The groove was set and it was looking like this would be a gig where there wouldn't be any action. So far, it had been taking her to classes, going to the gym, and a few intimate meetings with Quincy and his girlfriend. Quincy was a student she met in one of her other science classes that he wasn't taking with her, so sat a little bit aways from but still enough to keep an eye on her.

She was allowed to have a social life, in fact it was supposed to be encouraged. The whole thing about this plan was that it wouldn't be an intrusive barrier to her having a life. Quincy was a little dry and he couldn't quite put his finger on why the man rubbed him the wrong way, but there it was. Still, he was nice to her. And they were just supposed to be extremely lucky college students if they could afford that identity and with Quincy, Rachel seemed to have no problem keeping that up.

"Hey, let's all go to a halloween party," Kelly, Quincy's girlfriend suggested. "You guys could use a few more friends than just each other, come on," She said as she pulled Rachel up.

While the words were all technically true, he didn't know if he liked the idea of a halloween party, but the rest of the group was up and they were chatting and happy. It looked like Rachel wanted to go. "We don't have costumes," He said, struggling for words for the first time in a long time.

"Oh, well, I can help Rachel with something but there's a costume shop not too far away. And I can drive." Kelly said, helpfully, as she pulled Rachel off their nice and manicured couch and into her bedroom before they could say no.

Quincy looked at him and smiled. "She's kinda like that, but you know, probably good for us all to get out," He said.

Tex just nodded and went to his bedroom and looked for any sort of inspiration that he could for a costume. He had some aviator sunglasses and a bomber jacket, could be someone from Top Gun. And he had a couple of superhero shirts that he wasn't used to wearing. He couldn't actually even remember if he had bought them for himself now that he really thought about it. He picked all of the stuff up and went back out into the living room, best not to keep everyone waiting.

Kelly and Rachel were back from her room, with nothing that resembled a costume. In fact, they didn't have anything at all in their hands, something he found suspicious. But he didn't bother to ask. This was Rachel's want. Rachel wanted to go to this party, so they were going to go to the party.

First though, the costume store. It was a big box costume store with plenty of selection of costumes, wigs, accessories, and halloween decorations. It was a sea of color that frankly gave him a bit of a migraine. The girls scurried off before he had a chance to see where they were going and he huffed at that fact.

"You okay, mate?" Quincy asked.

Tex shook his head and took a deep breath, "I'm fine." He said as he went to look at the men's section of the costumes. He still popped his head up occasionally to make sure that nothing ridiculous was going on with Rachel and it seemed like everyone was leaving them alone, so he could set out to do his own work of picking out a costume.

In the end, he decided the top gun look was really going to be his best option and bothered with none of the costumes from the rack. He saw Kelly anxiously awaiting at the dressing rooms and figured that must be where Rachel was.

"She'll be out shortly," Kelly said to him, without him asking.

He nodded and they waited for a few minutes before Rachel came out in a very short dress and some animal ears, a little bow legged and looking a little awkward. It was the first time that Tex had ever seen her in such a thing.

"It's already a little chilly, are you sure you're going to be comfortable?" He asked as he tried not gasping and tried not pushing her back into the dressing room so that no one else could see her like that. He already had a hard enough time doing his job, by making sure that he was discreet about the whole thing, now he had to worry about her being dressed like that too? At a college halloween party?

Rachel looked between him and Kelly, who had the biggest smile on her face. "Oh my god, you look great. And maybe we can find you a boyfriend." She shrieked. "It's perfect."

"If you say so," Rachel said, trying to pull the dress down a little to cover more and that made him feel a tiny bit better. At least the whole thing wasn't a complete win with Rachel. But she did still seem like she was going to wear it, because she went back into the dressing room to take it off, change back into her clothes before taking it to the front counter and paying for it and then put it on again. No sense in finding somewhere else to change, he guessed.

"Let me go find quincy," Kelly told them, before she ran off, leaving Rachel and Tex at the dressing room doors, looking at each other.

"What?" Rachel asked him, finally.

He shook his head. He couldn't tell her that this job was a gig he took because he thought it would be easy work to look after. And more than that, he couldn't tell her that it was going to get harder, knowing that she looked like underneath her more conservative clothes. No, he shook his head and smiled. "Nothing, princess."

"I'm not a-" She started.

"-a princess, I know, princess." He smiled back.

It was a few minutes before Kelly and Quincy came back, with some costumes, Daphne and Fred, from Scooby Doo. He had to admit that they looked rather cute in the whole thing, but not like Rachel who aside from his normal duties of keeping her safe from potential stalkers and kidnappers, now that job also including keeping her away from people who might want to do something with the president's daughter.
