Hey everybody, y'all alright? I hope this update finds you all in good health and enjoying your summer. I'm sorry it's taken so long to update this story, but after seven years of being a woman of leisure, I decided to re-enter the workforce and it's kicking my ass! I don't really have time to write anymore but felt I owed you guys an update. I apologize in advance if it's choppy and not my usual, but a sister is exhausted ya'll. lol

As always, thank you so much for your reviews and PMs. I wrote this for all of my loyal readers who've been sending PMs "begging" for an update. Here it is. Please let me know if you loved, it was meh, or you hated it. I think I have at least two more chapters in me and I'll end it there. Again, thank you all for being so patient, and for reading my little story.

Enjoy,

TBOT

Mr. and Mrs. Fitzgerald Thomas Grant, III, returned to U.S. from their honeymoon well rested and tanned. After endless hours of yacht cruises, snoozing, massages and reading in the sunshine, husband and wife were excited to enter the next phase of their life together as parents. They'd spent the rest of their time in Anguilla thinking about their baby and not much more than that. The couple quickly settled into married life. They had almost two months to spend together before Fitz had to leave for training camp, and they would spend most of it in Great Falls, alone.

XXX

Two weeks after their return, they were scheduled to fly to L.A. for the ESPYs, where Fitz was nominated for Best NFL Player, and Best Player, Men's Sports, and the Team was nominated for Best Team. Initially, he didn't want to attend in person, but Olivia really wanted to go. She reasoned that by the time training was over in mid August, and then the pre-season, it would probably be the last trip they would take before Baby Grant arrived. And of course whatever his wife wanted, she got. So he had his team make all the arrangements. They stayed at the new Waldorf-Astoria in Beverly Hills. Fitz took meetings and made scheduled appearances, while Olivia enjoyed the spa, the pool and shopping...with a black credit card that bore her new name, Olivia Grant. Things had definitely changed.

Fitz had told her, again, that his money was their money, and she would always have access to all of it. He'd been told by the men in his family that a real man takes care of his family, and he would always provide for the three Grants in his family. They'd had many conversations about the issue, the last was before they left for their wedding.

"I love and appreciate you, babe, but the thought of 'living off a man' makes me uncomfortable."

"Is that what I am, Livvie, just a man? Do you plan to be just a woman, or my wife?"

She was surprised by his response. "Wow, you're serious about this aren't you?"

Fitz chuckled. "Just know that I will take care of you and Baby Grant. As my wife, you'll have everything you need and everything you want."

She sighed. "I'm sorry, but this is all so new to me."

"Guess what, Livvie, I've never been married. It's new to me, too. But we both had good models of a good marriage, and fathers who took care of their families. Please don't look at this as some slight to your independence."

"I know, but I'm so used to taking care of..."

"Okay, Miss Independent," Fitz interrupted. "Why don't I retire and you can work, and take care of us."

Olivia laughed, knowing Fitz was right. They could be married and she could still have her own. Being married, and cared and provided for, didn't mean she had to lose herself.

"Keep your own bank accounts if that's what you need, but Livvie allow me to give you all that I have."

"Fine. Make me a kept woman if you want," she said crossing her arms across chest.

Fitz threw back his head and laughed. "We both know that's not what this is. But are we good? Is this the end of the discussion?"

Olivia nodded. "Yes, we're good."

It had still taken Olivia a little time to get comfortable spending their money. She'd always bought what she needed and what she really wanted, with her own money. But she did eventually come around.

One day during their honeymoon, when they both felt like leaving the bed and their villa, the newlyweds decided to do some shopping before heading back to the states. They'd shopped together only twice before and if Fitz had anything to say about it, it would be their last. He'd sat patiently in a dress shop while Olivia tried on dresses in various styles and colors. It was hard to believe women did this sort of thing every time they purchased clothes. First, it took them forever to find exactly what they wanted on the rack, then they had to go into the dressing room to try it on and them come out wearing it to get someone's opinion. Currently, she was on her sixth, seventh dress and each time she came out, Fitz just looked up from his phone and nodded. His wife was beautiful in whatever she wore.

When she finished, Fitz quickly paid for the items Olivia selected and arranged to have them delivered to their villa. He was surprised his self-reliant, independent wife didn't argue. He was adamant about taking care of her, and their little family. They hadn't signed a prenup because Fitz felt a prenuptial agreement was like an insurance policy against divorce. He and Olivia loved each other, and were going to be married 'til death do us part,' plus she'd never been interested in his money because she had her own.

Olivia kissed her husband once they were back in the car.

"Thank you, baby."

"You're slipping, Livvie," he said grinning at her. "Aren't you going to lecture me on how you don't want to spend my money?"

"Nope," she responded. "We're married now, mister," she said returning his grin. "Spending our money is one of my marital duties."

Fitz laughed, loudly, drawing their driver's attention. "Is that right?"

She nodded. "That's right, Mr. Grant."

"Well whatever I have is yours, Mrs. Grant, and since you're so committed to fulfilling one's obligations, why don't we go back to our villa to fulfill our marital duties a few more times," he whispered near her ear.

It was Olivia's turn to laugh but she didn't object when Fitz had the driver take them home.

Not long after they'd returned to Great Falls, they met with Fitz's attorney and Olivia signed a stack of documents. Of course as an attorney herself, she read everything before she signed. Fitz had added her name to his checking/savings accounts and several that he'd updated to reflect Olivia as the new beneficiary. Trusts, investments, life insurance, retirement, property, etc. After the attorney left, Fitz handed his wife an envelope which contained a Centurion card with her name on it. She was now Mrs. Fitzgerald Thomas Grant, III, and that included all the resources, privileges and power that came with the name.

Los Angeles...

