She took no notice of the world around her the only thing she could feel was the sticky blood covering her hands and a nagging sound just outside her
hearing. Shaking her head to regain her focus the sound cleared, turning towards the king calling her name whispered full of fear.
"I can't heal him my magic cannot touch him."
Seeing his wife, soul mate and long time bodyguard all unable to react he took a deep breath and took charge like he was trained his to his entire life.
First thing first, he crawled across the blood covered stones and pressed his hands over the blood coated pale ones holding together a mans stomach
and forced the fear filled dark blue eyes of his best friends to lock onto his own.
"Alright, we need to get him to Gaius. I'm going to pick him up while you keep your hands right were the are okay?"
"But… but you cannot its Leon! He's too heavy oh god Arthur I can't lose him."
"Hey, look at me, now stay calm no one is going to die I need your help. Now are you able to make me stronger for a short period of time with a spell or
something?"
"Yes I can but I'll need one of my hands free to touch you. Can you keep yours right were they are while I cast and then we will switch again alright? on
the count of three one…two…three!"
Two sets of red brown hands moved as one preserving the life sprawled below them. Arthur felt a rush of warmth similar to bloodlust fill his body, every
muscle twitched with increased strength as Merlin's spell touched him. After switching hands again he carefully slid his arms under the 6 foot 2 man in
front of him and slowly stood, careful not to dislodge her hands as he held Leon bridal style. He turned to the man keeping his wife's face hidden from
to gruesome sight and instructed him to escort her back to the castle and onto the training field until he could find a knight to care for her and thanked
him before he headed quickly towards the physicians chamber with Emrys following right beside him.

Gaius and Hunith were sitting quietly at the short wooden table, the afternoon sun providing the needed light to read by. Each had a book in front of
them one on herbs and one on pain management so both were startled when the heavy wood door was violently kicked open so it crashed into the
stone wall behind. The figure of the king was back let making him look like some avenging Angel and in his arms was the first knight of Camelot
looking like he weighed no more the a child while a blood covered Merlin pressing into him. Dusty tear tracks stained her face as she started to explain
while placing Leon on the cot.
"He…Gaius he has been stabbed. I've tried to heal him but…but my magic just slides off him like oil and water. Why? This has never happened before.
Why I'm Emrys for goddess sakes I should be able to heal anyone, most certainly the man I love. I don't understand can you save him please? I need
him. We're going to be married. I can't lose him you have to..."
"Merlin! Calm yourself child we will do everything we can and as for why your magic can't touch him…well let me patch him up and I will tell you. For
now I think it would be best to leave us work I swear I will keep you informed your mother and I need space. Sire, if you could please get her out of
here."
"Of course, come along idiot we both need to get cleaned up he is in good hands we did our part now let them do theirs."

Arthur felt like a Sheppard or a parent as he steered a almost cationic Merlin towards his chambers. Neither had spoken since they left the physicians
tower which could only be a good thing the sound of silence was heavy in the air around them. He could feel the strength spell wearing off like coming
down from an adrenalin rush, good thing they had made it. Pushing Merlin into him room he sighed in relief when he closed the door behind him and
slid down the wall as his legs gave out. He was unaware of how long he was sitting on his floor before a warm slender body sat down next to him.
" Thank you for all that back there I guess I kind of freaked out. How are you holding up? The crash from that spell is bad."
" No need to thank me you would do and have done the same for me. Umm mer…emh Emrys I was wondering whether you prefer I call you Merlin or
Emrys I know whenever we are not alone I have to call you Emrys but just between us which one would you like me to use?"
" Honestly it doesn't really matter but if I had to choose I enjoy you calling me by my old name it makes me feel less lonely. Do you think Leon will make
it? I just wish I knew why my magic would not work."
"Merlin, Leon always makes it. My entire life I have seen him come back from or survive injury that no one else could he is the luckiest person I have
ever known. Once when he was 15 he was stabbed in training, right through his shoulder strap, blood was everywhere and he past out. Everybody
thought he would die but three days later he was back in his rooms on bed rest. Any other 15 year old would have at least lost an arm or more likely
died from blood loss but he survives. I guess the point of telling you this is I think he will be alright."
"Yeah you probably right he does have a lucky streak. Come on cabbage head lets get you off the floor and cleaned up it won't look to go for the king to
be covered in blood."
"Your no better your dress is soaked up past your elbows."
"Well you first now off with the shirt ill get the water ready."
"Merlin! I am not striping in front of you you're a woman for goodness sake."
"First of all...grow up I've seen you shirtless many times, second don't flatter yourself your so not my type and third Arthur let me take care of you
please for old times?"
"Fine, you win, make sure the water is warm not hot and find me a new shirt."
"Right away dollop head."
*************************birth*************************
He walked towards the castle his arm around the queen in a sort of daze. Watching his brother literally explode in front of him and splatter every
surface in one square grid was frightening to say the least. His memory replayed all the times his brother would sacrifice everything to keep him happy
or safe as his eyes started to burn. No! He would not cry, not here, not now. First he would escort the queen then get his money from the Ass hole who
got his brother killed and keep his promise and live the life his brother always wanted for him. While crossing the bridge to the upper town the queen
broke the quite.
"You have my thanks sir it does my heart proud to have such a citizen like yourself in Camelot. If you wish for anything just ask, the training field is over
this way you have done the crown a good service today."
"Thank you my lady but there is no need to reward me as long as your safe that is payment enough. Well my queen we have been noticed here comes a
knight my task is done it has been an honor farewell."
She could only watch as the tall green eyes long brown haired townsman bowed and walked back the way they came.

Once again he was sitting in the inn but this time the air was filled with the tale of the court magician blowing up an assassin that was after the queen
but only he knew who the real target was. It was a shame one of the brothers he hired was dead but hey more money for the other guy. With a mumble
and hand gesture the bag of coins on his belt vanished and would reappear in the surviving guys room. Phase one complete time for phase two.
