First day of classes. It was going to be interesting with Tex around because, by necessity, he had to be at her side, per her dad's orders, but she didn't think about it too much. She was here to represent nontraditional students starting their lives at college and that was exactly what she was going to do. She had to. This was the big pillar of the election that they had just won. It was about getting more people into higher paying jobs by making school more accessible to both traditional and nontraditional students.

She got out of her bedroom and there he was Tex. He was in the kitchen, doing something. He looked up and smiled at her. "Morning, princess,"

"I told you, I'm not a princess," She responded to him.

He completely dismissed it with a shrug of his shoulders. "How does pancakes sound for breakfast?" He asked as he flipped one, impossibly high in the air. She never took her eyes off it as she watched it splash down in the pan on the exact right side.

"Sure," She said, mesmerized by the whole thing.

Tex for his part, loved calling his charge princess and being told that she wasn't. There was something about her that made the exchange easy. She never said it in a mean way. But she was clear that she didn't want people thinking that she was just doing things on daddy's dime. No, she was here for her own reasons.

As he started plating the pancakes and shoving it in front of her before making his own, he knew he had to know. They were going to be together a lot, so they better start getting to know each other. And none of that felt easy if he didn't know the answer to at least one basic question.

"So what are you here for? What's your major?" He asked.

She cut a bite and stuffed it in her mouth, before she got a second to answer. She blushed when she heard the question just a second too late and covered her mouth and gave him that cute one second gesture that people did in these kinds of situations.

When she swallowed, she smiled at him, cutting up her next bite, ready to eat before she proudly declared, "I'm here for a biology degree, I'm actually looking to go into immunology and virology, but it'll be a few semesters before I can get there,"

Tex nodded, he wasn't dumb in any sort of capacity, but this woman she already had her life planned out. And that was on top of the stuff that she was doing representing her father to the general public. She was not messing around. She had specifics that were way more in depth than they had any right to be.

"What about you?" She asked him, before taking another bite.

He grinned. The woman was opening up. She didn't even speak to him during the car ride. She'd only said a couple of sentences to him while the president was here, but now, here she was interested in what he was doing.

"International affairs with a minor in Russian studies," He told her as he also took a bite of his pancakes. They were delicious, thankfully, she didn't see the burnt ones in the trash. It had been a bit of a reintroduction to the whole thing.

Her eyes widened as she looked at him. "Impressive. And you're doing that all on your free time because you'll be in classes with me," She said.

He shrugged. "Well, some of the courses are online, so I can do them while I'm watching you and your class. I'll be taking some of those too anyway," He said, because it was true. He would have a grueling schedule otherwise. Only a few in person classes. He looked at the time on his watch and quickly started in on his pancakes. There would be time to talk later.

The rest of the time was quiet as they ate their pancakes in amiable silence before picking up their bags and getting ready to go the first day of classes. The walk on campus was actually pretty easy and since he didn't read as bodyguard, Rachel seemed more comfortable. They weren't being picked out of a crowd.

As she stepped into the classroom though, heads turned and Tex stood a little closer, trying not to interfere too much but being constantly aware that danger would be around the least expected corner.

Rachel took a syllabus and pushed Tex towards two seats in the middle of the large auditorium style classroom and sat down without a word. There was a distinct frown on her face though as she looked through the syllabus and definitely not at him. He put his syllabus down in front of him and decided not to think about it. It was his job. Her happiness that he was doing his job was not the indicator of success, her being alive was.

It was a biology class lecture class that they had a lab for right after. And the lab was much easier to handle, though there was still gawking at Rachel. People didn't know him from a hole in the road which made it easier to blend in.

"Alright, look across the table from yourself, that is your lab partner for the rest of the semester. You better get to know them well, because they will be responsible for half of your grade," The professor said.

Rachel and Tex looked at each other. Tex smiled. Rachel rolled her eyes. She thought that she was going to have to do way more work to make up for his ignorance. He could tell that. But still, he was going to show her that just because he worked out and he looked out for her because her dad paid him a handsome sum, did not also mean that he wasn't smart.

Lists of materials for their first assignment were passed around by the TAs in the classroom, he briefly looked at the list. All of it made sense, most of it would be able to be purchased at a general store, but things that wouldn't, were made available at the college store.

The day went like that where Rachel looked on top of her game except for a literature class they both were taking. She looked at the book list with a quizzical look on her face. And Tex hoped that this would be the place where he would show her that having him around, it didn't just have to be about protection, he could help.