When the large black SUV pulled up in front of the Microsoft Theatre, it was a scene right out of Oscar night. The red carpet led from the street up to the entrance. Reporters and photographers lined the roped-off entrance, and the instant Fitz stepped from the vehicle, the flash of lights from cameras and cell phones and the shouting of his name could be heard. Fitz assisted his wife to her feet and together they walked what felt like a gauntlet. It was actually overwhelming and Olivia's stress level went up, but she did her best to keep her smile in place as they walked the carpet.

Fitz felt his wife tense and knew they needed to get inside quickly. He stopped at the mark on the carpet, hugged Olivia to him and they took a few pictures. She may have been nervous, but she was stunning in a white empire one-shoulder, floor length silk charmeuse dress. Her hair had been styled into a classic simple bun and she wore little make-up. As usual, her skin was glowing. She unconsciously cradled her baby bump and ignored the questions called out to her. Fitz, handsome in a custom Tom Ford navy suit, stopped and gave a brief one-on-one interview but played coy when questioned about becoming a father. He did smile from ear to ear when he was congratulated, and thanked everyone. Taking his wife's hand, they finally made it inside.

To no one's surprise, Fitz won both categories he was nominated in and in each speech he thanked the Football Team organization, and his beautiful wife. There were a few members of the Team on hand to take in the night, and when they won, it was Malcolm La Blue, instead of Fitz, who gave the acceptance speech. When the show ended, Fitz and Olivia made a quick exit and returned to their hotel. Neither wanted to attend the afterparty; Olivia was tired and just wanted to rest before their early flight back to D.C.

At five and a half months pregnant, Olivia's pregnancy was already a strain on her small body. Between the hormonal changes, morning sickness, and back pain, she was exhausted. Of course Fitz was overjoyed and no one could wipe the smile off his face. And he wasn't just smiling all the time, he was also buying books; books about pregnancy, labor and delivery, breastfeeding, potty training and many more. There were also several deliveries of infant Football Team and Stanford gear, and Olivia begrudgingly admitted it was all adorable. When he wasn't shopping for Baby Grant, he was on the phone with his brother and his cousins, telling them all that he knew that they were having a son. His wife hoped he wouldn't be disappointed when their baby was born. She just wanted a healthy baby.

While her husband was ordering everything in sight for their baby, Olivia was craving cheese. Cheddar. String. Brie. Mozzarella. Gouda. Munster. Cheese was her new best friend. She had to have it morning, noon and night. Cheese by itself, with eggs, on a sandwich or even as a side dish. Baby Grant demanded cheese. It was just a quirk of pregnancy and her husband and Bert made sure the baby and its mother got what it wanted, and kept all kinds of cheeses on hand.

One thing the newlyweds agreed on was pregnancy sex was indeed great! Then again, that part of their relationship had never really been an issue, but they were committed to keeping their love life spicy and creative. On the days that Olivia's pregnancy hadn't sapped her energy, her husband made sure to do things to her that left her wiped out, and whipped. And she did her best to reciprocate.

Married life agreed with them and they took nothing for granted. Was it perfect? Of course not, but they made a concerted effort to stay connected and just loved being together. They still gave one another the space to breathe and to be individuals. Like they had before their marriage, they didn't always share the same views or opinions. They bantered and challenged each other's thinking. They didn't give in, they compromised. They also took Big Olivia's advice to them to heart: Work hard to be good to AND for each other.

Currently, Fitz was busy preparing for possibly his last training camp and the upcoming season, running a few miles three times a week, and strength training. While Fitz worked out a few hours per day, Olivia consulted with a few defense attorneys on their cases. As a former prosecutor, she had a deep and experienced understanding of the trial process and could expose the weaknesses in another prosecutor's argument. Her insight and expertise were in demand, but she wasn't interested in taking on anymore cases. Her main focus was on gestating their baby, and she was committed to doing everything to ensure that Baby Grant was thriving. She joined a prenatal water aerobics class, and loved it. When she wasn't working or spending time with her husband, she could be found in the pool. The water helped to support her belly and relieve pressure from her spine and pelvis while she swam.

Chesapeake Bay…

Two weeks before Fitz had to leave for training camp, the newlyweds took a trip to the Bennett estate in Chesapeake. Olivia was almost six months pregnant, and she was all belly. For whatever reason, probably because he was leaving his love, Fitz had become clingy, always next to his wife, rubbing or touching a part of her body. Even with her ever-changing body, he'd never allowed her to question his desire for her. Lately she was hot all the time, and their growing baby had limited their sexual activity, which frustrated them both. Fitz sympathized with his wife wanting him all the time and couldn't have him the way she wanted.

Olivia woke their first morning in the quiet house still wrapped in her husband's arms, her face buried in his neck. The sun hadn't yet risen so the room was still semi-dark. She watched her husband sleep but soon grew bored and started playing with his lips.

"Stop it, Livvie," he mumbled.

When she continued, he quickly grabbed her hand and playfully nipped her fingers.

"Hey!" she said in mock horror and then chuckled.

He removed his arms from around her and turned over, determined to sleep a little longer. Fitz rarely slept in, so she left him alone. Grabbing her robe, she went into the bathroom to cleanse her face and brush her teeth. She returned to the bedroom and climbed back into bed with her husband. Reaching for her Belly Buds, she plugged them into her phone and the baby listened to Stevie Wonder, while she closed her eyes and relaxed.

About an hour later, Fitz sat up and stood from the bed, naked of course. His large sculpted body was beautiful and she watched him as he stretched and then headed to the bathroom. Her husband had the perfect ass. She was still sitting under the duvet when he returned. He walked over to her and kissed her.

"Good morning, beautiful."

Olivia smiled, deepening the kiss. "Good morning, handsome."

