Olivia heard the worry in his voice and turned around so that she could straddle his lap and put her arms around his neck. "Fitz, babe, we're going to be just fine. Being the wife of one of the world's most famous athletes scares me too. But what we have is real, and you won't lose me, no matter what. I'm never leaving you for any reason. You are everything in the world that I want and I am yours, only yours. We won't lose us."
Fitz leaned his forehead against hers, then kissed her and opened her robe as he entered her. She winced because she was still a little tender, but she spread her legs so he could fill her with his thick inches and slowly began to ride him.
"We just have to remember that at the end of each crazy day, it's just you and me."
He kissed her lips softly then smiled. "It's just you and me, Livvie. I think I can remember that."

Brunch…
When Olivia and Fitz entered the private dining room, forty-five minutes late, a silence fell over the room and everyone turned to stare at them. Olivia could feel her cheeks flush with color, suddenly embarrassed by the attention.
"It's about time you two came up for air," Joey said before turning her attention back to the plate of whole wheat pancakes in front of her.
Everyone in the room gave them a round of applause while also laughing heartily.
Fitz shook his head. "We didn't ask for comments from the peanut gallery," he said as he pulled out a chair for Olivia, while giving Joey a pointed look. She shrugged and continued eating. He then took the seat next to her, holding her left hand.
On Olivia's other side, Blair leaned in and whispered softly. "I want some of whatever you're giving him," she said, raising her eyebrows. "All Tim wanted to do last night was sleep."
Olivia laughed. She loved Fitz's family. "If I could bottle and sell it, I'd make a fortune."
Fitz could feel his cheeks turning a bright shade of red, and sweat beaded across his brow.
Harrison slapped him on the back, grinning. "Don't pay anyone any attention, Fitz." He reached out and bumped fists with Julian and the two men burst into laughter.
Olivia laughed along with them, before leaning over to kiss his cheek and whispering near his ear. "That's okay, baby, I am a very happy and satisfied woman."
Once Olivia and Fitz had been served, the numerous congratulatory toasts began. Everyone was so happy for Fitz, and so proud, and they all wanted him to know it. Finally, Olivia stood to speak. She looked across the table at Joey who gave her a warm, encouraging smile, although she still had no idea what was going on with her best friend. Everyone gave her their attention as she glanced down at her fiancé, who held her left hand. She then looked around the room filled with family, and those who would soon be family, and then turned to the love of her life. He knew she was about to share their secret.
"Words cannot begin to describe how proud I am of you, Fitz. You have been a leader to your team and in the community. I am so proud of the man you are. You are my dream come true. The dream I didn't even know I was looking for, but I am so happy you found me. I thank God for you every day. Thank you for allowing me to love you, and for loving me. And thank you for asking me to be your wife."
The first gasp came from Joey, and the second from Maya Pope. Slowly but surely, her words began to sink in to the others in the room.
Fitz stood next to his love, and wiped the tears from her cheeks before kissing her softly. He then turned to their families. "We wanted to share our news with the people we both love and trust. I asked this beautiful woman to marry me last night in the chaos on the football field and she said 'yes.''
The room erupted in cheers as their families celebrated the moment.
"Many of you don't know our story," Fitz said, as the room quieted. "I met Olivia at my annual pool party charity fundraiser last year. I thought she was beautiful, and a breath of fresh air. I introduced myself and told her that we hadn't had the pleasure of meeting. I'm Fitz Grant so of course I expected the customary smile and excitement that I usually receive when I meet someone for the first time." He shook his head. "Not with Olivia." He looked at her. "I think your exact words were, your assumption is that it would be a pleasure."
The room erupted again, as Olivia covered her face.
"Not my finest moment."
Fitz laughed and removed her hands. "Are you kidding? That piqued my interest and I wanted to know who this woman was. I had to work hard to get one date, and with assists from Julian, Joey and T.C., she finally agreed. I quickly stretched that date into two, showed her the man I was off the field, and of course she couldn't resist my charm."
Olivia smirked, while others groaned and Fitz grinned.
"Seriously, I've probably loved this beautiful woman from the moment I met her. It took some time, and a lot of work, but I wouldn't change a thing. From that first moment, I hoped and prayed that we would end up here, but now that it is a reality, you have made me a very happy man."
Fitz leaned down and kissed her in front of everyone, taking her mouth as passionately and as thoroughly as he would have if they were alone.
They were oblivious to the cheers, catcalls and whistles around them. When they finally came up for air, they were both breathing heavily.
"Oh my gosh! We're both getting married," Joey yelled as she rushed to her best friend, followed by the other women who all wanted to hug Olivia and admire her ring, which apparently no one had noticed.
Maya Pope was a mess of tears, as was Constance Grant, even though she knew a proposal was coming.
JR and Eli shook hands. "Congratulations, sir."
"And to you, sir."
Both men laughed before moving toward their newly engaged son and daughter.
The men in the room all shook Fitz's hand and slapped him on his back, several offering advice.
"Congratulations, Fitz." Julian said and shook his future brother-in-law's hand." You make my sister very happy, and you're perfect together. I'm just glad you finally had the sense to propose."
Fitz shook his head. "Come on, J. Of course I was going to ask her to marry me, do you think I'm completely crazy? Don't answer that," he said when saw the look on Julian's face. "It was really special, J. Scary? Hell yes, but it was nice."
Julian nodded in understanding.
"I made a beautiful speech, gave her my heart and a very expensive ring. The ceremony is just a formality. I feel like we're already married," he said.
Harrison, who'd quietly joined them, raised both brows and Fitz and Julian laughed at the expression on his face.
"When you fall in love and propose marriage, you'll know what I mean," Fitz said.
"Speaking of which, when are you going to settle down? You're not getting any younger," Julian said.
"J, please! I'm just entering my prime, I've got plenty of time for that, if I choose to get married which I do not," he emphasized. "There's only one woman in the world I'd ever want to marry and she's not available. He pretended to be sad.
Fitz gave him and inquiring look.
Harrison sighed deeply and confessed. "Angela Bassett won't return my calls."
The three men burst into loud laughter just as Olivia joined them.
Fitz hugged her to his side, and asked, "Are you sure you want to be a part of this chaos? My family can be a bit overwhelming."
Olivia stood on tip toe to and kissed his lips. "Baby, nothing could keep me away from you. And besides, you've met my family." She looked at her brother and her cousin, to make her point.
"Hey!" They both said before bursting into laughter again.

After more champagne toasts, more food and lots of laughter, several guests began to say their goodbyes and prepare to head back home. This week had been the culmination of years of hopes and dreams, on and off the football field.
Fitz had pledged in front of both their families that he would always love Olivia and always treat her heart as if it was his own. He was now league MVP, a Super Bowl champion and MVP, and none of it really mattered. He looked at his fiancée and was overcome with happiness. This was a winning season because he won Olivia Carolyn Pope's heart.