Fitz reached out and removed the buds from his wife's belly before he lovingly caressed it, then lowering his head to kiss it. His stubble brushed against her skin.

"Good morning, Bean. Are you still sleeping?" He grinned up at his wife. "Come on, wake up for your daddy." He'd read that he probably wouldn't be able to feel the baby move until the end of the second trimester or even the beginning of third, but that didn't stop him for encouraging the baby.

Olivia reached out and ran her fingers through his hair. After a few more minutes of nothing, Fitz sighed and kissed her belly once more before moving to sit next to his wife, and pulling her back into his arms. He was quiet for a full minute which meant he wanted to talk, so she waited.

"Livvie, one of the reasons I wanted to get away was because we will be apart for five weeks, and I wanted you to myself, but also so we could talk without all the usual interruptions."

Olivia smiled up at him and kissed his chin. "I know. It has been difficult with everything that's going on. And technically, we're still newlyweds." They'd attended the reception given for them by Eli and Maya Pope two days ago. It wasn't as large an event as Maya Pope wanted, but Olivia had threatened to not attend if it was over the top. In the end, it was beautiful with lots of family and friends, and she and Fitz had had a good time.

Fitz grinned at his beautiful, glowing wife. "I love you," he said kissing her curls, and squeezing her tighter. "You know family is very important to me, and I don't want to make things difficult or make you feel as if your feelings, opinions or even your career are not important with what I'm about to say."

He felt her body tense in his arms but she didn't say a word, so he continued.

"Livvie this is our first baby and I know I'm going to miss out on a lot of firsts, but I don't want you to miss out too. I think one of us should be there, full-time, for all those moments so we can share them with each other."

Olivia moved out of her husband's arms and stared at him. "Are you asking me to give up my career?" she asked, trying to remain calm. This was the last thing she'd expected him to say.

Fitz shook his head vehemently. "No. I'm not asking you to give up your career, just maybe think about staying home a little longer. At least until the season ends. Our baby will be four, almost five months old." If he were being honest, he really didn't want Olivia to work until after their baby was at least a year old, but he kept it to himself because he knew his wife would never agree to that.

"Fitz, you know I've never wanted to be a stay-at-home mother, and I would never be happy just being your wife, that's never been me. I'm not the housewife type. I would be bored to death, plus I've worked too hard to…"

He raised his hands in surrender. "I know, Livvie." He smiled, instantly calming her down. "You would never be happy just staying home, and that's not what I'm asking. I've been thinking about this a lot." He paused. "Livvie I know we'll eventually need hired help, but I don't want anyone taking care of our baby the first few months but us."

"Fitz women work and take care of their children every day, either because they have to or they want to. And honestly, I don't think you would find me as interesting if all I did was care for our children."

Fitz frowned. "What? Livvie, you will always be more than someone who only cares for our children. I don't want you to give up your personality, interests or independence just because you're married and about to become a mother. You can do whatever you want to do and I will always support you."

"Except work," she responded, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Baby, please don't get upset," he said reaching out and unfolding her arms. "It's not good for you or the baby."

"Well Fitz it's hard not to get upset when you spring something like this on me. I would like to say out of nowhere, but this feels as if you've been thinking about it for some time."

He nodded. "I have. But not because I don't want you to work, I just don't want a nanny taking care of our baby for the first few months of its life. That's all. My mother was home, and unlike some of my cousins, we never had nannies, and I think we're better people for it."

"Well my mother has a career and she set a strong example for me. She could've stayed home to raised me and my brother, but that's not who she is. She did both, with sacrifices of course, but J and I turned out okay too. Working mothers can produce high-functioning and well-adjusted adults."

He sighed. "I know that, Livvie."

"So only my life will change when the baby comes. Your life will remain the same. You'll get to do what you love, which is play football. I know you said this was for the baby, but it's for you too. And I'm not too sure I would've agreed to you playing one more season had I known you were going to ask me to stop working."

Fitz shook his head. "No Livvie, our life changes. We are both going to be raising our child. And I am asking, not telling you to put your career on hold just for a few months."

"But Fitz, I am the only one putting my career on hold."

"For four, five months tops."

"But who's to say you won't change your mind and four or five months won't turn into a year, or longer? What happens when I can't do what I love? I'm your wife and the mother of your child. But should I have to give up a large part of who I am to take on those roles?"

"We all change for what we want. I did. I wanted you." He grinned at her and she tried hard not to return it. "Seriously, Livvie, I promise I won't change my mind, and it wouldn't matter if I did."

Olivia nodded. "You're right about that."

Fitz chuckled. "I'm probably only going to play one more season before I retire, then I'll be a stay-at-home dad while you work."

Olivia closed her eyes, thinking about what he'd said. She'd heard over the past year that the secret to being a good NFL wife was to never show them how unhappy you were that they weren't able to be with you, including during childbirth. Whether it was an away game or practice, missed birthdays or holidays. Always put a smile on your face and tell them you're okay no matter how much you're not. Well that wasn't her. Her husband would always know how she felt. She opened her eyes again and stared at her him.

Fitz reached out and took her hand, bringing it to his lips before briefly staring at it before speaking again. "All I'm asking is that until the season is over, it's just you, me, Bert and my mother, taking care of our baby? You know my mom's probably going to move here anyway." They both smiled because it was true. "The season will be over in February and I will be the primary parent after that."

"Both our mothers will want to take care of their grandchild," Olivia added.

He chuckled, nodding in agreement.

"But Fitz what about Wives Club events or games that I'm expected to attend as the Team captain's wife?"

"Then we ask Bert or our mothers to keep the baby. If I don't have to attend, I will stay home, or you can go without me. This is our baby, Livvie, our family," he said caressing her stomach. "We don't have to explain anything to anyone if we don't attend everything."

Olivia sighed. "It just feels as if I'm making all the sacrifices right now. I know it's for our family, and I'm going to be a mom, so I know there will be many more sacrifices and compromises that I'll be expected to make."

"Please, Livvie," he pleaded.

"I'll continue consulting from home until the baby is born. Once Bean is here, and the season is over, we will be revisiting this subject again, mister. And we're still getting a baby nurse, too."

"Absolutely," Fitz said, staring at her before his face broke out into that lopsided grin. "I'm just nervous and worried about being a new parent, Livvie."

"I know, babe. So am I."

He grew serious again. "If this arrangement just doesn't work for you, and you need to work, or you need some balance, we'll figure it out. Always remember, if you're not happy, I'm not happy. You and this baby are my life, and I want to make you both happy. Okay?"

Olivia nodded slowly. "Okay."

Happy with the outcome of their discussion, Fitz pulled Olivia onto his large body so she could straddle him. Silently, he opened her robe, exposing her breasts. Leaning forward, he sucked on her sensitive nipple, causing Olivia to moan.

"You like this?"

"Yes," she whimpered.

He slid a hand between her soft thighs toward her core, and his finger ground against her outer lips before he pushed two fingers inside her wet heat. She moaned again and pressed his head closer to her breasts.

"Fitz. Oh my…"

"You're so wet, Livvie."

"Only for you, baby."

He chuckled and continued to roll his tongue over her nipples. Suddenly he removed his hand from her core because he could feel her walls tightening. She was on the verge of an orgasm and he wasn't ready yet.

"I want to show you how much I'm going to miss you."

"Please, Fitz," she begged.

Fitz lifted his wife and she felt his tip against her opening. Slowly she slid down onto his dick, taking him deep into her body until she had him all. They both moaned in muffled pleasure as their mouths joined. Olivia didn't move, allowing her body to stretch as it fit his girth deep inside her. As always, he filled her completely and she almost fell apart at his first stroke, but then Fitz took over. His large hands gripped her ass, holding her steady against the thrusting of his hips. She leaned her body forward, as far as she could, her breasts a few inches from his solid chest and wrapped her arms around his neck. She bent a little at the waist increasing the friction and the slide of him inside of her. Fitz's hand moved along her inner thigh, to her button which made her move faster. Harder.

"Fitz, I'm about to come," she whispered.

"Livvie," he growled, burying his face in her curls.

A scream caught in her throat as her inner muscles clinched around his inches. She arched her back and moaned, the sound bouncing off the walls, and threw her head back as her orgasm ripped through her. Fitz followed closely, plunging as deep as he could reach, continuing to thrust until he'd emptied himself inside her.

Olivia leaned against her husband's hard chest as they both tried to catch their breath. Fitz finally slid down onto his back with Olivia on his chest before laying her down next to him, spooning her from behind.

"Hey, beautiful," he said softly, "are you okay?"

"I'm perfect," she said lazily, her eyes still closed and a smile on her face.

Fitz chuckled. "Yes. Yes, you are."

They lay for several minutes, neither saying a word, just enjoying the warm afterglow. Eventually, he tapped her butt.

"Come on, let's go and shower so I can cook breakfast for you and Bean." Standing from the bed, he reached down and lifted Olivia into his arms. "And then we can come back and I'll show you again how much I'm going to miss you."

Olivia threw back her head and laughed as her husband walked toward the bathroom with her in his arms.

She couldn't wait.

Football Team Ring Ceremony…

Fitz and Olivia returned from Chesapeake in time to attend the Team's ring ceremony. Fitz had been asked several questions by the media about his new contract and repeating as Super Bowl champions which he answered diplomatically, but questions regarding the platinum band on his left ring finger, and Olivia's obvious pregnant belly, he dodged and answered without giving away anything. He neither confirmed nor denied whether Olivia was having a boy or a girl, or when she was due. It was a skill Olivia admired. They had always tried to keep their personal life as private as they could, although they did thank everyone for the well wishes.

Lauren, Tracee, Chanel and Renee had all squealed with excitement when they saw their girl. Lauren and Tracee had attended the Pope-Grant nuptials and knew Olivia was pregnant, but Chanel and Renee found out after seeing photos from the ESPYs. Neither of their husbands was with the Football Team anymore, so they didn't get to see each other. Chanel was in Chicago and Renee was now in Jacksonville. Olivia missed them both and they all made plans to get together before they had to leave.

Later that night, Fitz was able to make his pre-Super Bowl fantasy of Olivia wearing her wedding ring, his Super Bowl Championship ring along with his jersey, and nothing else, come true. Of course his wife's pregnant belly hadn't been a part of his vision, but it did make the night more interesting.

Three months to go…

The next three months were filled with anticipation for the arrival of Baby Grant. Fitz left for training camp and Olivia spent the first three weeks of his absence on Martha's Vineyard with her family. She had to admit that it was great not having to anticipate all the work waiting for her when she returned to her office. She was able to just relax, something she had never really been able to do.

The Popes had been invited to the Grant family's annual barbecue at their compound, where she met more of Fitz's family. JR and Constance were also in attendance and made sure that their daughter-in-law took it easy. Olivia also spoke with Fitz several times per day. She'd had a pre-natal appointment two days before he left. Dr. Goodrich confirmed that Baby Grant developing beautifully, and together they'd been able to hear and record the baby's heartbeat. They both agreed that it was still the most beautiful sound either of them had ever heard.

XXX

Thirty-two weeks…

JR and Constance spent the two weeks before Fitz's return in Great Falls with Olivia. They were so excited, and like their son, couldn't wipe the smiles from their faces. They were also in the process of moving into a Grant property near their son and daughter-in-law. She loved and adored her in-laws, and to see them now, no one would believe that she and J.R. had had a rocky beginning. They'd long gotten past that and now he was one of her favorite people, and they spoke often.

During one of their many conversations, he'd told Olivia that for years his son hadn't introduced any of the women he dated to him and Constance, and when they asked why, he told them because it wasn't serious. When they asked what he was waiting on, he always said "the best." The day he and Olivia walked into that restaurant together for brunch, his wife had said, here she is. He knew she was right by the way Fitz was looking at the beautiful young woman, with the scowl on her face, holding his hand. Their son had found The One. And after the way Olivia skillfully handled his considerable arrogance and his assumptions about her, he knew his son would marry her and told her so. He was right.

Between the Grants, Bert, and Fitz, when he finally returned home from camp, Olivia wasn't allowed to do much. She was still consulting, and had begun working on their baby's nursery with a designer. She also still attended the water aerobics class as well as swam laps in their pool. She enjoyed the solitude as her arms sliced through the water. It gave her a chance to think and reflect on motherhood, and her wonderful life with Fitz.

When Fitz wasn't at the Team facility in Ashburn, he spent all of his time with his wife. He would stare at her, loving the way she looked when they showered or took baths together. He couldn't keep his hands off her, especially when she was naked. He loved to play with her round belly. He would rub it until the baby kicked, and would whisper to her belly, complaining to their baby whenever Olivia was annoyed with him.

"Your mommy is being mean to your daddy," Fitz would say making Olivia roll her eyes and laugh at her silly husband. At night, they would make love if Olivia was in the mood, and talk about how they were going to raise their child, who would be the lenient parent (Fitz, of course) and baby names.

"Livvie," Fitz kissed her belly. "What are we going to name our baby?"

"Well, I don't like any of those horrible names that you've suggested."

He lifted a brow. "Oh really?"

"Yes. And I still don't understand why you don't want our son to have your name."

"Oh no," Fitz said shaking his head. "He needs his own name so he can create his own path. Besides, when I suggested Olivia for our daughter, I don't recall you being enthusiastic about that name either. If it's a girl, she would be the fourth…"

"Fifth," Olivia corrected. "I'm the fourth."

"Our daughter would be the fifth Olivia in your family. I've met Olivia two and three, and I married the fourth. Our daughter couldn't be a part of a greater legacy. You're all brilliant, wise, strong and kind."

Tears filled Olivia's eyes. Her husband was correct. If they named their daughter Olivia, she would feel the freedom, and the weight that comes with the legacy of Olivias one through three.

"Oh Fitz, that's beautiful. But no," she said shaking her head.

"No?"

"No."

"No?"

Olivia laughed. "You're so silly," she said kissing him.

"I know baby, but that's why you love me."

"I do love you. Just think, in eight more weeks we'll get to meet our baby and hold it in our arms."

"I'll be holding both my babies," he brought her hand to his lips and pressed a kiss inside her palm. "I can't tell you how happy you have made me. I love you." He tenderly pulled her into his arms, knowing he was the luckiest man in the world.

XXX

Thirty-three weeks…

Fitz escorted Olivia into the elevator for the ride to the rooftop restaurant of the Grant property in the District. They were meeting their parents for Saturday lunch, since Fitz had a home game the next day. They also were running late because Olivia hadn't liked any of the outfits she'd tried on. She'd finally settled on a flutter sleeve belted wrap dress in sky blue and gold block heel sandals. She wasn't a fan of the heels, but at almost eight months pregnant, they were the only shoes she'd found that were comfortable. Her hair hung in straight silky strands to the middle of her back, and she wore minimal make-up. She was glowing and didn't really need much.

Fitz walked slightly ahead of his wife, handsome in an indigo blue linen cotton jacket, light blue shirt and blue chinos. On his feet were dark chocolate leather hybrid sneakers, no socks. Olivia was surprised by her husband's casual footwear, but didn't say anything.

The doors to the restaurant opened as they approached, and the people gathered inside yelled, SURPRISE! Lunch turned out to be a baby shower. Olivia was momentarily speechless and shocked, and turned wide-eyed to her husband, who smiled lovingly at her. She covered her face and laughed and cried at the same time; she truly was surprised.

Fitz gathered his wife in his arms and whispered, "I know you didn't really want a baby shower, but our mothers insisted."

Olivia opened her eyes and looked up at her husband.

"Besides, you didn't expect them to listen, did you?" Fitz kissed her forehead and grinned down into her beautiful face.

"Yes. I did."

Maya heard her daughter's response. "I'm sorry, baby, but that was just unrealistic." She kissed her daughter's cheek, and laughed. "But you'll forgive us, right? This is our first grandchild."

"It's only three hours, we promise," Constance added joining them. "And technically it's a luncheon, not a baby shower. So try and enjoy yourself." She leaned in and kissed her daughter-in-law.

Okay, she could survive three hours. "Promise me there are no games."

"Not one," Constance said, shaking her head. "It's just conversation, drinks, food and gifts."

"Gifts?" She looked at Fitz. "We said no gifts."

"Well a baby show…baby luncheon isn't a baby luncheon without gifts," Maya said. "Now come on, your guests are waiting."

Fitz put his arm around her as they walked further into the room, which was gorgeous. Her mother-in-law had been correct it did not look like a typical baby shower, although the room was beautifully decorated in gender neutral colors: sage green, white, gold and blush. The cake, three tiers, matched the décor and like the flowers and everything else, was understated elegance. There was even a DJ who was currently spinning classics, specifically Stevie Wonder.

Eli Pope approached the happy couple first. "Not much longer, baby girl, and I can't wait. You're beautiful." He kissed his daughter's forehead.

"Thank you, Daddy."

He then turned to Fitz. "You have made my daughter very happy. Congratulations."

"Thank you, Eli," Fitz said. The two men talked quite often. His father-in-law had become another sounding board, whose opinion he valued.

They continued to walk around, greeting their guests, mostly friends and family. Olivia hugged Bert and her husband, whom she'd met at her birthday party eight months ago. She liked him, he was just as kind as his wife.

"Liv, you're stunning as usual. You and Fitz are both glowing," Joey said as she kissed her best friend's cheek. "I always thought it was a myth that pregnant women have a glow, but now I see it's the truth."

"Thank you, Jo. I've heard that a lot, but when I look into the mirror I feel the same, just bigger."

"Well you're still beautiful."

"Josephine's correct, baby sis. You are stunning," Julian said and pulled his little sister into his arms.

Olivia's eyes filled with tears. "Thanks, J."

Fitz kissed Joey's cheek and shook Julian's hand. "I'm sure you two have a lot to talk about," Fitz said. "I'm going to get something to drink. Can I get anyone anything?"

"No, I'm fine babe."

Joey shook her head.

"Okay." Fitz kissed his wife's cheek before walking away with Julian to join Dre, Drew and Victor.

Olivia and Joey joined Lauren, Tracee and Jada at their table. They all exchanged greetings as other guests mingled around them, eating and drinking.

"Liv this luncheon is amazing. Your mother and mother-in-law outdid themselves," Lauren said.

"How are you? I feel like it's been forever since I've seen you," Tracee added.

"We saw each other at Lauren's Labor Day party a week ago."

"I know. But I'm just so used to you being in the suite with us."

"I miss you guys too. And I'm sorry I haven't been around much."

"Girl, we've all been crazy busy, and you have a baby on the way," Jada added. She didn't want her friend to feel guilty about not spending time with them.

"How much longer, Liv?" Lauren asked.

Olivia patted her very round belly. "Seven weeks."

"It's getting close. I'm so happy for you." Joey hugged her again.

"Thank you, Jo." She leaned her head on her best friend's shoulder.

"Well we're not going anywhere," Lauren patted her hand.

"I know. Maybe we need to have a girl's day."

"Yes, before the baby comes," Lauren added.

"That's a great idea! What about next Saturday. The Team has an away game. We can have a spa day," Tracee said. "Manis, pedis, massages."

"Sounds good," Lauren said. "I'll make all of the arrangements and send you all the details."

"That works for me," Jada said.

"I'm there," Olivia responded before standing and promising to return to their table. She saw Fitz and Constance talking across the room and went to join them.

"Are you having a good time, Olivia?" Constance asked, taking her daughter-in-law's hands in hers.

"I am. Thank you so much for not listening to me."

The three of them laughed as Fitz slid an arm around his wife's expanding pregnant waist.

"Maya and I just couldn't help ourselves."

Olivia chuckled, nodding her head. "I know. And I really am happy you planned this for us."

"We're happy because you're happy," Constance said and kissed Olivia's cheek before excusing herself to talk to a cousin who'd called out to her.

"How are you feeling, baby?" Fitz asked, pulling his wife into his arms.

"I'm fine," she answered as the sounds of Stevie's I Love Every Little Thing About You played in the background. He brought his lips down to hers in a passionate kiss before pulling away and placing a kiss on her forehead. Olivia listened to her favorite artist so much in their home and the car, even playing his music for their baby through her Belly Buds, that the song had become one of Fitz's favorite.

"Did you request this?"

Fitz grinned and shook his head. "Nope."

Olivia closed her eyes, allowing the music to wash over her as she moved in the arms of the sweetest gift God had ever given her. The couple was lost in their own world where only they existed, as they swayed to the music.

Though they say you're not my friend,
You've been here through thick and thin,
And for that little girl I love ya,
And all I want to do is talk about ya,

I'm here to say,
I love you more each day,
And I just want to tell the world,
That I love you so.

Though they put me down because,
I love you as much as I do,
But they don't know what you've done for me,
You've made such a happy man out of me.

And I'm here to say,
Love you every day, yeah.
And I just want to tell the world,
That I love you so.

Baby, I love, I love, I love, I love every little thing about you baby
Oh, yeah, I love, I love, I love, I love every little thing about you baby

Movement and conversation in the room ceased as everyone's attention was drawn to the couple gently moving to music. Watching the newlyweds felt as though they were intruding on something intimate and personal. Some looked away while others smiled, trying not to cry. When the song ended, there was applause and Olivia opened her eyes to see everyone looking at them and smiling. Embarrassed, she hid her face against her husband's chest.

Fitz leaned down and kissed her hair, which smelled like coconut. "I love you, Livvie."

Olivia lifted her head and gazed at her husband who was smiling down at her. "I love you, too."

"I know. Now come on, let's greet our late guests," he said as he nodded in the direction of T.C. and Ty, who'd arrived late. She took Fitz's hand and he led her in the direction of the latecomers.

"Hi, Liv," T.C. said, hugging her sister-in-law as close as her belly would allow. "You are gorgeous!"

"Thank you, T."

"Fitz cleared his throat. "What about me?" He struck an exaggerated pose.

T.C. sneered. "Please, I'm still trying to figure out what Liv sees in you. You're one step from ugly, big bro."

"Please. You wish you looked half as good as me."

"Well you're my brother and we look a lot alike so..."

"This is nice," Ty said interrupting the siblings, and kissing Olivia's cheek. "I've never been to a baby shower, not even my sister's. I'll have to go to more."

"Yes, the grandmothers-to-be did their thing," Olivia said looking around the room.

"Olivia Carolyn," Maya said, interrupting the foursome and joining them. "Hello Theodora, Tyson," she said. They exchanged pleasantries. "We're going to take pictures, let you eat and open a few gifts."

"Okay, Mom. But I do I have to take pictures now?" she whined.

Maya nodded. "Yes, you and Fitz."

Fitz nudged his sister playfully before he turned to follow Maya and Olivia, not giving her a chance to return the nudge. "That's for showing up late to our party."

The "luncheon" was a huge success. As they'd celebrated Baby Grant, Fitz and Olivia had sat enjoying the attention and well wishes from their family and friends. They'd taken a lot of pictures, including a few with the baby's godparents, Joey, Julian, Dre and Jada. Olivia had also been able to spend more with her girls. There had been a lot of laughter, parenting advice and even a few tears. JR and Constance had spoken words from the heart and Olivia had thanked God, once again, for the kindness and open-hearted acceptance of her in-laws.

Maya Pope had been practically beaming the entire day. She'd always wanted the very best for her daughter, for both her children really, and they both had that now. She was a very happy mother. And, she and her daughter had come a long way and now had an even better relationship than they'd ever shared. There were more lighthearted moments between the two than she could ever remember, and she had no intentions of doing or saying anything to ruin any of that. They now had a beautiful woman-to-woman relationship that she didn't take for granted, although Olivia did let her know when she was doing "the most." She couldn't help herself and got emotional whenever she thought about the next stage of her daughter's life, motherhood. She'd brought stunned tears to Olivia's eyes with her heartfelt toast at the bridal luncheon in Anguilla.

"Thirty-one years ago, when Olivia, our precious girl was born in the wee hours of a rainy day, we were the proudest parents on earth. She is one of the greatest wonders of my world, and she stole mine and her father's hearts with her first breath and has never let go. Watching her grow and mature like a flower in bloom as the years flew by was my greatest joy ever. I still remember her first day of kindergarten, middle school, high school, prom, and all your graduations.

Today, I stand in front of you, the proudest mom that ever lived because you've made me so proud every step of the way. Well most of the way. We definitely had our differences over the years." Everyone laughed, some nodded knowingly, and Olivia tried to wipe the tears that wouldn't stop falling. "Olivia, being your mom is a joy and privilege and I want you to know I love you so much. It has been my prayer that you find someone to love and care for you the rest of your life. When Fitzgerald showed up, I knew you had met the man of your dreams and I'm so excited that you're getting married in three days" Maya wiped her tears before continuing. "Many of you know that she's been told her entire life that she looks like me, but the truth is there is no one like her. Smart, sassy, bold, beautiful, no one has a more tender, compassionate and hopeful heart. Congratulations to my Olivia Carolyn, our dream girl, my baby girl, my love." There hadn't been a dry eye in the room by the time Maya made her way to where her daughter sat and pulled her into her arms for a hug that held so much promise. They had finally turned a corner.

And today at the baby "luncheon," her words were again beautiful and inspiring, and they made Olivia love her mother even more.

"When Olivia Carolyn was a little girl, she'd carry this baby doll everywhere she went. We had to buy her a stroller and clothes and call her by name. I got to see all the ways I'd shown my baby how to be a mom. At the time, I didn't realize how important that was. As the years went by, I don't think she gave anymore thought to having a child of her own. All she ever really wanted was to grow up and practice law like her father." Mother and daughter smiled at each other. "It is an awesome responsibility to raise children, and the most humbling one in the world. It's a thrill again and again to watch your 'babies' grow into strong adults. Now, my darling daughter, I hope you'll get to see all the ways you make a great mother through your child's eyes." She raised her glass. "To great mothers and the tiny mirrors that reflect them."

Olivia had looked at Julian with tear filled eyes, and brother and sister exchanged a look before turning back to their mother.

After lunch was served, Fitz sat next to his wife as she opened their gifts, admiring each item they received. When she finished, they thanked everyone. Not long after, their guests began to leave and came up to the couple for goodbyes. They hugged and thanked them all for coming, while the restaurant staff loaded the gifts onto carts to take downstairs to Fitz's SUV. The couple wasn't far behind them. Fitz needed to get his tired but happy wife home and settled, before heading to Ashburn for the charter to the Team hotel. They thanked both of their mothers before heading for the exit and home.

Forty-one weeks…

Olivia was a week overdue, and she'd never been more miserable. Bean had no room to grow and was pushing her organs into her chest which made it hard to breathe and sleep. Bert called it the last trimester blues. Or better yet, the last trimester, overdue baby, bed rest, plus annoying husband, mother and mother-in-law blues. The baby was getting too big for her tiny body, so her doctor had put her on modified bed rest. She spent most of her time at home in bed.

The grandmothers-to-be and Fitz were taking turns at being the most irritating. Although she knew they all meant well and were just trying to make her comfortable, she was just ready for it all to be over because her belly was getting in the way of everything.

They'd gone to her weekly OB visit the previous Thursday where Dr. Goodrich had checked the size of Bean, its heart rate, and checked the position. She'd also checked Olivia's cervix and tasked her with recording kick counts, as well as hinted at safe ways they could nudge the baby along. The couple was having sex as often as Olivia felt up to it.

She was sitting up in bed when Fitz walked into the bedroom wearing sweats, and sat down on their bed to lace up his sneakers. The Team had returned from Atlanta late last night after a win. He was tired but he needed to go to the Team facilities for a few hours.

"Do you have to go to Ashburn today?" she whined.

"You know I do, Livvie."

Olivia knew he was laser focused on the season. The Team was the reigning Super Bowl champions and had a good chance to repeat. She burst into tears before she could stop herself and Fitz crawled up on the bed and sat next to his wife, pulling her into his arms.

"Livvie, I'll only be gone four hours, five tops. Everything will be okay. My mother and Bert will take great care of you."

She reached for a tissue to wipe her tears and blow her nose. "I know, babe. But I just want this pregnancy over with."

He leaned over and kissed her braids and smiled at her. "So do I. I'm so ready to meet our baby."

"Says the guy who's going out while I'm stuck in bed with a tablet, laptop and the remote," she said pouting.

Fitz sat up and removed his shoes before climbing underneath the duvet with his miserable, but beautiful wife.

"Hand me the remote."

"Fitz, what are you doing? She asked with a look of surprise on her face.

"I'm spending a little time with my wife. We're on bed rest."

She shook her head. "No. You're the team captain. You cannot miss practice because your wife is feeling sorry for herself."

"Nope," he said as he powered on the television. "I'm going to lie here until you feel better."

"I get it. You love and support me, and I love you for that. Always. Thank you, baby." She leaned her cumbersome body over and kissed his cheek. "But I do not want Coach Fauci or your teammates upset with me because you're not there."

Fitz ignored her and continued to channel surf.

"You know what I would like?" she asked trying to snuggle closer to her husband's large body.

He briefly turned from the television to look at her. "Anything for you, Livvie."

"A warm bath with lavender and eucalyptus. Maybe that will ease my backache."

Fitz sat up with a concerned look on his face. "You're experiencing back pain?"

Olivia waved him off. "A little. Your stubborn baby's trying to make more room and is pressing on my back."

Fitz chuckled. "So now it's my stubborn baby because it's making you uncomfortable?"

Olivia smiled at her husband, nodding. "You learn fast, babe."

Laughing, he threw the duvet aside and lifted his oversized pajama top, which she now wore, to expose his wife's very large pregnant belly. Leaning down he kissed it softly before speaking. "Hey Bean. Since you're taking your sweet time getting here, could you at least let your mother get some rest?"

Olivia giggled. She loved when he talked to their baby. It was usually followed by kicks, pokes and prods, as if Bean already recognized its father's voice. Over the last two months, they'd been able to guess which body part was sticking out, trying to poke through. They'd actually made a game of it. Every night before they went to bed, they would wait and watch their baby moving inside Olivia's belly. It all seem even more real, even more so than the ultrasound. Bean would move at certain times and roll a certain way, which helped its parents begin to learn their baby's habits and personality.

Quietly, they sat still and waited for the baby to respond. They weren't disappointed when they saw a little elbow poke out the side of her belly.

"There he is," Olivia said excitedly.

"He?" Fitz asked, surprised. "This is the first time you've actually used a sex when referring to our baby. Do you know something I don't, Mrs. Grant?"

Olivia shook her head. "No. But my heart is telling me it's a boy." She'd had this feeling for a while but didn't say anything to Fitz.

Fitz gave her that huge lopsided grin. "I've been telling you it's boy since we found out you were pregnant, Livvie."

Olivia laughed, nodding. "Well we'll find out soon enough…I hope."

"Yeah, when Bean decides he's ready to grace us with his presence." He kissed her belly again and then stood from the bed. "I'm going to run your bath. I'll be right back."

"I'll be here…waiting."

Fitz laughed as he pulled out his phone and sent a quick text message to his position coach before walking to their bathroom to prepare his wife's bath.

Two hours later…

Fitz had sat waiting while Olivia relaxed in the warm, fragrant water trying to ease the ache in her lower back. When she was finished, he helped her stand and lifted her out of the large bathtub. Carrying her into their bedroom, he laid her on her side, and moisturized and massaged her entire body, paying special attention to her lower back and her heavy belly. When he finished, he helped her get dressed again, and then comfortable underneath the duvet. He'd called down to Bert to request Olivia's breakfast and by the time she walked into their bedroom with a tray, he was on his way out.

Olivia was currently walking around her baby's yellow, white and muted grey, well appointed nursery with a hand caressing her belly. Her baby was playing kickball, but the strong kicking gave her peace of mind, letting her know Bean was alright even if it was taking it's time getting here. She and Fitz had worked with the designer who'd helped decorate her condo, and the end result was a warm, inviting space for their baby. Although they'd both agreed that their baby would be sleeping in a co-sleeper crib attached to Olivia's side of the bed. It was supposed to make nursing easier.

She'd just walked out of the closet when she felt another slight cramp in lower belly and moaned softly. She'd been experiencing those since last night. Then she suddenly stopped walking, bit down on her bottom lip and gasped in surprise when she felt a stream of warm moisture down her legs. She stared down at the wet spot on the rug and knew what it was. Her water had broken. Smiling, she felt a surge of nervous excitement because she and Fitz were going to meet their baby soon. Bean was finally coming!

Olivia removed her phone from the pocket of the cardigan she wore and called Constance, who was in town with J.R. waiting for the birth of their first grandchild. In no time, she, Bert and J.R., who had been working in the office downstairs, were in the nursery fussing over her.

"I think my water broke," she whispered in a shaky voice.

"Your water broke?" Bert asked excitedly.

Olivia nodded and looked down at the rug again, while Bert hurried to the linen closet for towels.

"Are you in pain?" Constance asked. "Are you having contractions?"

Olivia shook her head. "No. Nothing yet. Is that normal?"

"It is, but we need to get you to the hospital."

"I'll get the car," J.R. finally said, already on his way out of the room.

"J.R.!" Olivia called out to him. "Could you please grab my hospital go bag? It's in the foyer closet."

"Of course."

This was why they hadn't put the bag in the car. Just in case someone other than her husband had to take her to the hospital.

"I'll call Fitz and Eli as well. Maya may be in surgery."

"Thank you, J.R."

"Alright," Constance said. "Let's get you changed into dry clothes so we can get out of here and have a baby."
